This book has come at a perfect time.
I've been looking for some spring reads to get me out of my winter reading slump, and this was great for that.

I think this is my fourth or fifth Eliza J Scott book, and so far I have enjoyed each of them!
She does cozy vibes and cute locations really well, and I love how much each of her stories revolves around such a nice, close- knit group of friends.
It really is quite sweet and comforting. And, if you read multiple of the books in the series, you definitely start to develop an attachment to them. So it is always exciting to get little updates on them and where their lives are headed.

I will say that with all of her books, this one included, there is somewhat of a learning curve involved with the dialogue!
It isn't a bad thing, and you can get used to it pretty quickly, but a lot of the phases/syntax used are pretty unqiue to reflect the Yorkshire setting.
Honestly though, I like that. I find it immerses me in the story really well.

The plot here is (by design), a tad bit frustrating at times.
Toxic mother-in-law, lack of boundary-respecting, and so on... one of those things that can really just burn you up inside honestly.
It's not really a complaint though, because it is clearly written in a way which is condemning her behavior, so yay for that!

Overall, the story is good, and so is the writing,
If you have enjoyed the other books in the series (or one of this authors other, unrelated books) you will probably enjoy this one as well!
I'm always hopeful to read more from her in the future.

Thank you to Netgalley, Storm Publishing and author Eliza J Scott, for providing me with the eARC of "A Wedding at the Little Bookshop by the Sea", in exchange for my honest review!

This is number 7 in a series and I plan to read the backlist. Florrie and Ed are 3 weeks away from their wedding. Dawn, Ed’s Mother shows up unexpectedly. Dawn and her husband have tried every scheme possible to get Florrie and Ed to give them the bookshop. This time Dawn is trying to break them up, going so far as to have Ed’s ex girlfriend help. In my opinion, these current trials only served to deepen Ed and Florrie’s commitment. It’s a light hearted, comforting story. I rapidly came to despise Dawn. Highly recommend.

I was blessed with an ARC. Thank you NetGalley and Storm Publishing. The opinions expressed are my own and unbiased.

I love weddings and the setting of Micklewick was the perfect location for Florrie and Ed’s wedding. This wonderful community and the characters are what makes this a special series.
Weddings have a habit of bringing out the worst in some people and Florrie and Ed had their work cut out to make their day extra special.
Relatable, romantic and so so good, congratulations to the happy couple and the author.

Thanks to NetGalley for the advance copy in exchange for my honest review!
I enjoyed the cozy setting for this book, and the female community of friends. I also appreciated the familial boundary-setting drama. The overall plot left me wanting more, but perhaps that's because I jumped into the series with book #7...maybe I'll have to revisit Micklewick Bay in the future.

There is something so comforting about a book set around a bookshop, a wedding, close friendships, and a little family drama, and this story delivered exactly that warm, emotional charm I was hoping for. From the very beginning, I felt completely pulled into Florrie and Ed’s world—their little bookshop, their cosy routines, their shared dreams, and the excitement of being just weeks away from their wedding. It had that lovely small-town, feel-good atmosphere that instantly makes you want to curl up with a blanket and keep reading.

What I loved most about this book was how real and relatable Florrie felt as a character. She is trying so hard to hold everything together—her relationship, the wedding, the bookshop, and her own peace of mind—while dealing with someone who barges into her life and quietly starts unsettling everything. I really felt for her. Dawn’s sudden arrival added such a frustrating but compelling tension to the story. She was one of those characters who made me feel irritated in the best possible way because her presence created so much discomfort and uncertainty. I kept wanting to know what exactly she was hiding and what her real intentions were.

I also really enjoyed how this wasn’t just a romance or wedding story—it was also about protecting the life you’ve built, setting boundaries, and recognizing the people who truly show up for you. One of the sweetest parts of the book was the support Florrie receives from her friends and the loyal bookshop community. That sense of found family and emotional support made the story feel even more heartfelt. It reminded me that sometimes the strongest love stories are not just about romance, but also about the people who stand beside you when life gets messy.

And of course, as someone who always appreciates books with a strong emotional core, I really enjoyed the way this one balanced lightness with deeper feelings. It had humour, warmth, tension, tenderness, and those lovely little bookish details that made the setting feel so alive. The bookshop itself almost felt like a character of its own, and I absolutely adored that. Any story that celebrates books, community, and second chances at happiness already has a special place in my heart.

Overall, this was such an uplifting, emotional, and comforting read. It’s the kind of book that feels like a warm cup of tea on a difficult day—gentle, heartfelt, and full of hope. If you enjoy bookshop settings, wedding excitement, emotional family complications, and wholesome small-town vibes, then this is definitely one to pick up. I finished it feeling satisfied, comforted, and quietly emotional—and honestly, that’s exactly the kind of reading experience I love.

I really wanted to like this book - it has all the elements that I usually love - a cozy couple, a small seaside town, a bookshop and a little bit of drama. But I just couldn’t fall in love with it and honestly it left me feeling a bit flat.

A Wedding at the Little Bookshop by the Sea is part of a series of books set in Micklewick Bay on the Yorkshire coast. But don’t be put off if you haven’t read any previous titles in the series. The author does a good job of introducing the main characters and catching you up on previous key events. Although I do wonder if I would have connected with the characters more if I had read the previous titles in the series.

Florrie and Ed are the owners and proprietors of The Happy Hartes Bookshop - an idyllic and thriving bookstore that they are pouring their hearts into. They are also due to get married in a few short weeks. Surely nothing could happen to risk their upcoming nuptials…but when Ed’s scheming, money-grabbing mother, Dawn, turns up in Micklewick tensions rise. Can Florrie and Ed stay strong and weather the storm?

I found the pace quite slow. The multiple hen parties was a great idea but they didn’t really add anything to the storyline, other than to rehash what had happened in the previous chapter. I do feel that this book could benefit from going through a much more rigorous editing process to take out some unnecessary description and repetition. ‘Jokes’ feel laboured. For example, you smile at the first use of Mary Nightmaringale, but by the fourth or fifth use it wears thin. The dialogue seems a bit clunky and stilted with the occasional Yorkshire colloquialism thrown in just to remind you where the book is set.

For me, the characters also needed some fleshing out and this is where I wonder if maybe I had read other books in the series I’d feel more of a connection. I found Florrie frustratingly ‘vanilla’ at times and I just wanted her to develop some gumption. Wanting to see the best in people and not causing a scene is one thing but if someone tried to steal my business and destroy my happy-ever-after I’m fairly certain I’d have more of a reaction than could be justified by ‘oh lovey, that’s terrible.’

That said, if you’re looking for a cute, low-drama, relationship-driven story with feel-good vibes that you don’t need to think about too much then I’d recommend dipping into Eliza J Scott’s Micklewick Bay series.

This was an interesting cozy romance. It was also my first introduction to Micklewick Bay and the characters of Florrie and Ed. Given that this is book 7, I do feel that I was missing out on some of the back story. But that did not stop me from enjoying this story.

Florrie and Ed are just weeks away from getting married in their small coastal town of Micklewick Bay. They have faced hardships and losses but come out the other side stronger and more in love than ever. They are getting ready for their Hen do and Stag parties. Which has Florrie a bit anxious. And then you add the unexpected arrival of a guest and you begin to wonder if their wedding is going to go off without a hitch.

One of the best parts of this story was the friendships and the community that was established in Micklewick Bay. I loved that the opening scene had Florrie having a girls night with her friends and being able to ask them about the rumor she heard about their plans for her hen do. I also really enjoyed the teasing and bantering that existed between the friends. You could feel the bond and love between them. From there the community that has been built made me want to visit this small town. Everyone knew everyone and they were all willing to help out and be there for each other. This was evident in the support that given to Ed and Florrie when Ed's mother unceremoniously showed up with an ulterior motive. You saw the community rally around Ed and Florrie when their small shop was vandalized. But even more so when Florrie's dad was sick.

This story also highlighted how finding the right person, your person can help make the difficult days easier and the good days even better. I loved that even though I hadn't read the previous six books, you could see the growth in both main characters. I love that the author didn't forget about the beginnings and was resolute in showcasing the growth. Specifically in Ed. But I loved that Florrie recognized some of her own failings and was working to make sure that it didn't affect her relationship with Ed.

Would I go back to Micklewick Bay? Yes, I would. I would love to get to know the beginnings of this story and see where all of the character's journeys take them in the future.

Thank you NetGalley and Storm publishing for an early copy of this book. All thoughts and opinions are my own.

ARC Review
A Wedding at the Bookshop by the Sea by Eliza J. Scott
Pub. Date: Match 5, 2026

Florrie and Ed have everything they'll ever need: good friends, their own business (a bookshop), and a perfectly planned wedding. Life is good, until Ed's mother blows into town 3 weeks before the wedding and starts drama. From showing up unannounced, being cruel and abusive to Ed, to even bringing Ed's ex-girlfriend into town; there are no limits to what she will do to try to stop their wedding and steal the bookshop from them. Is Florrie's and Ed's love strong enough to withstand the storm?

What I loved: all of Florrie's friends. Her friend group is built of strong, powerhouse women that love and support each other. Not only are they there emotionally, but they all throw different hen parties for Florrie, since they couldn't decide on one theme. The hen parties were great, fun, and perfect ideas. I really loved how sweet Ed was, and how he finally stood up for himself after years of verbal abuse and neglect.

What I didn't love: had a bit of a slow pace and was very descriptive. Not necessarily a bad thing, but there were a few times I had to go back to see what the characters were saying/asking before a long description/back story was given. There was a little too much information given internally during conversations that it was hard to remember what they were even talking about in the first place.

It has the feel of a 90s/2000s wedding drama movie, but definitely not a comedy. It is part of a series of books with interconnected characters. This is the first book in the series that I read and I didn't have a hard time following. It can be read as a standalone but I'd recommend reading the series if you want to meet each character first and not have the relationships already established.

I recommend it if you like:
📕 Small town & big support
📗 Women supporting women
📘 Family drama
📙 Contemporary romances
📕 Wedding drama
📗 Golden Retriever MMC
📘 Shy but fierce MFC
📙 Love conquering all

Thank you to Storm Publishing and Netgalley for the opportunity to read and review this book.

A Wedding at the Little Bookshop by the Sea is a warm, uplifting delight, filled with the gentle charm and emotional sincerity that make small‑town romances so comforting. Florrie Appleton and her fiancé, Ed, are just weeks away from the literary‑themed wedding of their dreams, and the bookshop they run together feels like the beating heart of their life—cozy, bustling, and full of community spirit. It’s the kind of setting that makes you want to curl up with a cup of tea and stay awhile.

That serenity doesn’t last long. The moment Ed’s estranged mother, Dawn, appears unannounced, the story takes on a wonderfully tense, slightly chaotic energy. Dawn’s sudden interest in wedding planning is suspicious enough, but her habit of critiquing the bookshop, poking around their cottage, and inserting herself into every decision adds a delicious layer of drama. Florrie’s unease is palpable, and the novel captures beautifully how even the happiest moments can wobble when old wounds and complicated family ties resurface.

What keeps the story buoyant is the warmth surrounding Florrie. Her close-knit circle of friends, the loyal customers who treat the bookshop like a second home, and the gentle humour threaded through the narrative all create a sense of community that feels genuinely comforting. The stakes are emotional rather than explosive, but they matter deeply: protecting the shop she loves, safeguarding her relationship, and trusting that love can withstand even the most unexpected disruptions.

It’s a tender, feel‑good read with just enough conflict to keep the pages turning, and plenty of heart to leave you smiling. Perfect for readers who enjoy coastal settings, bookish charm, and romances that celebrate imperfect people finding their way to a happily‑ever‑after.

Another delightful and interesting book in the Micklewick Bay series. Florrie Appleton is getting ready to shed her surname and become Florrie Harte in just a few weeks time and is rightly excited, as is her fiance, Ed. They are busy running the Happy Harte's Bookshop that Ed's grandfather left to them when he, sadly, passed away a couple of years earlier. Florrie and Ed have been making improvements on the shop since they took ownership and have been doing their best to make it even more of a success and loved local treasure for those in Micklewick Bay. Everyone loves what they've done ....... except for Ed's (rather evil) parents who generally live abroad, but who have recently settled in London. Ed and Florrie do all they can to avoid the pair, particularly his contumacious mother, Dawn. (And, yes, I did chose that word particularly because it sounds a bit like another 'c word' that suits her all too well!) Much to their dismay the odious woman breezes in to town under the guise of wanting to help with the wedding planning. Both Florrie and Ed are, rightly, concerned that she has more nefarious plans. This story takes you through what all transpires over the course of the next few weeks as the wedding approaches. All the usual wonderful characters are in the story - friends, Jasmine, Lark, Stella, and Maggie, with all their significant others, Max, Nate, Alex, and Bear, as well as bookshop workers, Leah and Jean, and of course Florrie's wonderful parents, Charlie and Paula, and Jean's son and his fiance, Jack and Jenna, both famous authors who frequently hold book readings at the bookstore. This story is well written and will keep your interest with all the goings on for all involved! Does it end with a happily ever after?? .... You'll have to read it for yourself to find out!

Florrie Appleton and her fiancé Ed Harte own and run The Happy Hartes Bookshop. It was originally owed by Ed’s grandparents when Florrie and Ed worked there. They were a wonderful couple and when they passed away, they left the bookshop to Florrie and Ed. This led to a fury from Ed’s cold and calculating parents who demanded that they sell the bookshop and give them the money. But they have worked so hard to improve the place and they have no intentions to give into his parents.

Florrie and Ed are getting married in a few weeks and their friends are throwing several hen parties for her. She has a vintage dress chosen and a friend is making her cake. They are trying to keep the arrangement small and not spend a lot of money on the ceremony.

When Ed’s mother, Dawn, comes to town with her rude and arrogant ways, they wonder what she is up to now. Their home is one that Florrie bought and then Ed moved in with her. At a moment of weakness, he gave Dawn a key and now, he needs to get it back. Florrie has found that the woman has gone into their house and she hopes Dawn has not done something sneaky.

Florrie has a group of close friends and they support her and are excited to plan for her upcoming wedding. But Dawn’s shenanigans threaten to ruin their plans. So, Florrie and Ed must do all they can to stay strong against his evil mother.

Yes, Dawn is one nasty piece of work. Florrie and Ed are shown to have a lot of patience with the woman until they no longer don’t. The friends shown in this book are true to one another and share in life’s ups and downs. This is my first book by this author so I’m not familiar with the other characters from previous books but they are all quite pleasant. An enjoyable Scottish book.

I did not realize until I had already started this book that there are several others in this series. After the fact, I recognize that it probably would have helped for my enjoyment of this book if I had read the others first. While I liked Florrie and Ed, I had moments where I felt like I didn't understand them and the character development was lacking, which I have come to realize may be because I have not read the prior novels. So, if you are picking this book up and haven't read the others, I would recommend putting this one back down until you read those. That all being said, I did enjoy Florrie's relationships with her lasses. This group of women was incredibly heartwarming and clearly love one another. What I didn't like about the book was the way a variety of things in the beginning likely could have been cleared up with better communication. I thought the prank pulled on Florrie and her subsequent stress at the beginning of the book related to her hen party was drawn out for way too long. I also thought a lot of Florrie's stress would have be reduced had she just told Ed what was on her mind. Overall the romance was cute, and I always adore books about books or that take place in a bookshop. I would consider recommending this series to a friend, but would tell them to start at the beginning, not with this particular book.

Thank you to NetGalley and Storm publishing for giving me the opportunity to read this book early!

My goodness, this is a gorgeous book. Since I first met Florrie and her now fiancé, Ed, I have loved everything about Micklewick Bay. From The Happy Harte Bookshop to the tight-knit circle of friends, there is an outstanding sense of community which just leaps from the pages.

Finally, the long-awaited wedding for Florrie and Ed is just a few weeks away, so it’s all systems go as the final plans are put into place. The fun part, without a doubt, is the selection of Hen Dos the Lasses have planned for Florrie. No spoilers, of course, but I loved reading about them, and particularly enjoyed those that crossed over into Lyttle Stangdale – the village featured in the author’s Life on the Moors series. I do love it when characters cross over. However, don’t worry if this is the first book you have read from either series, as each can be enjoyed as a standalone.

Of course, not everything is plain sailing, and it’s no surprise that the couple find themselves navigating more abysmal behaviour courtesy of Ed’s parents. Thankfully, times like those are when friends and communities come to the fore, and seeing them all rally around to help them overcome their challenges is truly heartwarming.

There are updates about many of the characters as the story moves along, and I must admit, I had a sneaking suspicion that this would prove to be our last visit, but a very welcome note from the author confirmed that book eight is definitely in the pipeline.

Eliza J Scott writes from the heart, and her books are absolutely packed with relatable scenarios, even another Ando probably exists somewhere, and each story leaves the reader feeling utterly contented. If you’re new to her work, I can heartily recommend diving in; you’ll not be sorry.

A Wedding at the Little Bookshop by the Sea by Eliza J. Scott is the seventh book in the Micklewick Bay series.

Florrie Appleton and her fiancé Ed Harte are only a few weeks away from their wedding. They are excited about their upcoming big day, and their friends are just as enthusiastic as they plan Florrie’s hen parties. The happy couple are also thrilled with the recent changes they made to their beloved bookshop, especially the beautiful new display they created.

Unfortunately, their happiness is interrupted by the arrival of Ed’s difficult mother, who seems determined to stir up trouble. Will she manage to cast a shadow over their celebrations and get what she wants, or will Florrie and Ed’s love be strong enough to overcome yet another challenge?

This is an adorable small-town romance set in a charming seaside town in Britain. The plot is simple but filled with emotion. There is plenty of warmth and happiness thanks to the close-knit community, but also a fair share of drama caused by Ed’s parents. The combination feels balanced and keeps the story engaging.

I especially enjoyed the little celebrations and the touches of local dialect, which made the setting feel authentic and cozy. My favorite part of the story was the bookshop display, which added a lovely bookish charm to the narrative.

If you enjoy cozy small-town romances with heartwarming community vibes, this book is definitely worth picking up.

A Wedding at the Little Bookshop by the Sea is the seventh book in the Micklewick Bay series. Even though I've only read book 6 prior to this, I didn't feel lost. I will go back and read previous books though, because characters from them appear throughout the series.

Florrie and Ed are excited to marry in a few short weeks. Small wedding, close friends, low stress, and complete organization. That is, until Ed's mother Dawn pops into town to "help" with the planning. Really all she does is cause chaos, and between her rudeness and sneaky behavior, Flossie can't but question Dawn's motives.

I love that during these trying times, Florrie's friends are there to lift her up and the bookshop customers provide their support. Florrie and Ed have a solid relationship but some mothers and mothers-in-law have a way of starting drama. Having emotional support and backup from those outside of the situation assist in keeping things runny smoothly. Florrie and Ed deserve their happily ever after.

The author created wonderful and likable characters. The continued world building brings Micklewick Bay to life. Vivid imagery, flowing conversations, introductions of new characters, and strong relationships really bring this story to life. I was kept engaged in A Wedding at the Little Bookshop by the Sea by the strength of the Florrie and Ed, the romance, and the storyline.

A Wedding at the Little Bookshop by the Sea by Eliza J. Scott is the seventh book in the Micklewick Bay series and revolves around Florrie Appleton and Ed Harte and their book shop, The Happy Hartes Bookshop. The preceding books introduced us to Florrie, Ed, and Florrie’s best friends.

This time around, Florrie and Ed are counting down the days to their upcoming wedding with every detail planned out and arranged. Imagine their surprise when Ed’s mother, Dawn, decides to come and “help” them with their wedding plans. Dawn has made no secret that she doesn’t care for Florrie, so this helpfulness is greeted with suspicion.

I felt Dawn’s shenanigans were over the top and her antics went on just a little too long. Ed should have put his foot down sooner with respect to her invading their space. Dawn’s bringing his ex-girlfriend to town to derail the wedding was too much.

Overall, readers will enjoy the main characters and love Florrie’s four best friends in how they planned four separate hen parties for her. Those events seemed like they would have been fun. If you have not read the previous six books, you need to so that you can learn about each of her friends and how they found love in Micklewick Bay. I love this series and hope we get more books about these people and the town.

A Wedding at the Little Bookshop by the Sea by Eliza J Scott is such a warm, uplifting, and utterly delightful return to Micklewick Bay—I loved every single page. It was so special to be back with Florrie and Ed at their beautiful seaside bookshop, catching up with familiar faces and feeling that wonderful sense of community that makes this series so comforting.

With their wedding just around the corner, there’s a perfect mix of excitement, emotion, and just the right amount of drama to keep things interesting. I especially loved how the story balanced those cozy, feel-good moments with deeper themes of love, friendship, and standing strong for the life you’ve built. Florrie and Ed are such a lovely couple to root for, and seeing their journey continue felt incredibly satisfying.

The bookshop setting, as always, adds so much charm—it truly feels like a place you’d want to step into and never leave. Combined with the supportive friendships and small-town warmth, this story wraps around you like a hug.

Overall, this is a heartfelt, cozy, and emotional read full of love, community, and a touch of drama. A wonderful addition to the series that left me smiling—and already looking forward to more.

✨ I received an ARC; this is my honest review.

A Wedding at the Little Bookshop by the Sea is a lighthearted, heartwarming, and cozy read—the perfect escape for anyone looking for something quick and uplifting.

The story centers on the relationship between Florrie and Ed, which is a true highlight; their strong bond serves as the emotional core of the book. As the quote says, "love is in the air in Micklewick Bay," and it certainly feels that way throughout. I also really enjoyed the focus on female friendships and the added pinch of drama introduced by Ed’s mother, Dawn, which provided just the right amount of tension. Set against a beautiful seaside backdrop and centered around a charming bookshop, it hits all the right notes for a feel-good story.

While the plot is quite predictable and lacks any real mystery, it doesn't distract from the experience; it’s meant to be a relaxing, comforting read. I didn't realize this was part of a series until I started, but it works perfectly as a standalone, though it has left me curious enough to want to go back and read the previous books.

Thank you to Eliza J. Scott, Storm Publishing, and NetGalley for the opportunity to read and review this title.

It was lovely to be back in Micklewick Bay for the 7th book in a series which I am really enjoying.

Florrie and Ed's wedding is just a few weeks away and what they don't need is any hassle. Enter Dawn, Ed's mum and immediately everyone is on high alert.

I really felt for the couple as she wreaked havoc during her stay and could potentially ruin their day. Fortunately they have a strong friendship group and wonderful community around them to help.

I've loved how both Florrie and Ed have developed from when we first met them in Book 1 together with the character development of the rest of their group.

There was so much laughter and banter between the girls, as usual, and I loved the hen do events especially the misunderstandings.

It was such an easy book to read and I went through a lot of emotions whilst reading it. There is certainly plenty of drama but also a whole lot of love, friendship and community spirit.

I thought this may have been the last book in the series but I understand there is another to come. I can't wait to read it. If you get a chance to pick up this series, please do. I don't think you will be disappointed.

Although the story centres on Florrie and Ed during their build-up to their wedding, it also brings together the whole group of friends who have appeared in the first six of the books in the series. Back at the Harte Bookshop, you see what Florrie and Ed have achieved and what a focus for the community it is. Each of 'the lasses' chooses an activity for them all to do to celebrate Florrie's wedding which take you to different parts of Micklewick and shows you how much they all understand Florrie.
Family is a little different in this book. Florrie's parents are as supportive as ever, but the same cannot be said of Ed's parents who have their sights set the Harte Bookshop once again. Ed learns to speak for himself in this story and to tell Florrie what he wants for the future. Full of lovely moments, the presence of Ed's grandparents seems close as they move into their shared future. This is an uplifting and heart-warming read which shows you the best and also the worst of relationships.
In short: life in Micklewick Bay goes on

Florrie Appleton and her fiancé Ed are just weeks away from the book‑themed wedding they’ve always imagined—surrounded by stories, friends, and the cosy charm of their beloved bookshop. But the calm doesn’t last long. Ed’s mother, Dawn, turns up without warning, and from the moment she steps through the door, Florrie’s carefully planned world starts to wobble.

Dawn’s sudden interest in her son’s life feels suspicious, and her meddling—whether it’s criticising the shop or poking around their cottage—adds a layer of tension that Florrie definitely didn’t plan for. With friends and loyal customers rallying around her, Florrie tries to protect both her relationship and the bookshop that means everything to her and Ed.

As always with this series, the charm lies in the familiar faces and the comforting community feel. I’ve read them all and really like the characters, so it was lovely to return to them. This particular instalment was ok for me—not my favourite of the series, but still a pleasant, gentle read with the warmth I expect from these books.

I absolutely loved returning to Micklewick Bay for this instalment. The friendships are such a highlight of this series. They are loyal, warm, and full of the kind of support that makes you wish you could pull up a chair in the bookshop and join them.

Of course, no wedding build-up would be complete without a little drama, and Dawn (the future mother-in-law) certainly provides that. Her attempts to interfere and stir the pot add tension and frustration in equal measure, making you root even harder for Florrie to have the day she deserves.

I do think reading the earlier books in the series really enhances the experience, as there’s a lot of shared history that deepens the emotional impact. While it can be enjoyed on its own, knowing the backstory makes the journey even sweeter.

Overall, this is a lovely, cosy, feel-good read filled with friendship, seaside charm, and sweet non-spice romance.

A warm hug of a read which showcases strong friend groups, sweet romance & a kick her in the teeth mother-in-law!

This book is part of a series which I didn’t know before going into this. There’s no need to read the previous books before diving into this one however, you will miss some “group lore” that further enriched the characters.

You’ll wish you had friends like Florries who both love & support our MFC who, along with her sweet partner Ed, are finalising preparations for their wedding whilst being interrupt by his insufferable parents! I do wonder why they’re even invited…but I digress.

In short, this is a slightly predictable yet warm, cheerful, and well-written story that’s very cosy albeit a little slow paced for me. The story is perfect for a light, comfy read, especially if you enjoy character-driven romance and small town vibes!

The vibes. Cozy, cute, almost whimsical small town you can't help but fall in love with. Reading this book felt like a cozy hug or a warm blanket on a freezing day.

→ Family drama
→ Cozy book/tea shop (literally such a cool element)
→ Supporting small towns + businesses
→ Loyal golden retriever MMC
→ Quite but strong FMC

⭐⭐⭐

This book wasn't quite for me. I think the biggest reason was that the plot didn't seem to move along at a pace that excited me. Despite the sweet, cozy feelings this book gave me (the setting was spectacular), I just didn't want to pick it up. When I was in the book, I was actively reading it. I enjoyed it. Our FMC's friend group was so much fun to be around; they were funny and full of personality.

Important note: this is the 7th book in the series; I probably would have liked it more if I were aware that it wasn't the first book in the series.

enjoyed this book in as much as it's a traditional boy meets girl, falls in love and gets married kind of way. I thought Florrie and Eds characters were portrayed well and you got a feel for all of the friends . It's always lovely reconnecting with characters from the previous books, and this time the build up to the wedding of Florrie and Ed is beginning to cause them some headaches, thanks to family interference! So this is a lovely mix of the sweet side of life, alongside that of what should be the happiest day of their lives being turned into the opposite.

Florrie and Ed are just the sweetest couple, happily running the local bookshop that means so much to them and planning their lives together. But when Ed's parents show up, the trouble making begins and it adds enormous strain to the couple.

I found myself so enraged on their behalf on the behaviour of his parents! But you do see the strength of the community around them helping to distract and ease their worries, and to lighten the mood with some lovely warm moments. A lovely read

There’s nothing worse than a meddling mother-in-law to be
to heighten Florrie’s pre-wedding nerves, or to wreck havoc on a quiet planned wedding.
Ed’s mother was still fuming that Ed wanted to marry Florrie and still scheming to get the Harte Bookstore out from Ed and Florrie. Family drama, break ins, snooping and relentless pressure makes Florrie wonder if she will ever marry Ed. And then there is the unexpected arrival of Ed’s ex-girlfriend!
A sweet book that is fast paced, with a delightful book store, descriptive places and good friends to help love finally win.
Thank you Netgalley and Storm Publishing for the eARC. I received a complimentary copy of this book without remuneration and this review is my own opinion.

Simply awesome! Florrie and Ed's wedding is in three weeks time and they're really looking forward to it. The 'girls' have some great plans for a few hen-dos but there's a bump in the road before Ed and Florrie get their special day. Ed's mum, Dawn, decides to try to derail their plans and makes yet another play at getting her hands on the bookshop. With plenty of support from their friends and Florrie's mum and dad, they're able to put a spanner into Dawn's plans ... again! A wonderful story and I'm delighted that there will be a book 8 in this series. I've really enjoyed all the books so far.
Thanks to Netgalley, Storm Publishing, and Eliza J. Scott for the free ARC. All opinions are my own.

I have LOVED all of the Micklewick Bay books. One of my favorite things is that all these books are on Kindle Unlimited... but after reading #7, I have finally decided I need to purchase them for myself in paperback! The books are so sweet and so freaking pretty. My shelfs need them. This whole series is giving Hallmark movie feels and if you know me, you know I am all in there. This book in particular takes place in a quaint seaside town- the main characters, book shop owner Florrie and her fiance Ed are just weeks out from their perfect literary themed wedding when an literal storm and many figurative "storms" bring all kinds of drama to the scene. I'm not gonna lie... of course we get a HEA with our little wedding by the sea! What a cute book. Also it goes without saying no spice. 4.5
