Jack/Jericho is my OTP, and I have nothing else to say about the matter. Bigfoot is another thrill ride by Jasmine Kuliasha, so once you've buckled in, get ready for twists, turns, hilarious inner monologues, and terrifyingly creepy crawlies.

IT’S TIME! “Bigfoot Confidential” is no longer confidential. This entertaining cryptid tale by Jasmine Kuliasha releases into the wild today. I was lucky enough to get an ARC of this second installment of Jericho James’ life as a Supernatural PI and I liked it even better than the first one (which is saying something). I haven’t sold you yet(i)?

Honestly, I laughed out loud reading this. I rooted for the main characters. I was on the edge of my seat. This is one heck of an enjoyable read. I am definitely going to need more Jericho James in my life.

Bigfoot Confidential isn’t the kind of book I normally gravitate toward, but somehow everything just worked. Jasmine Kuliasha blends cryptids, humor, mystery, and heart into a story that completely won me over.

Jericho James immediately reminded me of Buffy the Vampire Slayer with her sassy quips, witty inner monologues, and the wonderfully campy energy she brings to every investigation. She was so easy to root for, and following her latest case was an absolute delight.

I also loved the monsters Kuliasha chose to feature throughout the story. They were creative, memorable, and I especially enjoyed the lore woven into several of them. It made the world feel richer and left me wanting to learn about even more cryptids.

More than anything, this book was just plain fun. It’s cozy without losing its sense of adventure, funny without trying too hard, and exactly the kind of story I needed. Maybe it was my mood, but every time I picked it up, I can feel my mood lighten up instantly.

Do you need to read The Midnight Pack first? Maybe. This is a brand-new case with a mostly new cast of characters, so it works well on its own. But if you want a better understanding of Jericho James’ special abilities and how everything works, I’d recommend starting with The Midnight Pack.

If you’re looking for a lighthearted supernatural mystery with lovable characters, creative cryptids, and plenty of charm, I’d definitely recommend giving Bigfoot Confidential a chance.

Bigfoot Confidential follows our intrepid hero, Jericho James, as she travels to Washington State to investigate some unusual cattle deaths only to find herself tangled up in a local legend.

This was unfortunately a miss for me, and I'm so sad about it because while I didn't totally love The Midnight Pack, I really enjoyed Jericho as a protagonist and was interested to see more of her adventures. However, I've come away feeling like Jericho left all her brain cells in Maine. I came away from the first book with the impression that while the plot was convoluted and strangely structured, Jericho herself was an intelligent and competent protagonist. She was also a relatable girl's girl who liked to dress nicely and drink wine. But, in Bigfoot Confidential, she makes a series of decisions that simply make no sense and all feel like they're just there to push the plot forward in the direction the author wanted – and that direction was largely sleeping with a sexy cryptid instead of doing literally anything about the case she was working. She also acts completely different for most of it, and a lot of the basic girl stuff that I found charming in the first book is just gone.

This book was also significantly more focused on the romance than the first book, as suggested by the marketing, and I think that was to its detriment. The case premise was really interesting, but it almost immediately gets set aside.

In regard to the romance, I don't think it worked. It's heavily front-loaded in the book, and 90% of Jericho's interactions with her love interest come across as uncanny or cringe. The love interest in particular talks like a Hallmark movie hero, and it reads super unnaturally. This issue is compounded by the fact that they jump to a very high level of intimacy immediately upon meeting, and the love interest's apparent interest or lack thereof in Jericho flip-flops wildly in the first 24 hours of their association. This really feels like a book of two halves – the first half is very much the romance, and the second is where all the plot is. The two are roughly glued together with the most awkward elevator scene I've ever read (Why did the firemen act like cops? Why did Jericho think they were like cops?).

Moving to the plot, I actually did like the investigation in this one. The initial mystery with the cattle is intriguing, but it's handicapped by werewolf politics getting added to the mix almost immediately, and I think the werewolf politics are silly. This meant that the piece of the investigation I liked got relegated to the very last portion of the book, by which point I was just ready to be done.

The werewolf politics also really highlight a world-building issue for me. There are all these cryptids around and they 1) do not know that each other are cryptids, and 2) aren't really cryptids because they're all just guys (hit 'em with your car). I'll leave you to understand that statement as you will because I don't want to spoil anything for those interested in the book. More broadly, I feel like a lot of the world-building around the creatures that exist in this world just doesn't really make sense or mesh together well. The rules around the various creatures seemed to shift and change in whatever way was most useful for the plot in that moment. Also, I feel like despite being about a cryptid investigator, these books just aren't that interested in cryptids.

I feel like this review has been overly negative, so I do want to highlight a few things I did really like:
-There are some moments and lines in here that really made me laugh.
-The foul-mouthed old lady.
-Tosha
-George and his whole deal (and the fact that we don't get a full explanation! Love that.)
-There is a bit of horror in here that made my skin crawl. Very well done!

So, overall, I was disappointed, and I don't think I'll continue with the series (unless there's a really fantastic premise for book 3). That said, I do think a lot of readers who are more into paranormal romance than me, and who actually like the love interest here, will really enjoy this. I hope this book finds its audience.

Thanks to NetGalley and the publisher for the eARC!

I was a lucky ARC reader for Bigfoot Confidential. Without spoilers, here’s why you won’t be able to put it down.

The main character and salty-mouthed heroine extraordinaire, Jericho James, is someone you want to be friends with and root for throughout the entire book. She’s strong, smart, funny, and witty to boot and always hungry (same, girl, same). As someone who has internal dialogue dialed up 24/7, Jericho does as well, and you’ll enjoy getting to know her through her mile-a-minute thoughts. You’ll love the laugh-out-loud moments, pop culture at lightning speed, think Gilmore Girls’ style. She also has a fabulous wardrobe and fun taste in nail polish.

The pace was spot on. It was well balanced between narration, dialogue, excitement/adventure, etc. The fight scenes will keep you on your toes. The author ended each chapter with a hook, which made me, of course, turn the page! “Just finishing this chapter,” always turned into “One a.m. and five chapters later…” And PS, I never guessed who offed the cattle. This was a total and well-done surprise at the end.

A word on spice. The author definitely does her due diligence giving readers a play-by-play, but it complemented the evolving character relationship without overshadowing the plot, which I appreciated. The object of Jericho’s lust is handsome and flirty and ooh-la-la very Matthew McConaughey. You can expect fun witty banter as well as lush sentences, like this: “[His] warm fingers swept the back of my neck as he brushed my hair over my shoulder, sending a spray of tingles sparking across my skin like starlight on the open sea.”

The novel takes place in the Pacific Northwest (I lived in Washington state for years), and the author’s attention to detail shows. From her forest and mountain descriptions to the color of the sky, wildflowers, volcanoes, it’ll make you feel like you’re there (and it made me long to go back). If you love books where the settings feel like characters, you won't be disappointed here.

The animal kingdom facts sprinkled throughout were fascinating but not overdone (I, too, have always had a soft spot for bats). If you’re a science nerd, this aspect of the book will be right up your alley. The author blended these facts with folklore and mythological creatures and monsters in such a way that made you believe anything is possible. Creative imaginations, this is for you.

Overall, this novel was so fun to read, and it was a welcome escape. It’s perfect for a girlies' summer-to-autumn book club gathering with a seafood spread, vibrant nail-polish party favors, and wolf-themed decorations! Total vibes here.

Oh, and one more thing. After reading this book, you’ll never look at trees or hard-boiled eggs the same way again. Don’t say I didn’t warn you. Why? Guess you’ll just have to read and find out.

Jericho James either has the coolest dream job or the world’s most horrific job, I can’t decide.

Supernatural private investigator Jericho gets called to the Mt. St. Helens region in this installment (book 2 of her adventures so far, but I think you could read this one without having read book 1, if you want). Her assignment: find the culprit behind some blood-drained cattle. This leads her into the territory of not only the Sasquatch of the book’s title—no spoilers there really!—but a generous handful of other cryptids too, plus a sexy local guy who might be able to help.

This novel has the same fun vibe as book 1, The Midnight Pack: the irreverence and steamy romantic subplots of Buffy the Vampire Slayer crossed with the spooky, atmospheric creativity of The X-Files. It’s a combo I really like, and as a Pacific Northwest resident, I loved this book even more than the first. (*pats our resident cranky volcano on the head* We love our li’l St. Helens.)

I kept thinking, “Oh, that’s a cool idea!” with each new twist of the supernatural beasties we meet—friend, foe, and in between. I thought the romantic interest was well-handled: swoony and steamy but also [minor spoilers] leaving things suitably ambiguous, as makes sense for Jericho’s personality and her ever-roaming job duties. And it’ll make you want to hike the wildflower-spangled meadows of Washington’s mountains and forests. Even if, like me, you already live here.

5 big and hairy stars!

“I’d never thought about Bigfoot before. Maybe I should have, given my line of work”
That’s where Jericho James and I differ, because I personally think about Bigfoot all the time 🫈

Imagine my surprise when, on an early April day, I saw a book cover featuring Bigfoot that was traditionally published. Still slightly offended Orbit didn’t personally contact me, but whatever.

Enter Bigfoot Confidential and Jericho James, supernatural private investigator.

Truly, this book was SO much fun. It has the perfect balance of mystery, humour, action, and romance, and Jericho continues to be an absolute icon. I want to be Jericho James when I grow up🙂‍↕️

This is the follow-up to The Midnight Pack, aka the book that broke my two-month reading slump. While you can read this one as a standalone, I highly recommend reading The Midnight Pack first for maximum Jericho James Shenanigans™.

If you’re a fan of Supernatural (the TV show AND the beings), cryptids, unsolved mysteries, and/or stories where someone is absolutely determined to investigate the weird thing happening in the woods, I strongly suggest picking this one up.

I will clarify for my fellow monster-fuckers that there is no action while our MMC is in Bigfoot form—trust me I am just as disappointed as you are. But the good vibes of the rest of the book make up for it!

Thank you to Jasmine for sending me an eARC!

Jericho James is back! I was lucky enough to receive an ARC of this book and it did not disappoint. The witty banter is still in book 2. The banter made me laugh out loud! You root for Jericho throughout the book as she solves her way thru this mysterious crime. I was charmed by the MMC and enjoyed this read! Perfect fall vibes with the forest, big foot, and some mystery creatures!

When you’re in the mood for a fun, light-hearted adventure, look no further!! I had a great time with the The Midnight Pack, and an even better time with Bigfoot Confidential. I have to say I felt more connected to both the plot as well as Jericho’s character and interiority in this one.

The writing itself is a joy to read because both Jasmine and her FMC are unabashedly authentically themselves (as they very well should be), leaning into the unfiltered thoughts and curiosities that might go on in a person’s head instead of shying away (as Jericho says, “inquiring minds want to know” and I definitely do.) These inner monologues really made this book for me—what I wouldn’t give to channel JJ’s confidence and optimism.

I especially recommend Jasmine’s writing style for fans of T. Kingfisher. Jasmine’s sense of humor is uniquely her own but she approaches the absurd in a similar way.

I must admit: I have not once in my life thought about Bigfoot before discovering this book was in the works. In light of that, I was not expecting to find them as adorable as I did and loved the lore.

Also, the comparison between Jack and a certain someone pretty much guaranteed I was going to like him (read and find out!).

Oh, and a shoutout to the old lady outside the elevator with her tiny dog. I want to be her when I grow up.

Thank you Jasmine Kuliasha and NetGalley for this ARC.

Thank you, Netgalley, and Jasmine for the ARC!

I had no idea what to expect from this book, but all the laughter (I was literally laughing out loud) and Bigfoot spice were definitely not what I anticipated....and I loved it.

This felt like the perfect read for Twilight lovers like myself who are looking for something lighter, sillier, and a little unhinged. It definitely leans more into comedy (think PNW rom-com vibes) than taking itself too seriously. Some of the action scenes were a little far-fetched for my usual taste, but once I embraced the comedic energy, it completely won me over.

Never did I think I'd be reading about a hairy, hot Bigfoot with golden retriever energy, yet here we are... and I absolutely loved how creative it was. Our FMC is such a baddie, but what I loved most was her inner dialogue. It felt so much more relatable than a lot of fantasy heroines I've read, and she had me laughing throughout. I genuinely felt like we'd be friends, and I love when a book makes me feel that way.

And you can never go wrong with a woodsy PNW setting. I loved reading about so many local places and mountains that felt familiar. Overall, this was such a fun, unique, and quick read!

A big thank you to NetGalley for the ARC! I was dying to get my hands on the second book as soon as possible.

What’s a word to describe feeling terrified and turned on all at once? That’s the word I’m looking for to describe this book. Bigfoot Confidential really cranked up the action in this sequel of Jericho James (and I mean both versions of “action”). It’s a good thing I don’t wear cute nail polish like Jericho because this book had me biting my nails after every chapter from either spice or suspense! There’s also a healthy dash of comedic quips from our protagonist that had be audibly laughing out loud on the couch.

Jericho is bolder and sassier than ever trying to solve her latest case in the mountains of Washington where there are more than just men with big feet roaming around. I seriously want this woman to be real and be my best friend forever. She is a QUEEN!

I thought I knew where this story was going, but boy was I wrong. Kuliasha’s writing kept me second guessing all the way until the very end. There is so much packed into this book. I felt like I binged watched an entire tv series with how much the story twisted and turned.

This was such an enjoyable action-packed read and I already can’t wait for the 3rd book to come out!

WOW!! If you thought that The Midnight Pack was full of suspense, mystery, and excitement... triple that and then you'll get the levels of suspense, mystery, and excitement in Bigfoot Confidential! There are a few elements to Jasmine's writing that I absolutely love, that are consistent in both books:

1. Jericho's inner monologue - HILARIOUS
2. The amount of real-life awkward moments - LOVE
3. The element of Found Family - it is so endearing.

Jasmine has a way of taking these "unbelievable" paranormal creatures and making them real to the reader, which is truly a gift. This book was so fun to read. If you love paranormal suspense/mystery, some romance sprinkled in, found family, and adventure... This one is for you!

*I would like to include, if you are sensitive to any small elements of "scary" things, just be warned that it does get a LITTLE BIT scary at the end... however, I am a self-declared scaredy cat and I survived to live another day after finishing it and loved it!

The first Jericho James installment was a shot of joy straight to the veins. This one? Well, Jasmine Kuliasha found the secret sauce for a banger sequel and double dipped.

In book 2 the case is weirder, the suspects wilder, and the spice much spicier (like I said, *banger*). In short, I loved it. Let me count the ways:
✔️cackle-in-public humor
✔️fascinating cryptid lore
✔️simmering romance
✔️side characters worth going to war for

Bigfoot Confidential is a truly delightful ride from start to finish. For those who love the vibe of Supernatural, Buffy, and the episodic monster-of-the-week goodness found in X-files, this series will feel like coming home.

Absolutely recommend and can’t wait to see what kind of pun-slinging, axe-wielding, shifter-kissing shenanigans Jericho will be up to in book 3!

ARC review 🪓

Oh, Jericho, I’ve missed you girlfriend 🤣 this book was magical, not because there’s literal supernatural creatures and enhanced abilities, but because of the pure joy it is to read Jasmines writing. The pacing is perfect, the characters are endearing, the setting is such a VIBE, and it’s laugh out loud funny. Jericho James is nothing if not a complete badass and incredibly relatable. I couldn’t get enough.

And Jack is exactly the Sasquatch we all needed. I loved his golden retriever energy and his chemistry with Jericho was off the charts. If you need me, I’ll be trekking the woods of Washington trying to relive this experience 🤣

Thanks so much for letting me read, Jasmine. This was excellent 🤍

Stepped outside my usual genres for this one and so glad I did! This book is sharp, nerdy, and somehow lighthearted in the face of high stakes. I love the badass woman archetype, the “whodunnit” plot, the multicultural folklore, and the suspense!! Several scenes near the end get your heart pumping in the best way. I can see it as a tv show like buffy or supernatural. Definitely worth the read, i think it would be fun to listen to with your spouse on a road trip or solo on the beach.

Chaos and Understanding

Chaos and Understanding

Those two words sum up this book. At first, I found the chaos more annoying than intriguing. Then Jericho spotted human eyes in one monster, and a severed hand from different monster morphed into a human hand. I was pulled in from there.

I love it when a book has layers upon layers plus multiple plot roundabouts until finally you find yourself in a clearing with all the characters who have become one in purpose. They have very different natures, but through the events of the book, they now know a whole lot more about themselves and one another. As a wise wolf shifter summed it up (paraphrasing): "You are not a monster; you are a very powerful being."

Jericho remains a nomad, but she is clearly connected to her original pack in Maine, her pack that is en route to Colorado, and the supernatural friends she now has in Washington state. Jericho did not shift after the lycan serum, but something in her is changing. So is it "never"? Or simply "not yet"?

By the way...content:
There is some moderately detailed open door intimacy. I found it uncomfortable, actually, because it tossed me out of the flow of monster hunting and new friends and the cow mystery that I was so wrapped up in.

Most of all, I loved that these powerful people came to fully accept one another, get through a deadly crisis together, and form lasting bonds. That's my kind of happily ever after!

Have a good read!

A friend told me about this book, she is friends with the Jasmine Kuliasha and as an ARC Reader she gave it high praise. So when it was released on KU, I added it to my account and within a few days of release I was reading it. I have not read book 1 in this series, but this is a standalone from information I gathered.

It's a fast and fun read, lots of unique arcs within the story and while you think you know what's going to happen, you don't. There's some open door spiciness, but it is mild in comparison to many "romance" themed books. I did enjoy all the characters in this book and the fun banter between them. Also the descriptions of the PNW are perfect. The author notes at the end how she did use factual bits to weave into this story. Those did add to the overall story and character development.

Jericho James is back in action! This time aided by her newly enhanced abilities, and aided by the sexiest of Bigfoots, she's burning a terrifying new creature in Washington state. The mysteries and monsters, spice and snark keep coming and coming strong in this one. ;) Jericho continues to be strong, resourceful, and determined, to find the bad guys, save her own ass from the trouble she gets herself in, and carve her own path forward.

Readers of the first book will not be disappointed to be sure, and you could even pick it up as a standalone and easily follow it. Jack was a delightful cinnamon role, and the new pack are an intriguing addition, too. Can't wait to see what's up next for Jericho!

I really enjoyed this book, but I especially wanted to comment on the opening because it was phenomenal. It hooked me instantly and is one of the strongest openings I've read in a long time. The chase, the river, it was all so cleverly written. The dialogue felt natural, the banter between the characters was spot on, and the pacing was perfect. While I enjoyed the entire book, it was the opening sequence that really stood out. It was original, exciting, and had me completely invested from the very first page. I honestly found myself wishing I could step into that world because it was so much fun to experience than the day id had at work

Jericho James is a supernatural investigator who made a living proving the supernatural didn’t exist until she ran into a pack of werewolves that she now works for. Jasmine Kuliasha sends her to the Mount Rainier area where something is sucking blood out of cattle and not leaving footprints. Bigfoot Confidential(paper from Orbit) is about fighting a monster, but the monster is not a bigfoot, several of which show up. It’s not about a lost werewolf pack that had moved into the area. It isn’t even about a giant vampire bat. No, Jericho has to face something far more evil and practically unkillable. This is a fun series and I look forward to more adventures.

This book was so much fun to read and perfect in time for fall!! Jericho James has some of the best wry humor that makes me want to live in her head. I laughed and chuckled my way through this entire book. And the way Jasmine Kuliasha blends lighthearted comedy with heart racing creepy suspense and life threatening situations blows my mind. The vivid PNW setting and underrepresented cryptid romantic interest was such a breath of fresh air. I can’t wait to read more of Jericho’s supernatural investigations!

This book wasn’t 100% right for me. I love the idea but for some reason it just couldn’t keep my attention as much as monster hunter/monster themed books usually do. With all of that being said I liked Jericho, I liked her personality, and I’d be open to read more books by the author. (side note I didn’t know this was the second book so I’d be interested to read the first one.)
