Victor's entire existence is dependent on caution and control. Every move is carefully considered. He avoids risks. He manages consequence. Completing a kill is one thing, but getting away with it and avoiding his many enemies is another entirely. He is an assassin-for-hire, and yet staying alive is a full-time profession.
Although not one for doing favours, he takes his debts seriously. So when the person who recently saved his life asks for help, he drops everything to pay what he owes. Besides, all he has to do is help out an elderly woman being harassed by a smalltime money lender who wants her to settle early.
Making a loanshark back off is no hardship for the world's most dangerous killer, but delaying his current contract puts him on a blacklist with a client who tolerates no mistakes. If Victor doesn't deliver on his commitment, he's going to be next in the firing line.
As the supposedly simple task becomes far more complicated than even Victor could have predicted, he must decide what's more the target on his back or repaying the favour. Worse still, his personal mission threatens to unearth a part of himself he buried long ago...

Thank you so much to Netgalley for giving me this free advance copy, and I’m writing this review honestly and without bias
Tom Wood is seriously at the top of his game as he once again unleashes Victor for his latest adventure. Victor does what Victor does best but this time it's personal. A great move by the author to once again give us a different spin on his tried and tested formula. From start to finish the pace is relentless, the plot perfectly executed and the attention to detail on weapons and places is sublime. The chapters with 2 men, a boat and an ocean full of bull sharks is just superb and had me completely riveted. There's not a page or chapter wasted in this book and an outstanding ending just keeps me wanting more of this fantastic series. A flawless five star read
