A mutilated body surfaces in Florida's Myakka River. Everyone calls it a gator attack. They're wrong.
The wounds tell a different story — murder, deception, and a weapon that should not exist.
What starts as a weekend getaway turns into something far darker when buried land deals, century-old grudges, and crimes from Florida's lawless Prohibition era begin surfacing one by one. And someone is willing to kill to keep them buried.
Now a hurricane is bearing down on the coast. The swamp is rising. Escape routes are closing. And the killer knows it.
The storm isn't the most dangerous thing closing in.
A propulsive Florida swamp noir where the gators aren't the most dangerous thing in the water.
It sucks you in from the first page. The characters, the plot, the suspense, the flow of the whole story, it's all phenomenal. I am off the read the first two books now!!
Really enjoyed this book!! Loved the local color and feel of the area. Highly recommend this book, and I am looking forward to reading the first two by this author. 😊
Really enjoyed this book and couldn’t put it down. I live in the area and the descriptions of the sights, sounds and smell was spot on. I’d bet the author has been to Snook Haven.
I like the descriptions of the Myaka River, the area around it and the storms. The mystery and the actions scenes were well written. I plan to recommend this book to my Sarasota book groups.
Living not far from where the story took place made the story special. Covered everything from the Myaka, gators, mosquitoes and more. Can't wait for the next book.
