I had such a fun time reading this book—and honestly, a huge part of that is because I read it from the perspective of the villains. I don’t think I was supposed to be rooting for them the whole way through, but they were so well written that I couldn’t help it. The depth, cleverness, and sheer cunning of the more villainous side of the story completely stole the show for me.

I really enjoyed how the book is structured around the “good vs bad” conflict, especially as the lines begin to blur (without getting spoilery). Watching those moral boundaries shift was one of the most entertaining parts of the story, and it added a lot of intrigue and tension. The majority of the book is genuinely gripping, and I was hooked for most of it.

I was also rooting for Bella from page one. I wanted her to heal, to grow, and to truly find herself, and her self-development journey was one of the strongest elements of the book. That said, I do feel like there was room for just a tiny bit more emotional depth—particularly when it comes to fully exploring the weight of where she started versus where she ends up. It’s a big moment, and I would’ve loved to sit in that emotional impact just a little longer.

Overall though, I’m really happy with this read. I had a really, really fun time, loved the darker elements, and the ending left me desperately wanting book two… even though it’s not out yet (and might not even be finished?). Either way, I need it soon.

A strong, entertaining debut that especially shines when it leans into the morally grey and villainous side of the story.
