Spencer Polanski is an embalmer at her family-owned funeral home. Perfect job for a vampire, really. Especially one who's sans a working schnoz. That’s right. She has a bum nose. A plus when preparing the dead for eternal slumber—a big fat zero when it comes to sniffing out your true life mate.
Devoid her sense of smell, it’s business as usual when a clueless Spencer meets Larkin McBride. The detective's at Polanski’s to attend the wake of his best friend when he discovers something very unusual…
He can hear Spencer’s every thought.
Her every vampire thought.
So what’s “Detective McYummy” to do when the luscious Miss Polanksi’s thoughts are consumed by the body count in her sleepy town…and the possibility that the murderer could be one of her own kind?

Fast, super sexy, and fun, fun, fun! Interesting premise. Vamps who own a funeral parlor. Studly cop love interest, sweet, and spunky girl vamp, who embalms ? Great love match. Altogether great read!
I've seen this book a couple of time just never picked it up to read it and I'm glad I did because it was kind of cute. They own a funeral home Spencer their daughter is the embalmer. When anybody comes in she has to go in and do the work because she has no sense of smell. During the week of one of her last customers and then ask her what she means when he helps her when she almost falls. When she realize she hasn't said anything to him and realizes that he is reading her mind she becomes worry. Larkin is a detective it is it was his friend Alan that died. Something didn't seem right to him because Alan wasn't the time to commit suicide. We had more important things to figure out like how he could hear voices in his head one anyway and what did she mean by vampire ..as of all of her books I enjoy this just as much as the rest.
I don't do book reviews........ I read the book and if I liked it I give it up to 5 stars, if I didn't then it gets a 2, if I didn't finish then it's a 1, that's it I'm afraid.
I read it, I like it, I want more from the author.
As with a vast number of Kindle books there might be the odd spelling and punctuation errors. After reading well over 300 Kindle books of all types and subjects you get use to them and they become less noticeable, unless they effect the story.
This tried way too hard to be funny. Inconsistent info on turning, and hello her cousin had a human for a licensed but she couldn't figure out he was hers? Also she knew mates could read minds but didn't get it? Nope. She knew Joffrey was a vamp but didn't connect him as the bad guy, and on!y other vamp in town?

I love Dakota Cassidy's writing, whether it's her sweet and cozy stories or her fun and spicy (like this one) ones. They always make me smile. In this one, you get a combo of spicy paranormal romance and paranormal mystery. I often find paranormals that aren't cozy too dark in their subject matter, but that wasn't the case with this one. It was just lots of fun.
Major offense for Christians and major graphic sex to the point of boredom and turn off. Also kinda lame and lacking logic in places. No more Dakota Cassidy for me.
Witty banter with an intriguing plot that makes you want to read without stopping. Love this author's work and I am looking forward to more of this series.
Two big issues. A vampire is killing men and the only vampires around are the heroine's family. She knows it isn't any of them. Well there is that creepy vampire stranger who was at the first victim's funeral and the bar where the victims went but it NEVER occurs to the heroine or detective that it could be him.
How do you make a new vampire? One bite and presto-chango ten seconds later you have insta-vamp. Taa daa!
I don't think I've ever read a book by this author that I've not liked. It had humor, paranormal, mystery, etc. Very good. Fun read. Recommend this one.
