So far, retirement has been good to this hidden Legend. Well, aside from all of the mystery and mayhem…
Orin Ironfinger just wants to enjoy his work.
He may have been feared and revered all over the world as a Legendary Barbarian, but now he’s eager to settle into his small yet important life as a blacksmith. Unfortunately, Orin’s long-awaited dream of a quiet retirement keeps getting interrupted by the echoes of his past.
And quite a few mischievous Small Gods.
Still, he wouldn’t trade these somewhat chaotic days in the quaint hamlet of Havenhold for anything. And it doesn’t matter who comes looking for him now…
He for damn sure won’t allow anything or anyone to threaten his new friends or his cozy little home.
I enjoyed this book a little more than the first one. This one was more about Orin, his quests and smithing and less about his time with Rhea and romance. I enjoy seeing his growth a learning about who he is now while learning more about his past. Im definitely waiting for book 3.
Just the premise of an extremely high level barbarian warrior trying to retire is funny. The story itself doesn't really have comedy but it does have unique magic and some fights. A wide array of township citizens and a mixture of denizens and deities and quests helps to keep the story moving.
I read the first book over two days, this one took me a day and a half. I can't wait for number three, because you know it's just getting good. Still makes me happy, I love the characters and the actual sense of found family that the books give. So yeah, read this one as well.
Having fun with this series. I didn’t even know this type of literature existed till I read the library system reset series, and now I’m addicted. Some are not well done, but this one is really good.
I love this style of genre. This blends a superb storytelling, without stats overload. The pace is excellent, the characters authentic. Now I have to wait (groan) for the next book. Very well done!
This was truly a wonderful continuation to the series. The only thing I would change is that I want it to be longer as its left me with a craving that I know will be hard to fill with other books. With this I've officially read all of Max Vale's cozy litrpgs and I'm dying for more
