When Sparks Ignite

Rate this book
One collision. One spark. One connection that changes everything.

Alex Curtis-Smith has everything money can buy — wealth, power, and a glittering life high above the city. What he doesn’t have is connection. Trapped behind expectations and privilege, he’s learned how to survive without being seen.

Apollo Terry on the other hand is barely surviving. A struggling artist working endless shifts just to make rent, he’s learned how to disappear in plain sight. Serving drinks to the elite was never supposed to change his life — until one accidental collision brings him face to face with Alex.

Their attraction is immediate. Electric. Impossible to ignore. But when desire crosses lines of wealth, power, and class, nothing is simple.

As stolen meetings turn into something deeper, Alex and Apollo must confront their fears of imbalance, vulnerability, and of wanting something that feels dangerously out of reach. Because falling in love is easy, fighting the world that comes with it is not.

Hi I'm Dylan, a rising voice in the MM romance category!

I'm mostly known for writing stories that balance heat, heart, and the tangled beauty of desire and connection. I'm a native of the Pacific Northwest, and I grew up surrounded by misty coastlines and diverse, creative communities that continue to inspire my work. I have a a background in business and marketing, and I aim to bring both precision and passion to my storytelling. I love crafting stories that are as emotionally honest as they are irresistibly steamy. My writing tends to explore the many ways people find and fight for, connection. When I'm not writing, I'm usually in my Seattle apartment, cooking something indulgent and letting inspiration strike between playlists and cups of coffee.

My latest series, Little Worlds, invites readers into an intimate, magnetic romance world filled with hidden desires, intense passions, and the kind of love that lingers long after the last page.

A beautifully written slow-burn romance with real emotional depth. The chemistry builds naturally through quiet moments and genuine connection, making the payoff incredibly satisfying. Tender, heartfelt, and deeply human, this story explores loneliness, vulnerability, and love across very different worlds. I couldn’t put it down.

A very touchingly written tale, two young men, one a billionaire, the other taking any job he can get. Both are struggling but for different reasons, and a gentle friendship slowly develops, a friendship they both desperately needed, a friendship that slowly becomes something more. It's very short but oh so sweet. The only part that bothered me was the slightly abrupt ending.

4⭐️

-short read
-opposites attract
-insta love vibe

I only gave When Sparks Ignite 4 stars because it was such a short read. I would have loved to get to know the characters Apollo and Alex a little more, but the story was cute, with a possible HEA (I’m assuming 🤞🏻)

Opposites Sometimes Align Perfectly -
This story is a perfect mix of humour, soul-searching, perseverance, drama and passion, that came together beautifully in this gripping tale. The main characters were loveable, yet chaotic in a charming way, that had them going through a rollercoaster of emotions, before finally acknowledging their feelings for each other. This author is new to me and I must say it’s been a pleasure reading the story. If you are looking for your next entertaining read, then look no further than this fabulous read, that will entertain you. I am looking forward to reading more books from this author.

I received an advanced review copy of this book and I am voluntarily leaving a review.

For a debut novella this was really good. These two maybe from opposite sides of the track but who cares, they are adorable together. My only complaint about this book was it ended too soon, I’m a greedy reader and want more of these two lol. I’ll be looking for more books from Dylan in the future. 🖤🔥🎨🔥🖤

My favorite quote from Apollo:

But somewhere in the chaos of that glittering party, his path was about to collide with someone else's. Someone who was just as lost as he was, just in a different way. Neither of them knew it yet.

But when sparks ignite, you can't predict where the fire will spread.

HFN with all the feels

This was a short story detailing a slow burning romance between the MCs. Although they are from different economic backgrounds, they connect in all the ways that matter. Dylan Morrison is a new author, but I'm looking forward to his future work. Give him a try if you enjoy stories that explore themes of loneliness and the uncertainty of a new relationship.

I adored this story! Alex and Apollo had great chemistry and the relationship between them was an enjoyable one to delve into. The characters were endearing and the internal battles each of them faced were things anyone could identify with.
I highly recommend this short story.
I can't wait to see what else comes from this author!

This was so real feeling. Yes it’s short and more of a HFN but you get the slow build up of trust and the start of love. Sweet, tender, and raw with the heat of a new relationship at its cusp. I would love to see this be a full on HEA. I see this author going far. I know I want to read more of their work and hope they keep writing.

4.5 stars. Have you felt that "eyes meet across a crowded room" connection with a stranger, someone you don't know, but can't forget? Someone you need to know, you have to know, even though you might have nothing in common? I've been fortunate several times in my life to have this mysterious bond, and I've always been grateful. This well- written story is about that, soul connection and undeniable attraction, a gift from the universe. May we all be as fortunate.

First of all I thank the author for the "giveaway".
I must say that the genre is not one of my favourite (gay, lesbian or bissexual) still I like to read and I'm open to this new generation of writers...
In short:
-- the book is about a couple of the same gender but, like any other couple, they must go through all the exploration phases to know one-another and see if they are really compatible, not only in the physical way...
(attraction and chemistry can play a very important part but friendship, active communication and respect are much more important if the relationship is to survive for a life time)
-- they identify the loneliness inside each other and reach to explore possibilities; in the process they fall in love and consummate their love...

The book is well written and have some deep layers of understanding the human condition, in life nothing is black-and-white!

So, yes, I recommend the book!
