The Way of Surrender

Rate this book
Most of us spend our lives striving—striving for success, security, and control. But beneath our restless efforts we discover a quiet truth: peace begins with surrender. The Way of Surrender invites readers to discover that truth in their own deeply personal way through the situations and circumstances of their lives.

In this profound spiritual guide, Vic Clesceri explores what it means to let go of fear, release the illusion of control, trust God’s timing, and live from a place of deep interior freedom. Drawing on centuries of Christian wisdom, he distills the quintessential challenge of the spiritual life into fifty short maxims.

Through these reflections, readers are led gently and firmly into the heart of surrender: the moment we stop insisting on our own way and begin to believe in God’s way. Each maxim is a practical meditation on how to live a surrendered life through the daily events of our lives. Surrender is not weakness, failure, or defeat. It is the highest expression of trust. It is a path to peace and the antidote for our anxious age.

Surrender allows us to walk calmly through the inevitable uncertainties of life, confident that God is writing a story far greater than we can imagine.

Accessible, encouraging, and profoundly moving, The Way of Surrender is a companion for anyone seeking spiritual clarity in a busy, noisy, anxious world. Whether you read one maxim a day or all fifty in a single sitting, this book will meet you where you are and gently lead you to where God is calling you to be. Along the way, you will joyfully encounter the ups and downs of life knowing that God is working all things for your good.

It’s time to give God your plans, your hopes and fears, your timing, and your need to control. You will be amazed what God gives you in return.

Not only is this book inspirational and motivational, it is educational. Reading this book and praying about each maxim teaches me where I need to better "Let go and let God. " Being a human is hard, but being a Christian in our world is even harder. If you desire a more Christian led life with a deeper relationship with God, read this book. Don't just read it once, use it as a resource to guide you back to Him. Afterall, we were each created with unique gifts and talents for a specific purpose.

This book ties nicely to the assessment. The assessment provides great feedback on how you perceive your surrender journey. It also provides guidance to complete surrender. I am grateful for this book and will continue to highly recommend it!

I have ordered the second book, "Seasons of Surrender," and cannot wait to read it!

Gets terribly repetitive after about 20 chapters. Sometimes it verbatim repeats what it said in a prior chapter. This easily could have been 20 (30 at most) chapters. 50 was just way too many. I made some notes and spiritual reading is always beneficial even if it’s not my favorite book ever. I do appreciate that each chapter is 2-3 pages long, making it easy to digest and reflect, especially during Holy Hours.

I've read part of the book, and as other viewers have said, it is very repetitive. What I find to be disturbing is the fact that in the preface it indicates that you need to take the survey. When you go to the survey site all it will do is ask for your email address. Consequently or not, I have started receiving a lot of junk mail since I signed up. If you're supposed to take an assessment before you read the book, and the assessment doesn't exist, what's the purpose?

Took my time reading one chapter per day and felt God's Spirit speaking to me. The book helps you to dig deep and really address whether you are as submissive to His will as you think you are.
Loved it and would highly recommend!
