time is a book of photography and poetry pairings curated to inspire new perspectives. It is the third book of photography and poetry from Antoinette LeCouteur and Peter J Dudley, following up their inspiring release of together in 2023 and their second book, twist in 2024. In those books, all the poetry was inspired by the photographs. In time, the pairings are a mix of poetry inspired by photography and photography selected to match the poem. We challenge you to guess which came first in each pairing.
Antoinette sees the world in ways many people do not, and she captures that view through photographs she takes with her phone. It may be a drop of dew glistening on a blade of grass in a friend's lawn, or a bee asleep in a flower. The photographs in this book have been selected to represent feelings associated with the concept of and realities of time.
Peter's poetry tends toward themes of longing, humor, loss, and impermanence. Each poem tells an intriguing or humorous story that invites the reader to think deeply and find new layers of meaning upon each reading. The poems in this book were selected for the way they may prompt the reader to examine their relationship with time.
Each photo and each poem stands as a piece of art on its own. Together, each pairing creates a third piece of art that further enriches the reader's experience.
Peter rarely uses his electrical engineering degree from UC Berkeley these days. Instead, he writes adventure and fantasy fiction, short stories, and poetry for people with a sense of adventure (or a sense of humor). He has a day job as an executive in Corporate Social Responsibility, running a huge corporate volunteer program and the nation's largest employee charitable giving campaign. In his career, he's worked on the first smart phone, the first PDA, and the first stealth bomber. A Connecticut native, he has been in the San Francisco area for most of his life and is the proud father of two fantastic kids: one is an Eagle Scout and the other is a transgender woman.
