A fire that changes everything. A coastal ranch in danger. Three sisters risking everything for truth, for family, for love.
When Charley Garrett wakes to the smell of smoke, flames are already climbing the walls of her parents’ ranch house. By dawn, her father is in a coma, her mom is reeling, and their home is gone. With Shorelight Ranch hanging by a thread, Charley has to hold everything together. To do that, she will have to lean on Ray, the loyal foreman she has kept at arm’s length, and admit she cannot face this alone. She will need her sisters.
Vicky built an impressive corporate career in Manhattan, but after her divorce and a sudden dismissal, raising two teenagers with no job is more stressful than she will ever admit. In Portland, Nicole is trying to hold things together as a reporter and mom while her marriage slowly falls apart.
Now they’re back in Lighthouse Landing, where tensions flare, and unexpected sparks make everything more complicated. With an official report blaming their mother for the blaze and their father’s future uncertain, the Garrett sisters must stand together to uncover what really happened that night, or risk losing the ranch, the truth, and their own second chances for love.
The Hope We Keep, Book One in the Lighthouse Landing series, is a heartfelt, later-in-life, clean small-town beach read about family, starting over, and the secrets that can either shatter us or bring us home.

About the Set on the California coast and filled with later-in-life heroines, big-hearted heroes, slow-burning romances, and a mystery stretching across six books, this is the perfect series for fans of Hope Holloway and Fiona Baker.
If you enjoy sister-centered sagas, coastal ranches, loyal dogs, and long-buried secrets, you’ll feel right at home in Lighthouse Landing.
I read the second book first, which was fine but now I understand so much more. I was able to read about the fire that almost killed their parents, the pathetic fire investigation, the slow burn romances for each of the sisters... Charley(Ray), Nichole(Luke), Vicky(Warren), how happy their kids are to be on the farm, even during these stressful times ...
There's a lot going on, was this arson?
I enjoy the family relationships, and their interactions with the town citizens in Lighthouse Landing. I also like that the narrative comes from almost everyone, hopefully in the future, even Kenneth - their father will get a voice.
“To family,” she announced. “Blood and otherwise.” Ray tapped his bottle against hers. “To family.”
But what if your family ties aren't as strong as they used to be? Charlene ( Charley) Nicole ( Nickels) and Victoria ( Vicky) grew up in Lighthouse Landing but Nicole and Vicky had left to have lives of their own while Charley stayed with her parents and helped run the ranch. Until…. a fire burnt her parents house down sending her father into a coma and bringing the family albeit reluctantly, back together.
Single Charley, separated Nicole with her daughter Jade and divorced Vicky and her two kids come together to solve the mystery of the fire and reconnect with their roots to a point. The mystery grows deeper as the pieces don't quite fit together and everyone has to work together to figure things out when Vicky then may have gotten too close and almost dies. Just who or what is actually going on and what's that old ledger got to do with it?
Author Megan Jacobs work shines with wonder as each series she begins draws you in like a moth to a flame that is extinguished just before the light reflects where to go from here. I can hardly wait to read the next book in the series. Highly Recommended 5/5
[ Disclaimer: t received this book as a gift from the author. However in no way did it affect my reading or this review
The Hope We Keep begins the Lighthouse Landing series with an introduction to the sisters we’ll follow as they navigate an unexpected family disaster, a mystery to solve, and the changes that eventually come to us all. While Charley survived the ranch fire, she is determined to discover what really happened. Vicky and Nicole have returned home to Lighthouse Landing after the blaze that destroyed their family home, and the mystery surrounding it has far-reaching repercussions for them all.
I enjoyed The Hope We Keep. It’s well-written, emotional, with an underlying tension that kept me flipping pages and wanting more. The sisters are so very different, as we all are when our life experiences play a heavy hand in who we turn out to be… life isn’t always fair. Getting to understand them and watching how they relate to each other was intriguing. While this first book did have world-building, as one would expect with a projected six-book series, I didn’t find it overwhelming. In fact, my curiosity has been fully engaged now, and I’m looking forward to the next story to learn more about this family, as it seems the mystery deepens. I’d definitely recommend it, especially if you enjoy being immersed in family quirks and interesting dynamics.
*I received an e-ARC of this novel from the author or the author’s team via Booksprout, and I sincerely thank them for their trust. It is my choice to leave a review giving my personal opinion about this book.*
The Hope We Keep (Lighthouse Landing - Book 1) is a family drama involving three sisters and family. By Megan Jacobs, the beginning event drew me right into the story, a fire at the family ranch house. Charley is the first to realize her parents’ home is on fire, since she lives on the ranch in her own cottage. Her sisters and their children return to the ranch to help. These three sisters couldn’t be more different but by the conclusion of this book they have joined forces to help, putting aside their differences of which there are many.
I was surprised to find that the story concludes with no real answer to how the fire stated. Then there are more dangerous events happening but no clues as to who or why. There are also romantic relationships hinted at forming. A great introduction to the family members, ranch, and community with the major problems still unresolved. I am hoping it is not long until book two in this series is available since The Hope We Keep ended with several cliffhangers.
This is a series starter. there are six books in this series. The book does have a cliffhanger.
Charley lives on her parent's ranch and is woken by the smell of smoke. She runs out and gets her mom out and a ranch hand, Ray, gets her dad out. Her dad ends up in a coma. Charley calls her two sisters to come home. What happened with the fire? Did it happen because of owner error or was it arson? There is tension among the sisters and secrets. Can they work together to figure it out?
This story is about family and community dynamics. You are pulled in trying to figure out if this is owner error or arson. And can the sisters get closer? They've gone their separate ways and it seems their father is the one who held the family together. There are possible romances on the horizons. It'll be interesting to see how the next book plays out.

Charley Garrett, one of three sisters, runs the Shorelight Ranch in Lighthouse Landing with her parents Kenneth and Eleanor. Early one morning she is woken by the smell of smoke and discovers her parents house on fire helped by farmhand Ray they get them out but things aren't good her father is unconscious and her mother accused of setting the fire. She reaches out to sisters Nicole and Vicky to tell them the news and that they are needed at home, Nicole heads straight away with her daughter but Vicky doesn't have the time until her own world is rocked and suddenly she's heading home with her two kids to Lighthouse Landing and her sisters.
This story has plenty going on, family entanglements, teenage angst, past and present, danger and a side order of romance. Good yarn that has me eager to read the next instalment.

Edge of your seat start of a new series The Garrett sisters are unexpectedly (and reluctantly on Vicky’s part) reunited when there is a crisis on the family ranch. Despite their initial animosity, followed by a pact to be honest with one another, each sister is still hiding a potentially life-changing secret. Ms Jacobs has written an engaging introduction to her new series which encompasses the whole Garrett family and the residents of Lighthouse Landing. A nerve-wracking plot, which begins with false accusations and includes deadly threats to the family, this book will keep readers waiting for justice! Not quite a cliffhanger ending, but it is essential to read the next book in order to discover the family’s decisions. This is a griping emotional family story, and the first book of the Lighthouse Landing series. After a family disaster where the ranch house is burned down. We meet the three sisters. Charley, the eldest had managed to save her mother, while Ray (ranch hand) gets her father out. He is hospitalized in serious condition and in a coma. Both of Charleys sisters, Vicky with her two children and Nicole with her daughter come home to California. Though the also bring their own personal problems and drama. This book has it all drama, mystery (who set the fire) and romance. I am eagerly awaiting the third book in the series. I highly recommend this book and the second one in the series that I have already read. I received and ARC of this book via BookSprout and I am voluntarily leaving my review.
The Hope We Keep is a story about a family, a ranch, 3 sisters who have to develop new friendship ties after their ranch home is taken by a fire that left their father in a coma. Each woman faces a different problem and they have difficulty in acknowledging it and accepting their share of guilt, hopefully the fact that alll three of them are together again at the ranch will bring them closer and enable them to overcome their problems as well as solve the ones concerning the ranch, their parents, and the older sister. The story has family banter, romance, distress upon facing sickness, loss, community ties, and realization that sometimes people just do not realize what they have. Looking forward to reading the next installment in this series. I thank Ms. Jacobs for this ARC.
THE HOPE WE KEEP, by Megan Jacobs is the first book in the Lighthouse Landing Series. This captivating story grabs your attention and doesn’t let go! The intriguing storyline combines raw and realistic family dynamics with drama, mystery, suspense, and the possibility of budding romance. What more could you want?💕
The mystery has so many interesting twists and turns, I started writing down subtle clues so I could keep track of who might be behind all the trouble the family is going through. Of course, the story continues, so I can’t wait! Check it out for yourself!
Thank you to this talented author for the opportunity to read an advanced copy. I’m voluntarily giving my honest opinion.
The Hope We Keep is the first book in the Lighthouse Landing series which is an intriguing and suspenseful romance that starts with a fire at Charley's parents ranch house where she and their ranch hand, Ray, rescue her parents. Kenneth, Charley's father was the last rescued and was found comatose and needing hospitalization. Charley notifies her sisters, Nicole and Vickey, to come home to help. The start of this series has well defined characters, family dysfunction, drama, mystery, questionable fire cause, and potential romance. This well written book grabs your attention right away and does have a cliffhanger leading to the second book.

Charley smells smoke, no it's not the barn, it's her parents Ranch House. She rushes out and hears her Mother, and rushes in with Ray behind her. Her Mother says her Father is still in the bed. She and Ray get her out, and Ray says call 911, and goes back in for Kenneth. He gets him out, but he is in a coma. Charley calls both her sisters. Nicole and children get on the next plane. Vickey doesn't answer for a day. Then says she can't come due to her work load. Thus, Megan starts the story of the entwining sisters. Great start to a new series. Can't wait for book #2. A GREAT READ! I received this as an ARC and Am Leaving my honest review.
Charley calls her sisters home after their parents house burns and their father ends up in the hospital in a coma. She doesn’t believe the fire investigator that it was an accident her mother caused but the authorities won’t investigate anything else. Nicole is separated from her husband and trying to figure out life for her and her daughter without him. Divorced Vicky refused to come home until her ex causes her to be fired from her job. Her children come with her and they both want a different life than the one she’s planned for them. The deeper they dig into their own investigation it seems like someone will stop at nothing to keep them from the truth. The book ends with a cliffhanger.
The Hope We Keep by Megan Jacobs is a heartfelt start to the Lighthouse Landing series, blending family drama, suspense, and romance. When a devastating fire leaves Charley Garrett’s father in a coma and their coastal ranch in ruins, she must lean on her sisters and Ray, the loyal foreman, to rebuild both her family and her future. Emotional, inspiring, and full of hope, this debut captures resilience, love, and the courage to face loss. Moving, suspenseful, and beautifully written. Highly recommended.

This is my voluntary review of a copy I was given.
This is the first book in the series and we meet a lot of characters. The characters were a little more than sketched out. We learn how they're connected and little backstory for them. We see their temperament and we get to read what they are hiding from each other, which tells us a bit about their pride and fears. They are looking to be an interesting bunch. They are dumped head first into some exciting and dangerous situations.
This is looking to be an interesting series and I can't wait for the next story!
Oh my word, talk about something that will keep you on the edge of your seat.
Now, I absolutely loved this story, its a clean mystery romance but its also a great story of three sisters reuniting back home. And this adventure is that. There's some budding romance, some great coming together, some playful banter, but there's also some twists and turns this made me want to keep rereading. It truly ends with you wanting more and waiting patiently for the next read.
So, with all of that said, grab it and read, and be on the same page with me in wanting more :)
I was shocked by the fire. The Garrett sisters are unique characters, and all react in a different way to what's happening. I was really concerned for their father who was in a coma.
The Hope We Keep is a grea start to a women's fiction series by Megan Jacobs. It has everything Megan does well: family dynamics, romance, and emotions. As always, the setting is picturesque, and the characters and plot are believable.
Thanks to Megan Jacobs.

I love all things Megan Jacobs, and this does not disappoint; This is book one in The Lighthouse Landing series. The Garrett family grew up in Lighthouse Landing. Nicole and Vicky left, but Charlene (Charley) stayed to help her parents run the family ranch. The ranch house burns down one night, mom gets out ok; but dad is in a coma. Was the fire an accident or was it deliberately set? The fire brings the sisters back home. Love the plot, great setting, and strong intense interesting characters. I can't wait for the next book in the series!!!
This is the first book in the Lighthouse Landing series and we are introduced to the three sisters: Charley, Victoria and Nicole. When trouble falls upon their family, Nicole and Victoria are forced to come home.
I loved the community in their small town. Neighbors are not faceless people, instead they know each other and are ready to help out when the other needs it. That scene was so heartwarming and memorable.
A disaster can bring people together. It's hard when you have to depend on other people. Like the background in the setting of the story. The two lead characters are strong-willed and she has to depend on him to help her after a disaster. There are some twists and some difficulties that have to be dealt with. But it makes for interesting reading. Good read.

This was such a fabulous start for this new series! I cannot wait to keep going. The unraveling family drama and tension between the sisters was already a solid foundation. Add in some budding romances and the mystery of the attacks on the Garrett family, and this is shaping up to be a series filled with something for everyone.

This was a great start to the series! There are many characters, but once I got them all clear in my mind, I settled in to the story. There's difficult family dynamics, the budding of several romances and some mystery that starts with a deliberately set fire. Clean and no cussing. This leaves off on a cliff hanger, so I look forward to the rest of the series to see how the story unfolds.
Oh my goodness, what a gigantic cliffhanger for this new series. The three sisters are so different. I really don’t care for Vicki that much. Hopefully she improves during the series. So many different things happening, least of all the fire and Kenneth’s health. Amazing story. Can’t wait to see what happens next. I received this book from the author and this is my voluntary, honest review.
Book one of this series is packed with drama, family dynamics, and mystery—you won’t want to put it down. Megan is a fantastic storyteller who ties everything together beautifully. The characters—and there are plenty—each face their own challenges on top of dealing with the fire. I can’t wait for Book two.

A novel that will grip you from the beginning. Engaging characters that are realistic and distinct, a storyline that pulls you into each of these characters lives. Full of warmth and heart with a bit of suspense this is a wonderful novel to read and enjoy! I received a copy of this book from the author. I am leaving a voluntary and honest review.
So much happening in this book. It is filled with family drama, failed relationships, small town antics & mystery. A suspicious fire, an automobile accident are just a couple interesting things that make it hard for the family. Will the father survive to see his fragmented family working together to solve the accidents. Very much a great read.
A west coast ranch family saga with mystery, romance, sister drama and entertaining dialog. The characters are fantastic and relatable. I can't wait to get to know them better over the next few books. I love Megan Jacobs writing style. Very entertaining and engaging making her books easy to escape into enjoying every page.
Fabulous start to a new series about how a family comes together in times of trouble, when they all have their own problems. With hints of budding romance and lots of drama this proves to be another compelling read. Can't wait for the next book to continue the journey.
There is nothing worse than waking up to the smell of smoke and finding you childhood home on fire. Charlie with the help of Ray get her parents out of the burning house but is it too late for her father? Grab this intriguing read and find out what happens next.
