Knotted Vines

Rate this book
This vineyard is about to create some perfect pairings.

Knotted Vines Winery is well known in California’s wine country, as are the five handsome — and unmated — Bresnan brothers who own it. Jacob, Noah, Levi, Micah, and Asher all enjoy the fruits of bachelorhood as much as they enjoy making wine…much to the disappointment of their matriarch.

When Alpha Isabella D’Amato takes a job as the winery’s event planner, she never expects her personal and professional life to get so knotted up in the family business. But one by one, she and her four omega sisters are finding their scent matches with the Bresnan brothers.

While love is heating up in the vineyard, so are concerning mishaps. Broken trellis wire and cancelled events could be coincidences, but when the winery receives a threatening email, the Bresnans find themselves fighting to stop their legacy being uprooted.

Knotted Vines contains five novellas woven into one family saga, following each of the couples that come together among the vines.

‎"Had to keep those alphas on their toes. Even ones with the world’s most perfect scents."
‎— Rosie.

‎It’s been a while since I last read omegaverse. I ughh actually kind of gave up on this genre because no books were piquing my interest 😩 I mean, yeah ... Tragic, considering I joined an OV group. But one day, the author promoted the ARC for this book, and she was SOOO kind, answering all my questions 🥰 I hesitated to apply at first because I wasn’t sure I’d enjoy short stories. But when she mentioned there was a female alpha ofc I couldn’t miss it??? 😏 Knotted Vines contains five novellas following D’Amato sisters and the Bresnan brothers, and here they are (๑¯◡¯๑)☞

‎PART ONE: Emilia and Noah.
‎💚 Flirty alpha (M) × fiery omega (F)
‎Mini tropes: hate at first sight, forced proximity, scent match.

‎Emilia "Millie" D’Amato has just broken up with her boyfriend. And as if that weren’t bad enough, she’s practically homeless and jobless. That’s why when her older sister Izzy offers to bring her along to her new job at Knotty Vines winery, Millie agrees. But a new start also comes with Noah Bresnan, one of the owner’s five sons, who clearly doesn’t like them.

‎✨ This is a good opening! I instantly connected with the writing. Usually, I’m not a fan of dialogue heavy books, but Sara Dawson managed to balance it well. The buildup is also excellent 👌 I honestly thought I’d get confused bcs how the hell am I supposed to keep track of 10+1 people??? But it’s introduced slowly: two sisters at a time, five brothers with distinct personalities. Since I’m not a fan of bullying, I love how the author made Noah annoying without being too annoying, yk?? 😂 He’s tolerable and even fun at times. I picture him as that petulant child every family has. Millie served him right! I also liked that the business was actually used as a source of plot and conflict instead of just being a pretty property. Honestly, this story could’ve worked as a full length novel, and Millie’s ex could’ve been a delicious OM drama 😋
‎Rating: 4/5

‎PART TWO: Nina and Jacob.
‎💚 Daddy dom alpha × subby omega (F)
‎Mini tropes: dirty talk, instalust, scent match.

‎What was supposed to be a short stay to reunite with her sisters turns into something longer for Nina D’Amato, especially because of Jacob, Millie’s mate’s older brother. Not that it should matter. Jacob is practically off limits, right?

‎✨ Meh. No. This feels like a textbook D/s omegaverse, and unfortunately, instalust and I have never gotten along. Nina is your typical innocent omega, and that's fine, but subby girls bored me. She’s a good girl and that’s it. I don’t like daddy kink. I don’t even like my own dad bruhh.
‎Rating: 2/5

‎PART THREE: Rosie and Micah.
‎💚 Grumpy Alpha (M) × Free spirited Omega (F)
‎Mini tropes: rejected mate, second chance.

‎Rosie D'Amato always takes what she wants, but what happens if the Alpha destined for her doesn’t believe in scent matches? To make things even more complicated, she meets him at her sister's bonding party!

‎✨ This one is much better than part two! I’ve loved Rosie since she was first mentioned. The concept of an omega who proudly flaunts her scent, chooses her heat helper, and lives like a hippie really intrigued me. My love for her only grew stronger because she doesn’t forgive Micah easily. Unlike Millie’s story, there’s no dubcon, which always made me wary, since Rosie is the one who comes with the terms. I might have given this five stars if the grovel had been longer.
‎Rating: 4/5

‎PART FOUR: Izzy and Levi.
‎💚 Calm Alpha (F) × Anxious Omega (M)
‎Mini tropes: hidden omega, "accidental" bonding.

‎Izzy carries a lot of responsibility. She’s always wanted to take care of her sisters, prove herself at work, and is undoubtedly happy that three of them have found their scent matches. Her last relationship with a fellow alpha failed miserably, but dare she hope for another chance, this time with an omega, when a whine echoes from her office?

‎✨ Let me start by saying I’m a true lady alpha supporter. Any book with one as the main character has about a 98% chance of getting a perfect rating from me. And as a slow reader, I literally speed read the little sisters’ stories just so I could get to Izzy.

‎Izzy is THE reason I requested the ARC.

‎But I have to admit: Izzy and Levi’s story didn’t work for me. It felt lacking, AWKWARD. The author could’ve at least sprinkled the sparks of their relationship throughout the previous parts so that, when it finally arrived, the tension would feel natural. They already had chemistry, they work so well together! This could’ve been a cute friends + colleagues to lovers story. I’M CRYING.

‎Levi had the most interesting background: the only Bresnan son presenting as an omega, hiding his designation for months, fooling everyone into thinking he was a beta. The way he responded to Izzy during their argument hinted at a buried brat side. And let’s not forget, Izzy practically worships her job! Dating her boss’s son could have created a delicious dilemma for her character. I wanted more drama that doesn't resolved quickly, and more exploration of Levi’s feelings after the bonding (he should’ve been mad!). Can you imagine how funny it would have been to see a female alpha grovel to a whiny omega who loves her purr??? Such a wasted opportunity. WOW.

‎Suddenly, Levi thinks "hmmz, what a gorgeous alpha" and Izzy reciprocates, “hmmz, what a gorgeous omega" and boom they’re instantly smitten. AM I MISSING SOMETHING. Izzy goes into full mine mine mine mode worse than Jacob. Her last relationship, which should have made her hesitate, is tossed out the window. And a concept like a toy lock is just casually mentioned. I ... I literally have no words ☺️ Dear Author, you had a chance to make this hot! Toy lock?? I’ve never read anything like this, I need to know what happened to Levi during his heat witj that toy!!!

‎Maybe it’s just me, but I feel the author is much more comfortable writing the "normal" dynamic of male alpha × female omega. This felt like her first attempt at role reversal, and it shows, especially since their story is the shortest with only 14 chapters, while the other sisters’ stories got 20, 25, 18, and 20 chapters!
‎Rating: My disappointment is immeasurable, and my day is ruined.

‎PART FIVE: Did not read.

‎Unfortunately, I can’t bring myself to read the conclusion. The last MMF book I tried left a bad taste in my mouth, and it makes me sad that Kent, the beta, and Ava, the omega, who were shown in previous parts having a healthy, lovely relationship (Kent is clearly a green flag, he cooks for her and her sister 😭) had to have Asher, the alpha, added into the mix. While I like Asher, I just know I’ll feel bad for Kent.

‎One of the side characters in part one said something like "betas are just seen as playthings" and this story just proved that he was right. It’s so unfair, they’re never seen as enough, that an alpha like Asher has to step in to "complete" their relationship. Betas are my second favorite designation after female alphas in Omegaverse, so seeing this universe treat them this way genuinely pains me. And honestly I’m still salty about how Izzy and Levi’s story played out too. WHERE. IS. JUSTICE.

This series of alphas and omegas set in a vineyard setting is perfect.
Every pairing feels vivid, and I enjoyed all of these characters and seeing how and when they would scent match.

Sara Dawson is known for her incredible scent descriptions, and she didn’t disappoint. I just love the way she describes them every time.

I really liked all five novellas in this collection, and if you’re a fan of omegaverse romance, this is definitely one you should pick up.

This was a great Omegaverse book. It was a collection of shorter stories centered around a vineyard owned by a family of five brothers. Each of the stories was excellent, and was a quick but excellent read. I liked the family interactions throughout each book, and thoroughly enjoyed reading this book.
