i feel so much love for this book. its one of those stories i will hold in my heart forever. while this was definitely one of the longest books ive ever read at 600k words (and i wont lie. it was hard at times to read something so long) i dont regret it at all.

the relationship between cha euijae and lee sayoung throughout everything was so incredibly beautiful to watch. One of the most well written relationships and growth i have seen between two characters and it felt so real and not just characters in a novel. there is so much angst and love and emotions that go through your mind while reading this, one moment youre laughing and the next youre crying. honestly i could probably write a super long review on this book, but ill sum it up by saying this was an incredible reading experience and i got to read it alongside my best friend which made it even better.

the ending was quite satisfying to me too. i love cha euijae and lee sayoung so so so much and all the characters are so unique and endearing. I will love this book forever.

Honestly my one complaint and its not really a critique was just that its extremely long and it was hard to read one novel for 42 days but i also did take my time with it and appreciate the moments in it. Im glad to have finished and move forward with more novels, but this one will stick with me as a beautiful story about love, lost, regret, moving forward, and that in the end we cannot do things alone all the time.

writing this review as the whole series including the side stories. as an enjoyer of both action and romance, the novel blends the great world-building with plot twists in the story development in the thriller and romance aspects as well as memorable funny moments, so quite genre-blending i would say. it’s an intoxicating book where you realise the two lives keep colliding with each other by sheer will and a lesser extent, fate. at the end of it, it is so rewarding for the reader because the dynamic of the duo is hilarious and real. i also have an attachment to the side characters of the story, which usually gives me that fulfilment in truly liking a story! while it does have its lack of exploration in the pasts and exact sufferings of the main characters, part of a revelation i had was that it is exactly what the characters noted, in that it is alright not to share everything with the other (mini spoiler: although they were ok with it when bits were shared not by themselves…) because their reasons were to focus on their future together and it is only kept from each other because they don’t want the other to imagine the things they went through and feel the pain (even though they already do get the level of suffering it was). what matters is you stay with them, knowing they have their own secrets, and that’s ok. it’s difficult and i don’t think they’ll ever forget their past traumas so it is how they live with it because what they went through would lead them together!! this makes it sound like this story is entirely depressing but it isn’t, there’s sooo many moments i’m just trying not to laugh.

difficult to describe the feelings i have associated either this book because it’s definitely easy for me to finish it quick but the duration i took with it is as much as the ups and downs in my days as with this novel.

Oh my god. This is INCREDIBLE. The way it's starts out entertainly humorous as we watch Cha Eui-Jae, the number 1 hunter who disappeared 8 years ago and was presumed dead, attempt to live a quiet and peaceful life and hide his return from the rest of the world....and utterly fail at it. You're frolicking along, completely entertained by Eui-Jae's attempts, his personality, and his bickering dynamic with Lee Sa-Young...until, slowly, the plot begins to expand in tension and urgency and danger. And you realize this ISN'T some happy-go-lucky, silly story. There is actually complex depth to the plot that, uh oh, may end up hurting you in part 2.

The way Baek Sam grew this plot was actually incredible. The intensity slowly creeps up on you and builds in enrapturing ways. I was legitimately hooked and will be diving into part 2 immediately.

CEJ had to burden so much responsibility at a young age and only had a few years of peace. i love LSY from keeping him away from fhat life again. ugh they’re so intimate and lovey dovey with each other without even realising it, and it’s making me lose my mind.

Me reí, lloré, nodormípor24horasseguidas, y súper disfruté la novela. Entré por el webtoon y de la nada me encontré amaneciendo mientras lloraba por alguna de las mil escenas emotivas, jajaja.

Es una muy buena historia del típico héroe súper OP que se termina despersonalizando para cumplir su rol como el salvador, haaaaasta que llega alguien a enseñarle (obviamente su interés romántico, wuajajaj) que también tiene derecho a decir que no. La química es increíble, empiezan como enemigos y terminan como lovers, pero siempre fueron lovers,,,,, hay un poquito de vidas pasadas, viajes en el tiempo, el típico "sistema" que te pone misiones en un mundo donde algunas personas tienen poderes y otros se quedan como normies.

Todos los personajes son likeables y, honestamente, no quería que se terminara porque necesitaba saber más del futuro que los protagonistas tenían, pero en fin... 10/10, porfa léanlo y hagámoslo famoso para que saquen una traducción al español oficial.

It was really long, there were moments where it felt like it dragged and it lost me, but I was hooked. I read a huge chunk of the novel last year but only finished it this year. I loved the relationship between Euijae and Sayoung, I loved the complexity of their relationship and the way the author framed it as a "last chance/effort" kind of thing. I loved Koko and I almost cried for the Mackerel brothers. The side/supporting characters were also really enjoyable; I just wish that Euijae's grandma and niece (I think they were referred to as) didn't just disappear although I completely understand how Euijae could just slip away considering he's a grown man. There were some moments that got really trippy with Euijae or Sayoung visiting worlds within worlds (I don't know how else to describe it). Overall, it was a good read.

I was so invested in it, like I don't usually read novels, more like I wait for manhwa updates, but with this manhwa adaptation, I couldnt wait and started the novel and... IT WAS WORTH MY LIFETIME UGHHHHHHH
Laughed, bawled my eyes out, gut wrenched, used a mound of tissues and I'm still not okay. When that happens to me, it usually means that the story is peak fiction. My pookies LSY and CEJ were doomed, but weren't. Iykyk. MASTERPIECE, „You are my only success“ -stop or I won't survive this anymore.

Every character had unique trait that made me remember them well, the world building done well and the memories dungeon? Are you kidding me? That was amazing. And the angst and yearning - the author tried to kill me with my inpatience.

This was an amazing book and I loved it. I think it's sadly on hiatus but it's one of the best manhwa I've read! Would totally recommend, the top is a little iffy since he doesn't super stop when the bottom asks but there's also no explicit sex and the top just wants to keep him safe idk...
Either way, it's a really good start for guideverse and if you want to read one those would recommend.
HOWEVER
Don't read this if you expect smut, I was very sad when there wasn't any since the site it was tagged on said it did. Also the characters don't get together in the manhwa and only in the novel so far.

Woah, this was so hard to absorb. It was so emotionally manipulating that it made you feel like you couldn’t breathe. The trauma the characters suffered through was so intense and so vivid, I was shocked every step of the way. Even though this novel was long, it felt like the chapters were moving so so fast. Every moment felt important to the story in some way and in the end, they did. It was a novel webbed with intricate details and timelines. Totally took you for a ride you felt you couldn’t ever get off of. 4 out of 5 for me!

this one had me gripped in a chokehold since the very first chapter. everyone in the series (including side characters and villains) are so well written and each have their own silly little personalities/personal growth. 240J compliment each other so well and sometimes I just want to shake the both of them to talk to each other. i've always loved novels that play around with time and alternate universes & thgll really didn't disappoint. won't include too much in my review besides the fact that i love love love this novel so that a couple years down the line i can reread this!
