The Story of India's Most Successful Captain charts the dynamic rise of one of India's most talented and charismatic cricketers and captains. From playing tennis-ball cricket in Ranchi and Kharagpur to his patented helicopter shot, Dhoni has come a long way with his grit and determination. With best ODI and Test records among all Indian captains to date, it is his simple and down-to-earth attitude that works wonders for the captain as well as the team.
The book has Dhoni on the cover. It is purported to be story/biography of MS Dhoni. I say purported, because in each chapter there are between 5 to max 10 paragraphs about Dhoni, the rest is full of stuff which is an exercise in showoff. Except of say a chapter or two where you get some glimpse into the life of Dhoni, most of the pages are filled with information gleaned from press conferences, press releases, previously published stories.
Frankly it is a self indulgent piece of work which gives you no new insights in to the extremely personal man that is Dhoni. What a complete let down.
The author emphasizes mostly on the politics prevailing in the BCCI and state cricket boards, than on prioritizing the hardships that Mr. MSD overcame to reach the pinnacle status in world of cricket.
