Crude Intentions

Rate this book
Ryder saw Audryn as his weapon. King Grave saw her as salvation. Wanting either could cost her everything.

Torn between two kingdoms, Audryn is traded to the enemy expecting death or worse. Instead, she finds a land on the brink of starvation and a ruler who values her for more than her magic—one who asks for her help without demanding her obedience.

King Grave was supposed to be a half-witch tyrant, the brutal ruler who threatens kingdoms and takes what he wants. But Audryn finds a man who works beside his people and understands what it means to be rejected by the world. As they fight for Kuroden’s future, something fragile and unexpected begins to blossom between them.

They have one month before Ryder returns to claim his “property.” When he arrives with threats and guards, Audryn must complete her mission of vengeance or stay with the man who showed her that love doesn't come with chains.

Wowowow. Crude Intentions was the perfect follow-up after reading Crude Games. Sometimes, second books in series fall flat. But not this second book. This gave me everything I was hoping to read in the next book. I am 10000% satisfied.

You get so much more worldbuilding in this book, from learning another countries politics, the way King Grave speaks and interacts with HIS kingdom, the history of his family. You also learn about the witches.

Oh also, there’s WYVERNS! I love love love a book with wyerns. I always enjoy the line of connection/communication between rider & wyvern. I love that those creatures are conscious and understand the humans and react to them. It keeps it interesting and adds a note of playfulness to them.

The magic is so good, I love how everyone comes together to add their magic to help the land and help achieve their goals.

The side characters you meet in this book are so sweet. I love when there’s a guy best friend/brother (Micah) who speaks his mind and points out the obvious. Sarcastic humor again doesn’t miss.

PLOT TWIST WAS CRAZY!!

The romance gave me peace again. Absolute cinema.

Thank you again Amanda for letting me ARC read for an honest review, I need book three in my hands tomorrow thanks 😏😏💜

Here’s some good quotes without spoilers for your enjoyment:

•••“Slowly, my stare trailed up and our eyes connected; it would be so easy to lose myself in her.”

•••“I’m sorry.” I turned, the front of our bodies meeting and knocking me back against the desk. “I was bored and came up here to look for a book and—”
“Why are you apologizing?” He scanned my face. “You’re welcome to all I have, here or otherwise.”

•••“Though her beauty was something that rivaled the most exquisite sunset, it was her resilience that I found the most captivating.”

•••“He reach for me, but he stopped himself short. His hands always carried love, never harm—and they would certainly never hold me back.”

•••“But I supposed nobody truly knew just how close they were to the light when all they saw was darkness closing in around them.”

First of thanks to @Olive Press Publishing & of course @Amanda.Allen|Author📚 for this ARC copy.
I found Amanda via OPP with her first book in this series Crude Games, and I instantly became obsessed with Amanda's writing (in a non creepy way 🤣). Amanda writes amazingly, everything is done with such a vivid depiction you actually feel as though the characters are real humans and as though you are really part of the scene, no matter which one it may be!
Crude Intentions follows on from Crude Games!! I am always weary when it comes to book 2 in a series, if I've loved the first one, they always have alot to live up to and tend to fall flat. But that did not happen with this one! (Thankfully!). Book 2 gave me everything I wanted from it & then some!!! Its much more than world building, you learn of another kingdoms politics, side characters who to me feel like more than side characters and WYVERNS...I mean COME onnn! Wyverns dude!! I just..ugh.. I loved it. I loved the magical system & the way the Wyverns communicated with their riders. Like always with Amanda, the plot was plotting and AHEMMM... THAT PLOT TWIST...WHATTTT.... JUST... wow. Amanda always seems to pour everything & more into her writing. Highly recommend The Chronicles of Crofea series!

Crude Intentions was a spectacular second book the dived into the personal and political conflicts of the characters and the realm.

Colgrave's unwavering support and love towards Audryn stole my complete heart and I was cheering for Audryn every single step of the way for this book because I saw myself. The interwoven clashes of the kingdoms sets up a can not miss finale for book 3 and I am going to be the first one in line cheering my two favorites, Audryn and Colgrave on as they tackle it together.

This is the exact way you do a second book, this series is everything to me.

This picks up seamlessly after Book 2. I loved getting to see more of the world expand, and obviously, more Colgrave! Oh, and can’t forget WYVERNS?! Say less.

Audryn is an incredible FMC. She’s fierce, resilient, and genuinely badass. She goes through so much, but instead of letting it break her, she rebuilds herself stronger every time. Her growth feels real and hard-earned.

Colgrave absolutely stole my heart. The way he protects Audryn, the way he’s completely gone for her… obsessed. Down bad in the best possible way.

The found family elements were everything, the plot twists genuinely caught me off guard, and the emotional damage? Ruthless. That last 20% had me stunned. I cannot wait to continue this series

Thank you, Amanda Allen, for this eARC!

Oh wow, oh wow! So much happens in this book that it's going to be very hard not to say any spoilers! If I thought the world-building in the first book was impressive, this book takes it to a whole new level. We get to learn so much more about a few more of the surrounding kingdoms, and a little bit about where some of the witches are from.

We get more backstory on Colgrave and his family, as well as some of the trauma he has gone through. Reading from his POV was a nice touch, and we get to see how much other kingdoms influence what history is told. Audryn's character growth in this book was amazing; she really started to open up and evolve. The connection between the two is beautiful, and reading about how Colgrave really tried to give Audryn the space she needed to heal from her trauma, and how supportive of her, was incredible.

The plot twist had my jaw dropping! I am still a little confused as to what Ryder's power was. It was mentioned in the first book quite a bit on how he had to hide it, but it wasn't really told in a big, revealing way. The last 20% of the book had me on the edge of my seat, with a need to read as fast as I could with everything that happened. The end left me bawling, and I can not wait for the next book!

Crude Intentions by Amanda Allen, the sequel to Crude Games, absolutely wrecked me, in the best way. I felt every ounce of Audryn’s fear, strength, and impossible choices she was faced with. As a reader it was so hard watching her be traded “property". I was always rooting for her to be so much more. As far as King Grave...I will let the readers figure that one character out on their own.
A few quotes that will stick with me forever:

“Though her beauty was something that rivaled the most exquisite sunset, it was her resilience that I found the most captivating.”
That line alone had me melting. 🫠

“But I supposed nobody truly knew just how close they were to the light when all they saw was darkness closing in around them.”
This line had me ugly crying. 😭

I was rooting, stressing, swooning, and holding my breath all at once. Emotional, intense, and beautifully written. This sequel raised the stakes and completely stole my heart. Thank you, Amanda Allen, for trusting me with not only one, but two of your books. Hopefully, I will be considered for the third book in this series.

Amanda Allen did it again! After leaving us on an unexpected cliff hanger in book 1 Crude Games, Crude intentions picks up right where it left off. From page one I was sucked in and couldn’t put this book down. I devoured it.

This is a romantasy series packed with action, emotion, and unexpected twists. The author clearly paints a picture of the world and the kingdoms within. The characters are so well developed. Col (Grave) is one of the best MMCs I have found in a long time. I love the grumpy persona he puts off but I love who he is underneath that act even more. Audryn is stubborn, brave and fierce. She loves with her whole being. Ryder is the villain we all love to hate. The supporting characters are fantastic and you never know what to expect from each off them.

This story is well written and fast paced. It easily keeps the reader engaged and in anticipation of what will come next. I cannot wait to read book 3 Crude Regrets when it comes out.

Thank you so much to Amanda Allen for giving me the opportunity to be a part of your ARC team. I am happy to volunteer my honest review and I cannot wait to read your future work

I really enjoyed book two of The Chronicles of Crofea series, and if anything, it made me even more invested in the story. This installment expands on everything I loved about book one. The stakes are higher, the relationships are deeper, and the choices the characters are forced to make feel heavier and more complex, which gives the story a stronger emotional pull overall.

The characters continue to be the heart of the series. These are people you genuinely care about, not just because they are likeable, but because they feel real in their flaws, fears, and growth. Watching them navigate both external conflict and their own internal struggles made the emotional moments hit even harder this time around.

And then there is the villain. The kind you HAAAATTTEEEEE. Every win feels hard fought, and every setback actually hurts.

I was genuinely worried this might be the end of the series, so I was very excited to see that more books are planned. I am fully invested in seeing where these characters end up next.

Torn between two kingdoms, Audryn is used in a trade; more crude, for one month with the king from the opposing family. More than a little reluctant, Audryn, is brought against her will to King Grave. She expects to be tormented, she did not expect a kingdom on the brink of starvation.
Audryn begins to work alongside King Grave, and sees how involved he is with his people.
she sees the care he has for them and how much they care for him.
Time begins to slip away and Ryder shows up with threats and rips her away from her new found comfort.
Audryn is then confronted with a choice, stay with King Grave or follow through on her mission to avenge her family.

This was a perfect follow up to Crude Games, it wrapped up all the questions I had but new questions begun to take form. The last fifty pages were INSANE!!! I was absolutely glued to my kindle. I felt a lot of relief and excitement knowing that a third book is in the works. Crude Intentions was 🧑🏻‍🍳😙🤌🏻 (chefs kiss).

I am SO thankful to receive an ARC for this amazing book!

YES!!! This book gave me everything I wanted after the end of book one! I fell even more in love with the characters and the storyline itself. The new characters we meet from Kuroden are so fun and seeing Grave and Amalee amongst their people was so nice. I love Micah and Sky! I hope we get more of them! I see the makings of beautiful friendships!

Spoilers ahead!

I was so happy to see the “bond” between Audryn and Ryder weaken with distance and time. It allowed Audryn to finally accept the feelings she has for Grave. I was hoping for this to happen since the moment we met Grave!

I was honestly shocked at the turn of events at the wedding. I had a hunch that more of Ryder’s staff was against him than we were led to believe, but to that extent was crazy.

There is so much more in this book I love. It feels like one major chapter of Audryn’s life came to a close with this book and the next is going to be just as exciting and terrifying! I can’t wait for book 3!

I was waiting for the sequel after reading the first book and it did not disappoint! It was honestly just as great, but slightly better than the first one, especially since there was barely any Ryder in it.

I loved reading about Col. Seeing his life and learning who he is as a person confirmed to me that he is the better man. His and Audyrn's story was such a slow burn but I loved it. She did need time to figure out what and who she wanted and I was glad that she was able to take the time and not rush into anything. Can I just say Fisher surprised me, in more ways than one.

The book was written so well that I couldn't put it down. I told myself I was only going to read a few chapters before bed and somehow I found myself 50% into it in one sitting. The author did an amazing job and I was so happy that I was able to receive an ARC copy. Very excited for third book and the new trials it brings to Col and Audryn.

Thank you to both Amanda Allen and Olive Press Publishing for this amazing ARC!

This book was so good!! The first book was amazing, set up for this book to just knock it out of the park! I am obsessed!! 😍 A book with a badass FMC and a "you belong to no one" ruler? Absolutely!!!

With Prince Sutton in desperate need of resources from Kuroden, he will do anything to get more; including trading his betrothed.

Audryn gets shipped away with half-witch ruler King Grave to his land, expecting brutality and tyranny from the leader. However, she's shocked to learn he sees everyone as his family instead of his subjects, and something between them starts to grow.

With one month until she's "claimed" back with guards and threats, she must figure out whether her betrothed really has her best interest at heart or a thirst for control.

Thank you to the author for letting me read book 2 before the masses. I can honestly say that Book 2 just gets better and better. The series as a whole is a five-star read. Book 2 follows Audryn and vengeance plans, but in the midst of those plans things change. And I feel for the better but you'll just have to read and find out.

The pacing was great, the action was packed, the spice was appropriate. I loved the familiar animals and how they played a role in the plot and made it even better. You feel all the feels with this book.

Audryn is on a path of vengeance - is is misguided? Yes but as we know she is headstrong.
Grave is just a simpy mess but I love it.

The author does a great job of setting up book 3, so it's a easy on the heart, cliffhanger.

I received this book as an ARC directly from the author in exchange for an honest review.

This second installment in the series definitely explored the different kingdoms, explained the magic different people held, dives into some of the characters history more and escalated the unpleasantness happening in Rivale.

I’m interested to see what the next stage of the series will be. How will the witches play into the upcoming battle? Will Col be able to succeed in creating a safe haven in his kingdom?

There were certainly some aspects of the characters interactions and internal thoughts I felt could be tightened up a bit more to make you connect a bit more with them but I enjoyed the final pathway all the characters ended up on.

This is the second book in the series (see previous review below for book one). I love the story and the characters. I enjoyed having more POV in the second book. This takes place immediately after the events of book one where Audryn is gifted for a month to King Graves by the Prince, ‘Mate’ and heir to the thrown in exchange for crude. The drastic difference between these two men is outstanding. How the love we think we deserve is so wrong compared to the love that truly heals us. I loved the connect and watching it build. The devastation of the events of this book hurt my heart but I loved how it played out and how it healed her. This has enemies to lovers and wyverns and is such a fun love story. Add this to your TBR you won’t be disappointed.

I absolutely devoured Crude Intentions, the sequel to Crude Games. Audryn’s resilience is everything. She doesn’t fold, she doesn’t flinch, and she definitely doesn’t wait around to be saved. An FMC who actually thinks for herself and stands on it? Refreshing in the best way.

I also loved being introduced to Micah and Sky. They were not just background noise. They brought depth, tension, and that extra spark that makes a story feel alive. And King Grave? I was fully seated and rooting the entire time. The payoff did not disappoint.

I was completely locked in while reading, and I already know I’ll be diving straight into whatever comes next.

I absolutely loved Crude Intentions by Amanda Allen. After reading Crude Games, I was so excited to read Book 2!

The second book expands the world so much more. We get deeper into the politics of other kingdoms, learn more about the history behind the characters, and see how everything is connected. The worldbuilding feels really immersive and the characters feel very real!!!!

And the wyverns! 😍😍😍

The magic system is also one of my favorite parts. I love how different characters contribute their magic and how it all ties into protecting the land and achieving their goals.

Also… that plot twist?! And the humor- I absolutely loved Micah!!! Cannot wait for Book 3!!!

Wow. What an ending. This book was a lot of fun to read. The last 20 % of the story is non stop action packed and has you sitting on the edge of your seat! I enjoyed watching the relationship bloom between our FMC Audryn and MMC , Col, and discovering a whole new land while she pushes her magic to the limits.
Audryns character arc was fantastic to read. Seeing her go from a headstrong and "I can do it all on my own" person to someone who doesn't see asking for help as a vulnerability...that was probably my favorite thing in this book! I love a good character arc and Amanda Allen delivered.

I can not wait to see what happens in book 3

I truly didn’t think that it would be possible to love a book anymore than I have this whole series so far! Crude Intentions blew any and all expectations out of the water for me though! There were several twists in this book that I could never have predicted and it had me reacting out loud! I absolutely adored the creatures and world building in this one as well! I loved the characters of Audryn and King Grave but could not stand Prince Sutton! I was so honored to be able to continue following this story !

Arc reader-
Let me just say YESS!!! I read the first one and patiently waited for this one to come out and let’s say I was not disappointed.
This book had me sitting up and wanting to flip the pages so fast but I slowly read to cherish the roller coaster it had me on. The passion, sadness and all other emotions had me so engrossed. I yelled at certain parts and cried at others. I won’t give any spoilers but it definitely ended how I wanted it to. I can’t wait for the next one!!
I highly recommend reading this book !!!!

I absolutely demolished and FLEW through this book. I loved the character development we saw of Audryn as she gained confidence in herself and discovered more about herself as well. I mean, I’m not going to deny my love for the romance either. I hated when she had to go back with Ryder but it did also keep me on my toes with anticipation, hoping that Col would end up stopping the wedding and getting to claim her as his. I’m curious to see how they get rid of the “fake bond” that was put into Audryn and if that might affect a true bond that Col and her might have. A girl can only hope! 🤞🏻

Amanda Allen has delivered once more. "Crude Intentions" serves as an excellent sequel to "Crude Games." In this installment, the worldbuilding expands significantly, offering insights into the politics of another country, the manner in which King Grave communicates with and governs his kingdom, and the history of his lineage. Additionally, the narrative delves into the lore of the witches.

The story is crafted with skill and moves swiftly, maintaining the reader's interest and curiosity about the unfolding events. I am so excited for the release of the third book, "Crude Regrets."

This was a stellar follow up to one of the best romantasy books I have ever had the pleasure of reading. The characters and build up left me breathless at the end, with a stunning conclusion that had me quaking in my boots. I can't wait for people to read this follow up and dare I say that this was even better than the first. I didn’t think it was possible to top the first book in this series, but I was so wrong. Allen absolutely knocked it out of the park once again. The world building is top tier, pulling you deeper into a rich, immersive fantasy. The action is thrilling, the romance hits just right, the banter is perfection, and the wyverns… yes, I’m screaming! It’s the perfect recipe for an ultimate fantasy read, and I devoured every page.

I do think this series has me captivated still as once I started I didn’t put the book down til it was over. I enjoyed the parts we got to see of Col and Audryn as I felt I couldn’t get enough of them. I had a feeling about Maris and I’m glad I was right. The last few chapters however felt a little rushed to me compared to the rest of the book. Can’t wait to see where it goes from here but I’m sure it’ll be just as good as the first two!

This book was everything I wanted and more. The MMC is absolutely delicious and walks along side the FMC as she works through partner abuse and personal traumas. The FMC is strong and fierce in all the best ways and learns how to trust and form true bonds with others. There’s found family, forced proximity, he falls first(and hard), and all the yummy spice. I would highly recommend this book. For me it was a 6 star read!
