Don't Grow Up: Rediscovering wonder, joy, and the child within

What if growing up wasn’t about control, but curiosity?
In Don’t Grow Up, Mena reflects on how adulthood teaches us to hide the very qualities that make us alive; Our imagination, openness, and awe. Through honest stories and gentle lessons, he invites us to return to the child we once were; the one who asked boldly, played freely, loved without fear, and believed deeply. This isn’t a guide on how to succeed, it’s a reminder of how to feel again.

Orezi does a really good job of reminding us of the things that really matter in this book 🥹

The writing is simple and easy to follow along, and he uses relatable examples to drive his points home.

If you’re looking for a light-hearted read on why you should embrace child likeness, Don’t Grow Up is for you.

One line in the book that really spoke to me was, having a hobby is being allowed to live life without owing an invoice.

As I went through the book, it constantly reminded me to preserve my childlike spirit as I grew up. Often, as adults, we tend to suppress our inquisitiveness due to past rejections, unconsciously building fear and shame. However, 'Don't Grow Up' lets me know that it's okay to ask questions, seek help, and let go of fear/shame.

I also loved the lesson on having the courage to take the wrong path and then figuring out your way from there, as we tend to plan most things strategically and want everything to go as planned, but hey, things don't always go our way, and that's okay; just ensure you have motion, and you keep going no matter what.

It was definitely a great read, and I'll be reading it again this year.
