Meh. Cute but the MC h is kind of naive and clueless, despite facts being repeated in front of her multiple times. It was obvious the Fourth Consort was blocking communication between the fiancées. And before all of the servants left, not ONE of them could tell her fiancée she was being held captive? Her guard was adopted into a viscount family, surely he could have one of them smuggle a letter with the truth to her fiancée at least ONCE in those FOUR YEARS??? Like seriously dude?

Saving grace, this was a stand-alone at least, so no buying future volumes. And the king was an idiot for trusting the Fourth Consort so completely.

Also, the MC H cried WAAAAAAY to much. I’m not against men crying, but not all of the time with little reason. He’s TWENTY and a duke’s heir. He should be a bit more hardened than a compulsive crier.

2.5 stars, rounded down, because while GoodReads will give us a DNF shelf we never asked for and can create on our own, they WON’T do something we DO ask for and can’t do on our own, create half star options or keep DMs.

2, not bad but too many plot holes to really enjoy it, stars.
