A very sweet, quick paced love story. There was no drama, tension, or angst. Just a couple with an instant attraction who met under unfortunate circumstances. I enjoyed watching Onyx love Maverick out loud and balance his time as a single dad.

Maverick was adopting a sweet dog Spencer who is mastiff she was very excited, plus he was her emotional support. She was one of the three black gastroenterologists at the Sunrise valley medical center.
onyx daughter ( turquoise) is so adorable , his dad and stepmom are just amazing 👏 his stepmom has been very important in his life and his daughter, too, since her mom died during childbirth
The moment he rescued her and got Maverick to safety he saw how beautiful she was the way he was feeling towards her something definitely changed in him cause he wasnt interested in dating , poor turquoise was having stomach issues so her dreams suggested gastroenterologists I was giggling at that .
It was so cute when they ran into each other at the mall & turquoise was excited to see her . Especially cause Onyx was set on getting to know her and making Maverick his. Their first date was so cute the kiss i was so hyped for that cause yess!!!!
I felt so bad for turquoise her grandma (bria's mom) seemed like she had no interest in knowing her or spending true quality time. In a way, it felt like she blamed her for bria's death
I loved the building bond Maverick was having with turquoise ,his father and step mom loved her as well she didnt dim his love for bria and knows he has space in his heart for her as well my heart was so happy .

I love a low-angst love story, and Soleil delivers every single time. A single father will always get a read out of me! I’m really enjoying every book I’ve read from this author so far. Definitely recommend!

Some stories crawl this one sparks and catches fire instantly. Imagine your house going up in flames and the person pulling you out of it ends up being the one who changes your life forever. Maverick and Onyx didn’t build a slow burn they ignited.
What makes it hit is how effortless it feels. There’s no overcomplicated drama, no unnecessary chaos, just two people who cross paths in the most intense way possible and lean into what they feel without hesitation. Even in that first moment, when Maverick is unconscious and everything is uncertain, there’s a pull that Onyx can’t ignore. It’s instinctive, protective and immediate. Like his spirit recognized something before his mind ever could.
Onyx showing up as her rescuer easily could’ve stopped at duty but it didn’t. It turned into presence, into care, into something steady that Maverick didn’t even realize she needed. Even with her anxiety trying to take over, having someone like Onyx step in and ground her!!! That connection felt natural, not forced.
That’s really the beauty of this story. It’s soft. It’s warm. It’s rooted in connection instead of conflict. Sometimes love doesn’t have to be complicated to be real. Sometimes it shows up in the middle of chaos, grabs your hand and says I’m here without asking for anything in return. This was one of those reads that just flows. Easy to fall into, easy to believe and even easier to root for. Proof that sometimes love really does find you when you least expect it.

Sweet & Spicy Love. I Enjoyed It!
This is the first book that I have read from this author and it also appears to also be the first in her catalog. I enjoyed it. The storyline was sweet and spicy with no drama. It held my interest and also served as a good palate cleanser from some of the other foolishness I have read recently. These characters were successful black professionals and good upstanding members of society who met when one literally saved the other's life. Though they both had experienced some hard things in their pasts, neither let it overcome them or block their blessings. The only thing that this book lacked for me or what I would have liked to see more of was how Maverick's parents interacted with Onyx and Turquoise. It felt odd that with them being such an important part of her life, they were seemingly left out of their life together. Other than that, if this book is any indication, this author has the right recipe to craft some other good books in the future.

Do not miss this book!
I'm a very visual reader, and let's face it, these covers are sexy! Add to that the juicy synopsis, and I knew I wanted to read this book. But, Bae Bae, I was not prepared for how amazing and uplifting a read this book was. If you have not read this book, you need to add it to your TBR list ASAP!
I loved everything about Maverick and Onyx's love story. From the moment Onyx saved Maverick from that house fire, his heart and spirit knew she was his—his to protect, love, and cherish. Maverick herself knew there was something about Onyx that called to her. Even his daughter, Turquoise, held a place in Maverick's heart.
I loved how Onyx always showed Maverick how he felt about her, how he made sure she felt safe and cared for at all times, and how he trusted her completely when it came to Turquoise. And how Maverick was able to lean into Onyx and allow him to love on her like the queen she is. I truly loved their HEA journey. This book was absolutely a gem among gems.

This was… fine. There’s nothing offensive about it, but it’s also very bland. Nothing really happens.
Beyond the initial incident that brings Maverick and Onyx together, there’s no real action, tension, or internal or external conflict. The story mostly follows them building a relationship in a very straightforward, low-stakes way. It’s a short novella, so it doesn’t feel like it drags, but at the same time, there isn’t much that stands out or lingers after you finish. It’s not particularly memorable.
The side characters are again… okay. Maverick’s friends and parents are pleasant enough when they appear. Onyx’s parents are also fine, though he doesn’t have any real friend of his own- limiting our ability as readers to really get to know him. The world feels functional, but not especially rich or memorable.
Ultimately, this was a cute story, if very uneventful. If you’re looking for something soft, easy, and low-drama where everyone gets along, there’s no real conflict, and nothing particularly stressful happens, this is the one.

First of all, I was lucky enough to win a signed paperback from Soleil, and baby… this one is staying on my shelf forever. This story? ADDICTIVE.

While I enjoyed this one, I feel something was missing. It was super cute tho! Maverick was a gastrologist who ended up passed out in a house fire. Onyx was a single dad and firefighter who came to her rescue and saved her life.
From the moment he laid eyes on her, he was drawn to her and wanted to know everything about her. She was rushed to the hospital and after recovering, he went in to visit, and sparks flew between the both of them. Because he didn't want to be too forward, he decided to leave it to chance that they would see each other again.
His wish comes true when not only does he end up in her office, they also see each other at the mall and spend time together. This leads to them going on a few dates and hanging out more and more.
I love the care that is taken with the story behind his daughter's mom as well as Maverick's own anxiety. It was a good read but I feel it was missing something.

Wow… this love story was sexy.
It started in a way that could’ve easily turned tragic — with fire involved and everything — but instead it unfolded into something soft, intimate, and beautifully layered. The entire read just felt good. That’s the best way I can describe it. It felt good from beginning to end.
This was my first book by this author, and I thoroughly enjoyed it. The story had depth, the characters were amazing, and the emotional build was done so well. I’m definitely looking forward to reading more.
And honestly? I would love to see more from this family. There’s still so much I’d love to experience with them — but that might just be me.

Book Three!!
What can I say about book 3 of the BLP Breeds series?!?! I absolutely loved this book!!! I don’t know if this is the first time I read a book by Soleil but I am definitely a fan after this one and ready to read the rest of her catalog!!!
Maverick and Onyx’s love story is definitely a love at first sight romance because they both knew and we knew too. The love they had for each other and the way their relationship just flowed made me want that kind of love again.

Since the day Onyx stepped in and saved Maverick, he knew that was his forever! He told his dad that that was his future and he made it happen. The way Maverick loved on turquoise was admirable. She treated that baby like her own from day one. Mavericks friends and family were accepting of Onyx from jump the same way that Onyx’s family accepted Maverick with minimal questions asked. Onyx was the sweetest and the way that he loved and protected Maverick. The way he helped her with her anxiety was top-tier chef’s kiss 😘🤌🏾💋 I love love love this story!

Onyx is a single father who is a fireman and gets a call for a house fire. He resues the most beautiful woman since the mother of his child. He wants to see her again, but not she how to make it possible.
Maverick is a doctor and fills in for another doctor of the practice that she is a part of and ends up meeting Onyx again. Onyx knows it's now or never and asks her out.
This is a great addition to the series.

Onyx saving Maverick from her house fire ended up with Onyx finding the love of his life. Onyx knew he found his one and didn't waste any time going after what he wanted. It doesn't take long for them to enter into a loving and passionate relationship. I enjoyed the way that Onyx loved on Maverick and provided for her every need. I also enjoyed how Maverick treated Onyx's daughter, Turquoise, like she was her own daughter. She poured into baby girl all of the maternal love that she needed. This was such a feel-good book that I thoroughly enjoyed from beginning to end.

Okayyyyyyyyy Mr.Fireman. I enjoyed this read and watching the love bloom. Onyx knew since he stepped into that fire that Maverick would be his. Sometimes you just know what forever looks and feels like. Imagine a man telling his dad he found his forever today. Maverick and Turquoise relationship was beautiful.
I loved the honesty, compassion and raw emotions between Onyx and Maverick.

This was such a sweet story. Not a lot of drama and unhinged madness, just good clean loving and being loved.
Onxy and Maverick were two people living life but not really living. He was a single dad, and she was a doctor with severe anxiety. Her house catching fire and Onxy saving her changed the trajectory of their lives. Sweet, heartfelt, and simply beautiful.
This was such a sweet story. Not a lot of drama and unhinged madness, just good clean loving and being loved.

Sometimes we all need the hood/urban escape and just indulge is a sweet romance. This is what Maverick and Onyx story was to me. Little drama but so much love, support, and dating. Don't get me wrong Onyx laid that pipe baby and GOOD but he was a companion next to being a father. There was communication, fun, and affirmations. They spoke life into each other and was a real team.

Enjoyed It!
This was really a good read. It was love at first sight. I love the way their relationship grew. It was very romantic, as I blushed throughout the whole story. Onyx was very attentive and loving, as well as Maverick. They took care of each other needs, both mentally and physically. I adored how Maverick’s relationship with Onyx’s daughter developed and flourished. Wow, a small house fire turned into a marriage/family.

Onyx was very attentive and loving, as well as Maverick. They took care of each other needs, both mentally and physically. I adored how Maverick’s relationship with Onyx’s daughter developed and flourished. Wow, a small house fire turned into a marriage/family.

Awesome Read
Onyx went on a rescue and rescued his heart! His first sight of Maverick was love. Although she was unconscious, he knew she would be his forever. Once Maverick officially met Onyx, the feeling was mutual. The couple fell fast and hard. Their families loved them and their love for one another. Maverick not only loved Onyx, but she loved Turquoise. This was an outstanding read!

Onyx stepped onto a fire scene and saved a woman he knew absolutely nothing about. Wait though, something was pulling him toward this woman even after she was loaded into the ambulance and taken away. Maverick, successful yet anxious. She meets Onyx and something in her awakens. It’s a good book, I just wish it gave more
Overall this book is good but it left me missing something. I love low angst books but this felt flat in a sense. Even in the one moment it should’ve been drama or was about to be, the scene didn’t follow through. There was a few plot holes as well, but overall it was still a cute love story and this was a great palate cleanser for me.

Onyx and Maverick!!!!! Love them. I Love a good Love story and this one is it. I always say, most men know as soon as they meet you that you are the one! And if so not take long to know that you wanna spend the rest of your life with someone! And Onyx wasted no time! Being a Single father who was raising his baby girl alone, he had to make sure the one he loved also loved his daughter just as much if not even more!

Easy Love
Onyx and Maverick's story was sweet and easygoing. The worst day of Maverick's life was also the best day of her life because she met Onyx. I loved their love and respect for each other. And I love a book with a cute, smart kid. There was no drama in this story. Just two adults knowing what they want and going for it. This was a nice pallet cleanser from all the other drama I've been reading. I enjoyed Soleil's writing style.

What a mighty good man!
This was such a feel good love story. The storyline was perfect. I love the patience, loyalty, and straightforward approach shown by the MMC. The FMC was honest, sweet, and loving. The two of their personalities combined along with their approach to love and bonding makes this a real great book.
