A sweet second-chance golf romance with grumpy/sunshine sparks, a chaotic husky, and an ex who’s hard to resist...
Luke Buyer’s remorse hits hard with my new husky. My agent swears Bogey will soften my grumpy reputation and help my anxiety.
I hoped adopting him might open a door with Genevieve, my sunshine ex who still hates me for choosing golf over us.
When her text finally comes, my heart soars, until it’s clear she’s only helping because of my sister.
Watching her gentleness with Bogey makes my chest ache. I need her training expertise... but I want so much more.
Genevieve Another text from Luke Nichols—pro golf’s brooding “Grim Reaper”—pops up. I ignore it. He walked away years ago; I’m not helping now.
Then his sister begs. Against every fiber of my being, I agree. For her sake.
Pulling into his driveway, I find Luke frazzled, hair wild, and wearing an expression I’ve never seen before. His dog bolting past in a furry blur.
He looks...lost, and my guarded heart cracks.
Keeping this professional might be harder than watching him walk away.

Life just throws you a chance — or in this case a second chance??
A flirty, fun, laugh out loud, second chance romance that has you going right from the start! Very well written! I love how the author tells the story and she does an amazing job developing characters that are realistic and that you can really relate to. I especially loved how she dealt with Luke's anxiety.
Luke is a pro golfer who has just adopted a husky dog to help with his grumpy image, and anxiety. And he hopes this will possibly give him a chance to get his ex back since he desperately needs help training his dog.
Genevieve is a professional dog trainer and Luke's ex. Luke's sister begs Gen to help her brother train Bogey. Gen agrees thinking that she can keep things professional and treat him as just another client. But soon her guarded heart cracks… and things change, choices are made.
I just love Bogey, the husky, he reminds me so much of all of my “furmily” of dogs! I think he's probably my favorite of all the pets in the series, although I loved them all! 💕 And of course, Bogey steals the show with all of his antics and mischief!!🐕🦺
I loved this book and didn't want to see it end! I highly recommend it to anyone looking for a swoony, heart-warming HEA! I love these quotes from the book: “Just savoring the moment,”... “It’s not everyday you get a second first kiss.” 💋 (this one had me swooning) and “Sometimes life just throws you chances. It’s up to you if you want to take them.”
This is the eighth book in a multi-author “The Love Playbook” series. It can be read as a stand-alone but you'll want to read the whole series!
I received an ARC of the book and am voluntarily leaving a review.
I received an ARC of this book and wanted to offer my honest, voluntary impression of it though I wasn’t required to post a review.
Abby’s latest book was a joy to read! When Gen’s best friend begs her to help her brother train his dog she refuses because he broke her heart leaving and never saying why. Now she still doesn’t want anything to do with him but his sister finally makes her give in. Professionally distant initially, slowly the old feelings being around him surface and her teaching his dog to be obedient has her starting to let her guard down. He finally confesses why he didn’t contact her originally and the guilt over not doing so later when he could. Finally getting a dog so he hoped she would train it was a long shot in tying to give him a second chance to win her back!
I enjoyed this book and wholeheartedly and enthusiastically recommend it as one you’ll like! Even when someone hurts you the feelings you had for them are still there no matter how you try to tell yourself differently when you really loved that person.
It’s a story of forgiveness and bonding over a rambunctious Husky who is a handful but seems to possess a inane ability to sense what these two humans need and helps bring them together.
If you’re looking for a warm hearted no spice story to just settle down with I suggest this book. I don’t think you’ll regret your decision!
In the list of most unusual ways to try to win an ex back, adopting a dog so that your dog trainer ex can help you train them is certainly up there. And yet, it worked out well for Luke and Genevieve... and led to a very entertaining story along the way. Luke might have gotten in a little more than he'd bargained for with Bogey (his adopted Siberian husky who liked to escape and dig... as huskies often do), but it really did give him the perfect excuse to reach out to Genevieve to help him out. As they spend more time together, all the old feelings start to return, and I couldn't help but enjoy seeing them work things out and get their second chance at a happily ever after. Their story was really sweet. Bogey added a lot of fun, but it also tackled some real issues like anxiety very well. If you enjoy golf romance, cute (and mischievous) pets and a second chance romance, this is definitely one to add to your TBR. It was a great ending to this fun series!
Faking Fore-Ever is a closed-door romance with kisses only and no language. It is part of The Love Playbook Series. This is a multi-author series with each book featuring a different sport and pet. They can be enjoyed as standalones or in any order.
**ARC received for consideration. All opinions are my own.
This is the final book in the Love Playbook series. While it can be read as a standalone, you'll want to read the full series.
This is a second chance, exes to lovers romcom. Luke let Genevieve go and after years of regret has decided to get a dog in the hopes to get her to agree to be his dog trainer. Genevieve has never really gotten over Luke and only agrees to help as a favor to his sister.
As they start to spend time together, feelings start to surface again. This book will have you laughing out loud one moment and swoon smiling the next. And you'll also love the husky, Bogey, and wish you could have a pet just like him!
This book snagged my attention from the start and had me finishing it within a day. I also now need to pick up "Blindsided by Fake Love" so that I can get the background on Kit and Beau's story. Abby Greyson is a new to me author, and I'm excited to get to read the rest of her books!
I received an advance copy and all thoughts and opinions are my own.
Quotes: "...life is uncertain and filled with surprises."
"Sometimes life just shows you chances. It's up to you if you want to take them."
"Asking for help isn't weakness...it's a form of strength."
Genevieve fell in love with her college best friend's brother, she thought he felt the same way, but when he went on the pro golf circuit, she didn't hear from him again. Luke always regretted letting his father separate him from Gen, but it has been years since they have seen each other and he desperately needs help with the rescue Husky he adopted. Gen only agrees to help with Bogey, Luke's adopted because his sister and her friend begged her to, and she convinces herself that she can help him train the active dog without personal feeling getting involved. Such wonderfully written and realistic characters that made me laugh and swoon just a bit. I loved this sweet and clean romantic comedy with grumpy pro golf player, a pet adoption, a sweet sunshine dog trainer, interesting twists, and a happily ever after. A must-read sports romance I recommend to other readers.
I voluntarily reviewed a complimentary ARC provided by Book Sprout.
What would you do for a second chance at love? That is what Luke needed to decide, in the form of a loving, high energy, untrained husky. The hope? That Genevieve, the girl he left behind when he turned pro, will take pity on him and agree to help him train the dog. Gen isn’t interested in the man who walked away and never looked back. She followed his golf career but was not about to offer her services until his sister, who she occasionally works with, intervenes. What follows is a journey of destroyed lawn, new routines, dealing with a father who wants total control back, and lots of fun moments mixed into remind Gen and Luke of the feelings they once had. I received an early copy and this is my honest review. w.
What a great story—I loved Gen and Luke’s journey. Luke adopts a Husky to help manage his anxiety, but he’s also hoping for a second chance with his ex. Gen, now a dog trainer, wants nothing to do with him… until her best friend (and his sister) convinces her to help.
Bogey absolutely steals the show—such a smart, lovable dog and a perfect addition to the story. As Gen works with Luke to train him, they’re forced to confront their past and everything that went wrong between them.
This was a heartfelt second-chance romance with a satisfying HEA. A great addition to the Love Playbook series and definitely worth the read.

Love love love it! Abby always writes stories that make you fall in love with her characters since page one. These two were not the exception. There is everything in this one forced proximity, Fake dating, a second chance and a very playful husky. He needed help, they told him to get a pet but they never thought he would pick a dog, more important a husky who likes to hide his stuff. She was just going about life until her best friend (his sister) asked her to help him with the furry friend he has. And it all starts from there. The sparks are still flying, the looks, the smiles, the forced time they spend together, all of it. I was here for Gen and Luke!!! This series has been amazing and this book was a great ending for it♥︎
This is my voluntary review of a copy I was given.
Luke might be to blame for breaking Gen's heart, but there were extenuating circumstances. He was young and under the thumb of his domineering father. When he finally gets free from his dad, he realizes he wants her back.
Genevieve isn't too sure she can handle being around Luke, and she's right. The attraction is still there. The love is still there. The fear of getting her heart broken again is there. But she sees that he's different than he had been when they were together years ago.
It was fun watching them navigate their new relationship and watching it bloom into something more.
Abby Greyson is an automatic read for me and if she isn’t on your automatic read list, the. You’ve been missing out! This story is no exception to her list of amazing books.
I love that this book has a husky in it. I love husky’s and want one but I know how high energy and demanding they can be and I think the author did a fantastic job of making it very believable. I do wish the Epilogue wouldn’t have skipped quite so much time because I would have loved to known how he conversation with Luke went after speaking with Theo at the cafe!
I also loved the Forest Gump references between Gen and Kit. It is such a great movie!
Luke and Genevieve’s story was such a cute read!! You can’t go wrong with a cute dog to bring them together….
To keep up with the dog them… Yep, Luke is adorable. A golden retriever for Gen, and his decision to adopt a husky puppy to win back his ex was inspired, and a little misguided.
The story overall was cute, cozy and super charming, and I loved JB, Kit and Beau… Overall, a sweet story, and well worth curling up with for a lovely escape.

Bogie the husky was definitely the star of this second chance story. There’s nothing like an adorable dog to help bring two people together. This was a great addition to the multi-author The Love Playbook series. I did have a small issue with all the side characters (Kit, Beau, Cole, and a few other mentions of rugby players) because it seemed like I should have already known who these people were. Maybe this is a spinoff of one of the author’s other books? No clue as this is a new to me author.
Faking Fore-Ever is part of The Love Playbook Series.
Luke made some mistakes in the past with Genevieve and when he is given the opportunity to make it up to her, he jumps at it as fast as he can. Gen isn't the most forgiving, but as a favour to her friend she is willing to help her ex with his dog training. Along the way, these two reconnect and discuss where everything went wrong. Having dogs in the story always helps and this one was a matchmaker as it brought Luke and Gen back together.
A second chance romance that is so satisfying. Luke gets a dog to help with anxiety and needs a dog trainer to teach him how to manage the chosen dag ( a husky) who specializes in escape and running away from him. Fortunately he knows who to call...Genevieve, the one he walked away from on advice from his father. A delightful story about training an incredibly smart dog, golf, and second chances. Terrific characters, sweet moments, romance, and loads of laughs right to the end. I loved it!
I was so honored to be an ARC reader for this book!!
I really enjoyed the characters in this book. I thought Bogey was an added bonus in getting the MFC back in the picture with her ex. It was endearing that the dog ended up being an emotional support animal for the MMC’s anxiety, but also proved valuable in their relationship.
I received an ARC from Abby Greyson in exchange for an honest review.
This book was AMAZING!! It got be hooked from the beginning. I fell in love with Bogey (the husky). He was so cute and mischievous. I love second chance romances and Luke and Genevieve gave me that. It was so fun to watch them slowly fall back in love throughout this book. This book had me reading through the night and I highly recommend it!! 🫶🏼
A cute, easy read that genuinely made me laugh more than once. The banter was fun, but the pacing felt a bit too fast for me, especially with the POV switching every chapter. It made it harder to fully settle into the story. Overall, still a sweet, enjoyable read! And I love, love, loved Bogey! (I cannot forget about that Husky lol)
What a fantastic story! Enjoyable characters, especially Bogie; he had my heart. I’m not a fan of golf, but this romance is fun. I was hooked from the beginning, and then throw in Bogie, coffee, and love. This book is a fun and Entertaining read from beginning to end!
I love the second chance. I love how Luke finally get Gen to listen to him. Great characters. I love Kit and JB and how supportive they both are. I was also glad that Luke's dad came around.
I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.
This is a fun read with laugh-out-loud moments and real emotions. The characters, their struggles and feelings, the small-town meddling, and the cutest dog are perfectly mixed to form a brilliant story. Well done!
This book is so precious! Luke had gone through some trauma. It’s so sweet to watch him get a dog so he can reach out to “the one that got away” and ask her to hep train him. The rebuilding of this relationship was cool to watch unfold.
Thank you for the arc Abby and Booked with the Emilys.
This is a charming sweet and clean second chance romance. I enjoyed the characters, especially Bogey. He definitely stole the show. I highly recommend reading this sports romcom.

This was a fun read! It's a sweet and clean second chance romance. Low drama, except for a mouthy husky lol. A pleasure to read. Tropes: second chance, sports, dog. Thanks for the early read Abby!
