Earth was never meant to be found… For eons, Earth’s existence has been hidden from the Interstellar Concord, and ruled in secret by a small circle of immortal elites known as Praetors. The most powerful among them is Adrian Morgan, and he just happens to be the wealthiest man on the planet.
Aldric Vale is stranded on Earth yet again after Adrian Morgan locked him out of the jump gate back to Concord. What’s more, Adrian has revealed a terrifying secret about Aldric’s own past.
Forced to grapple with uncomfortable truths, Aldric’s only allies are his murderous android co-pilot, Nexara, and investigative journalist, Lena Hart, a woman who now fears him almost as much as their enemies. Aldric must find some way to reconcile with his past, reactivate the gate, and expose Earth’s existence before the Praetors silence them for good.
But the gate is under Morgan’s control.
And he is hunting them.
Every move they make tightens the noose.
If Earth rejoins Concord, the Praetors lose everything.
And if it doesn’t, its people will never even know what was stolen from them.

#2 may be better than #1! As Aldric tries to save the innocent people he feels responsible for, he ends up with no choice but involving them in his battle to right past wrongs. It is Sci-Fi, and space Sci-Fi at that. Just wanted to put that out there. I love that his love interest, Lena, so quickly becomes a warrior and huge asset, instead of just a sniveling, screaming female. I also love that the main "good guys" characters have some wins. I hate when a story is never ending set backs and big losses. You have to give them a few wins or else how can we believe the good guy can ever win in the end? If you didn't read the first of the series, it may be a tough go at first, but I think you'd be ok after a while. If you did read the 1st book, you will be very happy with this one. It picks right up where #1 left off, and I'm certain there will be a #3, because while it ended with a definite ending, it was pretty well spelled out there will be another book coming, so we can see the ultimate conclusion.
Well, staying up until 3a.m. To read might not have been the wisest thing, but I just couldn't stop reading this book. Aldric, Nexara, Lena and others were a wonderful treat to watch how they interplay with each other as they try to find the best way to get Aldric's memory back, and to get the codes for using the gate to get to Concord. Plus they have to stop Caius while trying to get to Concord. It is one heart-stopping event after another. Thank you, Jasper T. Scott, for continuing this story in such a marvelous way. I can't wait for the next book in this series. Just let me get some sleep first, please.
Mr Scott has created a wonderful series with "Starborn." In "Starborn: Lines of Succession" The story, flawed characters, their relationships continue to evolve. Through many challenges, twists and unpredictable events, the novel entrances the reader. The characters are well defined as is the backdrop and in line with the first book (both very much worth reading!). A must read if you want to go to a faraway place.
Aldric's character is coming out as he hunts down his identity, and has to protect his new friends. Great blend of adventure, plot, and politics, with quite a number of twists and turns. Good and bad are blurry here - learning more of Aldric we see he had a complex past, and far more than meets the eye.
Well, the master wordsmith, Jasper T. Scott, has managed to keep me awake until the wee hours of the morning, again! Lines of Succession is the second book of the Starborn series and it picks up where book one ended. Same well-developed characters that use the storyline to pull the reader into the excitement and hold their attention until the final word. I have throughly enjoyed this series and am already anxious for book three. Enjoy!
This is the second book of the Starborn series and I loved it.
The story is full of adventure, trauma, is fast paced and well worth reading. I recommend this series. Read Starborn (the previous book) first before reading this one.
What will happen to Earth if it’s never found. Aldric knows that time is running out. Unfortunately Adrien knows some secrets that cause big problems and danger. Another exciting book that you don’t want to miss.
