Perfect for fans of TO ALL THE BOYS I’VE LOVED BEFORE, THE FILL-IN BOYFRIEND, BETTER THAN THE MOVIES, and anyone who can't resist fake dating, childhood crushes, and the no-kissing rule that's definitely getting broken.
Nicole Lightwood writes emotionally immersive young adult romance—from grounded contemporary stories to magical fantasy worlds where danger and desire collide. Whether her characters are navigating high school or breaking curses with forbidden magic, she's here for the slow burns, the banter, and the moments that stay with you long after the last page.
She lives on a small farm in Kentucky with her husband, five children, three Dobermans, and an unreasonable number of geese. When she's not torturing her characters (lovingly), she's sketching them, haunting bookstores, or collecting books the way dragons hoard shiny things.
I went into The No-Kissing Contract expecting a fun fake-dating YA romance, and somehow got emotionally attacked in the best possible way.
What makes this book work so well is how real the relationships feel. The friendships are messy and layered, the romantic tension simmers under every interaction, and the emotional misunderstandings hit painfully hard because you completely understand why every character feels the way they do.
The slow unraveling of Ethan and June’s dynamic had me HOOKED. And Sebastian Thorne? Obsessed. The quiet, intimidating rich boy energy mixed with all the buried history and unresolved tension was exactly my kind of character setup. Every scene with him felt charged before anything even happened.
The setting also deserves praise because it feels alive in that nostalgic coastal Florida way — it all creates this dreamy atmosphere that felt lived-in and real.
I received this book as an ARC and it was really cute! It had me gushing and nervous at times. This book had very swoon moments that made me feel like I was in the story. I loved it!
