I have a confession to make as much as I love reading K. Webster’s dark erotic suspense romance stories, I am also a sucker for a sweet second chance love stories. And The Road Back To Us was definitely one HOT sweet read. Truly this book was brimming with a perfect combination of sweet and sexy. Well to be more exact, it was sinfully steamy!!!! Yes that's right only K. Webster can make being stranded in a remote outhouse sexy.

#TheRoadBackToUs

I think Kristi is secretly telling me that she can hook me into falling for her sweet second chance romance stories, in which she did BIG TIME. I practically inhaled reading The Road Back To Us and was smiling ridiculously as K.Webster was able to weave a story of a married couple reconnecting and finding that spark that was lost in their marriage. What I love about this book was how raw Ms. Webster paints a real relationship and that sometimes we lose sight of what is important till you lose it. And in this beautiful and sexy tale, Ms. Webster allows readers to feel the love of Caroline and Bentley as they rediscover their wants, hopes and dreams for each other. And of course, there are plenty of sexy steamy scenes that will have your e-readers burning up.

So it’s true, I love reading K. Webster’s books. I love her creativity and imagination as she brings all types of romance alive. But one thing is for certain, she has a way of making you crave for more. Ahem...Kristi, you know what I am talking about regarding that epilogue.

P.S. Kristi- The ogre better get a book soon!! lol

A marriage in trouble story. After 11 years together, the h becomes what she thought her husband wanted: a meek, housewife who shops and goes to lunch between manicure appointments, a shadow of herself. Then she blames it all on him. The H becomes a master of the universe financial trader and millionaire who works All The Time and pushes his wife away. Then he blames it on the fact that he was doing it all for her. These two knuckleheads are weeks away from a divorce that neither wants, but can't seem to stop. After a near-fatal car accident they are stranded in a blizzard. They take the time to work on their marriage and actually communicate in an honest way. That is, they do all that in between vigorous bouts of sex in freezing conditions and with injuries. (Seriously, these two go at it constantly) Both characters do a complete 180 and become someone else entirely for their HEA.

If you want to read the fantasy, it's not a bad story. I just couldn't buy into the plot and skimmed most of this book.

I always like books where the H/h start off as a couple or are already married, too bad there's not many of them. This was a sweet novel about a couple who have been married for eight years and are on the verge of a divorce because they have just drifted apart and taken each other for granted. It takes a snowstorm and a crazy accident to get their heads on straight and realize that they have a lot to fight for.

I enjoyed it for the most part but the h could've been a little stronger. She cried over the littlest things. And the sex could've used some toning down. They went at it day and night. Their car fell off a hill and was buried under snow but they still managed to have sex! Lol, I get you guys need to reconnect and sex is the simplest way but sex after sex gets repetitive and boring.

I help him stay grounded and he helps me fly.

This was a good read. A married couple who are so close to a finalized divorce, end up having to fight for their lives together. I thought this was a pretty sweet read. It’s pretty smutty too, but this author always weaves in the perfect amount of romance and unique plot.

Too much messing around

I swear this book had a s@x scene every other page. I just started skimming through those because the rest of the book was interesting. I love marriage in peril books where there is no cheating. I also love when the H is the one fighting hard for the marriage to succeed after he messed up. This book has both of those. The husband just wanted to make money so he was working long hours. The wife lost herself on her journey to be a Stepford wife. They reconnect during a bad accident on a snowy road. They are stranded with no heat and no food at one point. They do find shelter but they are facing multiple challenges. While all this is happening they find the time to 'fool around' around 165 times. I swear there were more pages filled with that activity than the struggle to survive. They are semi comatose but guess what, they still have time to have raunchy s@x. It wasn't even romantic really. I hated the way he thought and talked about it too. It was crude to say the least, so why three stars? Because I loved the epilogue!!! It was so cute. Plus I did like the story of the way they reconnected and came back together. I just wish it had been more romantic.

2,5 stars!

To be honest, I expected a bit more heartbreak.

Caroline and Bentley have been a couple since college. 8 years into their marriage they have filed for divorce. On their way to his mom‘s to spend one last Christmas as a „happy“ couple they get into a bad snow storm and have to fight for their lives.

This could have been the perfect opportunity to hash out all their problems, to break their hearts and mend them. But what I got was problem solving through sex. Don’t get me wrong, sex is great but getting naked in a snow storm would be the last thing on my mind when I was cold, tired, hungry and fighting for my life in said snow storm.

I‘m sorry but that part was just ridiculous.

I also felt like everything was too focused on the snow. If they hadn‘t been caught in it for days, they definitely would have gotten that divorce. I probably would have liked it better if the snow storm was the catalyst for their reconciliation and they were talking it through afterwards.

I couldn’t give this more than 2,5 stars. But please note that that is more because of disappointed expectations and not because the book is badly written.

I never thought K. Webster could make me love a book more than Broken. I was so, so wrong. The Road Back to Us has just jumped to the favorite among her novels. When I hit the last page, I literally went back to the beginning and started reading it again. This second chance romance is angst, love, and steamy romance. Not to mention the great cast of characters.
Caroline and Bentley have drifted apart, become two different people, ones who cannot find a way to coexist. On the verge of divorce, they decide to spend one last Christmas with Bentley’s family before admitting to them that they are calling it quits. Along the way, they are stranded in a horrific winter storm and forced to brave the elements and rely on each other to survive.
Caroline doesn’t even know who she is anymore. She just knows that she is tired of being ignored and always put behind work on Bentley’s priority list. She has struggled to become everything she thought she should be for Bentley to have the perfect wife. She doesn’t seem to fully recognize that she doesn’t like who she is and blames Bentley for it. She still loves him, but she doesn’t believe they can find a way to mend what’s been broken.
Bentley has only ever wanted to give Caroline the world. He’s worked his ass off to be unbelievably successful so that she won’t ever want for anything. Unfortunately, this desire leads to the destruction of their relationship, because along the way, he missed the signs that what she wanted was him and only him. He was blinded by what he thought was important, but in Caroline’s eyes, work was his new love. Bentley is so in love with her that their deteriorating marriage is breaking him apart, but pride demands that he not show it and it puts blinders up to where he is unable to admit that he is at fault.
It takes two to break up a marriage, but as I read on, I discovered that it was Caroline who was truly hiding behind denial. Her blinders were even thicker than Bentley’s. Because if she would have stopped and opened up, clearly communicated with him rather than shutting him out, then all of this might have been avoided. It takes being stranded together and an ultimate need to rely on each other for her to realize that there is a possibility of finding their way back to each other.
It would be easy to dislike Caroline at the beginning of the book, but it quickly becomes clear that she is very lost and relying on others to mold her into what she thinks she should be. The author straddled that line brilliantly because while I didn’t like the exterior, I saw that she was playing a part, that the real Caroline was locked away. That’s when I started rooting for her. I wanted her to find herself and for that to lead her back to Bentley.
My heart broke for Bentley. While it took him a little bit to recognize the part his devotion to work played in losing his wife, he openly admits that he loves her and doesn’t want a divorce. Bentley wants to hash things out, to figure out what went wrong and how to fix it. His frustration as the way Caroline clams up is completely understandable. No relationship can survive without clear communication. I wanted him to be able to convince her to give him another shot, for her to see how much he still adored her. It certainly didn’t hurt his cause that were still insatiably attracted to each other.
There is witty dialogue, smoking hot passion, adventure, fear, and a whole other host of emotions that build this into a fabulous story. But mostly, for me, it was heartwarming. This is a “feel good” book for me. It goes on my list of re-reads that are pulled out specifically when I need a pick-me-up.
I am a huge K. Webster fan and I love all of her books, but The Road Back to Us is something truly special. I loved every second of it, and I’ll love it even more each time I read it. 5 incredible stars!

Really wanted to like this but it was rather underwhelming. The fighting for his wife happens almost immediately after starting the book. You don't get much build up and surprisingly I actually would have liked some angst (I know shocker) so that I could really feel how hard they worked to get back together.

Their problems were resolved quickly and the rest of the book is just a bunch of scenes of them having no sex in the freezing wilderness. I mean...they were living off pistachios and a can of soda and not to mention the massive car crash they were in. Not sure how all that sex was even possible in their alleged conditions.

Really quite underwhelming.

A second chance romance with a married couple on the verge of divorce? As soon as I read the premise of this story I won’t lie - I had it lined up as my next read lol.

And it was exactly what I wanted! The book is short so I was easily able to read this in a day. Could the story have been fleshed out a little more? Sure. Did it affect my level of enjoyment? Nope.

We open up on a couple who have been married for 8 years and about to divorce. Bentley is an investment banker addicted to his work and his wife Caroline is basically a stepford wife. She’s miserable in this life and is so disconnected from her husband that they have both given up on each other. They plan to have the divorce finalized by the new year but before then they have to get through one more Xmas with Bentley’s family and pretend they are still together.

So off they go. But Bentley is obsessed with stopping to get work done on the road and they end up in a serious snowstorm and one thing leads to another and they crash.

And so begins the fight for survival out in the middle of this massive whiteout. But without their electronics or work or all-around noise and distractions their lives have - they can finally listen to each other and we’re quick to see that these two, despite the looming divorce, love each other fiercely and don’t actually want to give up.

The book follows them on their fight to survive and we get flashbacks of their time in college, when they first went on a date, their honeymoon, the first kiss etc... so we get a good picture of who they used to be before money and status took over.

The way they connect again is steamy and passion-fueled. I must say - there is a lot of sex in this book. But I liked it. They needed it to reconnect, and reconnect they did lol. Some reviewers didn’t like how much sex was in this book but for me it worked. They are married after all and haven spent so long disconnected from one another, they needed all that time and all that sex to remember who they were, who they are and what they mean to each other. Every sexual encounter was sexy and I was totally engrossed in it. (And yes I was blissfully ignorant of how freakin stinky they must have been after days of constant sex and no showers or toothbrushes lol).

These two had fantastic chemistry. And I loved Bentley’s caveman possession over his wife and how they pushed the envelope just a little in some of the sex they had.

All in all a great book by my standards and an easy one that you can pick up and finish off the same day.

Oh and after I finished the book - the meaning of the title clicked lol. You will see what I mean if you read this.

NoLike so many love stories, the tale of Caroline and Bentley begins when they're little more than children, still wet behind the ears and feeling their way around the obscure corridors of life. Accompanied by both love and passion that which hurtles them into the World and follows their struggles to find their way under the sun, they grow, gradually change and, eventually, grow apart.

While Bentley buries himself in work and an array of superficial pastimes in between, Caroline follows with a meaningless existence of her own, filling the emotional hole within herself by buying expensive clothes, and arranging lunch dates in trendy restaurants with “friends” who are only interested in her misfortune. One doesn't have to be a rocket scientist to see that everything about this woman is fake, created solely for the purpose of hiding the deeply unhappy person beneath it all.

In accordance to this, then, the energy between these two characters appears to shift between a wide spectre of emotions which encompasses anger, contempt, regret, which all only serves to enhance the already pent-up sexual tension tingling between them.

For a couple claiming that there is nothing more between them, they sure can push each other's buttons, provoking one another both when they have to and when they don't.

I love the idea of the author making use of the extreme meteorological situation and use it in the favor of the story. It served as the perfect background for the subject at hand whilst enhancing the characters’ already foul mood. It makes it easier for the reader to really sink into the story and get an insight into how the characters are feeling.

I actually felt like giving Bentley a slap to the back of the head a few times throughout the book. Even when Caroline and he were in the best of relations, he talked down at her as if she had no clue about life and would die if he weren't there to talk her through it. There were points in the book where I actually hoped that Caroline would punch him in the face! The man can’t take advantage of the opportunity that has been handed to him.

As the story progressed at the pace of a snail, I had the impression that the author either suffered an inspirational crises or, what is even more cause for concern, insinuated that marital problems can be solved with sex. The book thus lacks serious, heartfelt conversation during which the spouses could clearly tell each other exactly what they're dissatisfied with, despite the fact that the atmosphere the author had created was ideal.

All in all, I got the impression that the author of this book had set off to write a story about marriage, with the intention of drawing readers' attention to estrangement in marriage but got lost along the way and decided to fill in the space with needles descriptions of sexual intercourse.

At the end of the day, a disappointment.

“Care is my life. My heart. My goddamn soul. Everything else is just a backdrop to the love story that is us”

The Road Back To Us is a beautiful second chance romance. This book follows the story of Caroline and Bentley. Caroline and Bentley had the perfect romance. They fell in love, got married and thought they’d live happily ever after. Somewhere along the lines, life had other plans. Bentley became so focused on his work that he lost sight of what was really important. And Caroline began to resent him. Sure she never wanted for anything, but she was lonely and missed her husband. And after time, that resentment turned into anger. They find themselves in a spot that they never thought they’d be in, on the verge of divorce. However, with Christmas being right around the corner, they find themselves on one last road trip together. One last trip to save face with family before their entire world falls apart. Little did they know that this trip would have the power to change everything. An accident will put them to the test. With the reality that they may not survive, will Bentley and Caroline be able to put their differences? Will the two of them finally see just how precious life and love is before it’s too late?

I got lost in Caroline and Bentley’s story almost immediately. I was captivated by their situation. It was clear that despite their differences, the two of them still loved one another, but somehow, they lost their way. I was frustrated with the two of them and wanted to yell at them to stop their fighting and realize what a real and special thing that they have. They were both so stubborn. It took a car accident to finally put things in perspective. Let me tell you, I was rooting so hard for the two of them. Not many people get that second chance and here they’ve been handed one. I could only hope that the two of them would realize it before it’s too late.

The Road Back To Us took me on such a great journey. This is a great example of what a second chance romance should be. We all know that the road to happily ever after, isn’t always easy. It’s tough and sometimes ugly, but it’s so worth fighting for. This book had it all for me: romance, drama, angst, steam, suspense. By the time I got to the last page, I was grinning like a fool. This book is definitely one of my favorites from K. Webster.

I was very hesitant to read this because I've always had this mentality that if your marriage broke down, you probably don't deserve a second chance. It's stupid honestly, but it stemmed from reading way too many alpha romance who knows what they want and would possibly never let go their other halves. As well as the idea that what I read should lead to perfect marriage. Anyhow, I finally found the strength to read this and I loved it. Sometimes, marriage just needs rekindling; remembering the good old days and realising that leaving this person is not something on your agenda list at all... and sometimes divine intervention. I liked that they never really fell out of love with each other, but their circumstances led them to a situation where they forgot how much they really meant to each other. It sucks that it took a near death experience to keep fighting but like I said... divine intervention and all.

❤~🌟~❤ 4.5 Snowbound Stars! ❤~🌟~❤

"Right in the midst of our icy hell, we’ve carved out a little slice of paradise."

I am HOOKED on wilderness survival romances and am CRAZY OBSESSED with K. Webster’s writing, so I knew THE ROAD BACK TO US would be a win-win for me! This book, which revolves around an embittered couple who are on the verge of finalizing their divorce after 11 years of marriage and get a second chance at love when they are stranded in a snowstorm, is all kinds of amazing!

I fell so hard in love with Bentley, a workaholic, highly successful investment banker who lost his way and put his demanding job over his beloved wife. He is BRUSQUELY ALPHA, SEXY AS SIN, and so GROWLY and UBER PROTECTIVE he gave me shivers! And his love for his wife is as CARNAL as his insatiable desire for her!

"Care is my life. My heart. My goddamned soul. Everything else is just a backdrop to the love story that is us."

In fact, his whole purpose for getting in the rat race to begin with was to provide his “Care Bear” with the life he thought she deserved. But the problem was that all Caroline really ever wanted was his love, and the life of a “trophy wife” zapped all the passion out of her.

This heroine wormed her way into my heart, too. Because while on the surface Care appears to be a rich, snobby socialite, deep down she is the same beautiful, sweet, vivacious girl that Bentley first fell madly in love with. She just lost her sense of self along the way and the festering resentment on both sides caused them to drift apart to the point that they stopped fighting for each other and divorce seemed the easiest option.

But when the squabbling duo get in a car wreck during a raging blizzard on the way to Bentley’s mom’s house for Christmas, all pretenses bite the dust and they finally strip each other bare (literally and figuratively ) and realize their marriage is SO WORTH FIGHTING FOR! But first, they need to survive the night!

As always, K. Webster wove a hot, sexy, emotionally charged page turner that permeates the heart and soul and is IMPOSSIBLE to put down. She sucked me into this marriage in crisis story so viscerally that I felt my heart beating in tandem with these incredibly nuanced characters and it felt like I was out in the elements braving the frigid temperatures and trying to stave off starvation!

I FLOVED so much about this book. I loved the snippy banter that soon morphed into sweet, love-laced endearments and gasps of earthshattering pleasure. I loved the soul burning connection that's reestablished between these MCs as they bravely face terrifying life and death circumstances that grows grimmer as each day passes. I loved their raw intensity, their desperate frenzied passion, the heartfelt flashbacks that chronicled their courtship and marriage, showcasing the good times and bad, and I loved the aching, tender-hearted emotions that were always bubbling beneath the surface. I just plain LOVED IT ALL!

"We’re two pieces of a complicated puzzle, but when you get rid of all the other pieces, it’s suddenly complete."

From start to finish, I as incredibly invested in these estranged lovers finding their way back together again and let me say that this horny duo sure found CREATIVE ways to use their body heat to keep each other warm (if you catch my drift!). The sex was MOLTEN HOT and plentiful!

My only tiny gripe is that I would have liked a slower build up to their reunion. The switch was flipped from bitter animosity to sweet professions of love pretty early on, and while I adored all the lovey dovey stuff, I felt more sustained romantic friction would have kept the momentum going a little longer and made their reconciliation even more palpable. But that aside, I really CHERISHED this story!

BOTTOM LINE;
THE ROAD BACK to us made me smile and cry, sigh and swoon, blush and squirm... and ultimately FEEL ALL THE FEELS! It is guaranteed to keep you toasty warm on even the coldest of nights!

A MUST READ!

This was such a beautiful story of two souls connecting again. This story touches so many aspects of a marriage and brings prospective back. Sometimes couples let everyday life consume them and they forget about the one standing beside them on their journey. It lets you know that communication and honesty are key in a working marriage. And never let the flame you have for one another burn out. Great read.

Caroline and Bentley are calling it quits. Bentley is married to his job and has abandoned his wife. Caroline has become a self-centered diva. She only cares about herself and is finally ready to leave the man she once loved. Bentley hasn’t told his family about the divorce, so Caroline agrees to one final holiday away with his family as a married couple before their divorce gets finalized. They haven’t touched each other in months, Caroline knows Bentley is banging his secretary since he no longer touches her.

“Yeah. I fucked her on the hood of my new car, and her pussy was so sweet.”

“I fucking chose my job over her. I chose Armani over her. I chose a stupid ass car over her.”

While traveling in Bentley’s new sexy ride to see his family, a snow storm hits and causes them to get in an accident. With nobody around to help, Caroline is stuck with Bentley trying to survive in the bitter cold. Keep in mind, they can’t stand to be in the same room as each other let alone stuck in the car with nowhere to go. How will Bentley survive without his laptop and cell phone since he’s such a workaholic?

“Dammit, Care, it wasn’t supposed to happen to us. We were supposed to last. We weren’t supposed to fucking drift apart. How do we fix this? Please tell me we can stop this and figure out a way to be together.

The Road Back to Us is a sweet and swoonworthy second chance romance. I have to say that out of ALL Ms. Websters books, this is my new favorite. As much as I loved Jackson, and I do mean LOVED the hell out of him, I FLOVE Bentley even more. The ass that we think he is, finally opens up and we see him for the sweet, gentle man he really is under that tough macho exterior he uses as a front. At first, Caroline was a major snob and I really disliked her annoying snobbish ass, but in true Webster form, we finally get a better understanding of how Caroline turned into who she is today. I really fell in love with the characters and I love it when I can connect with them as well as connecting with the story. This heart-warming story of two people who lost their way will leave you smiling and wishing you can have your own Bentley.

I was allowed this book from the author in exchange for an honest review.

“We’re the perfect compliment to each other. I help him stay grounded and he helps me fly.”

The Road Back to Us is an emotional and beautiful story of Iove finding its way home.

“Every time we have a disagreement, promise me that you’ll fight for me and not against me. And that we’ll always end it with a kiss.”

Caroline and Bentley Harrison have a long history together that has included the normal ups and downs of dating and marriage. Somewhere along the way, we see that they lost track of one another and the important things.  Now they are near their end. As we begin the story, we become privy to the inner workings of their relationship, and how they really feel about what is happening in their lives.  A trip to pacify family members changes everything for them, and gives endless possibilities for the future. Snacks, snow, a cabin, and the Mountain Man brighten our reading time and give us an unforgettable journey.

“Let’s go make fire, Romeo.”

K. Webster is one of my favorite authors. Her stories are identifiable and make you want to pull up a chair and stay for a while.  Well, this one actually made me want to grab my pillow and blanket and curl up on the couch with a box of tissues. What words would I use to describe this story?  Honest, heart-breaking, and tearful. Then, beautiful, restorative, and awe-inspiring. I was captivated with the entire story. I connected with it on a level that was totally outside of the pages in a book.  Every part of me was lost to their story, from beginning to end. I laughed with them, cried with them and danced around the room in the end. Outside of the main couple, one of my favorite characters was Harley. He rocked his part in the story, and that ending…I am begging for more of him!  Another great read from this author.

“You’re the one I want. I only have and only ever will love you.”
