Chloe feels incredibly real, like a friend telling you her story. There were moments where I genuinely wanted to shake some sense into her, but that just made her journey feel even more authentic, and I loved every minute of it. Her experiences pull you in and keep you invested throughout.
There were a few moments that made me cringe, but they seemed intentional and added to the storyline rather than taking away from it. We’re introduced to a wide range of characters, and with each chapter, I found myself getting more and more interested in where things were going.
I can’t wait to read more from this series, and I hope there’s something slightly different in each book to keep it interesting.
Love and relationships are hard to navigate at any age but this author showed how much emotions and growth it takes to really realize what you want and who you want it with. I’m so happy Chloe didn’t give in to her mother’s constant badgering and waited until she found her true love.
Perfect is basically Chloe’s long‑term audition for “The Bachelorette: Business Major Edition,” and honestly? I was entertained. This girl is out here powering through college, dumping her high‑school sweetheart, flirting with a basketball player, and then getting proposed to like it’s a group project she forgot she signed up for.
Chloe refuses to compromise — which is admirable, but also hilarious, because the universe keeps throwing men at her like it’s trying to speed‑run her love life. Every time she turns around, someone else is down on one knee. At this point she should’ve installed a velvet rope and a ticketing system.
She’s grinding through business classes, building a career in fashion, and somehow still managing to collect FIVE potential husbands like she’s curating a limited‑edition set. And the best part? She’s the only one who knows who she’ll actually end up with. The rest of us are just along for the ride, clutching our popcorn and judging her choices like the supportive gremlins we are.
The vibes are light, the banter is fun, and the drama is just messy enough to keep me invested without making me want to throw my Kindle. Chloe’s journey is less “finding love” and more “narrowing down the chaos,” and honestly? Relatable.
4 stars because: It’s fun. It’s breezy. It’s chaotic in a way that feels intentional. But it’s not deep enough to emotionally ruin me, and you KNOW I love a little emotional destruction. Still, watching Chloe navigate five proposals like she’s running a romantic obstacle course? Absolutely worth the read.
A light, sassy, choose‑your‑husband adventure with enough drama to keep you entertained and enough heart to keep you rooting for Chloe — even when she’s making choices that make you want to yell into a pillow.
Chloe goes to college away from home. Over the summer she still takes classes while working an internship. Her high school boyfriend still lives in their hometown. Mid-semester she’s finally able to get to go home for a visit, when she finally realizes that being away for college changed something within her and now she’s got some decisions to make. As Chloe ages and grows, so does her idea of the “perfect” relationship and person, and when outside influencers have a say/sway, things get messy and complicated.
Overall, the book was pretty good. I felt like much of the storyline was rushed or jumps around and there was some very confusing moments that made me reread many parts. As a person who has dealt with family input and influence when it comes to relationships, I did finally learn and understand where to draw that line and make my own decisions and tune out all the “noise” from people who don’t live my life and make my own choices. I was glad to see that Chloe finally made her way and chose her path over what other’s opinions were. Overall it was a good book, while it’s part of a series, it’s easily read as a standalone.
Perfect by Maria Jane. 4 of 5 Stars. An enjoyable and engaging contemporary romance, which kept me happily turning the pages. Chloe is driven and is taking sophomore-level college business classes, determined to be successful. Having decided to end things with her now long distance, high school sweetheart, he proposes. However, she’s just hit it off with a hunky basketball player, and wants to concentrate on her career. Having graduated and become a successful rising star within the fashion industry, Chloe gets another four opportunities at love. However, every time they propose, Chloe must decide if they are her forever man. I loved being alongside Chloe as she has five passionate paths to finding her ultimate perfect love. Chloe is relatable and likeable, and I felt invested in her getting her happy ending. Full of romance, tender moments, and lighthearted banter, I was hooked throughout! Although part of a series it is a standalone story. However, I have enjoyed the other books in the series, and I would recommend reading them!
Chloe has always wanted the perfect relationship because it is what her mother has pushed on her. That she needed someone in her life with stability. She thought she had that with Adam but he had planned out their whole relationship without even asking her what she wanted. She then meets Isaac a basketball player at the University of Kentucky. She thinks things are going great with him until she gets a chance to go to Paris on scholarship. While in Paris she meets Chase a handsome Parisian that helps at his family’s vineyard. Could this be the relationship she is looking for? But after her time in Paris she decides to move to New York for job opportunities. She is now 30 and the youngest VP of her company. However on her thirtieth birthday she is hit by a bike rider while trying to protect her mother and breaks her arm at her elbow. She runs into said bike rider three weeks later at the coffee shop and her friend Kim gives him her information and tells him to message her and she will make sure she replies. This could possibly be the start of a great relationship.
This is my first Maria Jane book and it was a super cute love story and life story broken up into 6 different paths Chloe's life could have/had taken. I do wish Mariah had put an author's note explaining how each part changes from the previous but other then that it was pretty cute!
This book is everything I didn't know I needed. We start off by meeting the FMC and she is just like almost everyone I know, she very well could even be like you. I love that the author has made her so relatable that everyone either knows of a person like her or is the person like her. She has the "perfect" image of what a great relationship looks like, not only from her own thoughts but also those of her mother. She seems to just fumble every relationship she has. Then she is looking back on them thinking maybe they were the one. Then by the time she starts to feel that way she meets someone new. She seems to have everything together in her life: education, work, friends; but seems to always fall short with love. She then has an accident and meets yet another man, could this man be the one, could she possibly get her "perfect" relationship. That is what you will be asking yourself while reading this book. It took me in directions I didn't see coming. My heart broke along with the FMC when some of these relationships ended. This book had me talking to her as if she was my friend and needed someone to point out what great guys she was meeting and maybe her version of perfect isn't out there. As any girls girl would do for their bestie. I couldn't put this book down and it was such an easy quick read because I was invested in what was going to happen next. There is banter in this book that had me literally lol'ing. It is a book that will allow you to disappear from your day to day while reading it. I can't wait to read more from this author.
Perfect is a story about a girl who is on a quest to have the perfect relationship. However even though the perfect scenario is laid out(can be confusing at times) the reader is brought back down to earth by potential scenarios that are reality, in reference to what’s really going on. I’ve read a book like this before and I feel the same way. The story itself is good but the jumping around aspect can be a little much. Chloe wants bigger things in life. She doesn’t want to be trapped in a small town, strapped to man to follow around, she wants someone that will accept her for who she is and treat her as such. But before any of that can happen she needs to grow up herself. She falls quickly but not deeply enough to keep them around. It doesn’t help that she has her mom in her ear making negative remarks about her and her lifestyle. Once she can mute the noise and understand that no relationship is perfect she may very well find the man who is perfect for her. In the meantime she works her way up in the fashion industry and becomes a powerhouse living in the big city. She may not have seen herself in fashion but she knew, even when she wasn’t sure, that she wanted to be in a big city. How long will it take for her to realize her true worth? Always the mother hen but in relationships she needs the maturity to happen to keep them going strong. The author wrote a good story/adventure of a girl trying to find herself. If that’s the type of book you look for, you found the right place. So jump on in and share what you think.
This was the first book I’ve read by this author, and it was definitely a unique reading experience. It is a clean romance with a happily ever after, even though it takes quite a while to get there. The story follows the main character through different moments in her life as she constantly overthinks every interaction and relationship with the guys she meets. What really stood out to me was the structure. It honestly felt like I was reading one of those choose your own adventure books, except I didn’t get to choose! A chapter would end, and the next one would start the same scenario over again but with a completely different outcome. It was a little strange. The timeline also jumped around a lot. It would suddenly say “three weeks later,” then “a year later,” but not much would actually happen in between. Instead of a continuous story, it felt more like moments of the main character’s life and relationships. Although I didn’t particularly enjoy it, I do think this would be a good romance for teenage girls who are just starting to read the genre. It’s a sweet, clean story with a satisfying ending that younger readers would probably enjoy.
Chloe is just what I needed 🥰 all 3 my kids are dating and all are googly eyed and in love which is sweet to watch and listen to them plan their futures and let’s be honest we all have our dreams of what life and love should be and both are not perfect but a beautiful journey 🥰😉 I think it’s why I found this so relatable 😉
Chloe sure seems to have choices I mean it’s not everyone that can say they’ve been proposed to not once , not twice but 5 times 🥰😮
Chloe seems to have everything under control except in the department of love and she’s so lucky to have Bree but I’ll be honest there were times I wanted to sit Chloe down and have a heart to heart with her 😉
Chloe has done a bit of growing up and at 30 she’s the youngest VP of her company , she is involved in an accident , and is a little battered but all good , a little while later she meets her “assailant” in a coffee shop and while I liked Chase , the Parisian guy I think she met her love of her life quite by accident 😉
This read made me think of my younger days , not that I’d change anything about my life but I think as midlife hits we often think about the what ifs and realise things worked out the way they should 😉🥰
Perfect by Maria Jane is a fresh and engaging romance that puts the power of happily ever after directly into the reader’s hands. Following Chloe’s journey from ambitious college student to rising star in the fashion industry, the novel explores the challenges of balancing career aspirations with the pursuit of lasting love. Each of Chloe’s five romantic possibilities is thoughtfully developed, offering distinct personalities, heartfelt moments, and plenty of charming banter, making every path feel like a satisfying possibility. Jane’s unique choose-your-ending format adds an interactive twist that encourages readers to reflect on what “perfect” truly means in a relationship. Warm, entertaining, and full of romance, Perfect is an enjoyable read for anyone who believes there’s more than one path to a happily ever after. It’s easy to read a story where you know the outcome and romantic “it guy” from the beginning, but this was a nice change of pace and brilliant perspective that brings in everyday life.
This isn’t the first book I’ve read by the author. The author is known to me as I’ve read a book in the Perfect Series already. In this book we get to follow Chloe as she navigates through several loves and several proposals. This is the first book in the Perfect Series, but the series can be read as a standalone series. Each book has different characters.
Chloe is still trying to figure out what she wants with life. That is why she ends things with Adam, but then again she also found a kinship with Issac. Then going to Paris changes things with them and she is once again alone. Then during her time in Paris she finds love with Chase, but then she goes back to New York. There she is hit by a bike and the owner Mason takes a liking to her. Then there’s Liam who she works with and they’ve tended to keep it under wraps. The quote I chose for her is this: “Yes, ice skating is the next biggest thing to horseback riding in central Kentucky. It gets colder than people think there. I wanted to be an Olympic figure skater when I was eight.”
This book was an interesting story on falling in love. Chloe is the main character and it follows her from college into working adulthood and all the romances that she has in between. The story is told in different parts through Chloe’s point of view as she dates and falls in love. Each man and relationship is different but each one leads her to where she is in life and her career. Some of the stories overlap and then you may rewind and have to reread a part in a different way. Chloe is relatable and inspiring and so are each of the men that she dates. This story is completely her journey, she knows what she wants in life, and she gets to make all the decisions hoping to get her happy ending.
I enjoyed this book. Chloe was a strong character and she wasn't going to let anyone tell her what to do, where to do it, or when to do it. She is away in college and still maintains relationship with her high school sweetheart. She came to realize that while she may love him it wasn't worth the effort to maintain their relationship being so far apart. Chloe continued on her path to become successful and is becoming well known in the fashion industry. Along the way she fell in love a few more times. After several proposals she definitely has a lot to think about and figure out who will be her perfect match.
It was definitely a cute idea. I do feel that the execution was a little awkward at times but I loved the fact that every part kept going back ever so slightly and restarting at a slight fork in the road to show that life is always slightly changing and one little decision could move your perfect ending, and just shift everything.
What a sweet story. It is a contemporary romance which is engaging and lighthearted. It touches on love, choices, multiple paths, romance, and which way her heart takes her. The pacing was on point and the characters were very likable especially the characters who fit the path and time frame of the moment. This was a very enjoyable book to read and I love the authors writing style.
This book was good. This is stand alone in the Perfect series. It showed how hard finding your perfect person can be. Chloe’s mom was constantly harassing her about the right person. She didn’t take her advice and found her own love.
Perfect by Maria Jane is a great book. Chloe’s life is going the direction she wants as she powers through college and her job. What is not going the direction she wants….the men. Chloe has many different men come into her life and they get serious. But she doesn’t say yes….until she finds the right one. This book made me laugh especially the badgering mother. I loved reading about Chloe and watching her grow into the women she wanted to be and finding the right man for her.
There are many ways in which love can develop, and many perfect, happily ever afters. Jane takes you on an adventure, following Chloe as she grows and experiences several romances, following them to their perfect conclusion. This has an interesting and unique premise, I've got to say, sort of like a choose-your-own-adventure vibe, where you explore the different loves of Chloe, right to their perfect ending. I think it was pretty interesting as we learnt more about Chloe and about her family life as the stories progressed. I thought there was an interesting dynamic between her and her mom that explained quite a bit about her approach to relationships. I thought Chloe was a sweet character, and it was great reading about her going for her dreams. However, there were times when she seemed overly indecisive in relationships, and I was honestly confused sometimes as to whether she truly wanted to be in the relationships she was in. I think I would have liked a little more detail and scene setting, as it felt like some moments were a little rushed, and it was tough to connect with some of the new characters when there simply wasn't enough time spent with them. Chase, for instance, is mentioned as someone Chloe is seeing, and then the relationship develops, but we don't get the meet-cute between them and the way that relationship grows and develops, and I think that would have been nice. I did think that in some of the storylines, previous characters that I had grown quite attached to felt out of character as a new perfect happy ending was explored. It's a personal preference, but I found this a little jarring when I had grown attached to the characters. I understand that in order for the other relationships to develop, the previous ones needed to end in some way, but for me, I didn’t enjoy it when previously introduced and developed characters behaved in a way that didn’t fit with their personality. If you are looking for a romantic story with a bit of a twist, then this may be the one for you. All the romances are clean, and it focuses on the different ways love can grow and how successes and failures in life can either make or break a relationship.
‘I cannot imagine a person more perfect for me than you’ – Welcome to romance!
Author Maria Jane is originally from Georgia but now lives in Denver, Colorado and now writes romance novels: PERFECT is the initial volume of a five volume series. As Tricia Copeland, she penned Young Adult novels with a paranormal tilt – including Drop of Sunshine, Lovelock Ones, and three series –Being Me series of five books, The Kingdom Journals of four books, and the five volume Realm Chronicles series.
One of the many fine aspects of Maria’s writing is her immediate connection with the reader by her conversational language. She opens her story establishing the mood: “You’re quiet. What’s wrong?” Bree glances at me and back to the windshield as she stops with a jerk in our parking space. “Just tired.” I pull the handle and push my shoulder against the door. Heaving my pack to my shoulders, I meet her in front of the car. She hooks an arm in mine as we walk to the apartment building entrance. “I usually can’t shut you up. Talk to me. What’s going on?”
The synopsis of the plot distills the story well – ‘One driven woman. Five passionate paths to the perfect love. Chloe refuses to compromise when it comes to romance and success. Powering through her sophomore-level college business classes, she’s done with the effort of distance-dating her high-school sweetheart. But when he proposes just as she hits it off with a hunky basketball player, she worries following her heart could send her bright future to the bench. As Chloe graduates to become a rising star in the fashion industry, love knocks another four times. But while each potential suitor eventually pops the question, only she knows her ultimate happy ending. Whose arms will embrace Chloe when she chooses her forever man?’
Maria allows her romance to develop gradually, due in part to her accessible writing skills, but also to her colorful imagination and wry wit. With this series, Maria proves she is a first class conjurer of pure romance novels. A delightful novel!
What a sweet and heartfelt contemporary romance. The unique story stands out for its exploration of not just one romance but several that define the protagonist's life. The author does an incredible job of balancing that feeling of a rom-com with more nuanced, emotional story development that explores both the emotional toll of looking for love and the need to find a sense of self in an often overwhelming world. The shifting chapters that explore a world in which the protagonist made one choice over another were an inspired choice, and allowed the reader to really connect to the cast of characters.
For it was the characters themselves that really made the story what it was. Not only did readers experience the inner dialogue and emotional depth of Chloe's experiences, but they also saw how both her career and her family impacted them. The struggles of her relationship with her parents, especially her mother, whose old school way of looking at things made her earliest decisions on her respective partners difficult to navigate, to the need to understand who she was outside of these relationships and how her career path dictated who she would surround herself with kept the reader engaged and on the edge of their seat with each passing chapter.
The Verdict
Heartfelt, charming, and entertaining, author Maria Jane’s "Perfect" is a must-read contemporary romance meets rom-com novel. The twists and turns in Chloe's romantic life, the heartening and heartbreaking moments, the deep emotional relationships she formed along the way, and the shocking conclusion to her journey will keep readers enthralled by each chapter's revelations.
Perfect by Maria Jane is a lighthearted and emotionally engaging contemporary romance that explores love, choice, and self discovery through a uniquely structured “multiple paths to happily ever after” narrative.
One of the novel’s most compelling strengths is its central premise. Chloe’s romantic journey unfolds across several potential relationships, each offering a different version of her future. This structure creates an engaging “what if” dynamic that keeps readers invested in both emotional outcomes and character development.
Chloe herself is portrayed as ambitious, focused, and emotionally conflicted, balancing academic and professional aspirations with the uncertainty of love. Her internal struggle between stability and emotional fulfillment forms the emotional core of the story.
Each romantic path introduces a different emotional tone and dynamic, allowing the narrative to explore compatibility, timing, and the complexity of romantic decision making. This approach gives the novel a reflective quality beneath its lighthearted surface.
The pacing and tone remain accessible and upbeat, making the book appealing to readers who enjoy clean contemporary romance with a strong emotional hook and relatable life choices.
For readers who enjoy choose your path style romance, college to career transitions, and stories centered on love, ambition, and self definition, Perfect offers an enjoyable and thoughtful reading experience.
Perfect by Maria Jane is a sweet, heartfelt romance that dives deep into love, choices, timing, and the idea that “perfect” does not always look the way you expect. I am normally a dark romance-only kind of gal, but this one was a good palate cleanser, as it didn’t focus solely on romance but on self-discovery and figuring out what truly matters when it comes to happiness and relationships. Maria Jane is a new-to-me author, and I really liked how her book showed how complicated love can be, that it’s almost always messy and unexpected. The characters she created are searching for connection, but they also have to learn more about themselves along the way. That made the romance (very clean and fade to black) feel more personal and not just about finding the right person, but also about understanding what kind of life and love would bring long-term fulfillment. If you are looking for a fun, fulfilling romance that is full of charm and sweet, closed-door love stories, then this is a series for you to pick up. Maria Jane creates a story that is romantic, thoughtful, and uplifting, with the right amount of love and a happily ever after. I can’t wait to see where this series goes in the future.
Maria Jane’s novel Perfect follows the emotional journey of Chloe Hahn Pham, a college student who believes her life path is already mapped out with her long-time boyfriend, Adam. Their relationship appears stable and loving, but distance, personal ambitions, and the realities of growing up begin to challenge what once felt certain. When Chloe meets Isaac, a confident and ambitious basketball player, she finds herself confronting questions about independence, identity, and what she truly wants from her future.
Chloe’s internal struggle between loyalty to Adam and her growing attraction to Isaac feels genuine and relatable. Rather than presenting simple choices, the novel explores how relationships evolve when personal goals and values begin to diverge.
Maria Jane has done an amazing job in this book. The book is well paced and I couldn't put it down until I finished reading it. Readers who enjoy contemporary romance with themes of personal growth, difficult decisions, etc will likely find Chloe’s story worth reading.
Oh Chloe, I don’t know that I’ve ever been so invested in someone finding love. The options and situations that Chloe was in, and why they should or shouldn’t work out had me so invested. I feel like every person has been in the situation at one point or another when there is a love interest that you want it to work out, but the universe seems likes that’s just not what is in the cards. This book often times gave me the choose your own ending vibes where you got to see how it would work out, and what other options there would be if Chloe made a different choice. I appreciated the other characters as well. The pressure that Chloe felt from her Mom, but also where her Mom was coming from within that pressure. Kim, her wanting to live in the moment and reminder that you only get one life so you should live it to the fullest. Of all the boyfriends, I’d say Adam was a little intense, and Chase was probably my favorite.
I really enjoyed reading this book and would definitely recommend it. Especially if you are looking for a nice lighthearted read.
Wow! What a delightful and different take on a contemporary romance!!!
The story starts with the main female character in college, trying to move on from her high school boyfriend, who lives far away. She ends the relationship after he visits unexpectedly and makes plans without asking her. This marks the beginning of her long journey to find her own happy ending, a journey that takes several years.
I liked how Chloe’s character was developed. She is a strong lead who stays true to her dreams and is determined to find happiness. The characters, including Chloe, have flaws that make them feel real and relatable.
From the synopsis, I wasn’t sure what a treat the author had in store for me. I was a bit confused at the beginning. Once I realized what exactly she was doing, everything became clear. The reader rarely gets to determine their desired ending, but she gives us just that. I thoroughly enjoyed this contemporary romance and look forward to reading the other books in the series
This was an entertaining and witty romance. It is the first book I read by the author and I really enjoyed it. It is a story about how when we always try to reach for perfect we could miss out on the real thing that is perfect for us. What is perfect for one person doesn’t mean it is perfect for you. We are with Chloe. I like her she is a strong ambitious woman who has ideas about what is perfect to her when that come romance as well as her life. The authors writing makes Chloe come alive and you actually feel like she could be a real person. Your friend that you are watching go through this journey.
When her long distance high school love proposes to her she worries that by following her heart she could end up losing.
As time moves on four other potential suitors come into her life but she is always left asking the same question. Which one is the perfect match for her and who will she end up with?
This is part of the Perfect series but it can be read as a standalone. I look forward to see what else the author brings to the series
I love that "Perfect" by Maria Jane is a choose-your-own "perfect romance" story. As you read this story, each part is a different path that shows what would happen if Chloe, our main character, chose to follow the different paths in her life to have the perfect relationship with the perfect man. It truly shows that life has so many different possibilities and that it is up to us to choose what path we want to follow in our lives, and then what will be will be. Each of the characters in Chloe's life is so dynamically different, and yet so perfectly stylized to showcase the many dimensions of her personality. What an amazing story. I love the fact that the reader gets to pick which outcome they like best and can see that there are so many different "perfect choices" for us, the readers, to choose from. I cannot wait to read more by this author, because this romance left me feeling so good; it was just an all-around happy read. @Brandy Rymer 06/2026
Perfect is a wonderfully written Contemporary Romance that I truly enjoyed reading. The characters are relatable, developed and creative yet make the story come to life. I enjoyed this fast paced witty yet charming romance reqd so much I devoured it in one afternoon sitting. I feel like I could relate to Chloe as my younger self, the older version not so much. Chloe is a very ambitious yet driven woman who isn’t settling in love or life. Throughout the story she’s kicking butt one subject at a time, grinding through classes, business and 5 different potential husband’s like it’s no one’s business. The journey she takes us on has some fun yet heartwarming moments that definitely makes you think and come to a realization that “perfect” isn’t the same for everyone yet it doesn’t really exist. I highly recommend reading this book to find out what happens next. I can’t wait to read more from this Author.
