Really upset with myself for buying this on kindle. Was just excited at the idea of a MLM/Greys Anatomy vibe. I began to notice some tiny inconsistencies with the characters and story, and then decided to do some further digging and realized this is either completely written by AI or just heavily edited with it. Don’t waste your time. AI slop.
Bedside Manner by C.G Macington is a cute short M.M romance novel about 2 doctors, The Cardio Ice King Maxwell York and the Trauma Cowboy, trauma surgeon Jackson O'Connell. Both are cramped into one office together which leads to them budding heads for their different lifestyles. Maxwell is a member of the prestige York family and has a name to live up to. He keeps himself prim and proper and his surroundings organized, whereas Jackson is the complete opposite. Jackson is a former military trauma surgeon, who isn't as prestige as a York. With a disorganized office and a desire for eating chips Jackson and Maxwell are polar opposites. With the constant head budding and the lack of respect for each other's professions the tension between Jackson and Maxwell is at an all time high. It comes to a surprise when they develop a relationship together. Jackson helps Maxwell break out of his shell and helps him breakaway from the York prestige and take down The Ice King persona. By going to Maxwell's family dinner, suit shopping and eating greasy food together the two develop a deep connection with one another. This comes crashing down when the Chief of the hospital threatens to blackmail them and expose their relationship. Maxwell is forced into ending their relationship and bring back his Ice King ego. When Jackson gets into a severe accident Maxwell explains everything to him and they rekindle their relationship and the chief gets fired. This book was a fun quick read with a unique plot that isn't really shown in books. I think that this book has the potential for being as big as Heated Rivalry as it was entertaining with good well-written characters and good plot development. After reading this book it couldn't leave my mind for days it's worth the read.
Firstly I would like to say thank you for the ARC of this book that I received. C. G. Macington and his 5 star books always leave me speechless. This 5 star read was no exception. This emotional, sensitive, wonderful book is probably one of the best M/M books that I have read. This book touched me in so many ways. It was so beautifully written with care and love. The words that told the story were absolutely lovely and I am still wiping a tear or two and feel my heart beating a little faster. The main characters were awesome. The conversations written between them touching and lovely. The plot was great and it seemed so well researched or the author has medical knowledge. I was so captivated by this book that I read it in one very short sitting and was so sad that it had ended. I wanted more. I don't know if there is a series planned but I would love to meet up with Max and Jax again. Alastair was a fabulous character too. Everything about this booked seemed so realistic and believable. That is the sign of great writing for me. So much more that could be said about this book but I hate giving away spoilers. If you are a fan of C.G. then this is a must read for you and I hope it makes you feel the way that I do. Goosies running up and down even now. If you like M/M and have not read this author before, please give this one a read and then I am sure you will want to read others by this author. As with every book by C.G. I cannot wait for the next one. I look forward to more wonderful stories in the coming weeks and months.
A light hearted, opposites attract low angst romance. They reminded me of the Odd Couple, Max, a rich powerful , head of the Cardiac division surgeon, Jax, an ex army medic, now head of the ER as trauma surgeon. Their 2 worlds collide during renovations in the hospital & they now share an office. I liked how the author put them together & how although their faults differ they just fit. I received an advance review copy for free, and I am leaving this review voluntarily.
This was fun! Full of action and clever banter. Max is an uptight Ice King who is forced to share an office with Jax, the former soldier turned trauma cowboy. Yes, you’ve probably seen similar characters in other stories but these guys are so enjoyable you can overlook it. It’s a quick read with a satisfying, though slightly overlong ending.
By default became one of the best reads for 2026. Truly loved these doctors story. Max & Jax, Ice King & Soldier. Loved their story and I wish there was more
