Rate this book
Massimo Salvatore hates public functions. They’re a waste of time, and he has no interest in making friends within the Russo Mafia. He has his place, and no one is going to take it from him. The only reason he goes, is for one person. Adelina Ferri. She is funny, sweet, sexy, and she wears the worst clothes he has ever seen.

Adelina’s parents are embarrassed by her. They force her to wear clothes that are too large, and not at all flattering. However, soon it would all be over. She has learned that she is engaged to a man who has a history of hurting his wives. All of them are dead, and if she marries him, it will be a guaranteed death sentence.

When Massimo learns the truth, he cannot allow it to happen. Adelina is too kind, too good, to be allowed to be at the mercy of that … dick.

There is only one solution. He will marry her.

Her place is not as a Salvatore, and there are those in the Russo Mafia who will not let her forget it. However, when she is with Massimo, everything else fades. To everyone else, he is a monster, but to her, he is her savior.

He stopped her from dying. He has given her a future, but for how long. There is a traitor amongst the Russo mafia. One that is circling, intent on taking over. Massimo will not allow that to happen.

When his wife is taken, it is a race against the clock. But who is behind the threat, and will he make it in time?

Sam Crescent is passionate about fiction. She loves a good erotic romance and so it only made sense for her to spread her wings and start writing. She began writing in 2009 and finally got that first acceptance in 2011 by Total-E-Bound.
She loved creating new characters and delving into the worlds that she creates. When she’s not panicking about a story or arguing with a character, she can be found in her kitchen creating all kinds of havoc. Like her stories the creations in the kitchen can be just as dubious but sometimes things turn out great.

Not exactly my cup of tea... It seemed the same story I read before with other names, but the same kind of story. The same rinse and repeat, even the expressions are the same...

Adelina Ferri has just been told by her father that she is to marry Diego Bruno and she is scared that she won’t see her 22nd birthday. The man has already had numerous wives and mistresses, and they don’t last long. She hated going to the parties and the way her family treated her, had me livid. She had befriended Massimo Salvatore, the top ‘monster’ of the Russo Mafia. Even tho his father still lived, it is Massimo that handles the majority. His father was injured and he is vain about the aftermath. Plus, how he lost his wife didn’t help. Upon finding out about the arranged marriage of Adelina, he confronts his father, and tells him that he needs to set up an arranged marriage with her and him as the groom, instead. He is not about to lose the only person that isn’t afraid of him and likes him for being him. Plus, he cares about her and doesn’t want anything to happen to her. So, that happens, and Massimo sends his sister, Isabella with her to the store to buy her wedding dress. Isabella tells him that there is a problem. I truly dislike her family and what they do to Adelina just because she is plus size. I wanted to punch them all. I got teary eyed a lot after finding out what they put her through growing up. Even Massimo didn’t know how bad it was. He just thought they put her in really ugly clothes. So he goes and deals with them. This is where I fell in love with him. I honestly want her family to do something that upsets the Don of the family, so that they are punished. I teared up and cried a lot reading about her past. I really hate that women who are larger than a size four are considered ‘fat’ or think they are ‘fat.’ If they are happy with themselves and are healthy, then no one should say a darn thing to them! People need to stop judging people by how they look. I’ve spent my life being bullied because of my weight. It hurts.

Adelina realized after she marries Massimo that she is love with him. It is so cute how they are together, from the beginning. Because of her family, Adelina never had a chance to believe in herself, or have confidence. Massimo realizes this and helps her to achieve that. Isabella does too. Massimo’s father, Vincent, even realizes that Adelina is special. It is a revelation just how good a person that Adelina is. She is light, joy, happiness and peace all rolled up in one, and she heals that family by becoming part of it.

But, there are problems going on in the Family. Gangs, the bratva, and other problems arise, and Massimo needs to handle this, even though all he wants to do is to stay with his new wife in bed. lol. The way Adelina and Massimo are with each other is just so perfectly beautiful and steamy. It is romantic and fun and sweet. It is from here on, that the problems show up that they are more than he thought they were. Things get scary and when he and his father work together, hoo boy, watch out. There is a truly awesome reason why Massimo is known as the top ‘monster’ in the Family. I truly loved this book. It is now my fave book by this author. I can’t wait to see what happens next. I loved the ending. The fight scenes were awesome.

Saved by the Monster by Sam Crescent is one of those stories that sneaks up on your heart—dark on the outside, unexpectedly tender at its core, and impossible to put down once it sinks its claws in.

Massimo Salvatore is infamous for a reason. To the Russo Mafia, he’s a monster—cold, ruthless, and perfectly suited to the violence of his world. He hates public functions, hates small talk, and has no interest in impressing anyone. Except Adelina Ferri. She’s the woman he always looks for in a room, even when she’s hidden behind oversized clothes and quiet smiles meant to make her smaller.

Adelina has spent her life being treated like an inconvenience by her own family. Forced into unflattering clothes, ignored, dismissed, and ultimately sold off to a man known for cruelty and dead wives, she accepts her fate with heartbreaking resignation. Until Massimo learns the truth.

And everything changes.

What follows isn’t a rushed rescue fantasy, but a steady, deeply satisfying build of trust, protection, and devotion. Massimo doesn’t just save Adelina from a death sentence—he gives her something she’s never had before: safety, respect, and a future where she matters. To the world, he’s still the monster. To Adelina, he’s the man who sees her worth when no one else ever did.

Their relationship unfolds with warmth and intention. Massimo is fierce and unyielding with his enemies, yet impossibly gentle with his wife. He treats Adelina like something precious, defends her without question, and brings her into a family that finally offers kindness instead of cruelty. Watching her grow into herself—supported instead of diminished—is one of the most rewarding parts of the story.

The tension from the looming traitor within the Russo Mafia adds urgency and danger, but the emotional core never wavers. This is a romance about choosing goodness in a brutal world, about a man labeled a monster who refuses to let a woman’s light be extinguished.

If you love protective alpha heroes, arranged marriages that turn into genuine love, and stories where the most feared man in the room becomes the safest place for the heroine, Saved by the Monster is an absolute must-read. Dark, tender, and utterly addictive—this book delivers on every level.

Saved By the Monster is the kind of romance that hits all my favorite buttons: high emotion, real stakes, steady suspense, and plenty of heat—without ever losing its heart. It’s equal parts dramatic and addictive, with an edge that keeps the story feeling sharp and page-turny from start to finish.

At the center are Adelina and Massimo, a couple almost no one expects to work, and that’s exactly what makes their relationship so satisfying to watch unfold. Massimo saves Adelina from a death sentence she never should have faced in the first place, especially from a family that clearly failed to love her the way they should have. That betrayal adds an immediate emotional punch, and it also makes Adelina’s need for safety, loyalty, and real connection feel urgent and deserved.

What I appreciated is that their romance doesn’t come out of nowhere. Beneath the marriage arrangement is something sturdier: a history of friendship, an understanding built over time, and feelings that have been simmering under the surface long before vows are involved. That foundation makes their bond feel believable, even when the outside world insists it can’t last. There’s also something deeply satisfying about how their shared experiences, and shared dislikes, become a catalyst for protection, partnership, and finally choosing each other with intention.

One of the most enjoyable parts of the book is the way it plays with perception. Adelina and Massimo aren’t who people think they are, and watching Massimo’s family see Adelina clearly, recognizing her strength and worth when others refused to, adds warmth and depth to the story. Their dynamic creates space for Adelina to breathe, to be accepted, and to grow into the person she’s always been underneath the damage.

By the time the tension ramps up and the drama hits, I was fully invested. I found myself rooting hard for both of them through every complication, every threat, and every emotional curveball. The pacing moves smoothly, the plot stays engaging, and the spice is generous without overwhelming the story.

If you love romance with danger on the edges, where loyalty is proven, love is earned, and the heat comes with real emotional payoff Saved By the Monster is absolutely worth the read.

Saved By The Monster - Sam Crescent
Adelina Ferri is a beautiful soul but never shown any love or affection by her family. They consider her a burden and treat her as such and want to palm her off on the first person they can. Her engagement to Diego Bruno is announced and her family have little care that he is a ruthless member of the Russo Mafia and will likely kill her before their six month anniversary. Massimo Salvatore is a member of the Russo mafia also, an enforcer of sorts, they all call him a monster because if he comes for you, your time us up. Somehow he and Adelina have struck up a friendship over time that neither were expecting. They have an easy going flow of conversation, they have a brutal honesty that allows them to be their selves with one another which is refreshing for Massimo as Adelina does not fear him and speaks to him in a normal way and allows Adelina to have a sort of friendship with someone, to be able to speak without being punished or berated is something she gas never experienced. They allow each other to breath and that is something neither of them expected to find. At the thought of never having a conversation with Adelina again Msssimo takes matters into his own hands and makes it so he will be the one marrying Adelina instead. They have a deep connection with one another that they just do not want to lose. This is a beautiful story that pulls at the heart strings. Massimo is an amazing hero who sees Adelina for who she really is and the strength she holds to become so much more. Adelina sees Massimo as a person not a monster it is beautiful to see Adelina flourish under Massimo's guidance and the acceptance she finds with Isabella Massimo's sister and his father Vincent. However Adelina also helps Isabella, Vincent and Massimo become a family again as she helps them heal after the tragic death of Massimo's mother. This is a really enjoyable read that I hope you give a try. Happy Reading.
Please note that I was given an arc of this book for my honest review which is exactly what I have given.

You might want to make sure to double check that you are buckled up, dangerous men, alpha’s personified, possessive, oh, gorgeous, brooding all the makings of a story consisting with three D’s (dark, delicious, and dirty) 😊. There will be suspense, betrayal, death, darkness, secrets reveled, violence, hope, forgiveness, and maybe even love along the way. Massimo sexy as all get out part of the Russo mafia with a reputation proceeding him of being cold, heartless, he isn’t a man you want on your radar he is dangerous, ruthless on a good day, deadly every day, a monster to most, hate public functions, and his only highlight was the sweet curvy women who wore oversized clothes forced in a family that forced her to make herself smaller. Adelina was sweet curvy grew up in a family that showed her everyday that she wasn’t good enough she never really understood why, they made her feel like she was an inconvenience maybe it was her curves so she tried hiding behind bigger clothes to please them, changed who she was to please everyone around her yet she was miserable and was surprised when her family decided to marry her off to a man with a reputation for being cruel especially to women accepting her fate is all she knows to do since no one has ever stepped up or noticed her …..or so she thinks. Massimo hears about her impending match and isn’t going to allow it demands a change agreeing to marriage himself the connection is there but he shows her that she is stronger that she knows he gives her safety, respect, allows her to decide her own future everything she never had but most of all he shows her how beautiful she is inside and outside but will her family allow her happiness?

Adelina Ferri knew that her family cared nothing for her. That was why they were marrying her off to Dante. He is known to be cruel. It is said he killed his wives and mistress’. Adelina was resigned to her fate. Massimo Salvatore saw Adelina as charming. She was the one woman he looked for when attending the awful parties. When he learns of her fate, he demands that she be given to him. You first think that he was doing her a kindness but there was more to it. Massimo didn’t want her light extinguished. These two just came together with ease. He may have been labeled the monster by the Russo Family but that was his job. To Adelina, she saw the good in him. I love that things are at a steady pace. Massimo shows her passion and love. I was shocked that her family never once cared about her, no love or affection. Isabella and Vincent was so kind and welcoming. Of course, there is a rat somewhere that wants to take from the family but that wasn’t going to happen. I enjoyed this story.

Massimo Salvatore hates public functions, they are a waste of time and he is not looking to make friends, unfortunately it is required. The only thing he looks forward to is seeing one person, Adelina Ferri, she make being their bearable. Her parents are embarrassed by her and dress the ugliest clothes. When she tells him her engagement to a man has been set, one whose wife die of questionable circumstances, he knows he has to stop it.

Massimo comes up with the only possible solution, to marry her, that will protect her and no one would think to go after his wife. Adelina does not see him as a monster, even with the work he does, he saved her from death.

The more time they spend together the more affection deepens but there is a traitor and it looks to use his wife as a pawn, time for the monster to appear.

I am obsessed with Sam Crescent and her creativity!!! I loved this book and devoured it when it hit my kindle. I thought this books stories was original, page-turning and filled with drama, a little suspense and the right amount of angst and spice. I loved how Adelina and Massimo’s friendship grew and how they got each other perfectly. They and a slow-burn romance with an undeniable chemistry that has my heart beating fast.

Adelina had a quiet strength and knew what her life was going to be like having a mafia family. My heart broke for her, but I loved how she grew and strengthened her backbone in this book. Massimo was ruthless, determined and loyal. I loved how he fought for what he wanted and defended his family. I loved this book from beginning to end and can’t easy to see what comes next!!.

This was another wonderful mafia romance by this author. Massimo is very high up in the mafia world and considered a monster. Adelina is from a lower level family and is definitely an unwanted daughter. She's suffered abuse and mistreatment by her family for many years. However, she's the one thing he looks forward to when he's made to attend functions he really has no time for. When he finds out she's going to be married off to a despicable man, he steps in and marries her himself. Suddenly, Adelina feels safe, cared for and cherished. She's always enjoyed talking to Massimo, who was never a monster to her. These two have such hot chemistry and I really love how he made sure she was protected and loved fully by him. They may have seemed like opposites, but they fit together perfectly. Good fun!

Sam has done it again! I absolutely LOVED this Mafia story. She has a way of creating such wonderfully atypical Mafia stories. Massimo is part of the Russo Mafia. He is feared for a reason, he's a monster. Adelina's family is part of the Russo Mafia. She has been treated horribly by her family and now her father has arranged a marriage to a monster. He has been married before but is wives and other women are all dead. She realizes what her future will be and has reconciled that she won't live much longer. Massimo sees Adelina at family functions and always looks forward to talking to her. She breaks the monotony for him and he can't believe the horrendous dresses she wears. When Adelina tells him to her upcoming nuptials, Massimo knows he can't let it happen. His solution is to marry her. This begins the dark, dangerous, emotional ride that grabs you and doesn't let go. This is a fantastic read! I received an advance review copy, and I am leaving this review voluntarily.

This book was so good. I enjoyed every single moment of this story. The way the one guy known as a monster to everyone else was a softie and so gentle with the FMC in this book. There was something about this woman that called to him she was not afraid of him and he treated her like a queen. I loved everything about this book how they got together and the MC let her into family and he treated her like the most precious woman out there and made sure that her family was not able to treat he unkind anymore. He was protective of her making her feel safe for the first time ever in her life. The way this story developed made for a really good read. I enjoyed every single moment of this book. This is a must read!!!

Normally Sam Crescent hits it out the park with the strong female leads who have been bullied, strong male characters, emotional connections, and business. This is Massimo and Adelina's story. It varies between a 3.5 and a 4. The four is the business side. The 3.5 is the emotional side. While Massimo was a strong alpha male character. Adelina was caring and loving but there seemed to be one little piece missing in the emotional connection. This book has the same issue as the prior where it seems the reader is dropped into the middle of the story and missed the beginning. It was still and excellent book. There was no redemption in the one character though. I received a free copy of this book via Evernight and am voluntarily leaving a review.

I’m always watching for books from Sam Crescent! I love the characters: bad guys, sweet women, and a story about true love that draws me into a different world! Massimo is an enforcer who loves his family, but he’s ruthless when dealing with business. Adelina and he are friends who only see each other at functions: he’s non tolerant of silly women and finds her real with no pretense. I love the care that he shows her and her sweet nature soothes his soul, which makes them a special couple! The heated scenes are beautiful, their relationship grew exponentially as her confidence blossomed, and even when danger struck their enemies never had a chance! Loved it!.

Saved by the Monster is a mafia romance that gets the pulse racing in a dark, and spicy story.
MMC Massimo Salvatore adores MFC Adelina Ferri. When he has to attend mafia engagements she is the only reason he shows up.
So when her family forces Adelina into an engagement with a man who loves to hurt women he has to intervene.
Unbeknownst to Massimo, Adelina has long held feelings for him, and the news he has now claimed her for himself is a welcome one.
A good story of a cold hearted mafioso who keeps a spot open in his heart for the girl who doesn’t fear him, and who he really SEES.
Nice writing, family dynamics, intrigue, and engaging characters delivered this reader an entertaining read!.

Adelina’s Monster

Adelina’s family has treated her poorly her whole life and now they are marrying her off to a violent man. She really has no choice in the matter since her family has all the control.

Massimo is known as the Monster and he has earned the reputation. When he hears of Adelina’s betrothal, there is no way he will allow it to happen. She is meant to be his and he sets out to not only marry her himself but earn her love and trust.

However, there are forces that don’t approve of their union and make moves to end it before it truly begins.

Overall, good story with mystery, romance and suspense. Enjoyable and entertaining.

Adelina grew up in an abusive family. They made her wear the most hideous clothes to ensure that she was as unflattering as possible. Massimo Salvatore's only reason to show up at the Bratva parties was to see Adelina. Unlike the other women, she didn't throw herself at him or try to win his favor. She was simply herself and made him laugh. When he found out that she was going to be married off to a man who had already been through eight wives, he knew he couldn't allow that to happen. I love these two together; the storyline was okay, a little predictable, but I was okay with that because I really like the couple.

Adelina and Massimo have an unusual friendship. She is the only thing he enjoys about the social events he has to attend.

When hd finds out she is going to be married to a cruel man, he steps in.

Quite a bit of the story is intimate moments between them, however there there is plenty of Adelina becoming part of his family and helping to draw his father out of his seclusion. A traitor to the Russo mafia brings out the action. Adelina is a kind woman and Massimo might be the mafia’s monster but his is wonderful to Adelina.

Right at the beginning this book had me laughing. I loved the initial banter between Massimo and Adelina is blunt and amusing. Massimo is ultra protective of how people speak and treat Adelina and Adelina is use to her family treating her horribly. The story follows Massimos and Adelinas relationship and her developing relationship with Massimo's family. There is of course humor a little violence here and there, family drama and a small suspenseful scene toward the end that wasn't really all that suspenseful.  A quick read with a happy ending. Massimo is horrified when he learns Adelina is being forced to marry a cruel mobster, Diego, with a vile and ruthless reputation. She is the only woman eho has captured his full attention and attraction. She is hidden with her true character by the behaviours of her foul parents. A marriage conveniently arranged between them to circumvent the plans. Adelina is the woman who does not fear him, makes him laugh, makes him smile and his kindness is freely given and reciprocated.
The monster cowers to no-one but bows to her. A successful liaison.

The next option
Sam did her thing! Loved the characters as well as the story.
A low level mafia princess kind of. With no pretense or guile. He the number one mafia monster.
A fate changed to to adapt and flourish. Among the bad, change is profound.
Betrayal is nothing new in the Family, yet rumor has a big change in the air. The Monster walks out of the shadow hands out retribution for that Betrayal. A tinge of honor peeks out from an unlikely source. Hmmm.
Come full circle with the Monster and the smile. A great balance of drama, heat and intrigue.

Exciting, Sizzling Read

Massimo fell in love years ago, he just never realized it until the day Adelina told him she was to marry someone else!

Now that! The Monster could not and would not accept.

I loved this book, a love story, filled with tons of tenderness, witty moments, possessiveness, some action, danger and a few twists.

Massimo was a killer, dangerous but with her, this storyline took to you to another world filled with their feelings, chemistry and a love he would kill for.

Omg this was so not what I was expecting. Massimo, the set called monster, is anything but. He sees the unwanted daughter Adelina as something more than the nothingness her parents see her as. Trying to marry her off to a man that has not only hurt his wives but killed them. So he marries her himself. And the so called monster that he is, lets her become the person she should be without all the negativity of her family. He’s sweet and tender. Takes good care of her. Omgosh, this book was just so amazing and more. I loved everything about these two. There were meant for each other.

Adelina has resigned herself to the fact that she will die soon because the man she is contracted to marry has killed all his former wives and mistresses. Her salvation comes from an unexpected source, Massimo. I love the stubbornness and gruffness of Massimo and the sweet innocence of Adelina. Massimo never thought he would fall in love, but it doesn't take long for love to bloom with Adelina. This is a fantastic book, full of action and the perfect HEA.

Engaging, an often sweetly romantic story

Massimo and Adelina had formed a rather unusual friendship at functions they reluctantly attended. When he found out she was being married off to a violent creep Massimo stepped up and married Adelina himself.
Their marriage was a success though love was not declared they did enjoy themselves.
An unexpected turn of events puts Adelina in danger….Massimo comes to the rescue and we get a sweet epilogue.
No cheating, low level spice, romance, love and a HEA ending

Saved By The Monster is Adelina Ferri and Massimo Salvatore's story. I love this couple! By a lot of people's standards they may be completely opposites and ill matched but I think they're perfect matched. Adelina has lived a very difficult life and with Massimo a whole world has opened up.
This relatively short story is full of all things that are loved in a great Mafia read and is definitely a must read journey.

Our FMC was saved by the MMC, but she also saved him and his family in return. It’s such a heartwarming story, and I really enjoyed the moment when the MMC brought out the best in our FMC. She’s truly beautiful, both inside and out, and he saw that. The MMC is a complex character, being both good and bad, and I like to think that his actions were driven by necessity.
