3.5/5 - the actual points in this book were strong but the authors *really* should have hired a copyeditor! Every page had a grammar mistake or a spelling mistake ("it becomes easy to loose sight"? Really?!) that absolutely interrupted the flow of reading and was really distracting.
Helpful book for those in not-for-profit fund raising. I loved the principles, the vision, and practical tips. Authors draw from wealth of experience, and share the good and the bad. I benefited from the encouragement to see the donors as part of my mission.
A very good book, mostly about major gift fundraising, but also principles that apply to all areas of fundraising. I like that these two authors incorporate elements you don’t often see (the importance of passion, ROI, accountability, taking your “temperature” about the profession you have chosen). Next edition needs some proofreading — a few typos here and there — but I recommend it, definitely.
The content of this book is great, even though I work in a "small shop" nonprofit there is a lot here we can implement to improve our major giving- but you have to get past the glaringly obvious grammar, spelling, and punctuation mistakes on almost every page.
This is a handbook. Practical and insightful every fundraiser should have under hers pillow. It must be read and re-read for anybody just starting hers career in fundraising or already prospering at it.
