Anna Ricci’s got two problems—her landlord and her left hand. The first—her father—wants her to get a job. The second… well, it has a mind of its own.
Diagnosed with Alien Hand Syndrome, Anna’s unpredictable limb seems to take pleasure in sabotaging her life—one accidental slap, spill, and wardrobe malfunction at a time.
Desperate for a solution (and to avoid eviction), she reluctantly agrees to attend a group therapy session run by the eccentric Dr. Nutter. But when chaos erupts, it’s up to Anna to somehow unite a room full of unpredictable oddballs before the day is over. Between the cranky receptionist, the cat-obsessed woman, the tech addict, the conspiracy nut, the hunk who talks weird, and the old geezer who just isn’t himself, Anna has her work cut out for her.
If she can’t pull this group together, her life might fall apart—literally at the hands of her own hand. But maybe, just maybe, helping others heal is the first step toward fixing herself.
A laugh-out-loud romantic comedy about control, chaos, and finding your grip when life gets out of hand.
An interview, a pizza, a timber plank, a fountain, a piano and a dalmatian. 🎹 . Group Therapy Gone Wrong is a laugh-out-loud RomCom with short chapters, an UNHINGED amount of similies and an absolutely chaotic plot (in the best way)! I finished this book in one sitting and would definitely recommend it to anyone looking for a fast, funny read - but, please be aware that there are certain triggers to be mindful of. 💖 . Anna's hand is out to sabotage her, it's ruining her life, and her last hope is Dr Nutter. She is desperate to be cured of her Alien Hand Syndrome but doesn't expect to find love in the process. Bobby speaks weird, but it's music to her ears (iykyk). Along the way Anna makes new friends, each as unique as she is. Their interactions will have you rolling your eyes and laughing to yourself until you look as mad as the characters! 🤪 . Despite the lighthearted nature of this book, Anna and Bobby both have tragic backgrounds that have lead to their conditions. This story approaches trauma in a unique way and the happy ending is very welcome. I was caught off guard by the way the story went from such chaotic laughs to a very serious topic but I was invested and am glad I continued reading! 💖
In their romantic comedy, Group Therapy Gone Wrong, P.M. Mahoney delivers a delightfully chaotic and laugh-out-loud narrative that redefines the "meet-cute" through the lens of pure absurdity. The story follows Anna, a woman whose life is being systematically sabotaged by her own hand—literally—as she battles the rare and disruptive Alien Hand Syndrome. Seeking a cure from the aptly named Dr. Nutter, Anna finds herself thrust into a support group of eccentric personalities. It is here she meets Bobby, whose peculiar way of speaking is "music to her ears," sparking an unexpected romance that anchors the surrounding mayhem.
The book’s greatest strength lies in its relentless energy and an almost unhinged commitment to humor. Mahoney utilizes short, punchy chapters and an overwhelming abundance of creative similes to maintain a breakneck pace, making it an ideal candidate for a one-sitting read. The interactions between the unique ensemble cast are brilliantly irreverent, often prompting the kind of reflexive laughter that makes the reader look just as mad as the characters on the page. However, beneath the layer of comedic anarchy, the story takes a surprising turn. Both Anna and Bobby carry tragic histories that have contributed to their conditions, and Mahoney approaches their underlying trauma with a unique, albeit jarring, perspective.
Earning a 3.5 out of 5 stars, the novel is a refreshingly original take on the genre, though the tonal shift from chaotic slapstick to serious subject matter may catch some readers off guard. While the transition between high-energy laughs and heavy emotional themes is stark, the investment in the characters’ well-being makes the eventual happy ending feel incredibly earned. It is a fast, funny, and deeply strange journey that succeeds because it refuses to play by the traditional rules of contemporary romance.

I think I can easily say at this point that PM Mahoney is one of my fave authors when it comes laugh out loud, fun, and the utterly absurd. I have the absolute best time sitting down with one of his books and just kicking back to enjoy a good laugh. And this story definitely delivers on that front. Alien Hand Syndrome? lol really? This was so much fun. I loved the characters. Each one had the best personality. And mixing them all together was pure chaos in the most goofy kind of way. And a bit of romance tossed in too? Watch out for that hand my guy! It might do something unexpectedly. Tickle time lol. You never know. But I really enjoyed this book.
Book 3 of the Longing For Love series. Can be read as a standalone.
'uniting this group to work together might be more challenging than reforming ABBA for a worldwide tour.'
The characters drove the storyline and they were so very appealing and likeable and quirky and funny. Plot was well written and developed. World building continues to excel and impress. All in all a great addition to the series. Enjoyed immensely and highly recommend.

They're crazy in the best of ways, And we don't get nearly enough time with them!
It does feel a bit rushed, And I really wish we got more time with all the characters, Even Anna.
Each character has their own quirks that make them unique, But the way they interact once paired off seems, fittingly, Insane. I hope in the future we get to see how each character (and couple) gets their ending!

This book was quirky but real. It demonstrates the that we all have issues to overcome. The plot flowed smoothly and the characters were well developed. It pulled you in and you just had to know what’s happens next.
