Taking Risks #2
Let's Be Forever
When Anna Lopez first met Sylas Lenoir Alves, she wanted nothing to do with him, making it her mission to steer clear of him. Unfortunately for her, Sylas had other plans, proposing a fake dating arrangement that was too good to turn down. What started off as a mutually beneficial arrangement quickly became more after a few fake dates, stolen moments, and lingering touches. Somewhere along the way, they stopped pretending, and what was meant to be temporary turned into something real.
Until it wasn’t. What Anna thought was going to last forever turned out to be painfully temporary. Heartbroken and alone, she’s left reeling from everything that happened and the shocking realization that she’s pregnant.
But a few years later, she managed to build a new life for herself as a single mom in a new city. Determined to make it work on her own, everything changes when Sylas comes back into her life, intent on winning her back. What he doesn’t know is that Anna was pregnant when she left…and the child is his.
Now, he has more than just her heart to fight for.

one of the hottest books i’ve read this year!! e. salvador, you never fail to amaze me, my queen 💌
୨ৎ anna. such a strong woman fr. i would genuinely just would never be able to survive if i go through what she went through. i’m the proudest, and she actually tried to stood her ground but i get her for folding as well LOL
୨ৎ sylas. literally glad of how his life turned out because his parents are just a bunch of evil human beings. it’s really a choice on how we choose to live, and he’s the living proof that you can be different from your parents. he made his choice to be better, not only for himself, but also for his own family.
GOSH, don’t get me started on the spicy scenes of this book because it was genuinely GOOD! i ate it up 🫣 sue me for liking it idc!
i really enjoyed this one and i love how it ended as well 🥹💗 couldn’t think of a better ending for anna and sylas because they just deserve everything after all the struggles they’ve been through when they we’re apart.

I was so excited to jump back into Silas and Anna’s story after the way the last book ended. My heart was absolutely shattered, and I needed to know how everything would work out. From the very beginning, you could tell these were two people who were meant to be together, even with so many outside forces working against them.
Anna is an absolute badass. She’s a single mom, runs her own business, and somehow keeps putting one foot in front of the other while carrying around so much heartbreak. There were definitely moments where I wanted to shake her because she refused to accept help when she so clearly needed it, but when it came to Rosie, she would do absolutely anything. She was an incredible mom, and Rosie completely stole my heart.
Silas was a man completely down bad, and I loved every second of it. He knew he had lost the love of his life and was willing to do whatever it took to earn her back. Honestly, I couldn’t blame him because their little family was everything, and seeing him fight for them made me root for him even more.
And can we talk about the parents? Both of their families could kick rocks. Thankfully, they had an amazing found family surrounding them. Their friends and siblings showed up when it mattered most, proving that family isn’t always about blood. The found family aspect added so much heart to this story and made every emotional moment hit even harder.
If you love emotional second-chance romance, a hero willing to do anything to win back the woman he loves, an incredible single mom, and a found family that will have you smiling through your tears, this is one you won’t want to miss.

That was… yeah, a bit 🤨. I didn’t hate it, but I had such a good time with book one, and after that cliffhanger I had high hopes. I was ready for the full story and the aftermath, and instead it all felt a bit meh and dragged out. Probably could’ve just been one book. I can’t say this story is going to stick with me, but I’m glad Sylas and Anna got their HEA and he finally packed in the smoking 😄 I’m still very much looking forward to the next books in E. Salvador’s other series though, so I’ll keep an eye out for those. That’s it.

Thank you to E. Salvador and her Street Team for sending me the e-arc!
Returning to the Taking Risks universe was an absolute honor, Anna and Sylas are one of my favorite couples ever. Their chemistry is flaming and their growth as characters is heartwarming.
Let's Be Forever takes place around 2 years after Let's Pretend. While Let's Pretend is a more quick and spicy read, Let's Be Forever is a angsty and heart string pulling novel that shows the beauty of second chances with the ONE.
Fans of a Surprise Pregnacy, will absoutely find Let's Be Forever enjoyable. You get to experience all the emotions of Anna and Sylas, which is essential to understanding their relationship in this new and daunting chapter of theirs.
One of my favorite things about this book is that you get to experience the familar dynamic of Anna and Sylas from Let's Pretend but you also get to experience the differences in their personalities and realtionship.
E. knows how to write such compelling characters with emotionally charaged stories, Anna and Sylas deserve their happiest of endings and seeing them form the tiny cutest family was so beautiful. You also get to experience them build a found family within their own friends and other important figures in their lives.
The way I could never be in a room alone with Anna and Sylas parents because I would literally crash out on all of them without any regrets.
Defeintely love the emphasis of healing in this novel because that's genuiely what Anna and Sylas needed for their relationship and I will always root for a story that talks about the importance of therapy when struggling with mental health.

I didn’t hate it but I also really wanted to love this one more than I did. While there were definitely sweet, emotional, and spicy moments that I enjoyed, I found myself wishing the story had been condensed into a single book with a third act breakup instead of being split into two. After such a huge cliffhanger in book one, this felt a little anticlimactic for me (the reason behind the breakup).
Around the 70% mark, I started to lose interest, and the pacing began to drag for me. I also never fully connected with the secret baby trope just because it isn’t one I typically gravitate toward (childfree over here!)That said, I was already invested after book one and definitely wanted to see where Sylas and Anna’s story would go.
Even though this one wasn’t the best fit for me, I know readers who love second chance romances, secret baby trope, and want to see Sylas and Anna’s HEA may have a completely different experience!
Either way, I’m grateful for the ARC and excited to see what E writes next!

5 ⭐️: Obsessed doesn’t even cover it!
Below a three tropes to keep in mind:
♥︎ ⤷ Second-chance lovers
♥︎ ⤷ British MMC x Latina FMC
♥︎ ⤷ Dom x Sub relationship
———
♥︎ ⤷ I absolutely loved this completed duet! The author does a wonderful application of real-world issues and solutions into an amazing rom-com. Without giving too much away, the first book within this duet ends in a cliffhanger!! Therefore, I LOVED that the second book doesn’t shy on the details of what occurred and the yearning the MMC must do to win back his love.
♥︎ ⤷ If you’re a fan of yearning, comedic elements and spicy scenes then I highly recommend for you to add this completed duet to your TBR!

Like its predecessor, please check the trigger warnings as some of the spicy scenes get intense.
Let’s Be Forever is the sequel to Let’s Pretend, a holiday novella following Anna and Sylas as they find themselves falling for each other while fake dating. Let’s Be Forever picks up a few years after the explosive cliffhanger at the end of Let’s Pretend. Love or hate the cliffhanger, it was shocking. I’m usually not a fan of the surprise pregnancy trope, but Salvador’s writing is addictive and intense.
Let’s Be Forever is positioned as a sequel while also being a standalone. I’m not sure why Salvador decided to write Let’s Be Forever as both. I don’t think it failed, but I don’t think it succeeded either.
Anna and Sylas continue to be fire hot together. Their connection is undeniable. Let’s Be Forever is overflowing with emotion as Anna and Sylas learn how to be around each other and their daughter.
Spice level: 🌶️🌶️🌶️🌶️
Overall, Let’s Be Forever is packed with emotion, angst, and undeniable chemistry that kept me invested from beginning to end. If you enjoyed Anna and Sylas in Let’s Pretend, their next chapter is well worth the ride.
*** I received an ARC from the author in exchange for an honest review.

Thank you to the author for the gifted ARC!
When I got the email for this ARC, I actually hadn’t gotten around to reading Let’s Pretend yet. So I did what any sane person would do… I flew through Let’s Pretend in the morning and started Let’s Be Forever that same afternoon. 🤣 It was the best decision because Let’s Pretend ends with a time jump/cliffhanger, and getting to jump straight into this one was absolutely perfect.
If you haven’t read either book yet… what are you waiting for? Go fix that immediately! If you have read Let’s Pretend, just know this one picks up right where that book left off. The story also weaves in flashbacks, slowly revealing everything that happened during their time apart, and I loved seeing those missing pieces come together.
Both books are definitely spicy, but I do think Let’s Be Forever was just a little more tame than Let’s Pretend, which didn’t bother me at all because this book was so focused on the emotion, the healing, and Anna and Sylas finding their way back to each other.
Sylas absolutely yearned for Anna, but he didn’t stop there… this man begged, fought, and did everything he possibly could to earn her trust back. I love a man who has to work for his second chance, and watching him prove himself made every emotional moment feel so worth it. Anna also stood her ground, and I really appreciated that their relationship wasn’t magically fixed overnight. They both had to work for their happily ever after, which made it feel so much more satisfying.
This was such a satisfying and beautiful conclusion to their story. Seeing Anna and Sylas finally find their way back to each other made my heart so happy, and by the time I turned the last page, it was completely full.

i absolutely LOVED reading this book! i love me a good second chance romance with angst involved and this was exactly that!
first, let me start off with the characters. anna is a such a strong fmc, especially with everything she has gone through, being able to not only take care of a child on her own, but also start her own business too, despite everything was so incredible to see. i understand her character so much especially with not being able to accept help even when she really does need it! i also loved seeing how she was able to stand her ground but also ensure that rosie is always getting the best is everything!
sylas, has also gone through a lot, especially with the long trauma he has had with his parents in particular, and i really think it was beautiful to see how he was trying to heal not only for anna and rosie, but also for himself! i also loved seeing how down bad sylas is for anna and that he was willing to do ANYTHING for her!
these two together were everything to me! the way these two were able to heal from the mistakes of the past and focus on their future with rosie was so incredibly beautiful to read about! throughout this book you could see how much they have for each other and also in let’s pretend you see it too, and i am so so glad that they got their happy ending!
thank you to e. salvador and her team for the eARC!

🥐 hockey player x baker | second chance | secret baby | slow burn | HE GROVELS
I was on the fence after Let’s Pretend (3⭐ for me, I really wasn’t sure how I felt) but THIS ONE completely won me over 😭 I could not put it down, I would’ve devoured it in one sitting if I could’ve.
Anna’s character growth in this book?? Immaculate. She is SO strong, SO herself, and I was living for every second of her arc 🙌
The second chance romance + secret baby combo had me feeling everything, and don’t even get me started on the grovel — chef’s kiss 👨🍳💋 truly earned, truly satisfying.
Also shoutout for toning down the spice compared to book 1 — way less cringe this time, and it let the emotional beats hit even harder 🥹
If you were unsure about book 1 like me, give this one a chance — Anna & her hockey boy completely turned it around for me 🏒🧁

I have mixed feelings about this one I enjoyed it and found it to be a fast read. However I can't shake the feeling that something was missing!
I really appreciated how he finally began to stand up for himself and put an end to his parents behavior.
I also wish there had been more scenes with the daughter as I often felt she was just sleeping or spending time with the sister.

ATE AND DEVOURED THIS ONE!! I genuinely couldn’t put it down solely because I wanted Anna and sylas back together so badly!! When I tell you that man yearns I mean he’s on his knees begging for a second chance and I loved that Anna didn’t fold immediately, she made him work for it, but she was also super understanding towards their misunderstandings and his struggles.
The found family in this one was so cute because Anna, Sylas, and Rosie deserved a new family since they’d been constantly rejected by those who were supposed to love them🥲I’m going to be so honest when I say this one made me feel every emotion in the world. One second I’m screaming in anger at Sylas’s family, then I’m crying, then I’m swooning, then I’m turning my kindle brightness down because some scenes were so steamy I was afraid the ghost in my room was judging me😭
I highlighted most of this book because the love confessions were so beautiful and I could feel through the pages how much Sylas and Anna loved each other and just wanted a happy ending. Also can we talk about the mental health rep? An issue I had with book 1 was that they didn’t go into Sylas’s struggles enough, but I’m so glad we discussed it more in this one because it added such an important layer to the story!
Rosie🥹my baby!! She was the cutest and when she said “Daddy’s going to win” I almost died it was so adorable. I could’ve take 100 more pages of them because this one was just that good!! I absolutely recommend, especially if you love yearning, second chance, amazing spice, and a secret baby!!

(arc) so thankful to have received an arc copy!
i freaking loved this. ever since the ending of book one, sylas and anna have genuinely been on my mind because of how criminal that cliffhanger was. i needed answers so bad… and let me tell you, the answers pissed me off so much i wanted to k word some people.
i’m so happy i got to read about them again, now with their little plus one, and see how sweet and beautiful everything became once things finally got back on track. the beginning was so very angsty and i absolutely ate that up. second chance excellence!
such a lovely story. i’m gonna miss them so much.

Oh I’m raging this was awful. I was already disappointed by the first installment in this duet, but this one took my disappointment to new heights. Sylas doesn’t do anything to atone for his actions besides repeatedly bashing Anna over the head with empty promises about wanting and needing her. There are no actions that he puts into play to show that things are different. Rosie is also a completely underutilized character. All she does is sleeps and eats. We didn’t get to see her and Sylas develop the bond they end up having. One day he’s a stranger and the next they’re best friends and have hearts in their eyes. The character I’m most disappointed in though is Anna. Sylas hurt her for no good reason and immediately upon his return into her life she is quick to allow him around their child and to worm his way back into her heart. She’s doing her past self a disservice by not making him grovel or earn her respect and trust. All of this mixed with the degradatio kink made this a pretty painful read. I’m again shocked at how simplistic the writing was and the choppy plot. E Salvador can write a book, she’s done in three times before this duet. But holy shit, whatever inspired her to write this I hope never reaches her again

*EARC Review* Thank you E Salvador and her team!
WOW!! I seriously couldn’t put this down, it was SO addictive! I’m a second chance lover and this was everything! I felt all the emotions and loved every single character 🥹 Anna is MOTHER, and the perfect role model all around, SYLAS the yearner that you are, and ROSIE omg the cutest ever!! First of all, I want to thank the author for giving me the opportunity to read this ARC. The excitement I felt when I received the email was incredible because, after the ending of Let’s Pretend and that cliffhanger that had me wanting to throw my Kindle across the room, I desperately needed this story. And honestly, I feel like this was exactly what was needed to give Anna and Sylas’ story the perfect ending.
This second part takes place years later, where Anna is now a single mother and we’re able to see everything she’s had to do to build a life for herself and Rosie. At the beginning, we don’t know exactly what caused their relationship to end, but as the story unfolds, we slowly discover everything they went through. I suffered so much alongside both of them, although I definitely hurt a little more for Anna. The love I have for that woman is enormous, and watching her go through so much completely broke my heart.
On Sylas’ side, we see that he still has the same luxurious lifestyle, but we also discover that he’s consumed by resentment and anger. They’re both grieving the relationship they lost, each in their own way, and I really loved how the author portrayed that pain. I also loved seeing that, despite everything, they were still filled with yearning and longing for one another. Sylas… the man that you are, because he was still completely in love with her two years later, even though he was the one who ended the relationship.
Another thing I absolutely loved was Anna’s character development. I loved seeing a woman who refused to let life take away her dreams or her passions, and who fought through everything necessary to build a better life for herself and her daughter.
And I have to talk about Sylas’ parents because… I hated them with my whole heart. Every single time they showed up, I wanted to jump into the book just to get them out of it. That’s why I loved seeing Sylas finally stand up to them and fight for both his family and the love of his life.
I also adored every scene with Anna, Sylas, and Rosie together. They were so incredibly sweet and really made them feel like a family. Although, if I’m being honest, I would’ve loved to get just a few more of those moments.
Anna and Sylas’ romance takes time to rebuild, but it makes complete sense considering everything they went through. I really appreciated that the author showed how difficult it was for them to trust again, open their hearts, and allow themselves to love each other once more. It made their reconciliation feel so much more real and emotional.
Overall, this was such a beautiful ending to their story. It made me cry, smile, get frustrated, and fall even more in love with these characters. I truly can’t imagine a better ending for Anna and Sylas.

ARC review
I LOVE EVERYTHING E. WRITES. holy cow, she could write a freaking ten-page grocery list and I would eat it up. my freaking shaylas!!! Anna, Sylas, and now Rosie in the mix. I'm sat for these cuties 🩵
Marcello will forever be funny and everyone needs a friend like Clementine, that's me. I'm that friend 🤭. also if it wasn't clear when I read 'Let's Pretend,' I'll make it crystal right now. Sylas' parents can BURN IN HELL. thangya, such pieces of sh**
I loved everything about how their story concluded, their relationships with their sisters and one another. be still my heart
I'm so glad that Sy never gave up on trying to prove himself to Anna, and how she was willing to open her heart up to him one more time. they truly were meant to be together forever 😭
it's so cute how he and Rosie instantly bonded together. I'll forever love men who are born to be girl dads and how they fall putty into their daughter's hands
I hate how Sylas' parents ruined so many years of his life to try and paint the picture of a perfect family when they've always been far from it. Sy and Thea never deserved that, nor did Anna and Rosie. I love how they all put them in their place and protected Rosie
can we just get a moment of silence followed by a round of applause for Maya, Thea, Marcello, Clementine, and Matias?! arguably some of the best side characters E. has written and we know I'm a STAN for all her side characters because they're all funny and quick witted. it was something about these 5 that just really are making them my top faves right now 🥹. don't worry, Saint is still at the top of my list though
I'm going to miss Anna, Sy, and Rosie 🥹🩷 it's like saying goodbye to your childhood home. you'll always have the memories. you just won't see it as often. I'm glad Anna got the happy ending she deserved. she deserves the world and more
also, before I forget. Sylas will always be pathetic in the hottest way possible when it comes to Anna and I'm obsessed 🙂↕️
this conclusion to their story was so worth the wait
⭐️ 6 freaking stars, are you mad?
🪩 secret baby
⛸️ second chance romance
🪩 found family
⛸️ slow burn
🪩 groveling x yearning

Thank you endlessly to E for this ARC!! I love a second chance romance and I LOOOOVVVEEEE the secret baby trope so I knew I was gonna love this one, and I truly did!
Let's Be Forever is book two in the Taking Risks series, the follow-up to Let's Pretend; we left Silas and Anna at the end of book one in a very uncertain state, and boy oh boy what a cliffhanger it was! Let's Be Forever picks up about four years later, with Anna and Silas not having been in contact during this time, and Anna raising their daughter Rosie on her own. But when Silas is traded to a new hockey team and ends up in Boston, where Anna is now living, it's only a matter of time before the two collide again...
I absolutely adored this book! This story was chocker-block full of angst, yearning, and piping hot chemistry; I forgot just how spicy Anna and Silas were 👀
E definitely delivered with the secret baby trope, and both the sweet dad and the yearning loverboy goodness from Silas! You really feel how much both Silas and Anna miss one another, and how much they're still mourning the breakdown of their relationship. When they come back into each other's lives, Silas really works so hard to earn back Anna's trust which I really appreciated; I really loved seeing both of their growth but I was really glad that we got to see Silas working through his family dynamics more than anything. Anna is so strong and has been through so much, and I loved that we got to see her achieve the dreams she's worked so hard for!
And little Rosie! The cutest kid ever! Selfishly I wanted more Silas and Rosie content as they were becoming a part of each other's lives, but I did appreciate the relationship that Silas builds with his daughter as well as rebuilds with Anna.
I really loved the flashbacks, and getting to see some of the moments between Let's Pretend and Let's Be Forever, when Silas and Anna were at their best (and occasionally their worst). It was nice to fill in some of the blanks through the flashbacks.
Sylas and Anna's love story is a slow journey but hard fought for, and so satisfying to see them get their forever, together <3 I'm sad to be saying goodbye to this little world but what a perfect way to close the chapter on Anna and Silas.

If you are looking for a swoon-worthy MMC with a second-chance romance that will have you obsessed not just with the story but also with the characters, then this is the book for you. Let's Be Forever is book 2 in the Taking Risks duet by E. Salvador. Firstly, I would like to thank the Author for giving me this ARC. Importantly, this may contain triggering content for some; please check trigger warnings before reading.
This book was such an amazing read; the story had me not wanting to put the book down. The story is a mix of character and plot development, and the tropes blended really well with the story. I loved how the chapter written in the past blended with chapters in the present; it flowed with the story and did not feel like it was jumping back and forth at all. This displayed the character growth between the characters as you see how they change from the past and present. Overall, this was such a good read that I could not put down.
Anna and Sylas' relationship showed the ups and downs while also showing how the cycle of abuse can trap you and bring you back in when you are at your lowest. I loved how they both worked on the relationship and tried to make it better, not just for themselves but for their child. Sylas was always there when she needed it and was willing to wait and prove to Anna how much he loved her, even if it meant moving into the spare bedroom. I do have to say I loved so much how Anna stood her ground and fought for everything, while also owning a bakery and looking after her child. I absolutely loved this book and hope you read it. Happy reading.

I absolutely loved getting the backstory behind why book one ended the way it did. It added so much depth and made me appreciate these characters even more. And Sylas? His groveling was absolutely top-tier. When this man knows what he wants, he goes all in, and I was rooting for him every step of the way. I also loved seeing a more vulnerable side of him. He wasn't afraid to express his emotions, and it made his redemption arc feel so earned and incredibly satisfying.
Can we also talk about the spice? HOLY. WOW. Let's just say this is not the kind of book you want someone reading over your shoulder! 🔥
One of my favorite parts, though, was seeing Sylas with his little girl. A man who loves his daughter with his whole heart will always make me swoon, and those moments were some of the sweetest in the book.
It was so special to return to this world and spend more time with these characters and the amazing supporting cast. E. Salvador has a true gift for writing emotional, unforgettable romances, and if book one left your heart in pieces, trust me, this is the healing and redemption you were waiting for. An easy five-star read for me!

The yearning and longing in this book was KILLING MEEEE 😩
She knew damn well she wanted to fold as soon as he first walked into Everything Everything! I commend her for trying to stay away though. Especially after HE broke up with HER & she BEGGED him to stay. God that would’ve made me want to drag their tension along for as long as possible too. Let him beg this time. Which he did. Lmao. Sylas is so done for her. He literally can’t live without her & I love how much he’s willing to show it even when she tells him no.
Sylas is such a dream 🤤 The vulnerability, yearning, & longing he was doing made me want to reach into my book & shake him. He’s too good with words.
I was really hoping Anna & Sylas released that video of his parents trying to pay her off. His statement wasn’t shit & barely made his parents look bad. He should’ve done something way worse.

I’ve never pressed the pre-order a book button as fast as with this one!
Sylas and Anna, I missed you! I LOVE YOU BABIES… if I have something to say to everyone, it’s that I love this couple and what they built for themselves.
This duet of books gave me so much love, yearning, crying, but above all, hope and happiness to see that their love won against what life threw at them (life = both their parents). Seeing them with Rosie literally made me cry, in the last chapters I felt that my heart was watering with tenderness!
The mention of TJ & LOLA, OMG I WAS NOT REMOVING THE SMILE FROM MY MOUTH. Long live the babies of the characters of E. <3
