A dead judge. A mysterious summons to a funeral. For reporter Trevor Gwyn Jones, it was supposed to be just another story. But the discovery of a ritualistic murder and a cryptic drawing of a severed head on a stake tells him otherwise. Trevor’s investigation pulls him into the orbit of “The Thirteen” , a shadowy cabal of powerful men whose secrets are buried in a century of violence. From the corrupt halls of justice to the darkest corners of British history, Trevor follows a trail of bodies that leads to an unthinkable truth. Now, the hunters have become the hunted. With his own friends in the crosshairs, he must expose the conspiracy before he becomes the next to be betrayed – and the next to be silenced.
I really enjoyed the continuity of using the same characters from The Death on a Grave Stone book, which gives realism to the intriguing story. I found the ending interesting, particularly the wisdom of one of the characters. I would definitely recommend this book.
