How to Train Your Groomzilla: Chris & Trixie

Rate this book
And They Lived Cockily Ever After
Chris Kingman knows how to lead a team, win championships, and stay cool under pressure.

Wedding planning?
That’s a whole different sport.

When the venue is a farm animal sanctuary and his bride volunteers there, Chris just wants one thing—a perfect day for the woman he loves. Unfortunately, that means he’s officially crossed into full groomzilla territory.

Trixie adores her meticulous, big-hearted fiancé… even when he’s stressing over timelines, seating charts, and whether a rooster named Luke Skycocker can be trusted near an altar.

With farm animals running wild, family chiming in, and emotions running high, their journey to the altar is messy, hilarious, and full of heart.

Because love isn’t about perfection.
It’s about choosing each other—even when the rooster refuses to cooperate.

How to Train Your Groomzilla is a steamy, body-positive sports romance wedding novella filled with chaos, comedy, and a guaranteed happily ever after.

okay this was a cute novella of Chris and Trixie getting married.
it felt more emotional and cute. we get moments with the siblings the little angst of the memories of the mom and wanting her to be there.

the siblings being so cute together. and a hint? that maybe Julie's has a boyfriend?!?!? whatttttt

beside that the vows really got to me. we also see Luke aka the rooster pov.
little spice high on emotions.

no ow/om drama, no cheating, slight secondary character

Trixie and Chris' wedding is here! This novella is funny and spicy and heartfelt in the best way. From Chris stressing about the flowers to a New Orleans bachelor trip with a special surprise to a very sweet choosing of the best man (or woman!) I really enjoyed this story. I laughed and swooned and may have even gotten a little emotional too.

Have no fear, our favorite rooster Luke Skycocker is here and he has his own POV!!!! Red Rooster 5 definitely has some options about Chris and Trixie getting married 🤣

As always, the chapter titles were so good!

I’m a sucker for a HEA novella. When Amy said we’re going to get all the Kingman weddings this year I kicked my feet like a little schoolgirl. Of course we need to start with Chris and Trixie. As silly as this book is there are so many sweet tear jerker moments. From the draft for your best man/ person to the flashback where we get to see early moments of the couple. Of course we have lots of chaos caused by Luke Skycocker. I love how we get to see everyone in the family have their moment. The speeches were perfect! Novellas like this make my heart so happy because it’s all the cute without the drama.

4.5 ⭐️What a cute novella! I love everything about the Kingman family and how each sibling brings so much to the story. I especially loved how Luke had his own chapters and I laughed out loud with his rude comments. The short story was full of lots of love and emotion and the spicy scenes were an added bonus!

Hated the random chicken POV chapters… completely unnecessary. Ended up skipping them 🤦‍♀️

But yes… we all know I love trashy romance books and the fact this series now has a random wedding spin off of novellas… I’m here for it.
Definitely gave some spoilers though. Should have read some more of the original series before reading this one… oops

Sandra: Queen Empress of the Bookdom
Review of Perfection

Hello Everyone! This is Sandra, Queen Empress of my amazing Bookdom! I mean why just be a Queen or just an Empress when you can be both!! Anyway, we are here today to review this amazing book – How To Train Your Groomzilla by Amy Award. All I can say is SHE DID IT AGAIN!!

This book gets 5 stars, or in this case 5 Stormtrooper Roosters!

This is a Novella, meaning it is shorter than a full length book and can be easily finished in one sitting. The main characters are Christopher Bridger Kingman, or Chris, and Beatrix Andromeda Moore, or Trixie. These characters are from the very first book I read in this series which was The C&ck Down The Block and I am so very happy that I loved this novella as much as I had loved the book!

As you read you will see snippets of flashbacks from Chris and Trixie, you will enjoy some of the pre-wedding activities Kingman style, the shenanigans of a chaotic wedding (as most weddings are), and I feel most importantly the contributions of Luke Skyc0cker himself!

As I read I was either outrageously laughing out loud, the laughs where your belly shakes and the other people in your house are calling out “What are you doing?”, or I was tearing up at the emotional parts that made me remember my own wedding and the chaos it entailed. This book truly caught the fact that anything can, and will, happen at weddings yet you get through them and cherish the stories forever. It shared family values and love. It shared snippets of the wedding, enough to fill a Novella and make us feel as if we were there.

The one small part I did not like was that based on the title I felt that more should have been in there on him being a Groomzilla. It was alluded to yet played a very minor part. Yet, as Luke Skyc0cker calls him, “that Trixie Stealing Skin Goblin”, created a wonderful wedding for Trixie.

WARNING! WARNING!
INCOMING MESSAGE TO LUKE SKYC0CKER

I am here to STAY! Go play 007 with Kylo Hen and leave me be!

I loved every second !

I read this book as an advanced reader copy and am leaving a completely honest review

This is a follow on of the original story for Chris Kingman and Trixie, his next door neighbour and best friend since childhood. Their story is from The C*ck Down The Block.

Now the happily ever after is just starting for this pair, Chris has managed to learn how to lead a team, stay calm in pressured situations and how to win championships. Wedding planning however is a totally different ball game. He’s planning the ultimate wedding for his animal loving bride, it’ll be at her favourite animal sanctuary. The only problem is.. Chris is kind of a Groomzilla and may have slightly lost it. (Just a little) He will however do whatever it takes to give his bride the perfect day.
Trixie just adores Chris and will happily take whatever happens. Which is honestly just as well because there’s absolutely no way this Kingman wedding was going to go perfectly. It’s just not written in the stars for this crew.

I loved this short story, it was filled with humour, joy, love and even a few sad tears jerk moments. It includes some of the funniest perspectives from the pet squad, they’ve quickly become highlight chapters for me in these books.

Trixie and Chris have been one of my favourite couples since the beginning so getting an extra glimpse into their happily ever after and wedding has been wonderful. Hearing all about the antics of Chris and especially the no good things Luke Skycocker has got up to throughout the planning process was hilarious and so very them!

I’m going to be sad when we’ve officially reached the end of this series by the end of the year but knowing there will be more wedding stories has me excited. If you’ve loved the Cocky Kingman series then you’re going to love this short story of the first Kingman wedding.

“You taught me that home isn’t a place—it’s a person. And you’ve been my home since I was ten years old.”

✔️HEA novella
✔️wedding planning
✔️healthy relationships & all the green flags
✔️curvy rep & body positivity
✔️big family & pet shenanigans
✔️no breakup

4.75⭐️ rounded up

I just want to start my review by saying that this novella is not a standalone, it is a happily ever after/extended epilogue novella for the couple in “The C*ck Down the Block”. This book won’t make sense really unless you read that one first, and includes slight spoilers for the other couples in the Kingmans series.

This novella is so cute and the perfect way to revisit these characters! It made me laugh and cry (but they were good emotions) and I just enjoyed reading it. It’s a quick read, one that I was able to complete in one sitting, but the story feels complete and nothing feels like it is missing, since this is essentially an extended epilogue. We already got to see these characters fall in love, and this is more of their life together. As always with this series we see a healthy loving relationship, a big family that is so supportive (and competitive) and pet shenanigans. Let’s just say that Trixie’s (FMC) pet rooster isn’t thrilled that she is marrying Chris (MMC). It’s a cute & spicy read that makes me want to go back and reread the Kingmans series again, and I recommend picking it up if you’ve already read The C*ck Down the Block.

I absolutely love this series. It’s heartwarming with some spice 🌶️🌶️. I love all the characters especially the beloved animals throughout. I love body positive message throughout the series. I have read all the books so far and I don’t have a favorite. I was sad this series was ending and wish it could go on forever but was so happy to see that we are getting some wedding novellas to wrap things up. This is definitely a series I will read again and again.

This one in particular had me crying 😭😭😭😭bring the tissues!!! It’s a wedding!!! But also laughing so hard!! 🤣🤣🤣🤣 and there are some nice small doses of spice 🌶️ throughout. The morning of the wedding!!!!🌶️🌶️🌶️🌶️ yes please! Also 🌶️🌶️🌶️🌶️when Trixie and Chris find out wonderful news!!! And then I absolutely loved the hilarious “command logs” of Luke Skycocker. 🤣🤣🤣🤣

I highly recommended this entire series to anyone who enjoys a heartwarming story of a huge family that has a huge heart and the loving people and animals they surround themselves with. There’s also some obstacles along the way of course when are there not when it comes to love stories. This series is filled with a lot of laughs as well as those tug at the heart stings moments. And thankfully they also have a nice amount of spice 🌶️🌶️🌶️ to keep things even more interesting.
This entire review has been hidden because of spoilers.

gosh, i’ve missed my darling, little (well, not at all actually) comfort family!!!!!!!!

it wouldn’t be an 𝗔𝗠𝗬 𝗔𝗪𝗔𝗥𝗗 book if it didn’t have all the sweet, spicy, and deliciously fluffy goodness this world has to offer wrapped into one story! so much heart, love, and absolute chaotic energy all around, which is expected to be found at most weddings i’m sure !

i loved getting to experience 𝗖𝗛𝗥𝗜𝗦 and 𝗧𝗥𝗜𝗫𝗜𝗘’𝗦 wedding with the entire 𝗞𝗜𝗡𝗚𝗠𝗔𝗡 family, and in true 𝗞𝗜𝗡𝗚𝗠𝗔𝗡 fashion, watch them be absolute blubbering messes over just how far they’ve come and be so overcome with emotion it was so, deeply endearing to me. i will never not wish to jump into this family anytime i pick up these damn books <3

what a treat to watch the OGs of this incredible series get to call each other Husband and Wife ! i’m BEAMING for 𝗗𝗘𝗖𝗟𝗔𝗡 and 𝗞𝗘𝗟𝗦𝗘𝗬’𝗦 own wedding novella and so on so forth !!!!!!!!

The Kingman family is back with a fun new WEDDING novella! Chris and Trixie are getting hitched and our lovable oldest Kingman is just beside himself because he wants Trixie's day to be perfect. This is a quick fluffy read that I HIGHLY suggest you read to help your brain escape everything going on right now. Amy's books are fluff and this one is no exception. There are tender moments, steamy moments, and laugh out loud moments. Luke Skycocker is quite the character!

When I heard that the Kingman siblings were getting their own miniseries comprised of novellas centered around each couple’s wedding - sign me up!

This is one of my absolute favorite families. Amy Award was my Most Read Author of 2025 and I’m hoping this year is filled with more releases and novellas.

This book was only about 90 pages, but it had it all! Spicy spice, sweet emotional wedding vows and utter hilarity in the form of chapters in the POV of Luke Skycocker, Trixie’s trusty rooster. Multiple times I giggled out loud.

I got the ARC yesterday and stayed up to finish it because I knew I couldn’t sleep until I finished it! So sweet. I adored Chris and Trixie and loved that we got more time with them. Cannot wait for the rest!! I so hope we get more of the animal POVs. They’re the best! 🐓

Read this book for:

🏈 Multiple POV
🐓 It’s Always Been You
🏈 Childhood Friends to Lovers Wedding

My Thoughts
This novella was a cute and fun ending to Cock Down the Block 💍✨ I really enjoyed that it took place on their wedding day, because it gave the story such a warm and happy feeling. Seeing all the family shenanigans again was a lot of fun, especially with Luke Skycocker causing trouble because of his blinding love for Trixie 😂🤍

Chris turning into a total groomzilla added a lot of humor, but what I loved most was the strong bond of the Kingman family. Their emotional “pep talks” were so wholesome and made the story even sweeter to read. Overall, this was a lovely, light novella, and I cannot wait for the next wedding on February 24th with Declan and Kelsey! 💍✨

⭐️⭐️⭐️ | How to Train Your Groomzilla: Chris & Trixie – Amy Award

At this point, I’ve read the entire series—and yes, I’ll keep reading.
Are these books world-altering, life-changing, or redefining the romance genre? No.
Are they entertaining, low-effort, slightly ridiculous, smutty fluff that does exactly what it promises? Absolutely.

This book is very much on brand for the series: familiar beats, fun chemistry, and just enough drama to keep things moving without asking too much of your brain. It’s predictable, it’s unserious, and honestly?

That’s kind of the point.
The world is exhausting. Sometimes I don’t want literary masterpieces—I want a silly little smut romance, minimal emotional labor, and a guaranteed happily-ever-after. And this delivers exactly that.

Three stars, no shame, no regrets. Let people enjoy things.

I cannot fully express in words how much I’ve been missing some of the OG kingman couples. I’m sitting patiently (impatiently) waiting for Kelseys book- my little weiner the pooh who inspired me to get an actual weiner dog called weiner the pooh! It’s all just so cute and so perfect. These novella’s are a precious idea. This one specifically was Luke Skycocker’s book, um- I mean Chris and Trixies book I guess... Either way I loved it. I love all three of them so much, one happy chaotic little family. I sped through this with a smile on my face. Lots of laughs and LOTSSS of swoon worthy moments. It was fun and goofy and everything we’ve come to lvoe and expect form them. I can’t WAIT for Kelseys..... Hopefully itll be soon.

If Amy Award writes it, then I am going to read it!

So you have read the whole Kingman series and need more before the next books come out? Well, this one is for you! Going back to the first couple, we finally get to read about Chris and Trixie getting married! In all their Kingman glory, you know exactly how crazy the wedding is going to be.

I loved seeing more of Chris and Trixie and the whole family! Plus we got a point of view from a character you love (if you’ve read the books). It was so much fun to read this novella! But also why did it give me the feels? But that is honestly how Amy writes and I love it!

Basically you are going to love revisiting this couple and feel some things.

Love. Love. Love!!! 💙💜💚💛❤💖💕💓💞🍗🐓🏈

I mean that with every fiber of my being! From the first time I read Luke Skycocker, I have been in love with all things Kingman! It's bad enough that I see similarities between all things Kingman and everything I read and/or watch. When Louisa Madrigal shows up in Encanto...see where I'm going with this?! Another favorite series of mine, The Brash Brothers by Jenna Myles, has some amazing similarities, as well!!

I am NOT implying that anyone is plagiarizing anything! If you're a reader, you know that we can make connections between stories with every story...ever. I love seeing such connections, especially when they occur between some of my favorite stories!!

Happy Release Day to this wonderfully sweet and spicy Cocky Kingman novella!! I fell in love with the Cocky Kingman series after reading the first book, The C*ck Down The Block, featuring Chris and Trixie. They are childhood friends, who finally admit their feelings for each other, and now in this amazing novella we get to see them getting married and living their happily ever after! This story made me laugh, smile, and even had me tearing up a bit! This novella may be short, but it is full of love, family, and some shenanigans from the beloved Luke Skycocker. I am so excited for this new novella series and I can’t wait for the next one!

Honestly? I was not at all ready to let the Kingmans go.. luckily I don't have to just yet! Amy Award came in clutch and delivered a fantastic wedding novella for one of my all time favorite romances. This is just short and sweet all around, I really enjoyed it! 🐔

I love seeing the Kingman siblings bond together over this wedding, it makes me wish I had a big family like them. Luckily I can live vicariously through them! 😅
I think the world needs more fluffy romance books like this, especially at times when the world feels so scary. ❤️

Thank you to Love notes PR and Amy Award for my early copy of this book!

This was sweet. It’s been a while since I’ve read Chris and Trixie’s story so I needed a little refreshed but I still love them together. Sometimes it’s hard to keep track of the ensemble because there are just so many of them and most of them have their own books too. I teared up through a good chunk of this novella — anytime the Kingman family was talking about how much they love and support each other or how they miss and honor their mom. Talk about an emotionally intelligent family. I will say that I thought the chapters written from Luke the rooster’s perspective were a bit cringey for me, but it didn’t make the whole thing unreadable for me in any way.
