If I get lost enough, maybe I can be found.

Stella’s life is a blur of existing for the system, living in a society where souls feel like discarded afterthoughts. At her breaking point, the only option is to abandon her meaningless life to search for something… more.

Seeking nature in a quest for healing, deep within the forest, she discovers a secret village that no one was meant to find. Captured and taken for interrogation, she fears she escaped one prison only to find herself in another.

When presented to the leader, their connection is cosmic. Though Stella is undeniably drawn to him, she tries to defy the stars, desperate to keep the promise she made to herself.

To leave the village and return to a society that no longer serves her, she must pass their trials. But as the world’s secrets unravel, she realizes finding the village was no accident.

Does she go back to the life of lies she knows, or rise to a destiny that she isn’t prepared for?

Fear and fate collide— the only way for Stella to awaken the world from darkness is to first find the light within.

From The Stars is quite literally an emotional roller coaster following a journey of self-love and acceptance. The story builds with such organic motion that you can’t help but steamroll from chapter 3 to chapter 30, eating up every bit of poignant tension, growth and adventure along the way.
Just when you get comfy, when you’re screaming victory in the car, the rug is pulled out from under your feet with such beautiful intention and purpose, that it only inspires bigger and louder cheers as you move deeper into the story.
Kiki’s creative humour, imagination and loveable characters make you want to step into the page to join their world. To see such emotional intelligence, unbounding empathy and masterful life advice woven into a captivating and thrilling narrative shows a refreshing and enlightening new side to the literacy industry.
This book creates self-reflection, is a lesson and a warm hug all in one - while still managing to digs its nails into your adrenaline and have you aching for one more page.
There a is no one that wouldn’t benefit from indulging in this magnificent book.

Reading an ARC of this book was a real pleasure!
We are all in on the action since the very beginning, no preparing, no easily going in, no, we are right on action from the very beginning, and I love that! It grabbed my attention right away.
I find our FMC, Stella, really funny. I was laughing hard with her thoughts. And her funny inner thoughts literally represent me 😂
On the other hand, we have a FMC that is trying to learn how to love herself, how to find herself, how to accept all the versions of herself, how to validate all of her emotions, how to understand herself, and how to see herself for what she really is now instead of what she had to pretend to be before or of what she thinks is the goal that she must be in the future. This is handled so well in this book! We can see that Stella is confused, angry, or sad, and we feel all of this with her. But we also feel when she is happy, excited, or free 🫶
Now, about our MMC… I love him! He is my new book boyfriend! He is patient, he is kind, he is caring, he is understanding, he is protective, he really hears her, he really sees her, and he is always there for her when she wants it and when she needs it without any hesitation, without any pressure. This melts my heart ❤️
The only thing I wanted was: more! More of them together, more of her, more of him! I need his POV so badly 😫😫
The drop of water running down his back (IYKYK) 💧😏

And the ending?? I’m scared!! I need book 2 right now 😭

Quotes I absolutely loved:

“I am my own damn hero.”

“There was something between us from the beginning, and it can only be described as the most natural thing in the world.”

“He watches me with the focus of someone desperate for water, and I’m a cup full of it. Overflowing. As if he hasn’t known warmth in months, and I am a scorching fire. Blazing.”

“She is a woman, and we build each other up, not compete. We empower.”

“Is that look on your face just from the song? Because if it is, I’ll play until my fingers bleed. Maybe even then, too.”

“I’ve never seen him look at her, or any other woman, the way he looks at you.”

“You’re my checkpoint. You’ve carved out a space and settled in my mind. But I want that - to let my thoughts wander as I go about my day, and keep returning to my checkpoint. I’m always coming home to you.”

“I want to be better for you. I want to watch when you decide to open up, or when you decide not to, and I’ll wait until you change your mind. I want your honesty, your bravery, your transparency. And I also want you with all your walls up. However I can have you, I’ll consider myself lucky. And more than that, I respect you. Because I know that you want me too, and you choose yourself. That only makes me want you more.”

“I’d like to be your peace. But as good as it feels to be close to you, even just for a minute, I’d sooner turn to dust than have my presence add to your burdens.”

“You only need to ask, and anything you want is yours.”

“Never let go. He has to. I have to. Because then we aren’t pretending anymore. Were we ever?”

Thank you to the author for an ARC of From the Stars in exchange for an honest review.

From the Stars is an intriguing urban fantasy with strong themes of self-love and self-worth.

It threw me into the action from the very beginning, so much so that I could barely catch my breath! When the pacing slowed down, the main character went on a very insightful and introspective journey as she battled with anxiety, panic attacks and self-sabotaging behaviour as she discovered her magical abilities. She longs for more meaning in her life and escapes the grey, concrete jungle, for a real jungle, with a tribe of characters who do not trust her.

Beneath the main fantasy story is a slow burn romance. The banter was delicious, the tension had my heart pumping and the tender moments felt very ethereal. The spice is mild and sweet with mostly kissing and hand holding, but the emotional connection was intense.

This story would appeal to anyone who has ever experienced crippling anxiety, believed themselves ‘not good enough’ or unworthy and undeserving of any success and has gone on (or perhaps needs to go on) a journey of self-love.

My fav quotes:
“My kindness is not transactional”

I’m trying to learn that how others see my lines and bumps doesn’t define how lovable or desirable I am.”

“You’re my checkpoint” … “I’m always coming home to you”

Thank you so much to the author for sending me an ARC copy in exchange for my honest review.

ARC READER REVIEW

the emotional rollercoaster of a lifetime…

this book has humor, love, despair, hurt, healing, and so much more. Stella’s journey through this book was beautiful. she’s an incredibly relatable character which makes it so easy to connect to her.

correct me if i’m wrong, but i don’t believe the author ever describes what anyone looks like past vague descriptors. i loved getting to create my own versions of everyone in my head in the gorgeous setting she created. it makes it easier to connect with the characters, especially Stella, on a deeper level than you usually can with other books. i felt like i could feel what she was feeling.

i truly loved reading this and am honored to be a part of the arc team so that i may share this book with all my reader friends! i cannot wait to get a physical copy of my own when it is officially released!!!!💚

P.S. you’re mean for ending it like that girl😭😭😭

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

✨ If you love stories where the forest feels alive, the stars seem to be watching, and a chance encounter turns into a journey of discovering who you really are, From the Stars is one to add to your TBR. ✨

"Do you believe there is more to life than what you see?"

That question sits at the heart of From the Stars and perfectly captures the feeling of this book.
The story follows Stella, a woman feeling disconnected from her fast-paced, corporate world who stumbles into a hidden community living beyond everything she thought she knew. From the first few chapters I was completely immersed. The culture felt unique, the writing was beautiful, and I loved details like the community's language(even though I had to flick to the language page a million times sounding it all out haha) and the secrecy surrounding names. There's something fascinating about the idea that names hold power and shouldn't be given away freely.

One of my favourite parts was Stella's relationship with ‘the interrogator’. Their dynamic is heated, frustrating, tender, and incredibly compelling. I found myself constantly wanting more scenes between them. The reveal involving his name genuinely made my heart race, especially after Stella's childhood connection to it. It felt like one of those moments where all the pieces suddenly click into place.

There were also so many little details that stayed with me. Stella's ring engraved with "I Promise To Find More" was such a beautiful reminder throughout the story. I loved how self-aware Stella was as a protagonist, actively trying to apply what she'd learned through therapy while navigating overwhelming emotions and life-changing revelations. Even when she was struggling, she remained thoughtful and reflective.

What stood out most, however, was the book's focus on healing and self-discovery. This isn't a fast-paced action fantasy. It's a deeply introspective story about learning who you are, confronting the parts of yourself you'd rather avoid, and reconnecting with both nature and your own intuition. The fantasy elements felt less scientific and more metaphysical, exploring consciousness, emotion, connection, and the unseen forces that shape us.

My biggest criticism is that the middle and latter sections occasionally became so focused on Stella's internal journey that the wider plot felt secondary. I found myself wanting to learn more about the dystopian outside world, the Activs and their abilities, and the larger conflict involving Discon. Some of the later trials also became a little confusing, and I would have loved a glossary explaining the different abilities.

I also personally struggled with the amount of swearing. The story has such a peaceful, reflective atmosphere that every time Stella dropped another "fuck" it pulled me out of the experience a little, but I do understand she is an outsider to Jaf’ua.

Overall, From the Stars is a thoughtful and heartfelt read that blends romance, nature, healing, and metaphysical fantasy into a story about finding yourself and discovering there may indeed be more to life than what we can see.

I received a free ARC of this book and have written my honest review below.

From the Stars is about Stella, a young woman who runs away from her soul-draining cement city life to find herself in a forest. She stumbles on a hidden society and falls in love with their way of life, the people, and one man in particular. This story is about her learning to love herself, cloaked in a fantasy romance. I give it 3.25 stars.

Likes:
The characters are loveable. You really find yourself rooting for them and celebrating their budding friendships and growing trust. The author also did a good job of describing the settings—it was easy to picture the environment and immerse yourself in the forest alongside the characters. The beginning was quite strong, and through the use of some common tropes, I found myself pleasantly entertained by the romance. The male lead is quite the supportive love interest, and I appreciate the wholesome journey he and Stella take.

Dislikes:
There is a solid 40% of the middle of the book where Stella goes on a rather forced "self-love" journey. After making progress with the male lead, she turns a 180 and distances herself from him in order to learn how to be happy without him. Unfortunately, not much else is happening at this time, so you spend most of the book waiting for Stella to listen to everyone around her explain how she can learn to not hate herself. This made the book feel stagnant and it didn't pick back up until right before the end. It felt like a therapy session stuffed into the context of a fantasy.

I do understand that the author has a history in social work and an interest in therapy, so I can appreciate that it would be an important element of the story she wanted to tell. However, I feel that should be made more clear in the marketing, as I approached this book as an escapist fantasy and found myself chugging through someone else's therapy. I enjoyed parts of this book and I would be interested in reading the future books, as I feel the story was really starting to gain traction at the end. I think if I had known in advance that this book would focus more on Stella's personal journey than the story of the world, I would have enjoyed it more and could have appreciated it better for what it was.

Mixed feelings.

The story was unique. I can’t even describe it. It’s a dystopian fantasy with a false utopia vibe, urban fantasy, but it felt like reading a self-help book fantasy-world edition. It’s interesting.

I also appreciated Stella’s (FMC) sarcasm. I really did, but there were moments that I started to get annoyed because of it. From the start, her inner monologue was a bit challenging for me to read. She’s supposed to be finding herself through nature therapy and all that, but after a hike gone wrong, she ended up as a ‘prisoner’ of some mysterious people. Yes, she was scared but I didn’t feel like she’s taking it seriously [insert a lot of sarcasms in her inner monologue]. It might be her coping mechanism but It was just too much for me and that was just the first few chapters. Until I couldn’t relate to her anymore and ended up skimming.

I gave it a chance after a few more chapters but then reading it felt like I was having therapy myself. It’s a really interesting feeling towards a book and probably one of the strengths of the story. It just became mostly about self healing and less about fantasy so I found myself skimming again. Maybe it should’ve been advertised as something else? Though I don’t know what since it’s really something unique.

I still recommend this book. I’m sure some will like it especially for those who want something new and interesting.

From The Stars by Kiki Townley was an incredible read. Stella has lived in a world of concrete and technology, nature no longer an integrated part of society. The book begins after she has decided she is finished being so disconnected from herself, and finds herself drawn deeper into a forest. A magical and hidden village there will change life as she knows it, and everything she knew about herself. While she is there she learns the ways of the people who live there, and befriends a Seer, as she awaits the Trials of Trust to determine if she can be released back out into the world knowing their secret. Amazing book!

My favorite parts:
- Absolutely laugh-out-loud hilarious, Kiki Townley is masterful with inner dialogue and realistic interactions.
- FMC is relatable and emotional, even finding this magical village, she never loses sight of the reason why she came there: to find herself first.
- Romance is full of chemistry, fiery, communicative, and clean.
- FOUND FAMILY!!!!!
- FOREST SETTING
- The epiphany of consciousness that the FMC finds is transcendent and not something often brought into fantasy or romance novels. I was in tears. This book holds strong regard of self-love and emotional awareness, that highly elevated it for me.
- HEALING

This isn’t just a book about rebelling against dystopian control- it’s a book about getting lost, finding family, and most of all finding yourself.

Stella is like many of us, finding our purpose, desperately searching for who we are and what we are meant to be. While on a journey of self discovery- she finds more than she was expecting to find- a hidden civilization determined to rebel against a government that wants nothing more than to control them.

Over time, she uncovers secrets of the world around her and learns more about herself. Focusing on the events around her, romance is the last thing on her mind, but fate has other plans for her.

I devoured every bit of this book. I laughed, I gasped, and I cried. This is a book that will live in my heart forever.

If you’re looking for a book where you can relate to the FMC, a slow burn (but worth it😉), and action that will have you on the edge of your seat- this book is for you!

Tropes:

📖Dystopian control meets quiet rebellion
🦮German shepherd x black cat🐈‍⬛
👩🏼‍🤝‍👨🏽Allies to lovers👩🏼‍❤️‍💋‍👨🏽
🌆Industry vs Nature🌳
📖 Reluctant chosen one
❤️‍🔥The ultimate slowburn❤️‍🔥

Wow! A first book? I would hardly believe it! A well thought out book with great world building (something that is incredibly important to me). A phenomenal achievement for this Australian up and comer.

Immediately I can tell this has series energy, action packed with a gorgeous romance element too. This romance element has something other books have sorely needed, it's healthy and real with just a tease of "out of this world" ifykyk.

Not only the romantic relationship is satisfying but also the platonic ones, I really appreciate the depth of the other connections throughout the book and found myself enjoying reading those scenes just as much as the romantic ones.

If you like witty dialogue, reminiscent of powerhouses like Kresley Cole, you will enjoy the banter between the characters in this story. Between the relatable inner monologue and funny character interactions you'll be treated to carefully laid out plot points that feed you information in a way that is easy to follow and organic to the progression, everything unfolds nicely for a thoroughly satisfying read.

I can't wait to see how the next book picks up where we left off so I hope we aren't kept waiting!

I was lucky enough and honoured to be one of Kiki’s Beta readers and was blown away by Kiki’s writing style. She has an excellent creative mind that comes up with some truly imaginative similes and metaphors that help give us glimpses into her mind and vision for her debut book.
Kiki has managed to interweave elements of her studies of Social Work throughout her storyline that prompt the reader to be curious of theirselves. She demonstrate some wonderful ways to critically reflect on our thoughts and behaviours in a way that doesn’t feel like you’re reading a non-fiction self-help book. It feels seamlessly integrated throughout her writing in a natural way.
Her characters are thoughtful and well-rounded and full of vibrancy, which if you’re fortunate enough to meet Kiki in person, she emanates through and through. Her world building is colourful and has wonderful imagery that makes it fee like you’ve truly entered the world she’s created.
Guys… she’s freaking clever and has written an excellent book! Go give it a read!

Kiki!!! What a debut!

From the Stars follows Stella, a woman trying to escape a life of living under other people's influence and control. In doing so she ends up in a hidden village populated by "rebels".

We witness Stella's journey to accepting her self-worth. She learns to love all the darkest parts of herself and watching that unfold is honestly beautiful!

There were so many moments that touched my heart and made me stop and think "damn, I feel that." I laughed, I freaking panicked, and I freaked tf out. 🤣

I can't leave out Orion. That man has me wrapped around his finger! He's grounded, yet filled with desire. He's a man willing to wait for Stella to love herself before expecting her to love him. I'm so down bad for him.

This is book one so be prepared for a massive cliffhanger! It left me staring at my wall unsure of how I was supposed to feel, or what I was supposed to do next.

Okay, I have no idea where to start. 🤷‍♀️🤦‍♀️ I don't want to spoil anything, so I'll have to say very little. 🤐🤏

This book took me by surprise. 😲🤩 Firstly, if you're tired of your traditional FMCs, then this book is for you. 📖✨ When I tell you this girl is sassy in the best way, I mean it. 💅🔥

This book is amazing in every way possible: the characters, the setting, the way it immerses you from the first sentence. 🌟 immersing_book No book has ever made me laugh so hard while being so confused. 😂🤯 It made me feel all the feels and emotions. 💖😭 IT'S AMAZINGGG. 🤩💯 And surprising in its plot, you will love it! 📖😍

Did I mention it's a debut? 🆕📚 I have no idea how Kiki pulled this off on her first novel. (Because she is a genius, that's how!) 🤔✍️ This is magic captured in words on pages. ✨📖

Go read this book right now, please (you will be obsessed). 🚀📚😍

From the very first page, this book pulls you in with an immediacy that's hard to shake. Stella's story, escaping a hollow, soul-crushing society only to stumble into a hidden forest village, wastes no time getting to the good stuff.

The chemistry between Stella and the village's leader is one of the highlights. He's introduced with that irresistible brooding energy, the kind of man who is guarded and commanding on the surface but quietly devoted to the people he cares about underneath. It's a classic archetype done well, and it makes for a compelling dynamic that keeps the pages turning.

At its heart, this is a story about a woman finding herself, and the plot does a solid job weaving together themes of fate, identity, and the courage it takes to step into a destiny you never asked for. If you're a fan of fantasy romance with a touch of the mystical and a heroine on the edge of awakening, this one is worth picking up.

From the Stars is out now! Available through Amazon on Kindle or paperback.

Fantasy + self-help book + day dreamy

I loved that it got straight into the story, you definitely don’t have to tell someone to “get through the first few chapters”. The pace at some points felt a tad slow and other parts quick, but overall it built up, releasing more and more information then ending on a cliff hanger.

The main character is truely relatable and the messages/themes are as if they taken from my past and my present experiences. This book is so relevant to the world we live in, it’s such a comforting read, but also exciting. After reading the acknowledgements, it makes sense. Can’t wait for what happens in the next book/s!

PS. It’s so nice that for once the main character isn’t a teenager (although I think teens would also be able to relate to this character)

I absolutely love how Kiki weaves together a deeply personal emotional journey with fascinating physical discoveries that ultimately guide the path toward healing and acceptance. The balance between inner struggle and outward exploration feels natural and compelling.

I absolutely love the conversations between the characters. They each carry their own distinct tone and energy. Each exchange carries a distinct emotional texture ranging from lighthearted humour to raw vulnerability and thoughtful guidance, bringing a strong sense of realism to the narrative.

I wasn’t ready for it to end, I genuinely need more 😂. Such a beautifully written book, absolutely love it! Kiki truly outdid herself.

There’s no words to describe how much I loved this book. Suspense, intrigue, spice and mystery. This book has the perfect amount of detail so you feel like you’re really there but it leaves it open enough that you can really delve in. From The Stars made me angry, sad, happy, laugh out loud (multiple times), made me cry and made me tingle. I love love loved it and I’m already rereading it which I have never done before, I just want to take everything in again and I wasnt ready for it to end. 1000000/10 recommend if you like reading literally any genre, this has it all.

Solid 4 star read! What an amazing debut novel!
The start of the book was giving me "the Others" from Lost. Who are these people? Where are we? How are the living like this?

It's a really cool concept and I still have so many unanswered questions. My favorite part was the yearning .. the chemistry between our MMC and FMC was fire!!! I thought the connection the the earth and the universe as well as love of self was refreshing & insightful . Cannot wait to read the next book in the series!!

Loved this book! Congratulations Kikki, you should be so proud :)
This book had me thinking of so many theories and I could not put it down. In love with the main character and the author’s choice of letting the reader decide for themselves how they perceive these characters in their heads. Gave me AVATAR vibes so if you like that, then you’ll love this book. Very excited to see what Book 2 has to offer…

You know there’s nothing I love more than supporting an indie author, and I’m so glad Kiki’s book was put in my path. It’s a breath of fresh air and Stella’s personality is so unique. If you’re looking to laugh, cry and scream when you’ve reached the end, this one is for you. (Seriously, laughed so hard I spat my water on the page) The only thing I might have missed is the detailed description of the characters (eye colour, hair colour etc) but it made my imagination get on board!

From the Stars is one of those books that burrows itself under your ribcage and stays with you. I find myself thinking sometimes “What would Stella do?”

This is a story of growth, yearning, self-doubt, found family, human connection, and the pursuit of ‘more.’ The dynamics of the different relationships make for a layered story that left me… well, honestly, pissed! It ends on a cliffhanger y’all. Don’t say I didn’t warn you.

Stella is so sassy and her internal thoughts had me cracking up! The banter between her and Sage did, too. I love a side character that tells it like it is. We all need that friend.

I don’t want to spoil anything, but Stella is proof that sometimes the greatest adventure of all is learning to love yourself.

Loooove the universe this author has created! So original and unique - the whole story left me clueless for what was coming next and now I’m dying to get my hands on book 2. I love the way we feel familiarity with some things (the okah for example) but they’re far enough removed to up the curiosity. Such a great first novel for this talented author 😍

I had high hopes for this but it really just feels like a 14 year old wrote this on wattpad. The first person POV made the flow really choppy, the internal monologue was immature, and there were way too many metaphors than necessary. Also no background information or world building. It was published this year so I suspect maybe AI was used, most of the dialogue and plot was nonsensical.

I don’t even know how to explain this properly without sounding dramatic, but this book felt like being rearranged from the inside out.

It’s soft, but also heavy in that way where you have to stop and just sit with what you read for a second. So much of it sat with me unexpectedly. I was expecting ‘fuck it’ energy and we did get that with the MMC and FMC, but personally it felt like Kiki went back through time and spoke to my 24 year old self.

And now the current me, learning to accept the angry parts of myself that came from pain and trauma.

There’s this constant feeling of longing woven through it, but not in a sad, empty way. More like being connected to something bigger and not fully understanding it or being ready to take the leap.

I wouldn’t recommend binging. The slower parts feel intentional. Healing and learning to love yourself are not things you rush, and the pacing lets you really feel what Stella is feeling.

There was a lot of resonance between our world and the one we are reading about. Unfortunately minus the magic. But like I said to Kiki, we make the magic ourselves and she has done exactly that with her debut novel.

By the middle, you can feel her strength as a writer really take shape. The plot deepens, the world building is expanding and clearer in your mind, it hooks you! and I have no doubt the second instalment will be even stronger. Although hopefully it won’t be too far away, IYKYK!

Congrats Kiki! ❤️

Ahhhh… truly at a loss where to begin because this book captured my heart forever!!
Stella’s journey of healing despite living through a constant internal dialogue of doubt and crushing heartache holds immeasurable strength and power. Her internal journey happens whilst being launched into chaos that makes her question her world and shifts her perception/hold on unforeseen realities.

This book! It's like an everything bagel. All the delicious things put together into one magnificent book. Stella is on a personal journey to find the herself and meaning/purpose in life. She wanders into a hidden oasis where she faces a new way of life that forces her to question everything she thought she knew.

Stella slowly immerses herself into the community, but she has to work to earn their trust. Along the way she makes a best friend and their conversations were epic. I don't think a dystopian book has ever made me laugh so hard. Scratch that. I can't think of ANY book that made me laugh as hard as this book did. This is the best mix of serious mind-bending ideas and humor.

If you are bothered when the FMC doesn't ask questions or pick up on the nuances of conversation...this book will make you happy. Stella catches EVERYTHING and she's always questioning and working through information. Yet somehow, the twists were still twisty!

It's a whole experience to read this book. Honestly, From the Stars doesn't fit into any mold. It is completely unique and I adore it so much. Think self-help, a study of psychology, dystopian adventure, romance, fantasy creatures, and more. I have never read anything like this and it will stay with me forever.
