A healthy young man dies in his sleep, despite the ringing of seven separate alarm clocks…
Gerry Wade had proved himself to be a champion sleeper; so the other house guests decided to play a practical joke on him. Eight alarm clocks were set to go off, one after the other, starting at 6.30 a.m. But when morning arrived, one clock was missing and the prank had backfired with tragic consequences.
For Jimmy Thesiger in particular, the words ‘Seven Dials’ were to take on a new and chilling significance…
The Seven Dials Mystery is coming to Netflix in January 2026, starring Mia McKenna Bruce, Martin Freeman and Helena Bonham Carter.

I am a long term fan of Agatha Christie and read most of her books when I was a teenager but missed this one. I saw that there was a Netflix adaptation and was pleased to be able to get an audio version.
Lady Eileen, known to all as Bundle for reasons long forgotten is an amateur sleuth after an event in her home documented in a previous book. When a death occurs in her house while it is being rented she is intrigued. She soon becomes embroiled in the mystery when she learns that the death was more suspicious than first thought. The detective on the case is known to her from the previous story and she tells him of her findings.
She is put in danger, sometimes intentionally and other times not and it was interesting to find out how the story unfurls.
As with all of Agatha Christie novel there is a fairly large cast of significant characters and it takes a while to get to know them all and keep track of what is happening. As always there is more than one twist in the tale and as expected it is very well written. Hercule Poirot remains my favourite Christie detective but I enjoyed hearing about Bundle.
The narration was excellent and very clear.
Thank you to Netgalley and the publishers for the DRC
I’m super excited about the newest Netflix adaption of this and to have such a well narrated and entertaining portrayal of this in audiobook form was a treat!
I’m a long time Agatha Christie fan (Poirot is my spirit animal) and I have an extensive collection of hers on my shelves. I can never pass up the option of a new edition and I will loyally consume each and every one of them!
Seriously, this audiobook was outstanding and Mia McKenna Bruce was a pure natural narrator.
Whilst this story isn’t among my absolute tip top favourites, I did really enjoyed it, I had forgotten about Detective Battle and I was happy to eagerly read another Agatha Christie classic.
Thank you to the publisher for a copy of this audiobook on NetGalley in return for my honest thoughts and review.
