I’m not sure how I feel about this one. It wasn’t bad but it wasn’t good either. It probably has a lot to do with how I didn’t think some of the things the MMC Jake did romantic.
First example…him going to the ladies room and locking the door with Jessica in there. He could have waited to talk to her after she came out. Locking the door was just too much in my opinion. Second: lying to Sarah & Tom. Why??? I feel Jessica is capable of being civil without having to pretend she and Jake are an actual couple working things out. Also, you lied Jake that’s not cool. Also, side note but Sarah seems like a horrible friend. You know Jessica doesn’t like him so why force them to sleep in the same suite and get excited they’re working things out. Third: dancing with her at the wedding. She asked for space Jake. Thats not giving her space.
I’m glad both characters went to therapy (they both needed it). Sarah and Tom could also use some therapy themselves…like stop sharing stuff when it’s not needed.
I dunno. It was a cute ending but this wasn’t a favorite of mine. Cute read to start the new year though.

Jessica is stunned when she sees her ex-boyfriend Jake at the resort and learns he is to be best man at their friends’ wedding. She is to be maid of honor. She was hurt when he accepted a job in another state without discussing it with her. She was devastated when he left and now he’s talking about a second chance. She’s afraid to try although the old spark is still between them. Her therapist asked if the risk of getting hurt worth the possibility of finding happiness. Jake was not satisfied with his job and opened his own law firm to specialize in helping foster kids. He had grown up in foster care and realized he had pushed people away before they could leave him. He wants to help other kids going through this. Jessica and Jake took their time getting to understand themselves before they took that second chance.
