She showed up to her sister's wedding with purple hair and zero apologies.
Violet Martin wasn't trying to ruin the big day—she just wanted someone to finally notice her. Mission accomplished. Now her family's furious, the bride's in tears, and Violet's about to bail on the whole disaster.
Larry Langston. Grumpy. Overworked. The cowboy tasked with keeping the wedding chaos under control. And somehow, that includes babysitting his soon-to-be sister-in-law's rebellious little sister for the next three days.
He's not a babysitter. She's not a child. And the forced proximity with the giant age-gap is about to get dangerously complicated.
A fast-paced, banter-filled romantic comedy about family disasters, forced proximity, and falling for the last person you're supposed to want.
Forced proximityGrumpy x sunshine (chaos edition)Age-gapHe falls first (and hates it)Wedding chaosContains spice, sarcasm, and a bathtub scene that changes everything.
Madison Colt writes raw, heart-twisting romances with characters you can’t forget and emotions you can’t shake off. Her books blend passion, humor, and that bittersweet ache of love you almost lost.
Her heroines always bring chaos—the kind that turns lives upside down—and the men? Well, they’re irresistibly addictive, sexy as hell, and impossible to walk away from. Every cup of coffee turns into sarcasm in her veins, fueling every wicked line and unapologetic twist in her stories.
When she’s not writing, she’s riding horses, traveling to new places, people-watching in coffee shops, or plotting her next fictional heartbreak—all while being dangerously funny and more than ready to mess with your heart.
Read with caution: you might laugh, cry, and fall a little bit in love. The characters in her books are fictional. Any resemblance to real people is purely coincidental… though the author can neither confirm nor deny otherwise.
Some characters don’t walk into a story—they explode into it.
Mischief is exactly that kind of book—bold, funny, a little chaotic, and completely impossible to put down once Violet Martin shows up and turns everything upside down.
Violet doesn’t do subtle.
She arrives at her sister’s wedding with purple hair, piercings, attitude, and absolutely no intention of blending in. And while her choices may cause a little (okay… a lot) of chaos, underneath it all is someone who just wants to be seen.
Really seen.
And that’s what makes her so easy to connect with.
Then there’s Larry.
Grumpy. Responsible. The one holding everything—and everyone—together. He’s the last person who wants to deal with a whirlwind like Violet, and yet somehow, he’s the one stuck with her for the next few days.
What follows is pure gold.
Their dynamic is electric from the start—sharp banter, constant push-and-pull, and that undeniable tension that neither of them wants to acknowledge. The age gap adds an extra layer of complication, especially as Larry tries (and fails) to keep things strictly appropriate.
Because Violet doesn’t make anything easy.
She challenges him, teases him, and pushes every button he has… but she also sees through him in a way no one else does. And Larry, for all his gruff control, ends up being exactly what she didn’t know she needed—steady, grounding, and quietly protective.
What makes this story stand out is how well it balances humor with heart.
Yes, it’s funny. Yes, it’s messy. Yes, there are moments that will absolutely make you laugh out loud (the bathroom scene alone is unforgettable). But there’s also something deeper underneath it all—a story about identity, attention, and learning that you don’t have to create chaos to matter.
If you love: 💜 bold, rebellious energy with a soft center 🤠 grumpy, responsible man losing control in the best way 🔥 age-gap tension with undeniable chemistry 😂 banter-filled moments that keep you smiling 🏡 small-town chaos with emotional payoff
…this one is such a fun ride.
Because sometimes the loudest, messiest person in the room…
is just waiting for someone to finally understand them.

Mischief (Langston Brothers, Book 3) is a lively, warmhearted romantic comedy that opens in the middle of a wedding-day blowup and never loses its momentum. Madison Colt introduces Violet Martin with immediate personality—bold, funny, and aching to be seen—then drops her into a family storm that feels both dramatic and surprisingly relatable. The setup is classic rom-com, but the emotional stakes are grounded, making the chaos feel earned rather than gimmicky.
Colt’s biggest strength here is voice: the banter sparkles, the comedic timing lands, and the point of view stays clear even as tensions rise. Larry Langston’s gruff, overworked steadiness plays well against Violet’s impulsive energy, creating a push-and-pull that’s entertaining without losing respect for either character. Just as important, the story gives supporting characters room to matter, so the wedding setting becomes more than a backdrop—it’s a pressure cooker that reveals loyalties, insecurities, and unexpected tenderness.
By the end, Mischief delivers exactly what readers come to this series for: fast pacing, heartfelt growth, and a satisfying payoff that balances humor with genuine feeling. Fans of small-town family dynamics, forced proximity, and sharp dialogue will find plenty to enjoy, and newcomers can jump in thanks to the clear context and strong standalone arc. It’s an upbeat, feel-good read that leaves you rooting for the whole Langston clan.

This mountain man cowboy romance was a difficult read for me because the setup and character relationships were surprisingly confusing from the start. It took quite a while to figure out who everyone was and how the characters were connected to each other, which made it hard to get invested in the story early on. One of the biggest issues for me was the believability of the relationships and character behavior. The male lead supposedly doesn’t recognize his best friend’s little sister, despite the fact that most people would at least know what their best friend’s sibling looks like after years of friendship. That disconnect immediately made the setup feel unrealistic. The large age gap also added another layer that the story didn’t fully convince me worked naturally. The female lead’s actions also felt bizarre at times, especially entering what is essentially a stranger’s house, making herself at home, and causing chaos without permission. Instead of coming across as quirky or charming, many interactions just felt strange and difficult to believe. Once I finally understood the setup, the romance itself still didn’t fully convince me emotionally. Overall, the story had some interesting ideas, but the confusing character dynamics and unrealistic behavior made it hard for me to connect with the romance.

She is all kinds of messy, and he is all kinds of strait laced and rule following. Their chemistry is instant, and there’s a lot of heavy tension, flirting, and some chaotic situations. This is part of a series about brothers, and while each couples stories, its own standalone, it is helpful to read them in order because some of the backstory flow through the series, as well as the characters pop-up in each other’s story and sometimes reference events that I’ve already happened. This is modern, but still has some elements of the old west, which is an interesting twist. My biggest complaint is how quickly the story ends as soon as they connect.

Book 3 of the Langston Brothers series. Can be read as a standalone.
'A fast-paced, banter-filled romantic comedy about family disasters, forced proximity, and falling for the last person you're supposed to want. Contains spice, sarcasm, and a bathtub scene that changes everything.'
The characters were very appealing and likeable and complicated and perfectly steamy together. Plot was intriguing and exciting and well paced. World building was solidly drawn and impressive. All in all a great addition to the series. Thoroughly enjoyed and highly recommend.

So this whole series is a very good read it follows Three Brothers and it has a little bit of everything the romance is kind of slow building for a short book but it works and by the end you're definitely ready for the spicy scenes. Now Madison does not put the spicy scenes in the main book at the end of the book she offers you the free bonus book that's like a spicy epilogue kind of and it is most definitely spicy again they don't cost anything she just chooses to do it separately for the people who don't want to have to read it.
Spice level in book 🔥🔥🔥 Spice extra book🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥.

Violet showed up to her sister's wedding with purple hair, piercings, and more. chaos ensued. and Larry was put on charge to keep this in order. namely Violet. they had an immediate attraction. it was so undeniable. but he was 12 years older. she didn't care. she pushed buttons, made vessels. herself known, until he finally gave in. these two were prefect for each other. it had my heart that Violet wasn't about creating chaos, standing out, or being loud, she just wanted to be seen. this was an amazingly sweet and fun story.
Another short but entertaining read. Violet was a little rebel, she had purple hair, tattoos, body piercings all over and an attitude to go with it. Larry, Cash’s brother, was a lawyer and she completely threw him for a loop. He tried to be the adult (he was 12 years older) but she was a definite challenge to ignore. Would have liked to see where things went with them in the future.

Book three of the Langston brothers series. This is NOT a cowboy book. More like a corporate age-gap, without the corporate. Another good read, but, like the others in the series it ends way too quickly. If the three so far, this is likely my faorite, which is ironic seeing as it's not a cowboy-type story.

“Mischief” by Madison Colt -A bold, funny small-town romance where chaos meets control in the best way. I received a free copy and am voluntarily sharing my honest thoughts.
Violet’s wild energy and Larry’s grumpy restraint create electric, banter-filled chemistry. Short, steamy, and heartfelt, blending humor with a story about being seen.
The last thing grumpy lawyer and cowboy Larry expected was to cpme home to find his new sister-in-law to be half naked dying her hair in his bathroom! Shes half his age but the sparks fly, she pushes him to the limit, but he settles her. Well written fast paced quick age gap romance.
Violet was a hoot, I absolutely loved her character. The MMC didn't expect a handful or an HEA. Looking for a true grumpy sunshine age gap that keeps you on your toes, this is it.

I really liked this story. It was a short, quick read to a HEA. I especially loved that he saw the real her that no one else bothers to see. Now she can stop trying to get attention!.
