On the New Testament

Rate this book
Packed with big truth, this little book on the New Testament can be read in roughly one hour, making it a book you'll actually read. Mark Driscoll, one of America's most influential pastors, answers the nine most common questions about the New Testament-questions about authorship, different translations, trustworthiness of the Scriptures, and more-and gives an overview of the various kinds of New Testament literature. Two appendices include a comprehensive list of further resources and a checklist for reading through the entire New Testament. On the New Testament is part of a series of inexpensive and accessible books that give clear, biblical answers to difficult theological questions and controversies. Through this series readers will get a solid and simple introduction to the Bible by investing just a little time.

As with his companion book On the Old Testament, this book is a short but sweet, and very informative read, concentrated with truth over what the Bible is, why we should trust it, and how we should approach it. Most importantly, as with any of Mark's literature, it keeps Christ in the foreground, lest anyone not realize that is the ultimate purpose of the entire Bible. Mark both explains the Bible and offers a wealth of advice and resources on properly interpreting the Bible and growing closer to God.

A good overview and discussion of questions relating to the NT. Several of the sections in this book relating to the Bible and to Bible study are identical to Driscoll's accompanying book "On the Old Testament".

The bottom line: An excellent introduction to the New Testament basics with some extra theological lessons as an added bonus.

On the New Testament is the second book in the Testament series by Mark Driscoll. Basically, this is a succinct, brief, and concise introduction to the NT that first lays a solid biblical foundation, and then serves as a launching pad to guide further and more comprehensive study. This book is not a comprehensive resource, nor does it proclaim to be. The book thoroughly answers ... http://www.chesadaphal.com/on-the-new...

A short read going over the books of the New Testament of the Bible. It was very informative and I look forward on how to grow in Christ by reading the Bible. There was also a good appendix in the back on building a theological library.

Great NT intro. I'd love to grab a bunch of these to hand out to people just discovering the NT. Very clear, helpful, and written by someone who loves the NT. Explains what the NT is, and summarizes each book. Superb for what it tries to do.

This one is a gem. Really helpful chapter section on "Principles for interpreting the NT", and also the section "How should I come to the scriptures?". Driscoll helpfully discusses his own personal bible study routines also.

Excellent! Another book that I borrowed from my pastor, but it's so helpful that I think I need to get a copy for myself. Highly recommended for anyone studying the New Testament.
