When the Tether breaks, love is the last thread of your soul.
If that thread snaps, what stops you from becoming the very thing you fear?
The first battle is over - but the cost has been immense.
Aura is adrift. Untethered. Her soul split in two. Desperate to stay herself; desperate to stay with Hedge. Terrified she’ll be forced toward another twin. Another life.
The Wiseman family is falling apart. Grief should have bound them together. Instead, it’s tearing them to pieces.
Sam, drowning in guilt and wrestling with his own truths, is slipping into dangerous territory - until a boy enters his life who could save him… or shatter him completely.
Jude is heartbroken, isolated, stranded in a county that isn’t home. Caught between heritage and belonging, she clings to a new friendship that might finally fill the void inside her.
But the shadows are shifting. New allies arrive as new threats rise. Old enemies stir. The darkness that hunts them is far from finished.
And Stace - the one person who should be guiding them - is gone. Driven by duty and haunted by the past, he has vanished into the night to train a new Nightwalker in the ways of the vampire…leaving those who need him most to face the coming storm alone.
Shackled is the second book in the Elemental series. As supernatural romantasy full of dragons, vampires, elemental magic, demons, arc angels and werewolfs, I was instantly transported back into a world where the present day collides with moments of legend.
Sometimes a second book doesn't hold up to the beauty of the first, but that is not the case with Shackled. I was relieved to be able to connect again with the characters after a heart stopping cliffhanger in Book 1: Tethered. I might be a little attached to Tenny and Hatch. The drama and love stories in this book intensified to create a satisfying story with another heart wrenching cliffhanger at the end.
The family in this story is my dream! Connected, supportive, and flawed. We all have moments where we need to rely on our family and friends for support. This book acknowledges those moments and brings family elements into a romantasy. Unique and vulnerable for a romantasy. I loved it!
Hannah Calver is a talented UK indie author. Her characters are rich with complex emotions and histories. Full of UK charm and set in The Forest of Dean, Shackled has an ancient cozy vibe while also giving you spicy love stories.
You will not find fluffy fantasy. The author lists trigger warnings at the beginning to prepare the reader for the content. I love how thoughtful the author approaches mental health for both the reader and the characters. Her characters are realistic and relatable while also being full of the fantasty powers and mystery of romantasy.
This book is a spicy good time! Tethered got spicy y'all and Hannah delivers! Well written without the cringy elements that can sometimes be in spicy romance reads. There are open scenes and details that make you feel the characters attraction to one another.
LBGTQIA affirming characters add an element of appealing to a variety of individuals.
Be prepared for a story that will keep you up at night reading! Enjoy every minute of it and hold on tight... you are going to be in for a spicy good ride!
Wow another amazing action packed story full of twists and turns that you really don’t see coming. I love the characters development into something so much more and how with even finding out how family members have changed they just accept the new version of them and also help them to cope with their own stresses. I can’t divulge what those are because that would give the story away, if you haven’t already guessed what will happen to some family members. There are characters I can honestly say that they bring out really strong emotions, especially a certain female who I would like to get what she deserves, hopefully in book 3, but the ending it really makes you want more and I can’t wait for the book to be out to read what happens.
