She wanted to make a withdrawal from a sperm bank. He would give all he has to make a direct deposit.INVESTING IT ALLFamily law attorney Maddie Prescott is driven to succeed. A pawn in her parents’ messy divorce, she devoted her career to representing children in court, and when her husband’s early death makes it seem like she can’t have it all, she’s ready to beat the odds by going to a sperm bank. One advantage to single parenthood is that her child will never be a pawn. That, and she’ll never have to deal with sarcastic ladies’ men or liars. Jack Worth promised to look out for his dying best friend’s a small repayment for someone who once helped an irredeemable bad boy find the path to happiness. So, while Maddie Prescott’s baby plans are questionable, duty and loyalty prompt Jack first to volunteer as the sperm donor...and then to propose a marriage of convenience. And the more he gets to know her, the more this onetime player will see that Maddie is the woman of his dreams, and that the child they will make deserves to be from a direct deposit.

So, yes. This was my first Marilyn Baxter. And, no. It will not be my last. My proverbial, and literary, cherry has been popped for all things Ms. Baxter. What a sweet ride that was! Great, no superb, storyline! Seriously, I've read the whole 'let-me-be-your-sperm-donor and I promise no strings' all before. And I've also read the 'I-think-I've-fallen-for-my-deceased-husband's-best-friend'. And don't get me wrong, I really do love those books! But, this was different. In a good way!

Maddie Prescott lost her husband a year ago to lymphoma. And she missed him, of course, bit she keeps playing one on their last conversations on repeat.

"I missed it, Maddie. Kids, car pools, little league, AARP. All of it. I thought I could have it all. That we could have it all. Guess I was wrong. Don't make the same mistake."

She's 33. Worried that Alex, her deceased husband, was her once in a lifetime love. As a family law attorney, she had means to take matters in her own hands. To seek artificial insemination. Her plans become thwarted when Jack Worth, Alex's best friend and business partner, found the brochure to the fertility clinic. This is a red flag for Jack because he also kept putting some of Alex's last words to him on repeat.

"He made me promise I'd look after you.

And that I'd protect you."

Maddie and Jack have known each other for years. But they don't really 'know' each other. And get your mind from the gutter people - not that sort of know! But they find this rhythm from Jack checking in on Maddie and it's a very uncomfortable one. Our it serves that way to me. The awkwardness of it all. Talking about the weather and the business that is now 100% Jack's. I knew from the blurb that he was going to offer to be her donor. But when he does, magic! Reading those moments between the two of them... it was great! His jokery (if that even a word!) and her constant need for lists and order.

"I made a list of all the reasons it was a good idea to let you be the donor and a list of all the reasons it was a bad - "

"And after you made your list and checked it twice, you decided I was naughty and not nice?"

I immediately felt - even in the awkward stage - that they were two sides of the same coin. Being the book was in third person POV, it was easy to translate what they were each thinking. Where they each were with the complicated situation.

There was more than sexual tension, hot sex, and flirty banter. This book delves into the childhood and adolescent years of Jack and Maddie. Each had their own 'demons' to overcome. I felt a bit of emotional trauma from Maddie at times. As well as some really thankful moments from Jack to Alex.

The epilogue was fantastic!! Round of applause for to the author! Great writing and even better character development! I loved, equally, Jack/Maddie and Millie and Tess! They were amazing supporting characters! I'm excited I've found another super author!

This is my first Marilyn Baxter book and it's a quick evening or weekend read if you are looking to curl up and get lost in a good book. Maddie Prescott is a successful lawyer and helping children has been her passion. That's what she does now, represents children in court. It's also helps her get by and deal the best she can with the loss of her husband. Jack Worth had a messed up childhood, a dad he never knew and a mom who was only there in body but not for him. One night after a particularly bad argument with her he got drunk and tore up a building under construction only to be caught by the builder. That builder would eventually become his best friend and business partner and was Maddie's husband Alex. A year after Alex's death Maddie wants to have a baby and Jack made a promise to take care of Maddie so he offers to help. Little do they know what's in store for them when they start a journey into parenthood. I liked this story so much because both Maddie and Alex are tormented by things from their childhood. You can tell how much Alex loved both Maddie and Jack by the things that he said to them before passing and you feel a sadness to lose such a great man. Jack steps up to take care of Maddie and in the meantime falls in love and feels himself changing. Maddie is tore up with her attraction to Jack mixed in with some guilt. I don't want to paint this as a sad story although in places it is but as a story of hope and love. I found myself anticipating in the final pages there would be a epilogue and happily there is. I needed to get that little bit of the future to feel i got the whole story. I think you will enjoy that too.

How do you tell a stubborn woman that you made a promise to her late husband to make sure she was protected? How do you tell her that she is beautiful? How do you tell her that you will help her get pregnant and that you will do it your way not with a turkey baster? How do you tell her that you are falling in love with her?
They both struggle with their guilt ....they both miss her late husband / his business partner and friend. How does one tell the other that he made a promise to his friend to make sure she was taken care of without offending her and making her extremely mad? Let's just say very carefully! Maddie has one goal in mind....she wants to be a mother and regrets the fact that before her husband started chemo and radiation that they didn't think to freeze his sperm. Yes I said FREEZE HIS SPERM! I will scream that! She has a plan all safely researched and decided on including the donor.....until Jack throws a wrench in her plans when he sees the letter tucked behind the phone. He does not see it all so he does not know what it completely says ....but he sees enough to get the idea and wondered why it was out in the open like it was. Maddie was so meticulous in putting her client files away. Jack itched to take it out and read it the rest of the way but gets caught lost in thought.
Maddie has to weigh the options of having a baby with Jack being the donor especially when she gets more bad news...... but can she handle it? Can they convince the Judge that their marriage isn't a shame?

I just finished Direct Deposit and I liked it. Maddie wants a baby. Her and her late husband thought they had all the time in the world when the unthinkable happened. Alex dies but before he asks his buddy Jack to take care of her no matter what. Almost a year later he has kept that promise even though at times they are awkward. He finds out that she is willing to get a sperm donor for a chance at a baby, he offers himself. Reluctantly she finally accepts but then there is an obstacle in their way, he offers to marry her for convenience to help her achieve that goal. What he doesnt expect is to fall in love with her. For Maddie, she feels that it is way to soon for her to marry but what else is she gonna do, she wants a baby. She definitely tries to keep her boundaries but that doesnt work out so much. She falls hard. Will they be able to make a baby and keep things platonic? Just gotta read and see.

I really enjoyed the story. I love the whole marriage for convenience story line. Jack and Maddie had good chemistry together. For me I thought it fell a little bit when the whole "in love" came about. I didnt quite get that feeling with them. I still enjoyed it because I wanted to see if she would have a baby or not. It was cute and sexy.

I received an ARC of this book to read, but that has not influenced my review in ANY way!

Direct Deposit is one of those books you will not want to put down from start to finish! Believable characters you will fall in love with from the main characters to the secondary characters! You want to invite them all over, offer them a cup of coffee and become their BFF's. When the characters rejoice you celebrate right along with them and when they cry you weep with them.

Marilyn Baxter has taken the "baby comes first" plot line that has been a mainstay of romance novels for decades and given it a fresh, updated, 2015 face lift. You'll definitely want to get your own copy of this book before it becomes the best seller it's destined to become!

While having dinner with Maddie to make sure that all is well, he sees a paper about sperm donations. He questions her and....

I liked this story. There was lots of witty banter between the characters, lists of pros and cons, plenty of humor, romance, love, doubts, promises, and wonderful life like characters that will have you eating out of the palm of their hand.

If you like slow building relationships in your books, give this one a try.

I received an ecopy in exchange for my honest opinion. I enjoyed it. :-)

Thank you to Book Plug Promotions and Marilyn Baxter for providing me with a copy of this book in return for an honest review. This is the first book by this author for me. I wasn’t sure what to expect going in. But within the first couple of chapters I fell in love with Jack, Maddie, Millie and even Tess. The story, the way it unfolded seems like something so simple made from something heart breaking. There were laughs, “what the hell” moments and a few tears… (happy sigh) I loved it. And I can't wait to see what the author has to offer in the future.

***small spoiler alert***

A year ago Jack’s friend and business partner, Alex, made him promise to take care of his wife and to keep her living before he died. Alex’s wife, Maddie, however doesn’t know about this promise. So, doing what he promised, Jack makes an effort to have dinner with Maddie once a month and to check on her through a phone call in between those visits. But recently Jack spotted a paper behind Maddie’s phone that caught his attention. Seems Maddie is looking into finding a sperm donor so she can have a child. Jack isn't sure how to handle that information at first but he also has to fight the need to be nosy and look at the letter he sees more. During dinner though he and Maddie (who is a bit cheeky) get into a disagreement. (laughs) That disagreement carries off into the kitchen and one after the other they go at each other. They are both feeling the effects of the other one being close and yet they are both fighting it. So their disagreement gets heated… and Jack tosses out to her that instead of getting unknown sperm she should use his.

The next day Jack looks up the sperm bank Maddie had been interested in to see what he would be expecting if she agreed to his request. A request he was still trying to figure out why he had made. Sure he made a promise to Alex but damn. To give his best friend’s wife his sperm to have a baby…. but the offer was out there, he couldn’t take it back. Maddie was taken aback but as Jack left her house he told her to think about it and call him. Three days later, after much thinking, planning and making of contracts (gotta love lawyers) they meet again. But the dinner turns into tears. Maddie, being a family lawyer is also a GAL. Which means she is assigned to be the voice of a child when their parents divorce gets too out of hand. She is an advocate for the ones that don’t have a voice, now has a major problem. The judge that usually assigns her cases has had a heart attack. He is being placed by a judge that is… well he is an asshole. And could put a stop to her being who she wants.

When Jack questions her about the tears she says its over. With the way work is going she can’t do anything that may let her become one of the many that the judge pulls rank with (so to speak). He is not a fan of woman being lawyers as it is. But a pregnant or single mother as a lawyer would really get her over looked. he could destroy the one thing that she loves to do. With her history she can’t let that happen. Jack though (being the sweet man he is… even if he cracks jokes a lot) isn’t going to let her sacrifice her wanting a child just so she can keep her job the way it is. If she needs a husband to make judge asshole not pick on her, then she’ll have that. Needless to say Maddie is once again thrown for a loop by Jack’s offer. (Laughs) But as she had with the other big choice in her life… she chose Jack. They may not really be married but they would make it work. Jack moved into her home, into the full basement she has. But there are a few things scattered up stairs so it looks like he is living in there. Now.. just to get to the “I do” moment.

One signed pre-nup. An agreement to get pregnant and the vows said. Sign, sealed and delivered right? Not that easy. Life has a way of taking what we think is going to work out and slapping us across the head with it. Jack and Maddie tried. Jack tried to make it special for her. He took her to his cabin and though they were nervous he looked inside himself and made it as pleasurable as he could have. Something in them both cracked that day. When you cross the line of just sex to love making it has a way of burrowing into your heart and infects your entire being. It’s like love. Once its got its grips on you, you’re toast. No matter how hard you try to pull it back. The more time pass the closer these two lost souls become even though they fight it back. Both are afraid of being hurt and being loved. What they don’t see is that they are only hurting themselves by being… what’s the right word… oh yeah, stupid. (laughs)

Everyone around them, well at least the ones that know them the best know they love each other. Time seems to make this growing love and need to be with each other. But not all bets are lost when you give a determined man a wife to love.. once he lets himself admit it out loud.

But what happens… you will have to see for yourself.

While I thought that I was learning how to live, I have been learning how to die. - Leonardo da Vinci
People who have no hold over their process of thinking are likely to be ruined by liberty of thought. If thought is immature, liberty of thought becomes a method of converting men into animals. -Muhammad Iqbal

I missed it, Maddie. Kids, car pools, Little League, AARP. All of it. I thought I could have it all. That we could have it all. Guess I was wrong.”- Alex Prescott – Direct Deposit

We never know when Death will appear. And we are never prepared. Maddie Prescott and her husband, Alex, weren’t prepared for Alex to die from leukemia, and Maddie is afraid she will never have a child. So sad that they were so thoughtless as to not bank sperm … (just as an aside, that is the first thing my oncologist asked me – “Do you want to bank eggs?")

Anyway. . .

Now, Maddie is planning to have a child on her own, using a sperm bank. Nothing unusual, a straight business transaction. Then, along comes Jack, Alex’s old friend. The old friend who promised to take care of Maddie after Alex died. And when Jack finds out about the sperm bank, he is determined to stop it.

Make her keep living, Jack. Help her find a good man.

Wow. Even Alex apparently didn’t consider Jack a “good man”. And Jack really didn’t want to help her out, as is pointed out early on in the book – “So he’d made the damn promise and spent the last year making good on it . . .” And over that year he proves it over and over, in so many different ways, it really sort of creeped me out. From him thinking that Maddie, a successful family lawyer, was too dumb to make her own decisions, from the sperm donor to “If nothing else Jack could make sure she didn’t do anything dumb like buy stock in some wildly speculative venture or cash in her 401(k) and invest it in a pyramid scheme” to the multiple instances pointing out that he has the “attention span of a gnat” a “temper and a smart mouth (that) usually got him fired within a few months,” and the cliche “But sometimes it was way too easy to dig at her” Jack proves over and over that he is “immature, unreliable, undependable and irresponsible.”

I know a lot of people find this type of “little boy” behavior acceptable. “Sexy”? I don’t know. The reviews I have read are positive, so there are many who apparently liked the book. Me? Not so much. I wish I could give it a better review. Jack is so focused on the “no fatherless child” I found it irritating and insulting that the author seems to find the whole “having a father” issue more important than having a ‘good’ father figure. One who isn’t immature, unreliable, undependable and irresponsible.

There are many who will love this book for its HEA, and I am glad they will enjoy it. For me, it just didn’t work. I will say the writing is good, the character development is better than I expected it to be though it disappointed me in the end, but if this is your sort of thing, enjoy!

I received this book from the publisher in return for a realistic review. All thoughts are my own and not limited by any outside influence.

**DEBBIE'S REVIEW**

This story was a sweet romance that had me turning the pages into the wee hours of the night because I needed to know how it was going to end.

This book was about Maddie and Jack. Maddie was an attorney and was happily married to Alex until he lost his battle with Cancer. Jack was Alex’s best friend and business partner. Jack made a promise on Alex’s deathbed to look after her. A year after Alex’s death Maddie decided she wanted to have a baby and looked into a sperm donor. Jack had other plans once he realized what she was about to do and talked her into letting him be the donor. This is when the book really gets good. Due to her job situation they decided to get married and do it the old fashion way instead of a turkey baster.

“Somewhere between eating a spaghetti dinner and saying good-bye, Jack had offered to become a sperm donor. Who opened his mouth last night and put words into it? From the look on Maddies face you’d have thought he’d volunteered to sleep with her instead of stepping into an exam room and watch Debbie Does Dallas with a paper cup in one hand.”

Loved Jack!!!!! He was strong headed and didn’t let Maddie walk all over him. I loved that both of them had issues in their past and even though they knew each other for years they really didn’t know each other at all.

This book was fantastic! It drew me in from the first page and I didn’t want the story to end. I will admit some parts tore my heart out but some parts had me reading with those butterflies in your belly. Maddie truly loved her late husband and had a hard time accepting that life had to go on and it was ok to love again. Jack was a player at first but once he got to know Maddie his whole outlook on relationships changed.

The chemistry between these two was fantastic. I loved the banter back and forth and the sex was explosive. The secondary characters were amazing. Millie kept Jack on his toes. She was Jack’s office manager and was hysterical.

“And if you expect me to turn tricks on Peachtree Street to boost revenue, you’re about forty years too late, honey.”

Tess was Maddie’s best friend and I loved that she supported Maddie and her decisions even when she didn’t totally agree with them.

“I won’t kid you, Maddie. I think you’re making a huge mistake. But I also have no idea what it feels like to want a baby as much as you do. I’ll support you in any way I can.”

The book was well written and the only thing I wish was that it was written in first person and not third. I would of loved to really get inside Jack’s dirty little mind.

You know sometimes, you just need a book to curl up in, and lose the world? Nothing too complicated or deep or dark, just a book that ....is??

This one, right here. Granted I read most of it on my lunch break at work, but I soooooooooooo wanted to curl up in it, I did!

Maddie decides, almost a year after her husband Alex died, that she wanted the baby they never had together. But Alex didn't freeze his "swimmers" before he died so she choose to use a sperm bank. She hadn't figured on Alex's best friend, Jack, finding out and giving her a totally different option.

Whilst Jack's attraction to Maddie had been simmering for a while, his idea was spur of the moment, shocking both him and Maddie. A proper mouth engages before brain is in gear moment, BOTH of them. But I loved that he followed it all through. He promised Alex he would look after Maddie, and Jack never had a promise he wanted to keep like this one.

I loved that Jack continued to surprise Maddie throughout the book. She thought she knew him, but didn't really.

I loved the way it crept up on them both, the feelings, neither of them planned to fall in love, but they fell and fell hard.

Is this New Adult?? I dunno. Its certainly NOT erotica or young adult, but a very VERY happy middle of the road. Comtemporary?? Again, dunno. Its steamy in places, but not at all explicit and this is why I question its genre. The lines on the differences blur a little for me, on books such as this, where its doesn't fit onto just one shelf.

When I started writing this review, I wrote 4.5 stars at the top of the page. (Yes, I WRITE them by hand before typing them up, but thats besides the point!) Now I'm actually towards the end of my review, I can't think of a single thing as to why I need to knock that half point off.

So, 5 full stars.

Direct Deposit is a fun and quick read. My first book from author Marilyn Baxter and she did not disappoint. The story starts out a little slow at first, but once the momentum of the story got going it was hard to put down. Both Jack and Maddie are strong characters, who butt heads when things got rough. Both knowing what they want or though they want, they usually end up in arguments.

 photo DirectDeposit-Teaser.jpg

Before Maddie’s husband Alex died, he made Jack his best friend promise to take care of his wife Maddie. Jack took that promise to the heart and made sure to always stay connected with Maddie, even if it meant having monthly dinners together. But when Maddie opened her mouth and shared with Jack about having a baby and using a sperm donor to make it happen, Jack put his foot down and offered himself instead. Until it went further and they got married out of convenience. They both know theiy are only married for convenience and not for love, they accepted not to ever fall with each other. But when their time spent together and their sex that turned into an every night affair, becomes so much more.. will they let everything fall into place? Or will they run scared and separate afraid of being hurt again? Read and find out.

Jack was known as a ladies man and never a commitment kind of guy, but being with Maddie made him something else. Jack was nothing but sweet with Maddie, he never treated her with anything but respect and love. I enjoyed this story and the sweet love and a little heat it gave. Great book. =)

4 Stars!!

Maddie has lost her husband due to cancer. One thing that they didn't plan for was her wanting a baby. So she decides to look into a sperm bank to make her dream become a reality. However, Maddie's late husband's best friend, Jack, offers his help. Jack made a promise to his dying friend that he would take care of Maddie. What he didn't plan was falling in love with her.

Jack and Maddie were cute together. Their relationship did not start the way a normal relationship would. In fact, everything was backwards, but it worked for them. Little by little they became more than a contract. When they both admitted that their feelings were changing, and they had fallen in love, I was a little surprised about that. I felt that the story could have gone a little more into detail with that process, but I still was happy that their relationship ended up where it did. I loved the epilogue. It was really cute!

I enjoyed reading this story. It's different then what I have been reading, so it was a nice change. I also love when I come across new authors. Such as, Marilyn Baxter. I love adding new authors to the list of book's I've read! This was a cute light read with laughter, love, and a happily ever after!

I was lucky enough to be given a copy of Direct Deposit from the author. I have enjoyed Marilyn Baxter's other books and was excited to read Direct Deposit.

I really enjoyed Direct Deposit. It was a fun, fast, sweet and sexy read. Both Maddie and Jack are such strong characters. Honestly Maddie and Jack seemed so opposite from one another at the beginning of the book. It was almost like they couldn't stand to be around one another, except I could feel the underlying attraction between them when they were in the same room together. I loved that when Jack figured out Maddie was going to a sperm bank to get pregnant, his first thought was to offer to be her sperm donor. I also loved the fact he immediately offered marriage when another wrench was thrown in Maddie's path.

I loved Maddie and Jack as a couple. Again while they seemed so different, I felt a connection between them from the beginning. Add in their smoking hot chemistry and you have a great couple. Plus the more time they spent together, the easier it was to tell they each loved one another. I loved their friends were the ones to see both had fallen for the other first.

Marilyn Baxter writes sweet, sexy stories with heart. Direct Deposit stole my heart from the very beginning and I look forward to reading many more books from Ms. Baxter in the future.

Direct Deposit - Contemporary Romance Winner

Set in Atlanta, Georgia this contemporary romance scores in my book. The main characters, Jack & Maddie are perfect for each other, and watching them navigate through their story lifted my heart.

Child Advocate attorney Maddie has made her mind up it’s time to have a baby. Jack wants to honor a promise he made to her deceased husband to take care of her. What they both find along the way is the promise of a romance destined to last a lifetime. Watching them deal with each of their own past mistakes, and haunted childhoods, provides plenty of conflict.

Baxter wove together the threads of a tale full of hope, and real-life conundrums. Her secondary characters took on lives of their own, and I especially loved Millie, the stern but motherly office manager who keeps Jack Worth on-track. I enjoyed reading how Jack and Maddie kept getting in their own way, how they learned to love each other, and how they forged through to find their heart’s desire.

The epilogue was worth the price of admission.

Direct Deposit is a winner. I’m looking forward to reading more from Marilyn Baxter.

I received this book in exchange for my honest review.

This is the first book I have read by Marilyn Baxter. I really enjoyed how Maddie felt like she did not need anyone to help accomplish her goals. After her husband died she made sure to stay busy with her law firm. But she also felt the need to become a mother. She was planning on visiting a clinic to help with the process that is until Jack finds out. Jack Worth was a business partner to Maddie's late husband and had always promised to take care of her. He would visit Maddie once a month for a meal and they would talk and catch up. Jack saw the information and decided it was best if he was the one to help Maddie. He convinces Maddie this is a good idea, but then another Maddie realizes she may lose something important unless she gets married. This is a great romance story. I loved Millie, Jack's secretary. I would recommend this book.

This books was so sweet. A good old fashioned RomCom in book form. It was refreshing to read a book without angst. I loved the sweetness of a romance without car crashes and stalker ex boyfriends.

She is a widower who desperately wants a baby, he is her dead husbands best friend and swore to take care of her. Let the games begin...

Jack was awesome and strong and sweet, Maddie was so determined and loving. I was so excited to see how they would fit together.

I loved it when they finally dropped their grieving widow/friend flags and got to actually know each other. They were both funny and independent people it was fun to see them try to let their walls down and let the other in. But once they did the sweetest love story begins. The epilogue made my heart happy :)

I really enjoyed this story. If your looking for a heart warming romance with a HEA at the end look no further. Direct Deposit was sweet & sexy.

This was such a sweet romance. Maddie Prescott is a successful lawyer and is trying to move on with her life after the death of her husband Alex. Maddie would like to have a child and begins to look into the possibility of making that dream come true. Jack Worth is Alex’s friend and made a promise to him that Jack would take care of Maddie. Jack tries to discourage Maddie from the idea of children but eventually volunteers to be her sperm donor. Only Jack wants to do this the old fashioned way. Even offering to marry Maddie to help her achieve her goal and to keep his promise to Alex. They both agree to this arrangement but eventually their hearts get involved and they both struggle with guilt over Alex and being honest with each other over their feelings. I loved this story and thought it was just the sweetest romance I have read.

After loosing her husband following a long illness and then a year of morning him, Maddie is ready to move on with her life and wants nothing more than to have a baby to love; however having grown up as a pawn for her divorced parents to fight over, she has no interest in dealing with a man so a sperm bank it is.

As the best friend and business partner to Maddie's husband, Jack had promised to take care of her after his passing. Now Jack finds himself offering to help her in a different way when she finds out that because of her job as a child advocate using "the bank" isn't an option.

I found this book to be a refreshing change from what I have been reading recently. It is sweet, romantic, and fun but with a touch of spice. I really enjoyed reading this one.

I loved this story it is about promises made and new life beginning. Maddie is tough as nails watches her husband pass away and is now moving on with her life. All she wants is a baby, however she needs to use a sperm bank. Unfortunately things get changed around at her job and it might have to wait, until Jack decides to keep a promise and decides to step in.
This is a story of two people who are bound together through one person who is no longer here and they make decisions based on surviving and promises. They have many issues and feelings to deal with but they can deal with this together, to make it work.

My first taste of Marilyn Baxter, and what a great new author I've found!

This story was beautiful, touching, and sexy. I hate spoilers, but I'll say this much: Maddie (the star of the show) lost her husband. He requests best friend Jack to look after her, which Jack does. This book is not just about a woman wanting a baby, but of her own loss and struggle with finding love again. It tore my soul apart, but in a good way. I loved Maddie from start to end, and after learning about Jack's troubled background, he really grew on me, too. This was a love story.

Maddie was blessed with a guardian angel that was sent by Alex her late husband from his death bed. Jake not only kept a promise but he went above and beyond. He not only kept Maddie amongst the living be he also secured her job and helped her love and believe again.

This was a light romantic comedy that illustrated how we are bigger than our past and with the right intention one can become two and eventually a loving family.

I really enjoyed this marriage of convenience romance! It's full of laughs, hope, romance and passion. I loved Jack from the start, and I slowly warmed up to Maddie. Both Tess and Millie were great supporting characters and the epilogue was great!

this was the author's first book. She had written many many magazine articles so had mastered the craft of writing. The story is fresh and original. She got a nice blurb from Linda Howard! I would encourage you to buy and read this book, she did a fine job. A different kind of romance!
