After the disastrous business trip that ended her mortal life, all Claire wants to do is get her freakish talents and blood-lust (and let's be honest, regular ol' lust too) under control, so that she can be a good mom, hide her fangs and maybe try to coax her stripper-turned-nanny into wearing some actual clothes that won't make the local biddies fire up the gossip chain.
Thanks to her Vampire Disability Fund, Claire just might get the boring life of her dreams after all. So what if two brothers (one hot, one decidedly jerkish) have moved into the only other house in her remote neck of the woods? And so what if she hasn't heard a peep out of her maker Bette or the other two members of The Triad? No news is good news, right?
Born in the Deep South and raised right over the Mason Dixon line, Alex grew up feeling unsure where she belonged. That is, until she met up with a traveling Freak Show one fine day. Now she celebrates the unusual and appreciates how interesting life can be when you (ahem) open yourself to unique situations.
Residing in coastal Virginia, Alex spends her days wrangling words and children, and on occasion a sassy cat (or three), a bull-headed Labrador, or her old, cantankerous horse. Her husband has figured out that toeing the line is easiest in the long run. He’s a smart man.
I read this book a while ago, but never got a review posted because I'm disorganized. I LOVE this book and the sequel BITE ME. Owens is a talented writer, and the entire package - cover, editing, writing - is perfect. I recommend all of her books for lovers of the supernatural.
Great book. I enjoy the direction of this series and how the characters are being developed. Clairemont is trying to balance her vamp life and being a mom. Now, Clive is coming into a new light and Cassia has just arrived with news as to what Clairemont really is.....
