The Rise of Alastair

Rate this book
This prequel to the Falling Night Series takes place nearly 1100 years before the main story.

After suffering the loss of both parents at a young age, Alastair had the kingdom of Aragon thrust upon him much earlier than expected. While he relies on the light and trusted advisors as a young king, all the forces of evil seem combined against him. From the demon responsible for his parent’s assassination, to foreign adversaries and other unimaginable evils that await him, Alastair is able to rise above the fray.

This is in large part due to the strength and resolve he draws from his young wife and family. It is not until the love of his life and their small children are threatened, that Alastair’s convictions will be tested. Only time will tell if he can avoid becoming tainted in the process.

This book started out intense from the beginning. It really grabbed you. I fell in love with Alastair’s story. You are rooting for him throughout the entire book. Knowing how the series ends and knowing that Alastair becomes this huge villain looms over you the entire time. His goodness and kindness makes him such a great character. And the story between him and Camille were my favorite parts. Their love story is beautiful. What ends up making Alastair turn is so heartbreaking. Makes me want to reread the series again! Loved it.
