With the bills piling up and Garth's dad unable to work due to his health, it seems serendipitous when he finds a job at D3, the Supernatural Mall. He doesn't know much about games or comics, but it's a job so he takes it. Once he begins working at Nerdle's Realm of Games, he realizes that he has found somewhere to belong and he doesn't want to lose that. So, when he hears the owners may be selling the mall, he hatches a plan to save the mall and the livelihoods of all the shop owners.
Garth is a very responsible young man. He has foregone university in order to be there for his dad. He even hates that he needs a job because he's worried he might not be there when his dad needs him. But once he starts working with Derrik and meets all the other shop owners and workers, he realizes he has been missing out on other relationships. He is a determined and hard-working young man. Everyone he meets at D3 offers something unique to the story. There are several different types of supernaturals and there is even an appearance by someone from another series in this world.
This was such a fun and cozy read. It is definitely low stakes but still keeps you engaged throughout the story. Found family is one of my favorite tropes and this book delivers that trope beautifully. I enjoyed the relationship building and the evolution of Garth's dad's attitude as well. There were some funny moments and one small "disaster". It was a quick and easy read, and I enjoyed it so much I finished it in a day. It was fun to get back into the same world as her other books (which I need to get to quite a few yet!). I look forward to reading more about D3 and this world. I especially can't wait to find out what secrets the Mall holds.

What a fabulous start to a new series by this author. I love that there are multiple series set within the same universe, with the occasional overlap (spoilers, sweetie 😉).

Oh this book has it all, humour, real life what it is like to be poor and need a job, to have a relative whose not well and the bus ride to work. Then there is the found family and friends who make everything worth living and help a boy who lost his mum, gave up his dreams of uni to look after a sick father to become something and someone worth knowing.
I am not going to give away the plot, but this is a beautiful, happy story, well worth reading and fun to read. The people all come to life. Derrick, who clearly pines for Cole, Rock the dwarf, Orla, Garth whose the token human but the centre of the story and even a mall that is alive. I love it. It made me smile and care about each and every person who works there. I can't wait for the sequel! Gemma Clatworthy never lets you down with her wonderful stories.

Joy of joys…a new series with a somewhat bumbling and naive but genuinely sweet MC who is finding his confidence along with finding his place among a mix of fascinating characters.
Although never heavy-handed, the story does address chronic illness, caregiver guilt, financial strains and prejudice.
Also included are witty puns, diverse characters and experiencing the satisfaction of overcoming obstacles.
As with the author’s other stories, the narrative is relationship-driven with the perfect balance of action and intrigue to keep one reading just one more chapter and then another chapter….

A funtastic beginning in the new Supernatural Mall series by G. Clatworthy.I absolutely love this book. I couldn't stop reading it! It grabbed me right from the first page and didn't let go til the end. The characters were all well written and enthusiastic. And the MMC had so much depth, I felt like I had always known him There was adventure, found family, trickery, and lots of magic. Ms. Clatworthy's world building was blended so beautifully, brilliantly and magically throughout this story. This is an incredible book that I highly recommend for almost all ages.

This was a great star to a new series. Filled with endearing characters and community spirit, Supernatural Mall is a good book that you won't want to put down.
When Garth needs extra money, he finds himself working in a comic shop in said Mall.
As usual, G Clatworthy mixes humour and heart nicely, creating characters you are invested in and a location that's is magical and fantastic, yet sits well in the real world.
I'm already looking forward to the next one!

Headed into this book after reading the Vampire Graduate Scheme series and it seems like it’s set in the same world. While I’d have liked to continue reading it, it’s great to see that there’s some representation of the Little Folk in a world where everything has been turned on its head. I’ve never been a big celebrator of Halloween, but this new series makes me want to. If you get a chance to read it - do it! Pick up the book!

This is a fun, easy read set in the same universe as one of the authors other series ( minor character crossover so far). As usual for this author, she has created in interesting characters that develop and grow as the story goes on. This was a very enjoyable read and I can’t wait for the next book.

light hearted, fun story
I enjoyed reading this whimsical tale of a young man trying to save his father and the supernatural mall. The ending sets up for future adventures.

An enjoyable, warm story told in the Cardiff we all came to know and love with Amethyst. Well worth a read ,and roll on the next book!

Loved the story

I really enjoyed this book--it was really fun and I liked the characters.

Great story. You fall in love with the characters straight away and can't help but root for them.
