Too Sweet

Rate this book
Chelsi Vitale was raised to kill monsters, not crave them.

Senior year of college is her final shot at a normal life before returning to the family business of monster hunting. And her new neighbor might just be exactly what she’s been hungry for. Nic is everything she thought was out of bounds for her, but that doesn’t stop the all-consuming fire of their chemistry.

What starts as a casual fling quickly spirals into an intense, fiery connection that defies every rule Chelsi was taught to live by. Even her free-spirited best friend begins to worry when Chelsi and Nic’s relationship evolves past their heated fast burn.

Then a cryptic warning changes everything: someone is coming for Nic’s soul. At least, that’s Chelsi’s theory. A theory she feels in her gut, which has never been wrong. To save the man she’s fallen helplessly in love with, she breaks more of her family’s rules to establish an unconventional band of paranormals, hunters, and witches.

As secrets unravel, Chelsi realizes the biggest threat isn't the monsters she's sworn to kill, but a power hidden deep in her own blood. A power kept secret through lies and murder. Unearthing this truth might be the only way to save Nic’s soul...if it doesn't destroy her first.

3.5⭐️ Chelsi and Nic have an instant connection right from the beginning and it is a steamy fast burn! The book showed the power of acceptance and following your gut to do what you feel is right, which is an interesting element added to a paranormal world where hunters are always expected to kill monsters. The friendship between Chelsi and her friends is really fun to read, especially seeing the personalities between all of the characters. I really liked the addition of a cryptic threat of danger and the surprises that came after it as Chelsi and Nic try to figure out what is happening!

I absolutely adored everything about this book. First of all, I highly recommend this book if you loved the shows Supernatural and/or Buffy the Vampire Slayer. The author uses both of these shows for inspiration, and she does it phenomenally. Also, the romance between the main characters was absolutely breathtaking. Their bond develops throughout the story, and it is beautiful to see. The main storyline was written beautifully as well. I will definitely be reading more from this author!

3.5 rounded up

Nic and Chelsi are such fun characters with an instant connection that you can just feel through the pages. They find out that they are on totally opposite sides of the paranormal, but that doesn't stop them or slow down their quick burn! How very Buffy the Vampire Slayer of them!

I really enjoyed reading this and figuring out (or attempting to) the twists and turns that coming at me. Now fingers crossed that we get to come back to this world sometime!

Loved every second of this.

This book follows Chelsi, a paranormal hunter, as she tries to navigate life when she meets Nic. Nic holds a secret, and Chelsi is forbidden to be with him due to his family business. A deep love starts to form.

If you enjoy Supernatural, you’ll enjoy this one.

I really loved the characters and the setting of this book, and the overall story. It was a fun vibes read and I wish the author had taken a little more time with some details since some scenes felt a little rushed.

This was such an amazing paranormal romance.
Nic amd Chlesi are on the very opposite of the spectrum when it comes to the paranormal but that definitely doesnt deter them.

There are so many quirky little moments in this book that I dont want to mention so it doesn't ruin the surprise but they all brough to much to the story.

The story pulled me in and had me absolutely hooked from the very first page. There are so many different twists and turns throughout the story and I was kept guessing the whole way through.

I adored all of the side characters were were introduced to and they made the story that much more enjoyable.

This was another amazing story from this author that was engaging and fast paced with a host of likeable characters that will have you totally emersed in the book.

This wasn't my first book from the author and I think if I had read this first I might have liked it more (I adored her other books). I'm rounding up my rating to 3 stars because of the things I liked but I will say that I had a rough time getting through most of this plot. I almost DNFed because everything felt too rushed and I wasn't a fan of the dynamic between Chelsi and Nic until later on in the story. I honestly could NOT trust Nic and felt that what he felt for Chelsi wasn't genuine. But since we only got Chelsi's POV she was too lost in her own obsession with him to notice. Regardless, I did end up finishing and found myself liking the story overall, but it underwhelmed me. I wanted more details, less unrealistic obsession, and a smoother flow of the plot.

Thank you to the author for giving me an ARC. All thoughts and opinions are my own and offered voluntarily.
