The Politically Incorrect Jesus: Living Boldly in a Culture of Unbelief

Rate this book
Jesus. He is admired and ridiculed, embraced and rejected. If you want to provoke controversy and emotional discussion, just mention His name. Jesus was inclusive when He welcomed all the weary and burdened to come to Him and experience the love of His Father. But He was not open-minded when it came to the truth. He stated that He was the truth. And this flies in the face of current politically correct thought. In Politically Incorrect Jesus, Joe Battaglia exposes the intellectual dishonesty of political correctness and presents Jesus as the model for embracing a counter-cultural faith, which empowers us to be salt and light. Be bold and stand firm in your faith when the culture demands you stand down.

Warning: You will need your highlighter while reading this book of political wisdom. What has happened in the American political arena is we now have them vs. us mentality. It is actually politically driven to pit the masses against each other. It keeps their agendas alive and unfortunately we Christians have taken the bait. The most important thing we can do is find the common ground and keep it.

One example is abortion. Those for pro-choice do not agree to killing babies and would like to avoid having abortions and that is the common ground we must build on. In fighting the culture war, leave Jesus out of it. And leave His words out of it too. Otherwise, those who might really see Jesus in you will get confused about the gospel when you raise the flag or any cause higher than the cross. (Kindle 234).

Another tactic is on the Political Correct is the redefinition of the American Language. In doing so, they breed hypocrisy and fear. With the new redefinition, also came no disagreements and no coming to the table. However, what has happened with no disagreements and discourse we are becoming a closed society. Totalitarianism is born and a disparity between classes of people widens.

The political kingdom vs Christ’s kingdom insight is perceptive and helps the reader to see the danger of a political driven kingdom and the hope of Christ kingdom. Reminding us of absolute truth and the strength we as citizens of the kingdom of God can rest on.

A very well written and engaging study on how politically incorrect Jesus was and continues to be.

A special thank you to

There are so many reflective thoughts gifted to us for contemplation by the author that causes nothing else but realize that our worship and role as Christians in this world of compromised values and beliefs is to turn our world completely upside down. It is not based on avoiding the obvious for the sake of adhering to the beliefs of society, or our culture, not based upon a religion or a discourse centered on passing judgement, but to rely on the the teachings and life of Jesus Christ who demonstrated a passion for people, and a complete disregard for sin. There comes no other way of salvation but through him.

Joe Battaglia's writing reminds me of C S Lewis' Mere Christianity in that his book is a great look at the Christian life in contrast to the worlds' point of view for 2015. Rather than a look of despair it provides insightful thoughts and commentary with a biblical point of view.

If you are frustrated with the secular world, nasty politics, and entitlement this as a great read and would make an excellent small group study (study guide download on the book's website).

The world may view Jesus as being politically incorrect, but guess what, God isn't the one who changed . . .

I enjoyed this book more than I thought I would, after overcoming the feeling of wanting to throw it across the room. I borrowed it, though, so I (a) couldn't throw it, and (b) felt somewhat obligated to finish it. I'm grateful that I continued, as it answered a question that has arisen from several different friends in recent days—a question which I had previously felt completely unequipped to answer but on which I now have some clarity.

Horrendous right-wing propaganda masquerading as Biblical. Author basically calls America Marxist, cities Godless, and rejects the separation of church & state.
By chapter two I saw red flags. By chapter four I knew there were big problems. BEWARE.

Also, there seems to have been no editor, as there were grammatical mistakes!

This was a very short book, the audiobook was only 3 hours long. Still, it just didn't keep my attention. As one reviewer pointed out, the title is rather deceptive. He only rarely talked about the politically incorrectness of Jesus, although I'm sure he could have filled the book with examples.
There were a couple times when he was reading scripture, where he left out critical words that entirely changed the meaning of the verse. This was not intentional because as he read it, it didn't fit in with the context of the book. Sorry! I didn't write these down as I heard them and can't remember the verses. It just seemed sloppy work on the part of the editors.

I took many "yes, yes, well said" notes while reading this book. I haven't scribbled that much while reading in quite a while. There was just the right mix of humor, heart, and eye-opening honesty. Most of all it was full of truth. Truth is not always easy, sometimes it's downright painful when the shades are lifted and it is revealed, but these words were thought-provoking and well-stated. I look forward to reading more from the author.

Not what I was expecting. Most chapters had very little to do with Jesus being politically incorrect. The author tried to related every point he was making to politically incorrectness, and it was mostly a stretch.

What an incredible book! The author does a great job of show how important as followers of Christ we are called to stand out and not be the PC Police of America. This is an attention grabbing book.

In the eyes of this world Jesus went against the rules. Man can think his rules are for the betterment of man but what it really does is binds and holds him down. Only Jesus can set man free!

Jesus was anti-PC are you?

Joe did not mince words about Jesus and the way we should be bucking the PC police of today. I liked how he challenges the reader to look a his \ her own life and decide whether the want to be PC or want to follow Christ. Joe also is blunt in telling the reader that being good will not get you into heaven.
