Vengeful Vows by Ellie Hallaron is a gripping dark romance that pulls you into the gritty world of the Syndicate and the Bratva. As the third installment in the Syndicate Series, it delivers on the high stakes, intense chemistry, and complex characters I’ve come to expect from this author.
The story follows Dominic Montclair, a hardened Syndicate leader who has sworn off marriage and romance to focus entirely on his family’s criminal empire. When a war with the Boston Bratva threatens everything he’s built, he makes the ultimate sacrifice: a marriage alliance. Enter Katerina Sokolov, the "Bratva Princess." While she appears meek and perfect on the outside, she is secretly a fierce survivor plotting revenge against her abusive father, Viktor. What starts as a cold, "business-only" arrangement quickly spirals into a possessive and passionate battle of wills.
The Dynamics: The "enemies-to-lovers" and "forced marriage" tropes are executed perfectly here. Dominic and Katerina have incredible friction—their initial mutual disgust makes the eventual payoff so much sweeter.
Katerina’s Growth: Watching Katerina transform from a woman trapped in a "gilded cage" to the "Queen of the Syndicate" was the highlight of the book. She isn’t just a damsel in distress; she is a fighter who earns her place by Dominic’s side.
Why Not 5 Stars? While the pacing is generally fast, there were a few moments in the middle where the "we can’t be together" angst felt a bit repetitive. Additionally, Dominic’s initial coldness toward Katerina was almost too effective—it took a while for me to fully warm up to him again after some of his harsher moments.
If you love dark mafia romances with "touch her and die" energy, a strong-willed heroine, and plenty of steam, Vengeful Vows is a must-read. Ellie Hallaron has created a satisfyingly "insane" romance that kept me turning pages until the very end.

4.25⭐️. Thanks to Ellie for allowing me to ARC read for you! My favorite so far in the series! Our FMC, Katya, daughter of the enemy, starts her journey locked in a cage but it’s the MMC, Dom, leader of the Syndicate, who sets her free even if it is in unconventional circumstances. Now with her able to spread her wings, she’s able to fly and be who she was always meant to be which is a kickass Queen for a Syndicate King.

I was sent this arc for an honest review
I really enjoyed Dom arrange marriage with the mafia princess. I hated her father. The way he treated her and her mother. The world building in this story is so intense. I couldn’t put this book down I read it in 3 days. I can’t wait to next brother story. This is a must read series.

This is a great Mafia story, I absolutely enjoyed reading this book.
We have Dominic who is the Dom of the Syndicate who is trying to get back in peace with the Russian Bratva. His best solution is to offer a Marriage between him and anybody the Pakhan is choosing.
Unless Dominic, Victor has no love or protective instincts about his family and is eager to agree by marrying off his only daughter.
Dominic was not impressed with Katerina, due to her behavior and clothes, which have been drilled in by her father. He makes it very clear that this marriage is only for convenience and that each one of them will life a separate life. Victor however has plans on using her as spy and wants her help in taking down the Syndicate.
As very often Mafia men underestimate females. Katarina appears weak, with no power, however she showed her husband pretty fast by stabbing him in the leg. Slowly she is planning her revenge, because no one knows the hate she has for her father and it is surprising for everyone. She is a very strong FMC, for my personal taste she was the reason why this book did not received 5 stars from me, because her gained strength was to fast. Dominic for me was just amazing, the things he reached her, showed her what family means and encouraged and was the first person ever believing in her.
Spice in this book is a solid 3🌶️🌶️🌶️

This is the third book in the series, and without question, my favorite of the three!!!
Katerina completely stole my heart. She is strong, fierce, quiet, and deeply observant. She has endured abuse and trauma, and watching her slowly come out of her shell was powerful and honestly beautiful. Her growth felt earned, not rushed, and her strength never needed to be loud to be felt.
Dom, the older brother who never believed love was meant for him. Katerina breaks through his walls in a way that feels natural and believable. Their connection builds steadily, and the emotional payoff is so worth it.
One thing I really appreciated in this book was the balance. In the first two books, the nicknames between couples felt a bit overdone to me, but here it was the perfect amount. Their banter was natural, and genuinely enjoyable, which made their relationship feel grounded despite the darker themes. Keep her away from knives! 🤣
The resolution involving Katerina’s abusive father was satisfying. It felt like justice without being over the top.
This book does include trigger warnings, so readers should be mindful going in.

Dominic Montclair, the head of The Syndicate, is perfectly content being alone. He’s too busy with running the family business to be bogged down with nonsense.
Katarina Sokolov is the Bratva princess, her father keeps her locked away, keeping her pure until he can give her to the highest bidder.
Because of his brother’s mistakes, Dominic is forced to enter into an arranged marriage to prevent war with the Bratva. To the Bratva princess! He will never know the same life again!
If you’ve read the first two books in this series, you’ll appreciate, and be excited for, watching Dominic’s emotions come full circle (mostly frustration and annoyance, but hey, they are emotions)! Katarina is an absolute badass that keeps him on his toes by any means necessary, drives him absolutely insane, all while his family chuckles silently-waiting for him to crumble. The witty banter brings me to the edge of my seat every time!!

When I tell you I read this in a day I mean it! I have been fortunate enough to read 2 of Ellie’s books as an ARC now. I am so excited for the next one as well!
This book was what I was looking for! I have been trying to find a mafia book with an arranged/fake marriage with tension and boy was this it! I think this one has been my favorite so far, plot and characters wise. I really like the FMC she’s a badass who knows how to put that man in his place and I was eating it up!
Tension and banter are great and so is yearning and desire ofc!

Okay, so if you’re even thinking about dipping your toes into mafia romance, this series is honestly the perfect place to start. It eases you into the darker elements instead of throwing you in headfirst. It’s fast-paced and a quick read — which is exactly what I look for, for a palate cleanser between other genres.
Dom is 100% the intimidating mafia boss who commands every room he walks into… but when his cinnamon roll side starts showing? Swoon. The running/training scene had me actually giggling.
Katya though… I love an underestimated FMC, especially when she turns out to be a total badass. Her wit mixed with her “I don’t take crap from anyone” energy was a vibe. Watching her prove everyone wrong was so satisfying.
Viktor, however… can absolutely burn. I cannot stand that man.
And Bash?! Excuse me??? I need his book immediately. Like, yesterday. I’m already desperate to know everything about him and I can’t wait to continue this series.

Unlike the other 2 books in the series these two are evenly matched rather than ying and Yang and I loved that! The clashes between them just add to the tension and the game of chicken 🤣

This is my favorite of the series so far!! Dominic and Katarina are a force to be reckoned with. He’s grumpy and doesn’t believe he needs anyone, especially a woman. Their marriage is just a means to an end. But oh how I loved watching Katarina come into her own and stand up to a man that others never dared to. I even found her boldness quite funny at times. I would absolutely recommend this book. I can’t wait for the fourth book to come out. Kudos to Ellie Halperin for writing such a great series with great main characters and great side characters as well. PS please tell me Nic finds a special someone.

I loved this book! Dare I say it was my favorite of the series?
I love a strong FMC that’s not afraid to stand up for herself. Katerina was 100% girl power. i also loved seeing Dominic’s personality flourish, as he was previously so calm and cold. The only downside to ARC reading this is that I have to wait for Bashes book 😭

This is my honest review of this book! I absolutely loved this book. I could not put it down! I devoured this book so fast because it was so good. It kept me on the edge of my seat!!! It has an arranged marriage, over protective husband, and the mafia! Plus, a few stabbings. If you love dark mafia romance just as much as I do: you need to read this book! I can promise you that you will love it! He married a doll, but fell in love with a tiger! Do yourself a favor, and read this book!!!

Something about when the MMC get turned on from how fiery the FMC can be always has me giggling & kicking my feet like I love that. Like lowkey he's a softy for her but also touch my WIFE & I'll unalive you energy AHHH love it. The banter was so fun it has me wanting to keep reading I literally read it all in one sitting because I didn't want to stop reading. Also my favorite moment "go shopping..." what's my budget?" "There isn't one. The card doesn't have a limit." 😱 I was literally squealing how I wish that was me fr. I could literally yap more about this book but honestly don't want to spoil or anything because I feel like going in blind how I did for this made it fun! They mention back the characters from the previous two books but this definitely can be read alone, but it is nice to see & hear about the previous characters if you liked them as well & read those books~ also I enjoy when an FMC is a baddie & not some weak princess waiting for someone to save her type person 🙂↕️ OH! & the spicy scenes omg.. 🥵 I feel so attached to this couple now I literally read this in one sitting because I kept wanting to know what will happen next between the two & where this story was going! Another fantastic mafia masterpiece by Ellie Hallaron. Vengeful Vows is book three of the Syndicate series and has become one of my favorite Mafia reads. These books are full of men who are dark, possessive, powerful and dangerous but know just how to turn up the heat. They definitely aren’t afraid to prove their worth and loyalty. And how they love with everything they are. Dominic is definitely my favorite. The way his fierceness drove him to utterly protect his wife is something so right… so masculine.
I enjoyed the relationship development between the quiet doll who became a sassy yet fiery FMC and the dominant, protective, and possessive MMC, both find themselves out of their depths as circumstances and unexpected feelings change their lives.
I highly recommend this book to those who like their mafia romance reads with a good splash of humor, sass, and spice. Now where can I find my own Dominic...

This was my first time reading this author, and it definitely won’t be my last. I ended up buying Book 1 and Book 2 just so I could read Book 3, and I’m so glad I did because once I started, I couldn’t put it down. I loved that the author brought back characters from the previous books, it was really satisfying to see what happened to them and how their stories continued. If you’re a fan of mafia romances, this book is absolutely for you. Dominic marries to keep the peace, while Katarina is forced into the marriage. She comes across as timid and rule-following at first, but don’t be fooled, she’s the complete opposite, and that twist makes her character so compelling. This book has everything I love in a mafia romance and kept me hooked from beginning to end.

This was an excellent arranged-marriage mafia romance with strong enemies-to-lovers tension. Katerina’s journey from controlled Bratva princess to finding her voice was incredibly satisfying, and Dominic was cold, calculating, and magnetic in all the right ways.
The power dynamics, banter, and slow emotional shift between them were done so well. I loved watching their relationship evolve from obligation to something much deeper and more dangerous. The story was gripping, emotional, comical, and left me completely invested.
Highly recommend for readers who love mafia romance with strong character growth and intense chemistry.

Have you ever read something so bad that it end up being funny ? Because that’s exactly what that book ended up being for me 😭
Unfortunately everything was bad, the characters, the storyline, how the MMC kept talking about women, even the writing wasn’t that good. I finished it by sheer will but not because I enjoyed it, it all just seemed like such a big joke that I wanted to see if the author could save it.
Unfortunately no salvation was found here, just a bad Wattpad-like story that should have stayed on Wattpad. Thanks for the good laugh, not so much for the lost time.
