Doctor Reagan Rosner loves her fast-paced life of practicing medicine in New York City’s busiest trauma center. Kind and confident, she’s taking her profession by storm—until a young girl’s accidental death leaves her shaken to her core. With her life a mess and her future uncertain, Reagan accepts a position as Head Physician for The Appalachia Project, an outreach program working with some of America’s poorest citizens.

Shane Harper, Ethan Cooke Security’s newest team member, has been assigned a three-month stint deep in the mountains of Eastern Kentucky, and he’s not too happy about it. Guarding a pill safe in the middle of nowhere is boring as hell, but when he gets a look at his new roommate, the gorgeous Doctor Rosner, things start looking up.

Shane and Reagan encounter more than a few mishaps as they struggle to gain the trust of a reluctant community. They’re just starting to make headway when a man’s routine checkup exposes troubling secrets the town will do anything to keep hidden—even if that means murder.

https://www.goodreads.com/review/list..., oh man, I read a lot of romantic suspense and Cate Beauman has to be up there with the best of them. Right off the bat, Cate has me teary eyed, with throat tightening emotions threatening to burst forth, when Reagan deals with a terrible loss in the Emergency Room.

That is how she ends up in the back woods of Black Bear Gap, a coal mining town in Kentucky, working as a doctor for The Appalachian Project. And…of course we must have security. Enter, Shane, a newbie at Ethan Cooke Security, there to protect her.

I love Cate Beauman’s characters, who often make cameo appearances in other’s stories, and I knew I would love Reagan and her friends too. I so look forward to seeing how she overcomes her hardships, meets the hunky guy who will fall in love with her and risk his life to protect her, and how she survives the danger that I am sure is coming her way.

Suspicion, prejudice, and oh so much more are standing in the way of Reagan being able to help the people with their medical needs. When Henry makes his evil entrance, it takes them a while, with the help of the Bodyguards in L A, to figure out what’s really going on.

I love that it takes place in the hills and it reads as if it could, would, or has been true. Innocent, hard working people are being treated wrong and someone comes in, risking everything, to make it right. Bullets fly, people die and I wonder where it will all end. Cate really got a lot of emotions going in me, because I feel this really did happen to workers in the mining industry and I see no reason why people are still crawling underground, digging out the last remnants of an obsolete form of energy…other than greed.

I love Reagan’s makeshift family and their storybook life, but when real life danger butts its ugly head in…my heart falls to my gut and I wonder where Cate is taking this. How could Shane…well…enter Chase…WTH Cate?????

Reagan’s Redemption is not your run of the mill romantic suspense novel…girl in trouble meets hunky guy, saves her, falls in love, rebuff each other, admit defeat, and, well, you know, they live happy ever after.

The mystery, suspense, and danger come in waves, at times like a tsunami, threatening to overwhelm me. I LOVE IT!!!!!

I voluntarily reviewed a free copy of Reagan’s Redemption by Cate Beauman.

I think I’ve shown the last couple of months that I love Cate Beauman’s The Bodyguards of L.A. County series. I started reading them in July 2016 and since then I’ve loved every single book in the series I’ve read. ‘Reagan’s Redemption’ is the eighth book in the series, and the eighth one I read.

In ‘Reagan’s Redemption’ we meet doctor Reagan Rosner. Reagan works in the ER of a New York hospital when one case changes her life. Desperate to forget and escape Reagan accepts a job at a position as Head Physician for The Appalachia Project, an outreach program working with some of America’s poorest citizens. There Reagan meets Shane Harper, a bodyguard at Ethan Cooke Security’s. Reagan is determined to keep Shane at a distance. All she wants to do is help the people who need her care. But soon Reagan finds out it isn’t as easy to help the people, and she really needs Shane’s help. And soon it seems something bad is happening at their new home.

Maybe it’s because I’m a nurse myself, but ‘Reagan’s Redemption’ is definitely one of my favorites in this series. Since Reagan is a doctor there’s some medical talk, and I just loved reading every single page of this book. Reagan is a character I could relate to from the very first page, and I loved reading about her journey and her determination to help the people she was responsible for. She was such a strong character, and I really admired her strength.

Shane was also very fun to get to know. He was just kind, and easy to love. Especially the way he cared for the new born baby Reagan helped deliver. He was just so sweet, and it really made for some heart melting moments. But above all else I loved the way he was taking care of Reagan, even though she didn’t really want the help.

There was also some great suspense in this book. I understood early on the way this book was going, but somehow it still kept me on my toes and I couldn’t put this book down. And I definitely didn’t like the people Reagan was supposed to care for. Reagan deserved much more kindness.

‘Reagan’s Redemption’ was another great read and I loved every minute of it.

Book 8 in the series and another great one. Reagan is a physician who loses a young patient and questions her judgement and her life. She ends up taking a position as the head physician of the Appalachian Project. Shane is sent by Ethan Cooke Security to ensure the safety of the doctor and her staff. Shane and Reagan encounter a lot of resistance from the people in the coal mining town and end up caretakers of young mother Jenny and her infant daughter Faith. Great storyline and definitely different than the other books.

Shane and Reagan

Reagan Rosner is a New York City doctor in need of a change when she signs up for the Appalachia Project providing health care for the poor residents of a small town in rural Kentucky. Shane Harris is a former US Marshall and newest addition to Ethan Cooke Security. He is the next person assigned for security duty in Kentucky and is not too excited. He and the beautiful doctor have a rough start but soon have their hands full with a difficult delivery of a baby girl and a scared 16 year old mother. Reagan and Shane take on parenting duties for the baby when the mother leaves suddenly. They also have their hands full when they are met with resistance to any help from the doctor. When the doctor makes a little head way and diagnoses a resident with black lung she is met with resistance from fellow doctors in the area and threats. This book is emotional and suspense filled. It has I’ll informed residents, poor people just trying to provide for their family, a coal mine with too many sick workers diagnosed with allergies and bronchitis, a cute ambitious teen mother finding her way, some hot steamy scenes and two people who have a connection but one is fighting it.

5+ stars. Reagan leaves her post as a doctor in New York and signs up for the Appalachia Project after tragically losing a young patient. Being a doctor in of the poorest areas of the country she is eyed with suspicion and finds it difficult to connect with the people she has come to help. Shane is sent by Ethan Cooke security to protect the drugs the clinic has stored and also the doctor. The two become firm friends as well as having a strong attraction to each other. When Reagan diagnosis a patient with an industrial disease she is thwarted at every turn to prove it and runs into a conspiracy to cover up and block her findings. All this ultimately puts her in danger and Shane steps in to protect the woman he is growing to love. Another fantastic read in this series with great characters and a good level of suspense. Highly recommended read.

I think this might be my most favorite of the Bodyguard Books so far. I thought I knew who was behind incidents and then I was sort of surprised as I kept changing my mind. Reagan and Shane, Chase and Jenny are well developed and seriously fun characters. I wanted more of their stories.... the dialogue between these week-written and believable characters is excellent. Kudos!

This installment of the Bodyguards books might have been my least favorite. The suspense part was lacking in my opinion. There wasn't enough action until the end. There weren't any "edge of my seat" moments. The big reveal at the end was not very climatic.

The romance between Shane and Reagan was played very well however. I liked how they had a slow burn and it was sexy to read.

On to part 9!

Disappointed

Stereotyping is about 50 years outdated. The author seems to have gotten her research of Appalachian people and culture from watching reruns of The Beverly Hillbillies. Would have given 5 stars for the plot and theme without the lazy stereotypes.

I really liked this eight installment of The Bodyguards of L.A. County series, though I cannot say it is one of my favourites.

Reagan is a physician who has decided to take off to Backwoods of Kentucky to work as a physician for the Appalachian Project. She has lost her confidence and faith in her ability after failing to make the right diagnosis on a little girl, which costs the girl her life. She decides to go to The Gap to restore her confidence and help those in need. However, as a small mining community, they do not take well to strangers and it is not long before Reagan's life is a jeopardy, especially after trying to solve the mystery that has been in the making for years. Certain people in the community do not appreciate her poking her in their business and they will do anything to ensure that the mystery is never solved.

Shane is an employee of Ethan Cooke Security who is sent to The Gab to protect Reagan. He joined Ethan Cooke security after he left his previous job when his partner has betrayed Jerrod in Justice for Abby . I really loved how protective he was of Reagan, Jenny and Faith. Jenny is a young teenager who was pregnant with Faith and Reagan and Shane have helped to deliver the baby. They have become an adorable family of four until Shane has been replaced and had to leave.

I liked the plot, however I had major issues with the lack of communication between Reagan and Shane. It felt like neither of them were straight with each other, instead they made assumptions without getting their facts straight, which caused both of them unnecessary heartbreak. They wouldn't have been apart for so long if only they talked to each other.
And can I just say just how much Amber is getting on my nerves?! First Stone and now she was making a pass at Shane. Find your own man Amber, these ones are taken!

Overall a good read and I cannot wait to see what the author has in store for us next.

Reagan’s Redemption by Cate Beauman is the eighth book in the author’s The Bodyguards of L.A. County series. Doctor Reagan Rosner comes to The Gap in the Appalachian Mountains, hoping to move on from the death of one of her pediatric patients. Haunted by the death, she throws herself into getting the federally funded clinic off the ground, but the community is highly suspicious of outsiders and she struggles to get their trust. Shane Harper, a part of Ethan Cooke Security, doesn’t particularly want to be spending a stint in the mountains, but a job’s a job. Although wary of him at first, Reagan begins to warm to Shane after they save the life of teenage mother, Jenny, and her baby, Faith. Taking the pair in, they begin to form a stronger bond. However, with the mining community suffering from an illness, and no one willing to fess up to the true causes, will Shane be able to protect Reagan long enough for love to blossom, or will mysterious phone calls and vandalisms chase the good doctor away from her mission?

Reagan’s Redemption is the third novel I have reviewed by Miss Beauman. I believe this has to be my favorite one so far. I loved Reagan’s headstrong character, and how she cared deeply for the needs of others. Adding Jenny and Faith in was a beautiful touch, especially seeing Shane’s fatherly love for the pair. The romance between Reagan and Shane had just the right amount of build-up before fireworks exploded. I will definitely be following this series as long as Cate Beauman continues to write it.

I love this series! Cate Beauman has written another great mystery! This is the story of Reagan and Shane who meet in The Gap working in a small mining community. I love how you feel like you are living there with them as she describes what it is like to step into the Backwoods of Kentucky with a group of people who do not want you there. As Reagan attempts to make a difference with the tiny medical clinic, Shane supports her and a friendship blooms. After one really intense teenager delivers a baby she is completely unprepared for and she is lost between being a teen and being an mother Shane and Reagan become role models and morph into a family with a teenager and an infant. Shane's time in the Gap comes to a close and he does not want to leave "his Girls" but he doesn't know how to stay either. Reagan has discovered a troubling issue in the Gap and it puts her, Jenny the teenager and the baby in danger. Nobody comes to the clinic anymore and with Shane gone Reagan becomes increasingly concerned about anyone's ability to keep the girls safe.
If I wrote anymore it would spoil the story so I will stop here and say it is one womans passion to try to do the right thing that makes this story a page turner.

Beauman has done it again. This story revolves around Dr. Reagan Rosner, a New York Trauma Specialist who loses a patient under awful circumstances. To redeem herself (in her mind), she accepts the position of Chief Medical Officer for the so-called "Appalachia Project", as it's called by Cooke Security. The medical clinic is in a very inhospitable area of Kentucky. Very few patients come to see the doctor and very few medical professionals want to stay. Shane Harper, former U.S. Marshal and friend of Jared Quinn's now works for Cooke Security and is assigned to guard the drugs used by the doctors at the clinic. He is not happy to be there. Then he meets Dr. Reagan and his attitude changes. Lots of things are happening around the clinic, some of them quite sinister. Reagan and Shane are drawn into problem after problem, as well as a few very pleasant situations.

They finally triumph over their problems, and there is an HEA. Recommended.

This book wasn't as good as the previous books in the series. This is the Bodyguards of L. A. Series. Shane was sent to Kentucky to guard a backwoods government project, including the beautiful Dr. Reagan Rosner. He's attracted to her from the start but she seems strictly business. They develop a friendship but trouble begins to pile up and Reagan makes enemies of some of the people there. It becomes overwhelming and in a moment of stress she goes to Shane' s room and initiates a sexual encounter with him. Shane wants more, wants a relationship with her, but she overheard him talking to another woman and refuses his advances. When his time there is up, he leaves. There is a time period where they have no contact and the story focuses on Reagan alone. It is here the story drags and I found myself skimming pages rather than reading them. The additional characters were a pleasant addition and while the suspense was good, it too tended to drag at times. This will not keep me from reading the next book when it comes out. Just expected more from this one.

Novel received courtesy of Goodreads.com giveaway

This is Book 8 in the "Bodyguard of LA County" series. I loved it so much that, as soon as I have time, I'll be finding the first 7 books! At over 500 pages, it was so much more than a romance although you know that's where the story is heading. This was a really "smart" mystery; meaning it was timely and complex.

While Reagan is working as a doctor in Appalachia for a federally funded program, she is supposed to live in the same cabin with the guy who guards the pills, Shane. While she has much to run from, she wants desperately to help this poverty-stricken, coal mining area of Kentucky. When her diagnoses of several patients goes against what their other doctors are saying, Reagan must decide how to proceed.

Both mystery and romance readers will love this series!

Great series

I have loved this series. This book was slightly different from the others in the series. Though it definitely didn't lack for action, it was certainly heavier on the suspense and emotional development. I enjoyed the setting and quickly fell in love with the characters, especially Jenny and Faith. The story kept tensions high. The romance was at times both sweet and cozy and difficult and volatile. Reagan and Shane were an amazing couple, and their care of Jenny and Faith was heartwarming. I enjoyed the addition of Chase to the story and can't wait to read his book next.

Reagan's Redemption

Reagan is an ER doctor that needs a fresh start. She becomes the doctor for a small community called The Gap. It is a very poor community with MINE that most of the people work there. She discoverers lots of secrets and she is getting to close that she starts getting threats. Her boss for the clinic has hired a bodyguard to keep an eye on the meds at the clinic. Shane Harper is an ex Marshall that has join Ethan Cooke's security team. He's not looking forward going to The Gap because there is not much of the poor town. He and Reagan have sparks flying and give in for comfort for each other. Can they make it living different lives ?

I wish this author wouldn't have the heroines start off so strong only to get stupid halfway through. I saw the plot coming from a mile away, which is fine because the story was enjoyable. Well, it was until the supposedly brilliant doctor stopped communicating with the people there guarding her. And making Amber the femme fatale two books in a row was a bit much. I'll read the next book because I already own it, but I really hope the next heroine stays smart throughout the whole book, not just the first half.

Guess I'm in the minority on this one, but this was my least favorite book of the series. At 25% in I almost DNF, but I really despite doing that so I trudged on and by about 50% in the story got better. I just couldn't get into the story line. And while a love Shane's character, Reagan's was just annoying.

Definitely one of the best in the series. I am hoping the next one has a grown up Faith. About 5 years later I suspect would be enough time for Terry to be out and looking for vengeance. A must read for anyone who likes this series.

Another good book in this series. The hero and heroine are, as always, eminently likeable, try hard to do what is right... and communicate horribly. A little less action and suspense in this one, but still a thoroughly enjoyable book.
