Rate this book
There's never a dull moment when the Reel Kids media club takes on swollen rivers, dense jungles, and rugged mountains to film the fascinating faces and places that need the gospel. Jeff, Mindy, and K.J. experience the heart of cultures around the world as they meet intriguing new friends on their action-packed global adventures.

Jeff Caldwell never dreamed the "Reel Kids" trip to Cuba would create such a gigantic problem. He knew the globetrotting club had experienced troubles before, but not like this. It seemed like trouble from start to finish. Would God be able to pull Jeff and the others out of this international nightmare? With only a desire to help a new friend, Jeff and the team find a spine-tingling adventure at every turn. Why does the dark eyed stranger show such anger and hatred for them? How would this relentless pursuer continue to hinder Jeff's plan to help the Cuban people? Will the footage on the video tape prove to be dangerous? Was God in this media-mission?

I loved this book so much. Several years ago I actually met Dave Gustaveson. He was speaking at my school, and that's where I got the book. That was in 2014, and I still think this book is great. It also represents a lifelike feel to the book.

This book was amazing. There was just so much to the story and it kept me interested through the entire thing.

Let's begin with explaining the members of the "Reel Kids Adventure Club". First, there's Warren (he's the adult in the group), and then the kids: Jeff & Mindy (who are brother & sister) and K.J. All 3 kids go to the same high school, where Warren is the head of the school's communications department. The club's purpose is to go to foreign countries and film what they see and do (that is where the "Reel" comes into the club's name). When they come back home, they'll share what they learned, to other kids at their high school, especially concerning the country's religion, which was the main focus of the international trip.

In this book, the team is off to Cuba. Leaving all just and fair laws about religion back in the United States, the Reel Kids are constantly being pestered by the Cuban officials, every inch of the trip.

They want to tell people about Christianity and lead new people to Jesus Christ, but of course, those ideas are all foiled by Cuba's strong laws. Plus, the secret police could be on the look-out at any time and place. The team is allowed to give speeches in front of a church congregation, but everything the Reel Kids do is being watched by authorities somehow, which makes matters very complicated.

As the trip wears down to the end, the Real Kids aren't even for sure if they'll be let out of the country to return home! All that they know is that God is on their side.

This book was about the Reel Kids Adventure Club going to Cuba. This Club goes to Cuba to make a video for their high school. On the plane to Cuba they meet a guy named Mr. Sánchez. The Cuban government find out that they were speaking about God to him and so they take Mr. Sánchez to prison. Before Mr. Sánchez went to prison the Cuban soldiers take him to a special room. Jeff from the club tries to video what was going on in the room, when one of the soldiers spots him. And so Jeff got taken to jail. I gave this book a 5 star rating because it was full of adventures and I didn't want to put it down.
