Howl Sweet It Is: Reverse Harem Shifter Romance

Rate this book
I run a failing vegan bakery. They run a terrifying motorcycle club. The only thing we should have in common is a mutual appreciation for not being in jail. But apparently, these big bad wolves have a sudden craving for… kale?

My name is Clementine, and my life is save the animals, bake the muffins, and try not to go bankrupt. My café, The Grateful Bread, is a cruelty-free zone. No meat, no dairy, and definitely no leather-clad bad boys.

Until the Iron Claws rolled into town.

They’re six feet of muscle, road rage, and predatory instincts. They should be eating raw steaks and washing them down with gasoline. Instead, they’re squeezing into my dainty café chairs every morning, ordering the "Tofu Scramble Surprise" with a smile that looks suspiciously like a grimace.

Ryker: The MC President who drinks my wheatgrass smoothies like shots of whiskey, staring at me with eyes that say mine.
Vane: The scarred, silent mechanic who fixes my oven for free and "accidentally" growls at any male customer who gets too close.
Griffin: The wild-eyed tracker who swears my gluten-free, sugar-free, taste-free cookies are the best thing he’s ever eaten. (I saw him spit one into a napkin, but I didn't have the heart to say anything).

I thought they were just really supportive of small businesses. I was wrong.

They’re wolf shifters. And they are starving.

They aren't coming back for the quinoa bowls. They’re coming back because my scent drives their inner beasts insane. They’re predators playing house to get close to their prey, and they are getting tired of pretending to like tofu.

They want a different kind of meat. And they’re ready to show me exactly how ravenous a wolf pack can get.

A MMMF Reverse Harem where the food is clean, but the thoughts are dirty. Featuring three bikers choking down beet juice for love, a heroine who just wants to save the planet, and a mating season that’s about to get messy.

Repetitive, formulaic, and boring

DNF 53%
I’ve read several of this series by Ella Hartwell, so it’s probably my own fault that this one is the straw that broke the camel’s back. The whole series is incredibly formulaic and repetitive. While the three alphas each confirming to one of three set in stone caricatures (stoic alpha, observant quiet type second, playful irreverent third), the FMC plays the same as well - happy-go-lucky, fine with her small town life, just so happens to encounter these three strange men who are also strangely attached to each other. She almost immediately accepts their mate bond and news of their supernatural nature. There is some random and far-fetched external threat to them and their bond. She plays some pivotal moment in ending that threat. The end. Ad nauseum for the whole series.

None of them are worth your time or effort. 1* for the quality of writing, a second star for the at least cute premises, even if execution was lacking.

I like how we got to see a glimpse of two of the men actually being together with each other at the beginning of this story whereas in the others it was always mentioned they were together but not really shown. That was a good improvement over the previous two books in this series. However this one lacked any of the spice that I was looking forward to which was a bit do a shock given that the first two in the series each had a scene. I think that (for me) if instead of taking that scene away a little more was added then it would’ve been better.

However regardless of spice or not it is still a super cute mostly cozy story. There is a slight drama but nothing major. Short, sweet, and to the point.

Clementine, Ryker, Vane, and Griffin

This is a very good, well written, Shifter/ Human romance with action moments. Clementine owns a vegan bakery and is curious when three large bikers start visiting and eating kale chips. The bikers, Ryker, Vane, and Griffin have found their mate and like to hang out at the bakery to be close to her. She accepts a date to dinner with all three. They surprise her by going to a vegan restaurant and continue to support her principles. Read how she helps settle a territory dispute with another pack and becomes the Alpha Mate.

DNF 82%. Definitely not an improvement over the 1st 2 books in the series. I try very hard to temper my expectations when I am reading books like this I really do but at a certain point it becomes very difficult to ignore repetitive writing, muddled world building, plot holes and shallow characters.

All that said I will be attempting to read the next book. I do however need to note that I would not have read these if they were not on Kindle Unlimited.

Three Wolves and a Vegan

What a plotline - three wolves and a vegan baker. She was their fated mate which could be hard for a human to endure, but it didn't bother her at all. She fit right in and proved she was strong enough when danger threatens the pack. Working their relationships, pack business and her bakery together helped them achieve their HEA.

Love good banter and this book has that, the characters have great connection which allowed for the banter to flow, although this wasn’t a very spicy book you were able to feel the chemistry between them all.

Story 3⭐️ Spice 1.5🌶️
Soooooo repetitive. The words “vegan baker” were said 19 times in almost identical sentences. A lot of inner dialogue. I really wish it would have been MPOV.

Vegan Baker x 3 Biker Shifters. A new one for me.

Very funny. BUT please, please, please don't make me read the word "unironically" ever again. I promise it was used at least 10 times.

i swear every few chapters she was saying something “without thinking” we get it. “the words slipped out” again and again. AND AGAIN.
