The Catalysts by Amir Shevat is the 49th book I've read this year.
We're back in The Time of Magic books; book 1 I reviewed earlier this year. Our group of adventurers grows to 4 as they seek to strengthen the magic that was brought back in book 1. In a fight of dark and light, our adventurers find a couple of unlikely adversaries have banded together. Rising tensions in the country have the government pushing back hard on magic users.
You can feel the desperation of Brenda, Valor, and their new companions as things feel hopeless, seemingly endless obstacles in their way, both in physical ones and emotional ones, questioning if they’re doing the right thing, and what the right thing even is. That answer isn’t always clear cut, and somebody is bound to get hurt.
