What an amazing, explosive sequel to book 1! The action, world building, the magick and imagination put into this was top tier!
We are back with Jack and Goldilocks, but introduced to so many more characters, including Snow White, Cinderella, Lucifer - the list goes on.
Our main characters in this book- Jack, Goldilocks, and Snow team up to put an end to the bodies piling up and the dark forces behind it.
I can’t stress enough how imaginative, dark and fun this story is- and the ending!? You can’t leave me like that!!
Highly recommend for any fantasy & urban fantasy lovers!

I had the pleasure of receiving this as an e-ARC and voluntarily will be giving my honest review. Wow!! This is an urban dark fantasy retelling with a dark twist!! This book had me hooked from the very start!! This is book 2 in the Fablenoir Series. So many great characters all with a dark twist, troubled past, struggles and interconnected plots. This is a fast paced book with lots of action packed adventures. The world building is phenomenal!! This book leaves you wanting more especially with this ending!! Chefs kiss Vic Sinclair!!

I absolutely loved book one of this series, but Rose Red Undead takes it to another level! We're thrown right back into the world of Fablenoir with Jack and Goldilocks, which is great because after that intense finale I was desperate to find out what state they were in and how the fight was going, and things definitely haven't slowed down in New York as far as crime, corruption and magickal disasters go. We get to see a lot more through Goldilocks' eye (including some gorgeously twisted visions of Wonderland which I can't WAIT to learn more about) and I thoroughly enjoyed getting to learn more about her background and insane family dynamic, honestly there were times it was so intense I was completely floored!
Jack with all his struggles continues to be my favourite, but we're also introduced to a whole new cast of misfits that I connected with just as much, including a completely fresh POV from Lili Snow/Snow White that seriously helps expand the scope of the story. She's pretty much just trying to live her life when her guardian angel Lucifer drops her in the middle of the action, which makes for an awesome ride for us! I loved getting to experience the mysteries unravelling and the bonds between the little gang developing through her perspective as well as Jack and Goldilocks.
As you can tell, the fairytale characters keep coming, and they're just as creatively reimagined as they were in book one. Got some new favourites (I particularly like Mother Gothel) and I'm really happy to see old faces like Hatter and Tom Thumb again. It feels like there's space for the characters to be more involved with each other this time around as events throw people together and everyone gets deeper into the chaos.
The places and events are beautifully described and varied (Swan Lake definitely stuck with me) and the scale of the story is just so big this time that you have to experience it. All the threads from book one come together but so many more doors are opened, there's just so much to discover about every character and so many layers to the world. And if you thought events in book one were grim, well...all I can say is that Rose Red is, once again, on a whole other level.
Also there's a REALLY cute minotaur.

Brilliant!!!
What a story! I was eager to continue this series after the ending of Fablenoir and I was not left disappointed.
Rose Red Undead introduced us to new characters which made the storyline delve deeper into the darkness of the world. I loved how Jack teamed up begrudgingly with Charming, it worked well especially with the new threats. I really enjoyed the shift in this book, it's focus on Lily and Rose was interesting, the underlying stories between all the characters had me fascinated and hooked. The mixture of arch angels, gods and the fairytale characters is really interesting to me, it gives us characters we thought we knew but in a different light. The ending had me shocked, it just ended and I seriously need a book 3 now! I thoroughly enjoyed reading this series.

Teaming up once again, Jack and Goldilocks are back in this dark gritty urban fantasy. I love my fairytales twisted and dark and this does not disappoint. I loved the introduction of Snow White, she’s my favourite princess, and this take on her was brilliant.
There are so many great characters in this book with troubled pasts, ongoing struggles and interconnecting plots. It’s fast paced, action packed and exciting. It once again left me wanting more and I can’t wait to see what happens in the next book.
Overall, this was a 4⭐️ read for me. Perfect for fans of dark urban fantasy.

Another fab read here from Vic Sinclair with Fablenoir 2: Rose Red Undead.
I predicted after the first book that the story would get bigger and better with the second instalment and it did not disappoint! Original characters returned (shout out to Hatter) and we were introduced to a number of new ones. The storyline opened up a wider narrative with these additional characters… and more chaos, creepiness and destruction. I suspect much more still to come in the next books and I can’t wait.

This is book two in the Fablenoir series and we meet up with our dynamic duo a little while after the climactic end of book one. Jess and Jack know their work is far from over because they may have won the battle, just, but they are way off from winning the war! We are introduced to a number of new characters while Jess and Jack continue their efforts to save their world. We meet smarmy Governor Charming, his son Captain Charming, and is Jack’s new boss, who I really didn’t like, but as the story progressed he started to grow on me. We also meet Jess’s family, her sister Lavender, her brother Midas, and their mother. We meet Lili Snow, her sister Rose, their Guardian Angel Apollo, Annie Cinders, a necromancer called Mother Gothel, a magic mirror, a demigod, more witches, and many more.
This book is a little darker and more unhinged than book one and I loved it! This series gets better and better with each new chapter. I am really enjoying Vic’s take on traditional fairytale characters and their storylines. This book continues the dark and twisty vibe of book one while amping up the stakes for our intrepid good guys with every page. Jess and Jack are collecting allies like Pokemon cards but will it help or hinder when the end comes? I don’t know but I can’t wait to find out! And I have to say that I am loving the different dynamics of our new friend group. And what an ending! Talk about cliff hanger! While our circle of good guys is expanding I have a feeling that this story is far from over, at least I hope it is because I am obsessed, I need to know what happens next. This was a fab read and I rated it 4.25 stars, I would definitely recommend.

‘Rose Red Undead’ is Fablenoir part two and this series is another one of my obsessions this year! There’s a lot of chaos, insanity, twists and turns and I’m 100% here for it!
I love the amount of action involved in this read, it’s fairytale taken up a dozen notches and everytime I gain a favourite character, more characters appear. However I’m fully settled on Annie Cinder being my favourite because with the original tale of Cinderella being in a toxic environment with her step sisters and mother, it’s satisfying seeing her character being retold as an aggressive feisty individual with a lot of power over people! I can’t wait to see her character develop!
One thing I do like about the character creations in this story is that it features a lot of underrated fairytale characters, they’re all quirky and their names are changed so it took me a while to figure out who is who but for me that was exciting! I’m very oblivious so I don’t think this will be the case for any other reader!
As a whole, the amount of thought, effort and creation in this series in general is spectacular! In 'Rose Red Undead', there are 3 POVs which are Jack, Lily Snow and Goldilocks and instead of just showing the name, the author has used symbols for each character and I really love that detail!
If you like your fairytale reimaginings with horror, action, crime and mystery with strong powerful women dripping with sarcasm then add this to your TBR!

I can't believe that I'm already back reviewing this second book in the Fablenoir series.
Having read and loved book 1 - Fablenoir - back in May, I was excited to continue the journey, but didn't think that it would be so quickly.
Having almost come straight in from reading book 1, this was so easy to fall straight back into this world and become immersed back into the storyline.
This was another chunky read and for me, being fantasy, I often shy away from the bigger books - but honestly, this was so easy to get hooked into because it feels like you already know the characters - but of course, this new world takes what we know and totally switches things up.
I love that the setting still feels so familiar, but placing these fairytale characters and gods within really gives us such a new perspective.
I loved being back with the characters we'd grown to know and love in book 1, but there are some new characters introduced through this book that really add new layers and take a lead role in this story.
I love that each of these characters come across as familiar, yet completely not what we expect from them.
Despite the fairytales often being quite dark - this ramps that up tenfold and we take a trip through a gritty and dark tale.
I'm not always the best reading fantasy yet, but I am absolutely obsessed with this series and set of characters.

This epic urban fantasy is book 2 in the fablenoir series which is set predominantly in new york but with a magick (no thats not a typo)/fantasy twist.
I enjoyed the multi-pov and seeing family fall outs and other relatable dynamics made for an easy read and i actually (dare i say it?) preferred this to book 1 as felt the writing was more mature/consistent.
There was mental health rep written into this story (ptsd i would assume) and its done well with our mmc not wanting help and believing he can get over things and carry on.
Rose is a complex character,was enjoyable finding out more about her. This book has that ‘thriller’ feel of finding out the clues as we go through all the different fantasy twists and turns on the way.
Loved watching Lav come into her own in this book.
Mother Gothel is my kind of necromancy queen 🤣 i know she isn’t probably meant to be loved as much as i do love her but its the ‘idgaf’ fierceness!
Would recommend this book to anyone who enjoys fantasy/thriller and just wants their dark read to also be fun but beware-you will be messaging the author to ask him to hurry along with book 3!

This is book 2 of a series, and despite having read book 1, I have to admit that I struggled to fully cement in my mind who was who in terms of which "real" name belonged to which fairytale
character. And whilst the narrator of each section was indicated at the beginning with a symbol, I personally would have preferred their name as I find it easier tokeep track that way. On the other hand, that might have disrupted the flow of the book. Having said all that, I thoroughly enjoyed this book. It's fairytales - but for adults!
Set in New York's criminal underworld, 'Rose Red Undead' features the characters you loved as children, as you've never imagined they could be. I think Goldilocks is my favourite, she's such a badass, despite not necessarily being a "good guy". And the Charmings should be the"good guys" being police, but I found them irritating. This just shows how life isn't black and white, good and evil aren't always obvious.
This is a really good fantasy adventure series, and the fact that the characters are ones we know from fairy tales, myths and legends just makes it even more fun!

Returning to the world of *Fablenoir* felt like stepping back into a dark fairy tale that never quite lets you catch your breath. 🖤 *Rose Red Undead* continues the series' unique blend of noir, fantasy, and horror, throwing familiar fairy tale characters into an even grittier, more dangerous world.
One of my favorite things about this series is how naturally the twisted fairy tale elements fit into the story. Nothing feels forced—you're simply dropped into this chaotic universe where magic, monsters, and morally gray characters all coexist, and it somehow just works. The atmosphere is dark and unsettling, but there are still enough lighter moments sprinkled throughout to keep the story from feeling overwhelming.
This series continues to be unlike anything else I've picked up recently. While I still think *Fablenoir* has a slight edge for me, *Rose Red Undead* expands the world in interesting ways and keeps the momentum going. If you're looking for a fresh, darker take on fairy tales with plenty of mystery and supernatural intrigue, this series is definitely worth checking out. ⭐

I'm going to start with the cliche; I could not put this book down! This is a tale of loyalty and deep love in a dark world where it would be easier to conform, or to turn a blind eye to the evil happening in the magickal city of New York.
The story unfolds at a frenzied, unrelenting pace, picking up from where we left Detective Jack Slade in the first book, Fablenoir. We are introduced to many more fairy tale characters, each strengthening the bonds and twists of this saga. The stunning descriptive writing forms an interlock between the action and the narrative and the dialogue flowed off of the page which compelled me to read on and on.
I absolutely loved the clever use of the magick mirror which spun out some rhymes, adding a poetic edge to the already sophisticated script.
I urge you to step into the world of Rose Red Undead - you think you know your fairy tale characters? Think again, for this is no bedtime story.

A return to Detective Jackson Slade and Goldilocks and this fairytale reimagining was just as wild and insane as the first book in the Fablenoir series. Jack is rather crazed and mad but he is my absolute favourite character. He’s got problems and struggles but continues to be insanely entertaining. We get a return of some fairytale characters from book one but also the introduction of lots of new characters straight from fairytales.
The story line was even more impactful. It’s fast with lots of action as we go deeper into this rather dark and unhinged world. Basically, it was a fantastical read. The ending however left the story far from over. I can’t begin to imagine what we will get in book three!
The story line was even more impactful. It’s fast with lots of action as we go deeper into this rather dark and unhinged world. Basically, it was a fantastical read. The ending however left the story far from over. I can’t begin to imagine what we will get in book three!

Really enjoying this dark urban fantasy series and hope there's more to come!
Rose Red Undead is the follow up to Fablenoir and continues the story of Jackson 'Jack' Slade and the outlaw Goldilocks as they fight to bring down evil forces in a weird alternate version of New York. Whilst book one was told almost entirely from Jack's perspective, here we get multiple points of view which I enjoyed and we get to see more of Jess/Goldilocks's backstory. The story takes an even more supernatural turn as we meet several new characters including the orphan Snow, her guardian angel Apollo, and the mysterious Rose Red. Recommended for fans of Once Upon a Time, Supernatural and dark fairytale retellings 🌹✨

I could not wait to dig into the second installment of Fablenoir.
We are thrown straight into the action in Rose Red Undead with a whole new cast of characters.
I really liked the three different POVs we get to experience throughout, including that of the newly introduced character, Lili Snow and of course the return of our favourite detective, Jackson Slade!
The world building and descriptions were so well done, I could picture the scenes as if I was stood there with the characters.
'Rose Read Undead' delves even further into the dark fairytale cross over world that @VicSinclairV introduced us to in Fablenoir.
I really enjoyed learning more about Jess' (Goldilocks) family relationships, it helped me feel more for her knowing more of her backstory.

As someone who greatly enjoyed Vic's first book Fablenoir I was very impressed with how this sequel ended up turning out! As I mentioned in my review of the first book this story has the same vibes as Once Upon A time but in a way this story is more BA! I have to say not only was I very impressed with how the plot was written out but I was very impressed with how the characters played out as well. These characters have their own struggles when it comes to their normal everyday life but when someone is in trouble they immediately jump in and try to resolve the situation at hand. If anyone is searching for their next read then you need to check out this story!

I really enjoyed Fablenoir (book 1) but I was blown away with Red Rose Undead, what a great story!
This series very much reminds me of Once Upon a Time, which I very much enjoyed, seeing fairytale characters come to life and they are given a whole different personality, and I loved that we also see demigods and angels in this book.
Jack is his usual selfdestructive self but we are introduced to Lili who I really liked and I loved the mystery around Red Rose and the links to necromancy.
This book is dark and gritty with heaps of personality. This series is one for the tbr, definitely recommend!

After reading book 1 I was really looking forward to this one but I did struggle in the beginning with the writing style when it came to Goldilocks. The sentences didn't seem complete and were very stilted when spoken from Goldilocks point of view.
It took me a little while to get into the story due to the number of different character storylines but once they all came together it flowed easier and made a lot more sense. I felt that this story was a lot more in depth due to the various storylines and much darker than book one. The ending sets you up for a possible 3rd installment?

I adored book one in the Fablenoir series and I was so excited to jump back into the twisted, dark, fairy tale world again. I was completely sucked back into the gritty magical side of New York, I absolutely love the dual POV between Jack and Snow White it gave a really interesting take seeing how jaded Jack is and how innocent Snow is. I found the pacing great and I couldn't get enough, the way magic is told in this series is some of my favourite I've ever read, it has a weight to it and a serious side that is often ignored by others

I’ve been waiting to read the second book in the Fablenoir series since I finished the first one. Sat in the magical city of New York, the story picks up where the first book ended. Detective Jack Slade is right back in the heart of the action and we meet lots more fairytale characters who each play an important role. The story moved along at a brisk pace with plenty of action, taking the reader deep into this somewhat dark and unhinged world. The ending left me wanting more and I can’t wait for book 3.

Rose Red Undead by Vic Sinclair.
Book 2 of Fablenoir.
This was a really good read. I loved book 1. I loved the cover and blurb of this book. I read this in a few days. I couldn't put it down. I'm really enjoying this series. I loved the writing style and the story. I still love Jack. I did love Lili too. This was a different read for me. I definitely recommend this book. I do hope there is more to come.

This is the second book in the Fablenoir series and I loved book one and book two contained on with the same level of characters that made me love book one. I love Goldilocks!!! She is my absolute favorite character. The way Vic Sinclair melds the fairytales we grew up with and a underbelly world of crime together is top notch. It is magical !!!! This may not be your normal genre but give it a chance because you will be surprised how much you love it.

We are back in the fablenoir world with book 2. We follow on from book 1 with goldi and jack and charmming, uncovering more crimes with new faces joining them. Its more slow moving compared to book 1 but i still loved it. This series me of once upon a time with twisted tales, i hope there is more to come for this series.
