Lights. Cameras. Murder.

Life as a model is pretty sweet—dating the most beautiful men and women in the world, traveling anywhere I want on a whim and getting paid to look good. But I crave something more, something I can’t name.

Then I see him.

Or rather, I see him work.

And I know he’s mine. I’ll do whatever I need to do to prove it to him.

Match Made in Hell is a part of a multi author collab with a murderous model and an investigative journalist that was made perfectly for him. Each book can be read as a standalone, but why not grab them all?

4.25 stars. Menace Grant is a famous model; he’s rich and uses his money for charity, among other things. Secretly, he eliminates rich people. At a charity gala, he spots Hill, and instantly knows ‘he’s mine’

Hill Washington is an investigative journalist, and has to attend events, like the charity gala where he hopes to interview Menace Grant.
After he wins a lottery at the gala, he wins a date with Menace. They are hot for each other.
One evening, Menace follows Hill, and in a dark alley, he sees him kill a guy. When Hill sees Menace is his witness, he runs away and waits for the police to arrest him. Guess what… they never came.
Menace is even more obsessed with Hill. They are like-minded! It’s intoxicating. They are explosive together, dang, so hot!

“You look good with blood on you,”

For the killer part, they are evenly matched; for the financial part, there’s a gap as big as the Grand Canyon. Menace leads a good life and spends most of his earnings on shelters that help victims.
You’ll find answers to why while reading.

Remember, they are killers. Imagine if they join forces.
It was a fast read, hot, bloody, and intriguing. Hill and Menace were wonderfully portrayed. The secondary character Lucian is Hill’s best friend and plays a significant role.
The whole story was quite fun!

This is a morally grey dark romance novella, featuring Menace and Hill, and is book one in the In The Spotlight multi author series.

Menace lives a very public life as a model but he has a darker side, something he craves. When he sees Hill in a dark alley, doing something he couldn’t be doing, Menace knows they have something in common and he is instantly obsessed.

This was so frigging entertaining, I love RS McKenzie’s books and this one is a great dark edition. Hill and Menace were made for each other, using their vigilante actions as foreplay, and both have this insta-obsession. There is great found family vibes in this one too. I know this is a multi author series, so I’m really interested in seeing what is install for us.

Things to expect in this book are:
Book 1 in series
MM dark romance
Novella
Model x Journalist
Both serial killer/vigilantes
Light stalking
Insta-lust
Obsessive & Possessive
Spicy times & dirty talk
Public s*x & s*x toys
Calls him little psycho
Touch him & 💀
Found family.

Match Made in Hell - R.S. McKenzie
🌟 4.25/5 🌟

* SPOILERS *

I knew this was going totally be a good one when you pair two killers and man, when they meet, it’s love at first sight.

I love how after that date with each other that Hill got with the famous model, Menace, that these two just had such a connection that they couldn’t stay away from each other. When they find out they have the same love of getting revenge on people in a very epic way, I was here for it.

the acting that Hill did towards the end of the book with the cops had me dying with laughter because he fooled everyone. I love how RS is able to include a bit of romcom in dark romance to make it even more fun and exciting yet keeping you on the edge of your seat as well.

I love me a good unhinged story where the characters immediate draw me in from the first page to the end. The fact that Menace wanted to marry Hill from the moment he saw him kill someone was everything for these two.

I received a copy of this book and this is my honest review.

Oh i had so much fun with this one. Menace and Hill were such a fun and chaotic pair. This book is definitely a great read if you are in the mood for a bloody, sexy, and quick experience. I think for how short the book was, the characters were pretty fleshed out and realized. Honestly, this book was surprisingly really wholesome if you don't mind the murder but the actual love story and relationship between the two were really cute. Overall, this book was a great read and i highly recommend it.

Menacing, hot, intense, and although brutal at times it's somewhat satisfying. As bad as these men are there's something rather endearing about them, you can't help but like them, especially for their sorta 'Robin Hood' ways. This was a very enjoyable tale, it'll make you laugh, sigh, and even cringe, it's that good. I absolutely loved these two men and truly wish we could have more of them in the future.

Morally grey romance done right. Menace & Hill run into each a few times before Hill has yhe opportunity to go on a date with the world famous model. What neither is prepared for is how much they truly have in common. Their chemistry is off the charts its when they truly get to know one another that the true option for real love happens. This is by no means your typical love match yet it works for both of their broken souls, they need each other to strive and love their best lives. It was such a fun take on the genre looking forward to seeing more morally grey characters from this author.

DNF at 54%.

I tried to stay into this but, from the beginning, we were in the danger zone with the MC contradicting himself at least three times in his introductory chapter. (We were concerned about getting caught, then we consciously left our DNA with the assumption that the neighborhood we were in would leave our scene undiscovered for long enough to make it indistinguishable from other DNA, but then we thought about how meticulous we are about illegal activity planning. I think I had an identity crisis with him.)

I find myself disgusted when an author uses “getting my nut” (or similar phrasing) for an orgasm, and this time is no different. The dirty talk is awkward and repetitive, just like the “little psycho” nickname (which was used at least eight times within the first handful of pages after its introduction; I had no break).

I feel like I don’t fully understand what an investigative journalist does because our guy had been metaphorically (imo) looking down his nose at gossip reporters, but he was at a rich-jerk charity event to get “soundbites” or something… for an article about the origin of the other MC’s charity? “Before we’re taken over by technology”? When I was told that we’re probably the only person still using pen and paper to take notes?

I think this author either needs an editor or should seek a new one because there are so many inconsistencies both in the characters’ thoughts and in simple event timelines. (For example: We exchanged numbers immediately after we won a date, but then we later say we exchanged them when we were taken home.)

Some quotes:

“I may be one of the only journalists in this decade to still use pen and paper […].” (Oh, how unique of us.)

“Most people would kill to hobnob with the rich and famous, but I’d rather be in my cubicle, working on an article.” (“I’m not like other boys!”)

“‘I haven’t dated men since the first Bush administration.’ I didn’t know what that meant, but I liked her attitude.” (So we’re dumb? We posses a singular brain cell on strike?)

“Damn, that’s fucked up. I’m glad he has you, though.” (This just made me crack up because we were discussing past child abuse through foster homes, and this was the response. I literally lol’ed.)

This will probably be the last solo release from this author that I’ll read/request for a while.

I received an ARC through GRR, and these were my honest thoughts and reactions as I read and, eventually, gave up.

Menace and Hill took "power couple" to a whole new level. Both men were fiercely loyal and had no qualms about dishing out bloody justice to those who thought they were above the law. I knew from the moment they locked in on each other that their lives would never be the same, and it was exciting to see the outcome. Hill and Menace's sexual chemistry was first to spark to life, but after their murderous hobbies were revealed to each other, the last of their guards dropped. Menace had never found a man who accepted every part of him and loved his possessive streak, and with Hill they were like two sides of the same coin. I took great pleasure in watching them combine cute dates with ending targets, learning about each other's traumatic pasts while making plans to finish those who'd caused their suffering. They truly were a perfect match, and every shared day only brought them closer together. The intrigue of not knowing who they were planning to go after next kept me invested in the main storyline, while in romance-land it was smooth sailing all the way to the end.

**I voluntarily read an early copy of this book. This review expresses my honest thoughts and opinions.

Part of a multi-author series (In the Spotlight). Quick read. Dual POV. Heed content warnings.

When Hill catches the eye of famous model Menace he certainly doesn’t expect the fast connection nor that they share a similar secret. Menace is instantly attracted to Hill, but he soon realizes his obsession may be even more of a perfect fit for him.

I enjoyed Hill and Menace’s instant attraction but was really entertained by the way they had so much more in common than lust. This was a fun spiral into dark themes with morally grey characters that find their match made in hell. They share their pasts with each other, Menace accepts Hill’s best friend as found family readily, and they smoothly transition to a couple with no hesitation. I can easily see them making their own unique HEA even with the darker aspects and I found myself smiling at the thought. 4.5 rounded up.

Match Made in Hell by R.S. McKenzie is part of a multiauthor universe in which public figures moonlight as serial killers. Menace Grant is a supermodel by day and a serial killer by night. He meets Hill Washington, investigative journalist, at a charity event. The two are attracted to each other and go out not realizing that they have more in common than they originally thought. I loved seeing how they realize that they are perfect for each other. I am hoping that we get a story from Lucian. I really loved the pieces that we saw of him. He deserved someone to love and understand him like Menace does with HIll. I am loving this series so much!

I received an ARC from GRR for my honest review.

quick read

I have read a lot of RS’s books. This was good but not close to her other ones IMO.

It was short and quick so it was a fast burn. There wasn’t a lot of time to get a connection between the characters.

This really could have done with some editing/proofreading. This had a lot of mistakes as far as missing words, extra s endings on words or no endings, and at least one time words were wrong with mine and his. It was somewhat frustrating to go back and reread to make it make sense. Her other books were not like this so it was surprising and disappointing. I will read other books by this author since I usually do enjoy her writing and the editing is usually a lot better.

I really enjoyed Menace and Hill’s story. It has just the right amount of dark and romance combined to pull you in and keep its hold on you. I liked their insta-chemistry, it was explosive and hot. I also really enjoyed the length, it was long enough that we got plenty of their story and didn’t feel like anything was missing, but short enough that you didn’t get bored.

I know this is part of a multi author collab, and I hope Lucian gets his own book, but if one of the other authors doesn’t write it I hope RS does!!

I received this book as an ARC from the author and these are my honest opinions.

Phewwww this was good! Quick, spicy read that hit all the right spots! Menace is a rich, hot, sexy model who also happens to have a secret. He is a k*ller, but not just on the random. His victims are typically rich men or women who abuse their spouse or children. When he meets Hill at a charity event, it is possessive, "he is mine" type vibes right off the bat. Hill is an investigative journalist who is after a good story, but when he wins a date with Menace at this event, his life quickly turns upside down. Especially when Menace catches him in the act of his own k*ll.
These two were fire from the very beginning and I couldn't get enough of either of them!

Did Not Finish
May 3, 2026
Honestly, from chapter one I was already thinking… what the heck am I reading?

I tried to stick with it and give it a fair chance, but it just never clicked for me. I couldn’t really connect with the story or characters enough to stay invested. I kept waiting for something to pull me in, but it just didn’t happen.

At a certain point, I had to call it and decided not to finish. This one just wasn’t for me. It might work for other readers.

I received an advanced copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.

I have read several of the books in this series so far and I have to say Match Made In Hell is my new favorite. It’s absolutely unhinged and a perfect break from reality lol. It’s filled with murder of course, but also the love and romance I’ve come to love from R.S. McKenzie. Menace and Hill are so perfectly matched and are smitten with each other from the beginning. The spice is 10/10 as well. I love these murder boys and thoroughly enjoyed their story. It’s quick, to the point, and exciting start to finish. This series has been great overall and I look forward to seeing what comes next.

This was fun! I loved the things these two MCs had in common and how amazed they were that they did.
"We're meant to be together, little psycho," I breathe against his lips before dropping back down for me. " You're my perfect match."
I liked this approach to morally grey MCs and how they could finally be truly themselves with each other.
The only problem was all the grammar and word mistakes. I just wonder if the author was in a hurry to get the book done and skipped getting it Beta read? It didn't annoy me enough to interfere with the reading experience.

Another dark and yummy book by RS McKenzie. I have read several of the books in this multi-author series and they are all wonderful, dark and steamy. Menace (yes very appropriate name) is a model with a craving to bring some justice to the people that bring harm to innocent people. Hill is a journalist who lands right in the middle of Menace’s life. I have to say that this book had a twist that I had not read before but I really liked it. Just know these two men have some great chemistry and a wonderful HEA. I highly recommend this book. Enjoy!

This book was dark, chaotic, and completely addictive. As part of the In the Spotlight multi-author collab, it brings feral chemistry, morally grey characters, and a romance that thrives in the shadows.
Hill and Menace are perfectly unhinged together—obsessive, intense, and somehow still soft in all the right moments. A twisted, fast-paced, and seriously fun read

Menace is a supermodel who's a secret vigilante only unaliving people who are abusive unalivers themselves. He hooks up with Hill, a journalist, follows him and sees him unalive someone. Now the two are rapturously in love with their mirror twin in crime and decide that boyfriends who unalive together, thrive together. The novella is decadently dark, brutally bloody, viciously violent and surprisingly super steamy, beyond morally gray to black.

3.5⭐

This was a weird read for me. I liked the story, and I liked Menace and Hill. They were a great match. But I didn't feel connected or drawn in to the story like I expected. It's a short book, and everything felt a bit rushed. There is a ton of info given throughout the story, and I would have preferred a longer book that allowed all that info to be explored more in-depth. I did love that the two MCs had similar side "hobbies". That's something I don't see too often.

Although I previously read and enjoyed a cowritten book, this was my first solo book by RS McKenzie. While I enjoyed the dark humor and themes of Menace and Hill's book, the story felt rushed and would have benefited from being fleshed out further. Also, the author really needs a better proofreader, as numerous typos and grammatical errors abounded.

Absolutely filthy and delicious. These two are perfect for each other in ways no one should be. I loved how instantly obsessed and in love these two are with each other. And that's before they know the truth. Once that's revealed, it explodes and these two become even closer, and even more crazy about each other. It's a quick read that's fun, smutty, and a whole lot of murder.

I haven't read a book by this author in a while. I forgot how much I enjoyed them.

This one is between Menace the supermodel and Hill the journalist by day and serial killer by night.

It was a nice mix of plot and spice. A nice mix of seriousness and banter.

Since there is a few mentions of various types of abuse and killing bad people I would highly recommend checking triggers.

Menace and Hill story was amazing with adrenaline and an unexpected unhinged twist coupled with a dark side that brings justice to those that were wronged.
I loved their chemistry, the intensity of their feelings, as well as the fact they complete each other so beautifully that it really makes the title reflect them.

Match Made in Hell is part of the multi-author In the Spotlight series, each can be read as a standalone. I loved reading this dark story about Menace and Hill, they worked out so well together. I could not put it down once I started reading it, this works as a wonderful romance, just a little on the darker side.

Smutty inta lust with dark themes

Dark, twisted, obsessive and possessive.
Menace the model and Hill the investigative journalist have more in common than they realize.
Menace wants to own Hill which cost him his last relationship.
Thankfully Hill wants exactly that type of relationship.

I loved this unusual story of two men, who found someone perfect for them, no matter how impossible that could seem.

A glamorous model and a tattooed journalist look the odd pair, but they find love and understanding.

It’s a fun, murderous story, that just gives you all the romance, heat, morally grey vibes.
