Free Fall

Rate this book
I’ve made a lot of bad decisions in my life but letting Trey Bennett move in might top the list. For months, I resisted him—the smooth-talking, untamed, and way-too-handsome bull rider who somehow got under my skin. But broke is broke, and when he offered to rent my spare room, I couldn’t say no.

He was supposed to be recovering. Lying low. Temporary.

Instead, he’s fixing things around my house, winning over my grandma, and getting closer than I ever meant to let him. We have rules—boundaries I swore I’d keep—but they don’t mean much when every time he looks at me, I forget why I built walls in the first place.

The problem? My past doesn’t stay buried.

Danger has a way of finding cracks and the threats are getting louder. Trey is the last person I want caught in the crossfire. The more I fall, the harder it is to keep him safe and I’m not sure love is worth that kind of risk.

A big thank you to India and Trevor Reiste for this arc! I was so excited to return to Diamond Hill Ranch for Jessie and Trey’s story. We get a glimpse into their banter and rival relationship at the end of book 1; Mountain Time and I have literally been counting the days until we got their full story!

Jessie Hawkins is an ER nurse balancing work, student loan debt, bills, a complicated family past that continues to threaten her future, and supporting her grandmother all on her own. Shes doesn’t have time for professional bull riding’s favorite flirt and playboy, Trey Bennett, who’s been crushing on her since the first day he laid eyes on her. But when Trey needs a place to stay while he’s sidelined due to injury, the extra income of rent from a new roommate is too good for Jessie to pass up.

While Jessie tries to keep walls built up around her heart knowing it would be all too easy to fall head over heels for her charming and handsome bull rider roommate, Trey is determined to show her how good their chemistry is together.

I loved everything about this book! Jessie is a strong, independent FMC who is fiercely protective of the ones she loves and despite his playboy reputation, Trey is the definition of “don’t judge a book by its cover”. He’s sensitive, protective, and values meaningful and trusting relationships.

The banter, tension, and yearning in this book is also off the charts! Let’s just say, the paint, strip gin rummy, and jacuzzi scenes will have you weak in the knees. Good grief, Trey Bennett, the man that you are! Reformed playboy bull rider might be my new favorite trope!!

I truly appreciated the perfect balance between the lighthearted banter and humor mixed with the emotional challenges of complicated family dynamics and healing after trauma. This book will make you feel all the emotions! You’ll laugh, cry, swoon, kick your feet giggling, blush and then cry some more.

Mountain Time and Free Fall are both out now!

Tropes:
- Cowboy romance
- Reformed playboy bull rider MMC
- Tension and yearning
- One bed; forced proximity
- Roommates with benefits
- Found family
- Strip gin is played…

5 freaking stars 👏🏼👏🏼

I didn’t think anything could top Mountain Time (book 1) but I was DEAD WRONG.

Right out of the gate, we get Jessie’s strong-headed humor, the banter we all loved between her and Trey, and a real look at the struggles she’s dealing with- her job, family trauma, and bills piling up (which honestly just makes her even more relatable). So Jessie agrees to let Trey crash with her while he recovers from a bull riding injury in exchange for rent money which will allow her to live more comfortably. Yep, it is about as chaotic as it sounds.
Trey has no idea how to sit still and heal without causing problems and constantly getting on Jessie’s nerves. I was happily giggling to myself throughout this book. The unhinged group text messages between the four friends were seriously hilarious.

But The push and pull between the two main characters was sooooo good. Trey falls hard for her and starts shedding his old f*ckboy habits. AND THE SPICEEEE?! 🥵There’s even some toy play, if you know what I mean 😏 Add in the glimpses into rodeo life, the tension, the humor… this book was freaking perfection.

I also loved getting cameos of Kacey and Knox again (our faves from Mountain Time). And I swear, if we don’t get a book focused on Lainey and Carson, I will rage. 😅

I am overwhelmed with emotions over this book. I fell in love with Trey and Jessie’s story while they were still side characters. To me, that just shows the level of depth that Trevor and India have put into their first two books (EVER). They wrote what they know, and that is very evident in this book, as well as Mountain Time. I found so much of myself while reading Free Fall and I hope those who read it after me do as well. The emotion I felt while reading this book was amazing and overwhelming. I lost my granddad my senior year of High School and just reading about two people with such a healthy relationship with a grandparent was very emotional for me and I would be lying if I said it didn’t mean something to me to read this.

Trey and Jessie dug a deep hole in my heart and they will be living there for the rest of my life. Their story was honest, raw, and emotional. They grew together in just a span of months and it was such a privlage to go on that journey with them.

If you haven’t already read Mountain Time, get a move on because the second book in the Diamond Hart Ranch book releases March 24th, 2026 and you’re not going to want to miss it!

Wow wow wow! Another one that completely ripped me apart but also put me back together and made me swoon so hard. Jessie’s story was so tragic and had me crying and just wanting to give her the biggest hug. I loved seeing the depth of her story and life and seeing how far she came and continued to grow through out the story. Gran was the absolute best.
Trey, this man was absolute perfection. He had me squealing and laughing so hard with some of his comments. He also had the biggest heart and was just so sweet. Seeing him grow so much in this story was just perfect. If you love small town, tragic back story and growth, found family, forced proximity, and roommates to lovers then I definitely recommend this one!

The second installment of the Diamond Hart Ranch series follows the best friends to the main characters of Mountain Time (book one). In the brief glimpses into Jessie and Trey in the first book showcases their undeniable attraction and how funny each of them are. At the start of Free Fall we watch their often contentious relationship change as they become roommates of convenience which turns into friends then lovers. They create house rules which are broken (quickly and often) that add to their mounting tension and eventual free fall into love. There is also an undercurrent of danger that runs through this book from Jessie’s past, which heavily shapes the story as Jessie does what she does best by shielding others from problems even at her own detriment.

It was incredible to see Jessie and Trey as the main event rather than background characters. The Reiste’s really fleshed out the once sidekicks in this book by adding more substance to the quick wit and sass we witness in Mountain Time. The banter is absolutely hilarious. There were multiple points I had to stop reading so I could have a laugh about whatever outlandish thing Trey or Jessie (but usually Trey) just said. They also address a lot of hard topics (check your trigger warnings) in a constructive way, which adds more depth to both our main characters.

I cannot say enough good things about this book. It made me laugh, cry, mad, sad, happy and so many other emotions it’s hard to quantify. My work besties (and husband) have had to listen to me gush about this book for weeks. I have been recommending this book (and series) to anyone who will listen, especially if they enjoy cowboy romance. It was a great and emotional read. I had to force myself to put this ARC down a few times and not finish it in one sitting because I wanted to savor it just a little longer. I cannot wait to see what is in store for the next installment of the Diamond Hart Ranch series. Thank you to India and Trevor for the opportunity to read and review this early copy!!

ARC review 🫶🏻

I feel so lucky to have received an ARC of ‘Free Fall’ as I also received one of the previous book in this series ‘Mountain Time’ and this has been a highly anticipated read for me!

Wow, this one was an emotional rollercoaster!! Dare I say I even preferred this one to mountain time??? They’re both 5 star reads for me & I can’t wait to see what comes next with this series.

Our MMC Trey is a bit of a playboy in book 1 and has carried that reputation into Free Fall but he really does have a THING for Jessie our FMC. Jessie is also attracted to Trey but can’t look past his playboy rep.

Their story starts with Trey needing a place to stay and Jessie really struggling with money even though nobody seems to know why. Trey ends up renting a room from Jessie and neither of them truly think it’s a great idea & try to avoid each other as much as possible to begin with. We all know how forced proximity works and avoiding each other is never going to happen!

Slowly they start to form a friendship and let their guards down around each other & they even end up in a one bed situation iykyk ;).

Jessie has had a really difficult upbringing and struggles to open up fully to anyone but she has her gran who she loves dearly. Trey manages to form a lovely relationship with gran and it’s so nice to see. Grans name is Dorothy or Dot for short which is my nanny’s name and they have similar traits and personalities. My nanny is my best friends so I felt really connected to Dot.

This book had some difficult topics and they were dealt with very well, nothing came across forced which I appreciated.

I have fallen in love with Trey and Jessie which after I read Mountain Time I knew would happen.

All in all this was an excellent read and one of my favourites of 2026 so far. Thank you so much to the authors for my ARC, can’t wait to see what comes next at Diamond Heart Ranch.

Happy Reading Besties xoxo

Barbara said…. 😂

Do you ever get so giddy reading a book that you end up just wanting to hug the book physically? Because I seriously get that feeling when I read this series.

This is book two in the The Diamond Hart Ranch series. We are introduced to the two main characters in book 1. And while they can be read as standalone’s, I highly encourage you to start with book 1 first.

Jessie and Trey.

Jessie is a super sassy and super independent woman who has the weight of the world in her shoulders. The stress and traumas she’s going through is throwing her off kilter and she needs help but doesn’t know how to ask for it.

Trey is a professional bull rider with a recent injury and is forced to take him off. The reformed playboy has had his eyes and heart lasered on Jessie since the second he saw a single photo of her. He’s sarcastic, witty, and damn good looking. And what a coincidence that Jessie’s got a room for rent and Trey needs a room to live in while he recovers….

This is annoyance to lovers
Angsty and heartfelt
Top wit and banter
SPICY
Roommates with rules
He’s a bull rider. She’s a nurse.

“She is gravity, and I’m in free fall, praying like hell she’ll catch me before I hit the ground.”

“You’ve made me feel more alive in these last few weeks than any 8-second bull ride ever has.”

I don’t even remember how I came across this married author duo but I’m so thankful that I have managed to get ARCs for both books in the series so far. I’m completely obsessed and to have found them and their stories. Nothing beats reading a cowboy romance that is written by an actual cowboy and his wife who has lived this lifestyle. They are both baddies and I can’t wait to see what’s in store for the future and their writing career!

Thank you so much Trevor & India Reiste for this ARC opportunity!

Y'all. I LOVED THIS BOOK! Trey & Jessie are freaking fire & gasoline! & I have been dying for their story! Their side characters cracked me up in book 1. (Mountain Time - Which I also loved! 5 stars!) They were so much fun! But, I really enjoyed getting more in their heads and reading along with their story. It more than delivered and blew my expectations out of the water! Trey, who has a reputation as a playboy, falls first & HARD for our girl, Jessie. But, Jessie has her walls all the way up and reinforced. You wanna talk about a slowburn? This is it! But, like I said at the beginning, these two are fire and gasoline. When they finally get together, the blaze takes off! It's hot. Literally. There's some spicy moments for sure. But, there are also plenty of sweet & swoon worthy moments too. I laughed, I gasped, I cried. I felt it all. I cannot recommend this book (& this series) enough! It was also so fun to go back to Diamond Hart Ranch and see everyone we met back in book 1 as well. These authors really know how to write found family. Do you think Cody Hart would take me in too? Colorado, here I come!

Some quotes I loved:

"Because she doesn't know it yet, but I'm already gone. She is gravity, and I'm in free fall, praying like hell she'll catch me before I hit the ground."

"Most of all, I want Trey. I think I found that great love without even looking. He's that great love for me."

They’ve done it again… I want to know what Trevor & India are putting in their books because I adore them in a way I cannot describe. It blows my mind that this is their debut series.

From the moment I finished book 1 I was so excited and counting the days until our return to the Diamond Heart Ranch for Trey & Jessie’s love story. We got a glimpse of their banter in book 1 and it only got better in this book. Their chemistry was off the charts (I expected nothing less from these two firecrackers), they had me literally laughing out loud, I cried, & I loved getting glimpses of familiar faces of our side & main characters from book one.

Getting to see a deeper side to Trey & Jessie, not just the easygoing, life of the party masks they both portray was so heartwarming (and heartbreaking at times). Trevor & India incorporated an element of suspense this time around, exploring adding slightly “darker” elements to our storyline and they absolutely knocked it out of the park. I was on the edge of my seat waiting to see how that part of their story would play out and it was executed perfectly. Along with our same heartwarming, found-family feels, the layers of emotions this story will evoke is plentiful.

I cannot recommend these stories enough, please do yourself a favor and read them. Once again, I’m counting the days until we return to this world & I cannot wait to see whose love story we get to dive into next! 🫶🏼

I have been waiting for Jessie and Trey’s story ever since India and Trevor’s debut—and it absolutely delivered.
The ever-evolving rule list had me laughing out loud more than once. Those moments brought such a perfect balance of humor to the story and made their dynamic even more entertaining.
I loved finally getting inside Jessie and Trey’s heads. They were such incredible support systems for Kacey and Knox, so seeing their perspectives and truly understanding what makes them tick only deepened my love for them. This book took me through the full emotional spectrum—I laughed, I cried, and I felt every single moment right along with them.
It was also so great to see the DHR crew back in action. The authors did a fantastic job showcasing that found-family bond, which continues to be one of my favorite aspects of this world.
Darryl had me grinding my teeth—he is truly the worst. And honestly? I was completely on board with Carson’s suggestion. My heart broke for Jessie and everything she endured growing up. Watching her struggle to let people in far enough to see her wounds was both heartbreaking and beautifully handled.
This was an absolute five-star read for me. I cannot wait to see what the authors come up with next.
Thank you to the authors for the ARC—these opinions are entirely my own.

ARC Review

Free Fall by India and Trevor completely wrecked me in the best way.

Jessie’s story hit so close to home for me. Growing up with a crappy mom and having my grandma be my safe place and best friend… that part felt personal. The way Jessie carries that hurt but still keeps going, still fights for something better, really resonated with me. It’s hard to explain, but some of her thoughts felt like they were pulled straight out of my own past.

What I loved most is that this wasn’t just a romance. It was about healing. About learning that the family you’re born into isn’t always the one that saves you. Sometimes you find that in other people. I found mine in my husband’s family and in the friendships I’ve built over the years, so watching Jessie slowly find hers meant a lot to me.

And Trey? His growth was just as powerful. The character development for both of them felt real. Not rushed. Not forced. You could see the layers peel back little by little. They weren’t perfect, they were messy and flawed and human, which made it even better.

This book made me feel everything — anger, heartbreak, hope, love. It’s one of those stories that stays with you after you close it. India and Trevor absolutely killed it with this one. I loved it.

Free Fall is hands down my favourite cowboy romance I’ve ever read. The emotional past and even parts of the present, that the FMC carries is absolutely heartbreaking, and sadly, more common than many would like to admit. It adds a layer of realism and depth that really stayed with me. The MMC starts off as your classic playboy, but the hidden depth to his character is incredibly sweet. Watching both characters grow from when we first meet them in Mountain Time to the end of this book was just amazing.

What I expected to be a fun, light read turned out to be so much deeper than I anticipated. The story explores heavy themes like childhood trauma and abuse, so I’d definitely recommend checking trigger warnings beforehand. That said, the authors handle these topics with care and emotional depth.

It’s safe to say that this book completely blew me away. I cannot wait for book three! It’s going to be hard to top this one, but I truly think India and Trevor can pull it off.
I’d also like to say thank you so much to India and Trevor for providing me with an ARC of Free Fall. I’m genuinely blown away by the quality, emotion, and detail in this series. If you haven’t read Mountain Time or Free Fall yet, I’d highly encourage you to grab a copy!

Such a great story to continue the Diamond Hart Ranch series. I loved the first book, Mountain Time, and this second one did not disappoint. The authors do a wonderful job of incorporating tricky topics and real world conversations, while also infusing humor throughout the book.

The chemistry between Jessie and Trey is off the charts and their banter had me laughing multiple time during this book. That said there is also a real depth to these characters as they navigate challenging issues and you can really see their growth in these pages. I definitely cried at a few points!

From reading Mountain Time I knew this book would be equally authentic to the rodeo industry. You can really see the author's real life experience shine here, and that makes its an enjoyable read for anybody who has spent time in the western industry.

Spicy, while simultaneously full of humor and depth. This is definitely a 5 star read for me. Great for fans of Elsie Silver and Lyla Sage. If you love cowboys Trey is the perfect MMC. I can't wait to read the next one! Thank you for this ARC and I am so excited for what the authors do next.

This book was absolutely perfect! Trey and Jessie are fantastic. The perfect pair. I loved them in book one and couldn’t have been more excited about their story! It is safe to say it did not disappoint. I loved the character development and how deeply we get to know and love Jessie. I thought the heavy topics were handled with care. Making it a bit more of a deep and beautiful story because of it.
I laughed, I cried, and fell in love with them.
The way Trevor and India write cowboy life is perfect! From the way the characters carry themselves, to the way they talk, even the rodeo details added in. It feels so authentic to read.

“Just like that, Jessie Hawkins has ruined me for all other women.”

We’re back at Diamond Hart Ranch with Jessie and Trey in this perfect, close-proximity sequel. Jessie lives her life on edge taking care of everyone whether professionally as an ER nurse or personally with her beloved Gran and protecting her loved ones from her “dad”. After being benched for an injury, Trey is going stir crazy living in Knox’s camper. He moves in with Jessie to help her out temporarily and these two firecrackers explode. Trey finally has a purpose more than the next buckle bunny and Jessie has to learn how to lean on another.

The peeks of this dynamic couple we got in Mountain Time was just a simple glimpse into how incredible Trey and Jessie are together. The growth the two of them experience is astronomical and getting to see them fight for one another (and themselves) is beautiful.

Trevor and India Reiste have yet again won me over and I cannot wait for their next read!

Omg. There arent enough words to describe how much I loved this one. (Loved the first one too) Jessie is just so strong and even with all the BS in her life still manages to push through. Trey is the epitome of a golden retriever and he was the perfect match for Jessie. There were definitely some tear jerker moments for this emotional lady but the HEA was worth it! The epilogue was chef's kiss. Tied everything up nicely, with a lot of emotion. I really hope there's either more in this series or an interconnected series coming! I'll read anything these 2 write.
My favorite part of reading these bull rider/rodeo romances by Trevor & India is the accuracy of the rodeo scene. A lot of other authors miss the mark and I am often left saying to myself "yeah that wouldn't happen" or "that's not accurate representation".
Well done!! 🥰

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️♾️

If I could give Free Fall by Trevor & India Reiste infinite stars, I absolutely would. I ARC read this and it is hands down my favorite book I’ve read this year.

Book one was already so good, but this one? This one was an absolute KILLER.

This book has me in a complete chokehold. I’m not exaggerating when I say I was crying on my way to work and literally gasping out loud from the emotional trauma. The story, the emotions, the intensity… it wrecked me completely.

I refuse to spoil a single thing about this book because you need to experience it for yourself. Just read it. Read it. Read it like your life depends on it.

Do nothing else until you read this. (On release of course 😅)

This bull rider romance played out like a movie in my head. The descriptions of the characters, the different settings, the excursions and the romance…all so captivating and fun! Jessie, in desperate need of additional funds outside of her job as a nurse, gives in and lets Trey, the bull rider recuperating from an injury, rent one of her rooms. His attempts to get her to notice him for more becomes harder to resist, and the from her past that he provides is one she no longer can resist. The banter, the suspense, the spice, it all works so well together and the details authentic. I enjoyed Mountain Time, and I enjoyed this one even more— I can’t wait to see what this duo has next up their sleeves. 4.25 stars

I really liked the first book in this series because the characters were fun and felt real.

I really liked this book in this series because the characters switched to some INSANELY deep conversations, activities, and happenings. Which is so contradictory to their unserious personalities, it made this so enjoyable.

I think the relationship between Jessie and Trey was so well written, but I didn’t love the third act breakup. I mean if Jessie had just gotten over herself and talked to Trey, it wouldn’t have happened (like not third act breakups).

Overall though, very good story, looking forward to the next!

What did I just read?! I’m going to say this now and it will hold true for the entire year. This is my 2026 book. This book was an emotional rollercoaster of emotions. I laughed. I cried. I swooned. I blushed.

Trey and Jessie’s love story was perfect. Trey’s development from rodeo playboy to golden retriever who fell head over boots for the black cat energy girl was chef kiss. Even tho he is a little golden retriever for Jessie, don’t let him fool you with his touch her and find out vibes.

Oh my girl Jessie. I just want to drink with you and hug you. My emotional little black cat FMC. I was so excited to read her story but let’s just say the emotional feelings from it will have you overwhelmed ( in a good way). The way she developed through out the story was like a phoenix rising from the ashes and she had her found family behind her the entire way.

Thank you to the authors India and Trevor Reiste for giving me the opportunity to an advance copy and for creating these books. You bring the “real” life to small town, rodeo, western romances.

I loved mountain time(book1) but this book was FIRE. I love a spicy independent red head in a cowboy romance, I love the playboy who finally falls for a girl trope, forced proximity, so much more emotional turmoil and depth in this book that I ate up. I felt more invested in their story and their growth as characters. Protect Jessie and Trey at all costs 🤠
